My Russian born wife and I came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon. We had received a local advertisement. It was happy hour (3-6 pm and after 8pm daily) so we started with a mug of Alaskan Amber (on tap) with a free bowl of dumplings each. My wife got the chicken dumplings while I got the beef. Having spent the last 28 years eating Russian food, I've come to appreciate good Russian food. This was good Russian food. The dumplings (Pelmeni) were very good and very authentic. For Americans trying them for the first time, I recommend getting the toppings on the side. Also, sour cream is not listed on the menu but that's what Russians eat with Pelmeni. Both my wife and I got sour cream and she also got vinegar on the side. Note: this is real vinegar. Not the sweet cider vinegar most Americans know. It's tart. That's why you should get it on the side. You can decide how much to put on your dumplings. Of course, a plate of 12 dumplings won't fill you up. We also ordered Pierogies. My wife got the mushroom and potato while I got the meat pierogie. Note, the meat Pieriogie is NOT kosher. (Contained pork) so if you are a Russian Jew, too bad. That said, the food was tasty and fresh. The Pierogies came with a spicy dipping sauce that was quite good and complemented the ordinarily bland food. We will come back to try other Russian foods like borscht and chicken noodle soup. read more

First time here and they've only been open about a month, I think. We ordered the cheese & potato and meat pierogies. Tasty but definitely not enough for a single meal, either that or I eat a lot. For the dumplings, we did the cheese & potato with the Alaskan sauce and chicken with loaded sauce which is butter, cheese, bacon and ham with parsley. The Alaskan sauce is delicious but the vinegar in the sauce caught me off guard. They do have beers on tap and I believe some bottled stuff too. The waiter was friendly and the bathroom was clean. Not a lot of sitting area but we're planning on bringing the kids back as they love dumplings and these were tasty! Excited to have a new restaurant in Maple Valley that offers good food for a reasonable price. My wife and I tried this restaurant a month ago, and we were not impressed. These dumplings are not homemade and are definitely brought in frozen and reheated. They charge almost $1 per dumpling, but for $15 I could buy a massive bag of these dumplings from the russian supermarkets. The borscht was alright, but very very basic. The chicken soup is absolutely not homemade, you could basically taste the carton the chicken stock came out of. Not worth the price for frozen food you could easily reheat yourself. read more

Hubs told me he was taking me on an adventure and this was so perfect!! If you've ever been to Juneau, AK and ever experienced the dumplings at 2am to watch the never ending twilight on the docks at the port, this is it, but with a different view. We met Marat (please forgive me if I misspelled) and he was absolutely wonderful!! He gave great recommendations and chatted with us about travels to Maui. I let my husband pick the dumplings since I was most excited to try the Pierogies. We tried chicken, beef and the potato & mushroom dumplings with the Alaskan Classic style, but Marat also gave us a side of the sweet and spicy style sauce. My husband loved the chicken best. I was a fan of the beef, but my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE was the potato and cheese Pierogies!! So good that we had 2!! I cannot wait to go back again to try a different dumpling flavour and get another Pierogie lol. Thanks Marat!! A new little place in Maple Valley food venues, that adds a nice Russian style to the mix. A little confusion on the signage for happy hour 12 dumplings free with large beer. But the owner figured it out, we did not have to go next door. The Borscht soup, served hot with plenty of beets and beef flavor was excellent and the beet salad served cold was equally excellent. I do use excellent sparingly and it fits these two dishes and worth the visit. They were out of fish sticks and the wings we just another deep fried wings. The Russian Cole claw was good, but paled to the beet dishes. Drafts beers were Alaskan of course or at least north west. Wine is just two, red and white, not bad for the price. Try the walnut cookies, very good; the Russian cake a little dry, but very tasty. Happy hour is two to five and after 8pm the sign said. 12 dumplings we a little doughy for my tastes, but the sauces were full flavor. The large draft beer looks like 25 ounces. The amber and IPA hit the spot. We would go back for the Borscht and beet salad, for sure. Keep the beer cold. read more

We are a fan of this family owned and operated business. These dumplings bring me back to my Polish Grandmother's kitchen. They are very authentic rustic eastern European dumplings. We have tried them all. I love the sweet and spicy ones the most. The buffalo ones are good too. The atmosphere is pleasant. The store is well kept and clean. Try the beet salad and the Russian cake, I think it is hazelnut. You will not be disappointed. read more

Tried this place since it had good reviews and our whole party of 5 left pretty disappointed in our food. Maybe we are used to and expecting more flavor in our food. Everything was pretty bland. It doesn't even taste like it's even at least salted or sprinkled with pepper. Service was good and the staff is very kind, but the food just lacks so much leaving you unsatisfied. We finally visited this restaurant, and loved it! We'll be back. The place has a very casual atmosphere, with minimal wall decorations. The interior is simple, clean, and orderly. Clearly, the focus is on the food. My wife and I shared an order of 12 dumplings, a bowl of borsht, and a beet salad. It was plenty of food for the two of us. Menus are available near the entry, leaving us wondering if we should wait for a server to visit our table, or order at the counter (which was vacant when we entered). A very pleasant woman soon appeared, and visited our table after delivering a meal to a neighboring table. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. Our food arrived within the promised time. Everything was delicious! A neighboring table was enjoying a Russian Cake for dessert. When asked about it, they said that it was even better than the Marvel Deli (another East European place that we like). The menu has a variety of Russian/Polish items, as well as some standard American fare. Prices end in "0", which I love. The tricks with "99" or "95" that are common elsewhere are very annoying to me. Our two beet-heavy items (borsht and the beet salad) had the expected effect of coloring our digestive system outflow. Don't be alarmed. ------------------------------------------------------------- Here's an update. I normally review the KC Health Dept's inspection results before visiting a restaurant. I failed to do so here, but it didn't matter. This is a fairly new restaurant. They've had three inspections. Two were awarded "goose eggs" (0 points), and one had one 3-point violation. These are extremely enviable records -- far better than some very expensive restaurants where we've dined. I like to patronize establishments that try hard to not poison me. These are definitely nothing like Chinese dumplings but I wanted to give them a second chance. I first ate here when they just freshly opened. They were out of a lot of menu items and service was so so. Again, when I came in this time, they were out of some of their main items. Ugh. Ultimately the dumplings in my opinion were not very good. Maybe that's just how they're supposed to be though. They're very small and the filling is dense and unexceptional. No flavor. Eating the potato filled ones tastes like eating mashed potatoes with crust. And I didn't really care for the sauce either. I tried the spicy and the curry. It's too much vinegar for me and I'm not really adverse to vinegar. There's no depth in flavor or minimal broth like a Chinese dumpling. These dumpling just fall really short for me. Service is quick but not really that friendly. Just meh. They close at 7pm many days which seems odd to me because that's right in the middle of dinner time. This place is fantastic! I've never eaten Russian dumplings so I can't compare them. However everything I tried was delicious and I would eat again. We had the chicken and pork with the classic sauce. The sweet and spicy sauce and the loaded. Out of the 3 I didn't love the loaded but it was good. It was my sons favorite. I ordered through Grubhub. When I arrived, the food wasn't ready. They asked me what I ordered and if I had already paid. Pretty sure that was the moment they started preparing the food. Dumplings were pretty good! Authentic and tasted freshly prepared. They did not have any walnut cookies, so they offered a refund. I can't say I was a fan of the Beet Salad, but that's probably not terribly surprising since I loathe mayonnaise and that's mostly what I tasted. I love their lunch special where you get their house dumplings and sauce (several choices of each), really good borscht or another soup, and a couple other extras. We tried dumplings from the food truck in our area. They didn't have a huge variety - 3 different fillings, 3 different sauces, no side dishes or anything other than dumplings. Quite a few of the dumplings were broken. Taste was nice but not spectacular. The sweet and spicy was definitely better than the classic sauce.
