I've been a loyal customer of Pellman's in Boulder, so even after my move to west Denver I kept going to them. But 5 times my car has been in for an oil change, and I've told them the left turn blinker works only half the time. Oh, it works for us, they told me. And this last time I said that I couldn't use my windshield wipers. Oh, little lady, that's because you let your reservoir get empty, but we filled it for you (and by the time I got home, it was empty again because there was a PROBLEM that went beyond owner incompetence). Frustrated, I tried Alba's when I needed a new alternator. Voila! In one day I had a new alternator installed, my blinker works, and my van no longer drains out the windshield fluid (issue was a leaking pump which was replaced). Definitely a small operation; your car won't get a complimentary vacuum for example. But if you want a competent mechanic at a fair price, this is a good place for you. read more

Maybe I could write a review after not receiving an actual service from this place like Damon S. (Clearly a dumbass) who was so upset about an unreturned call. This is a great family owned auto repair business. I would especially recommend Alba's to consumers who aren't very car savvy and are worried about getting taken advantage of by unscrupulous mechanics; Alba's has scruples for days. I've always preferred doing business with small, family-owned auto mechanics, and I haven't found any better than this one. My truck needed an oil change in January, and they did it for me for about what 6 quarts of oil would have cost me retail. Also, I got to read in their nice warm waiting room while they did it (instead of crawling under my truck on 20 degree pavement doing it myself). Some of the best money I've spent at a mechanic. Three days later, my wife's car threw up a check engine light code about a bad timing solenoid. I took my wife's car there, and asked them to fix it. I wasnt thinking and I told them to just fix it up to $500 without calling me. They called me to confirm I wanted them to repair it for an amount in the low $300s. They totally could have gotten me for an extra $150 easy, but instead they charged me a fair price, and got the car back to us the same day. I havent had any issues with either service in almost three months since. Alba's is definitely my new go-to mechanic. read more

I needed the timing belt on my wife's Toyota Highlander replaced. I do all my own auto repairs because of bad luck with mechanics - but this is a major job that I didn't have time for. Alba's quoted 35% less than the dealer for this job and replaced exactly the same parts as the dealer (timing belt, water pump, and all pulleys). Alba's had a bad review on Yelp, but I checked and found the bad review was totally inaccurate, so I gave this job to Alba's. They completed the job on time and I have had zero problems. I got all the old parts back and verified that the correct replacements were done, and they used OEM grade parts. In particular, Alba's used the correct Aisin water pump. I will be going back to them for future major jobs. read more

Recently went to Alba auto shop to have my car worked on the check engine light was on a diagnostic set it needed oxygen sensors and there was a vacuum leak running lean at idle after a few days they called me and said it needed to oxygen sensors and an oil change and a filter I agreed to the service after a couple of days they called me and told me it was ready told me the issue had been fixed car ran great for almost a week no issues then the engine light came back on after another diagnostic it came up with the same issues vacuum leak and oxygen sensors I took it back to Albas. They kept it a couple of more days and now they tell me they cannot fix it they want me to take it to a dealer so after all that time and the money I gave them now they cannot fix it and of course I couldn't get a refund very sad when you take your car to an auto shop they charge you a lot of money and tell you it's fixed only to have the outcome that it's not fixed and now you're out all the hard-earned money. After this experience I would definitely not go back or ever refer anyone to that shop. They take your money and don't fix the problem. read more

Had a snowboard trip this weekend called them with a list of things I needed done before I went up the mountain tires, rotors, shocks,and Hub. When I told my regular mechanic (my neighbor) what was wrong with my Jeep, he thought that it would be a $300 part (not even including labor), & didn't have the time to look at it. I found this Yelp page, & nervously called to see when I could bring my car in. I have been burned by a number of mechanics in the past, primarily because I'm a woman, so I was pretty nervous about taking my car into a shop again. I dropped my car off with the intention of just getting a diagnosis & a quote for how much the repair would cost. I had to have my car towed in, & by sheer coincidence, the tow truck driver & his wife who came to get me went to high school with the owners of Alba's. The whole (short) drive over, they told me what good people they were, & how knowledgeable they were. This set the tone for my entire interaction with the people at Alba's. After getting my car to Alba's & filling out the paperwork & going over everything that was wrong with my Jeep (there was a lot), I was planning on getting a Lyft home. Janice herself offered to give me a ride home (because I lived so close), as soon as her husband came back from picking up a car. While we were waiting, another customer (who clearly also thinks of these people as family) offered to give me a ride home instead. They were so nice! The next day, when Janice called, she didn't say "the diagnosis is done". She told me "Your car is ready". When I asked for clarification, she said, "Well... We fixed it!" I just about fell out of my chair, worried that they had decided to just go ahead & fix it without telling me what was wrong first or what it would cost. That wasn't the case: Turns out that, instead of needing that $300 part that my neighbor thought it was, I have been checking my transmission fluid wrong all these years, & it needed almost 4 quarts of fluid. They taught me how to check the fluids properly, they fixed a leak in one of my radiator hoses, & my car has been running better than it did the day that I brought it home. They repaired my Jeep for half of the price of the part that my neighbor thought I needed. I have taken my car to a number of places over the years, & no one has ever caught on to how low my transmission fluid was - They all just told me that my transmission was going bad (which it may be, but I've had zero problems with it since taking it to Alba's). Not once did I ever feel like I was being talked down to because I'm a woman & know less about cars than the average mechanic (but slightly more than the average woman). They suggested a couple minor things that I could do to keep my car running well & in decent shape, which I can't afford right now, but when I can, I will definitely be coming back to this place! It took them THREE days to put on two new tires, adjust the alignment, and do an oil change. I called on Friday to ask some questions and was told it would be no problem to drop my car off on Monday morning and it should be done that day. Dropped it off and then didn't get a call from them till 3:30 saying that they were just now getting to my car and it should be done the next day. I talked to them twice on day two, once at 8:20 and again at 1:00 saying my car would be ready at the end of the day. I left work around 4 to pick up my car (I was taking the bus and didn't want to get there after they closed) only to get a call at 4:30 saying my car wouldn't be ready till the next day. I told them I was already on the bus there, they said sorry and that the car would be ready the next day. When I finally got the call on day THREE that my car was ready, they also added that there is a 3% fee to use a credit card to pay for the work. They were kind enough to waive the 3% fee, but when I said I was unhappy that it took three days for my car to be ready they said, oh well we didn't get a hold of you till so late on the second day and we had to order the tires, and nothing else. My experience wasn't bad, they kept in contact and did good repairs on my car but I was definitely not impressed with the customer service or timeliness. Would't refer them to anyone who has more to do then wait on their car to be fixed. read more

Definitely glad to have waited on reviewing albas auto i own a 2002 impreza rs had an overheating and electrical problem had them fix it for 40 bucks thought wow these people are awesome have good reviews and all until i had the same problems reoccur a week later and i take it back to them for them to tell me i need a new engine because its warped from heat they didnt specify what was warped and it would cost me over 6300 dollars for s new engine so i asked pepboys to take a look at it and they did and found it odd that nothing about it was warped no heads cylinders rods blocks or anything was cracked warped or damaged from the heat pepboys ran all pressure test and it performed better than most on that test there was also no gaps leaks or anything that albas auto had specified pepboys saved me from having to sell my car based off bad advice from albas dont know if it was a bad judgement half ass check up or they just wanted to get me for 6000 dollars so beware if you feel something isnt right get a second opinion before taking there advice and coughing up money read more
