I'm a returning customer with Alamo but wont be using them or their other brands including Enterprise or National in the future. I reserved a specific type of car online and arrived on a late flight to find my reservation wasnt available. I was offered a lesser vehicle instead. It did not suit my needs and they didnt do much to solve the issue. Oscar, the manager called the next day because I had filled out a survey with low marks. My husband rented a car, I believe, through Southwest Airlines (online) with pick-up at the El Paso International Airport on Mar. 22, 2024. Got our rental at half past 7:00 pm, wanted to get out of there quick as it was still a good 25-30 minute-drive to our hotel and we had an early start the next day plus, we still had to get dinner. Arrived at the hotel and from a quick glance at the car in the dimly lit parking lot, my husband seemed to notice something on the right rear door of the vehicle. There wasn't anything that stood out to him, except for what seemed like a superficial "scuff" mark, which he attributed to the car's wear and tear. He didn't tell me nor bothered to call the rental car company because he thought it was negligible. Fast forward to the day that we returned the rental (March 25th) and the customer service agent, J.J. Quiroz, who originally issued the car to us, was there to receive it as well. He went around the car to "inspect" it and found it to have been "damaged." He told me he was going to get his co-worker to take a look at it. This guy (I didn't get his name) comes out and places his hand over this "superficial" scuff mark and asked me if it had been there before and if we inspected the rental before we drove it off the lot. Answer was no to both, obviously. This guy now tells me that there's a "scratch" and a "dent" on the right rear door, which, for the life of me, I can't really see what he's talking about. He asked if we bought the collision damage waiver, and I replied that we didn't. He told me that if we did, I could have walked away without paying anything because the supposed "damage" would be covered. He didn't listen to anything I said, insisted on the "damage" and said their office would let us know what's next. This guy intimidated me knowing that it was just me and my daughter and that we had to catch a flight. I didn't want to argue. I was tired and I just wanted to go home. I took pictures of the supposed "damage". The car is so shiny you could see the reflection, even with all the dust on it - and this guy is insisting that there is damage! Unbelievable! Got home on the 25th of March. Two days later, my husband receives an email - Alamo is charging us $1,176.86 for the "damage". I looked at the breakdown, and they're billing us for repairs that weren't pointed out to me when I returned the vehicle!14 hours for labor! What's there to fix? And paint? The superficial "scuff" marks were just that, superficial! Wasn't enough to "damage" the primer or the metal! They sent pictures of the car, which showed OLD DAMAGES on it that they want me to pay! Are they serious??? Just a few days ago, my husband spoke with someone at the claims department, I believe, and was told that if we don't go through our insurance (and obviously pay them cash), we'd ONLY be paying, ONLY, around $700. I made the reservation through Costco Travel. Lowest rate in El Paso; they were advertising that they were 60% cheaper than the next lowest. Landed in El Paso 20 minutes early and went straight to the Alamo counter. There was a sign on the counter that said "We are away, but our partner at the next counter will help you" Well, the lights were out and no one in sight at the next counter. Realizing that I was a little early, I decided to wait. An hour went by, and no one showed up at either counter. I went to the parking garage and there was no one at that garage counter, either - for Alamo or the partner. I used an online app to find a car and left. I'm never doing business with this - or their partner companies - again. No wonder they're the cheapest rate in El Paso - they can't rent any cars! read more

The rental car company is located near the baggage claim. There was no line when we arrived. It was then a short walk to the garage to pick up the car. Pick up and drop off was quick. Our car was nice as it was brand new with less than 500 miles on it. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Just flew in from LAX with a fully paid rental car through Alamo at the El Paso airport, but when we arrived at 11:30 pm (late flight), they had given our car away. Oh well...too bad..so sad...seemed the attitude of the two guys manning the impotent sales booth. Of course with most of the other companies sold or nearly sold out of cars at this time of night, the greedy competition sank their teeth right into us. Instead of our prepaid $72, two-day rental. we were now forced to break the bank and pay $216 for a "new" Ford "SUV" from Thrifty that isn't much bigger than my first car (i.e. A Honda hatchback)....thanks Alamo!! Of course we wasted nearly an hour in different lines and are just now on our way to Las Cruces where I'm willing to bet a quality company like the Hilton Garden Inn will most likely have faithfully maintained our room reservation for which we only placed a deposit (unlike our car rental through Alamo that we fully prepaid). Don't rent from these companies. They are thieves. The lady at the Hertz counter happily told me, "Of course we're going to charge you full price when nobody has cars." I get it. Supply and demand, but there's something to be said for customer service of which we received none tonight. Don't expect repeat business Alamo, and I'm going to make sure as many people as I can tell will know about your oversell scheme. read more

I rented vehicle from San Antonio airport, in the middle of our travels we discovered the vehicle was infested with roaches ( not what I would ever expect) , I drove to the El Paso Tx airport, expecting the worse of customer service, I was totally WRONG. The manager on duty (Mr Copper) inspected vehicle and without hesitation exchanged vehicle and send us on our way. Welp, I just typed a long ass review and it got deleted so I'm going to be really succinct. This review is not particular to this location, but to Alamo and their customer service as a whole. After searching high and low at every car rental place that exists to find a high capacity vehicle (SUV, Van, or Passenger Van), I resigned to renting a 5 passenger SUV from Alamo. Upon checking out, I was served with an ad that said something like "want to upgrade?" and listed a Buick Enclave touting it seats 7. Bingo! A few days later, I realized I needed to extend my trip another day so I called Alamo to do so. Fortunately for all their customers, they've outsourced customer service to India. The woman on the phone could barely speak legibly and her phone kept cutting out. Additionally, she could barely answer basic questions, which made the phone call a real hoot. After my rental another day she gave me my new total and I asked if I would be getting an email receipt as I did when I originally rented the car. This woman acted as if I had just told her she had a face only a mother could love. She screamed "I ALREADY SENT IT". Taken aback, I said "ok, I wasn't sure since I didn't give you my email so I...she interrupts me "I TOLD YOU I SENT IT". Now I'm getting annoyed. I say "I have my email open and haven't gotten anything. My name is hard to spell should I give you my email again?" She then yells "FIRST DOT LAST". Seriously wtf?! So I say "you need to chill with the attitude, what is your name?" "Jenny" (or something to that affect). "Jenny, I don't know what your problem is, but you have a bad attitude. Is your manager there?" She says yes then puts me on hold for 10 minutes, then hangs up on me. I call back two more times and get hung up on both times, not sure if she was the only person on phone duty or if their shitty service was to blame. Pissed, I called corporate and demanded to speak to someone I could file a complaint with. Once someone got on the phone, I told her the situation and she asked for my info. Upon checking my reservation, she tells me the bitch in India didn't submit my order despite having given me a new total. Although their corporate office offered me nothing but a "sorry" for my troubles, I was willing to move on. Fast forward to the day of pickup. My cab was late so I arrived around 6:30am despite needing to leave by 6am. When approaching the desk, I was instructed to go to another rental desk because the Alamo employee was late. Upon arriving, the guy says I can pick from an Equinox or Ford Edge. Although I knew both of those seated 5, I thought maybe I was wrong so I said I wanted whichever seated 7 since that's why I upgraded in the first place. The employee helping a customer next to me chimed in that the Edge seated 7 and the guy helping me agreed. Begrudging and knowing that is not right, I went with it. Not surprising when I got to the car, I confirmed it only seated 5. I was already racing the clock, so I went on my way. Fast forward again to returning the car. As I stepped out, the employee asked me how my experience was. I replied saying he was nice so the return was smooth, but the overall process was not great. He asked if I could elaborate so I explained the customer service issue, then the issue with getting less than what I paid for. His response was awkward and he said something to the effect of "well, was your experience right now good though?" That made me chuckle and I had a flight to catch so I said "sure" and left. Overall, my one star review is mostly due to their terrible responses to a customer who has had a bad experience. I don't typically seek freebies or discounts, but was surprised there wasn't any offer to make it a better experience, just a couple of "sorrys". I actually wasn't going to leave a review until I got an email from them asking me to review my experience. Clearly none of the people I encountered and commiserated with throughout my journey recorded any of my terrible experience. And for that I give one star and will never use Alamo again. read more

So I didn't know what type of car to rent and Jenifer explained it was snowing and I needed a better car to travel and make it safe. I'm glad I listened and got the Tahoe with GPS. Have used this company for a rental twice, and both times were pleasant and simple. Was able to apply a huge discount on the rental because I have a Costco membership. The employees are friendly and have made getting the rental as easy as possible. Returning the rental at the airport is an extremely smooth process. We forgot to fill up the rental when we brought it back to the airport and we were charged way less than what we should have. Will always use this company for my rental car needs. read more

The other car rental companies there are small, with little inventory. Alamo always has the most(& best) vehicles out there. Everyone there is always so helpful & cheerful. Everyone there is friendly, a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of returning my vehicle to Steven, & the time before i believe it was Donald,. both are happy campers at Alamo. Also had a question about my bill & Gloria was quick & pleasant in helping me figure it out. Their Cars are always in tiptop condition with low miles. Also recently I had the pleasure of having Cassandra assist me in choosing a vehicle. She was so sweet & professional. Thank you Christine & Thank you Alamo! One last mention: DANNY! Danny is such a great guy. I sometimes would see him at the rental desk but lately I have been running into him at the exit booth. He's always happy and always helpful. The worst. I rented a small mini car from Alamo at the El Paso Airport. I had a reservation for four days at the rate of $151.32. I got off the plane, was very tired, checked in with Alamo, arranged for the car and drove off to Las Cruces. Days after I turned the car in, they charged my credit card over $440. I complained and they only credited me 38 dollars for gas. The most expensive car rental ever -- over 100 dollars a day. Their excuse: their representative handed me the terms and I agreed to them. The problem is: I had assumed that they would have provided me my reservation rate at the desk. They did not. They handed me the inflated terms. As a result, I will avoid Alamo for all my trips and will recommend to my friends and family that they avoid Alamo. read more

The gentleman working outside seemed very disorganized. What an easy, pleasant experience working with Alamo ELP! I flew into ABQ and spent 3 days driving all over NM before my flight out of El Paso. A little frantic to catch my flight and in unfamiliar territory, I completely forgot to fill up the missing quarter tank. Staff was so nice about it, couldn't be more thankful! I was also pleasantly surprised at how quick he rental process is at El Paso- you literally cross the street and within minutes you're at the terminal. Picked up the car, took it home (2 miles away) packed our luggage and went to bed. Next morning, we jump in and start the Tahoe, immediately getting a warning light that the right front tire went flat. I call Alamo, explain the issue and get disconnected. After the third call, and third disconnection, I give up. Check for a good spare, inflate the tire and continue. 15 miles down the road, the right rear starts going flat. I check for nails and nothing -- all tires are severely worn and are "economy tires" not even rated for that particular vehicle. I inflate it and continue as we are in the middle of nowhere. 20 miles later the left rear tire explodes, sending the vehicle and my family into a ditch. Completely irate, I change the blown tire and continue on our way. Every stop I had to inflate the tires for 30 minutes, as they would go flat each time. To top it all off - Alamo refuses a refund or an apology, and hotwire does the same. NEVER EVER RENT FROM THESE SNAKES. They'll rent you car even if it is on fire!!! After having spoken to probably 50 people form both companies, I have come to the conclusion that it will take public humiliation or a lawsuit to make them do something about it. Worse experience ever, and I've rented for 14 years all over the country. NEVER AGAIN FROM ALAMO!! read more

If I could I would give them a negative five star. Worst car rental and customer service ever! We were denied a rental because my wife and I were discussing the price. We were told I need to have a credit card on file to ride in the car. When we spoke to the manager about the situation the manager gave the young lady the green light to proceed with our rental. The young lady decided she didn't want or have to listen to her manager and told us we weren't allowed to rent a car. By far the worst experience ever and to top it off the young lady had attitude with my wife. I wouldn't recommend their service to anyone! read more

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK/ INSPECT OVER YOUR CAR BEFORE TAKING POSSESION OF IT!! I was dumb enough to trust the employee that was there when He told me..."pick a car any car, they are ready for you!" Well, when I came back to return the unit after having possession of it for 6 days, the Alamo employee automatically noticed damage on the roof of the car. He went and "CHECKED" prior incident records on the car and it appeared nothing was previously reported or caught by the employee that had check in the unit previously to me taking possession of it. I went on to tell him that maybe the Alamo employee had missed the roof on the prior renter. I was very frustrated because I had taken better care of this car than my own personal car. I was certain that they (Alamo employees) were covering their Incompetent staff. Well, long story short, I ended up with a $778 claim. Learn from my experience and don't feel rushed by the employee, take the TIME TO INSPECT the car you are renting, even if they say "IT HAS ALREADY BEEN CHECKED BY US". Was given an upgrade to a nice Jeep Compass. The only issue was the tire indicator was on when I was given the car. The front left tire had a slow leak. Visited Discount Tire and they recommended a flat repair as the tire was really low. Since we were looking at 45 mins to an hour to repair, we opted to refill the tire and had to do it again during the day. Told the attendant upon returning the car that they needed to repair the tire and he was very appreciative of my recommendation. Overall, it was a good experience but I would recommend the tires be checked before the customer receives the car. read more
