I finally stopped by Alberta's Pizzeria on Saturday evening and thankfully I made a reservation because it was packed! We had a reservation for six people at 6pm and we were seated in a booth in the very back. The inside is dimly lit and cozy with booths, small tables, and a fairly long bar. I really enjoyed the pizzas we got, especially the Hot Sopp, and the meatballs were really flavorful with a great sauce. The cotoletta was cooked perfectly but on the bland side and the butternut squash was also bland and undercooked. While Alberta's was a bit of a mixed bag for me, I would come back to try more pizzas and other dishes! read more

My friends and I happened upon Alberta's while we were looking for a last minute restaurant after there was a power outage in the restaurant we were previously in. Alberta's got us in before the kitchen closed, and they were super accommodating. The waiter was very nice and helpful in making suggestions. We started the meal off with some foccacia, zucchini fries, and calamari. The zucchini fries were my favorite. They were light, salty, and soft. Perfection. The focaccia was very thick but tasty, and I didn't really care for the calamari. For my entree, I got the Meatballs, which were nothing special. They weren't really great and I barely ate them. Most of my groups got their wood fired pizzas, and they all enjoyed them. This restaurant is cute and their service was great, but I most likely won't be back because their food wasn't that great. This is a hidden gem. Friends and I enjoyed a girls lunch here recently and everything was incredible. The drinks were great and our server was so attentive and friendly. The space is bright and clean and intimate. The menu varies but we ordered a large Caesar salad and the meatball appetizer to split, followed by three pizzas: the white boy, the jabroni (pepperoni) and a margherita. The white boy was by far our favorite but the others were amazing as well! I wish we had thought about dessert before we left because I've heard great things about the tiramisu. read more

Stopped here for a nice meal before the Steelers game! We sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by the bartender. We had a gin drink with cucumber and watermelon as well as a local beer on draft- both half price for happy hour. For dinner we shared a small Caesar Salad which was unique and delicious as well as the Zen Za. Easy walking distance to the stadium. Great find! read more

Great across the board. I had a pizza with pepperoni and red onion. It was a specially pizza and delicious. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back for it. Drinks were fun and refreshing. This spot is so cute! The interior design is gorgeous and they have a cute outdoor dining space out front too. I really liked the wine here, the Sauvignon blanc was awesome. Good pizza, friendly waitress, very poor restaurant tactics. I made a reservation here about a month in advance. I had the Pistolo (bourbon drink; with plum notes...couldn't taste plum) and we started with the calamari. Overall, flavorful appetizer but would skip the drink. The bitters were too strong and for the glass it comes in, it's not worth $16. Our waitress must have heard us wrong because she put 2 pizzas in for us instead of one. We cleared it up with her and got the correct one, the Zen's Zza which was delicious, but came out cold. I was too hungry to send it back. Normally when a restaurant has a stipulation of a time frame for reservations, they kindly sneak it in to their final conversation with you. "Can I get you anything else?", "Will that be all for tonight?" Etc. Instead what happened was the hostess coming over to our table and rudely saying "the 8pm reservation is here, so we need the table." I'm sorry. This is unacceptable. I get that it's on your Resy page that reservations are 90 minutes, but please train your staff better. Also, 90 minutes is nothing. Industry standard is 2 hours. I won't be back. Too many things leading up to a mediocre experience. read more

I've been waiting to try Alberta's for so long and finally got a reservation last night with some girlfriends. We ordered the cauliflower gratin special, the Genny, and white boy pizzas. And the ricotta pumpkin pie for dessert was the perfect night cap! Everything was delicious!! Tip: order the whipped ricotta and hot honey for dippin. I went here for a dinner with friends to celebrate my birthday and it was lovely. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the "white boy" pizza with arugula and we shared a large Caesar salad and the frito misto. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had...very fresh and made with homemade dressing. This past Friday my boyfriend and I got last minute reservations for the bar here (need reservations for sure as it was busy and bar is not seat yourself)! All the food was really good, but we personally were super impressed with the tiramisu -- it might've been the best we've had in Pittsburgh. If you get the cod croquettes we recommend squeezing the lemon that comes with it on top; really takes it to the next level. Dim lighting and aesthetically super cute inside which would make it a good date spot! I love Alberta's! I'd heard great things for years about their pizza when they operated out of their food truck, and even more great things once their brick and mortar location opened last year. Finally checked it out a few weeks ago for dinner and WOW is it good! The space itself is so cozy, chic, and elegant, it's nice enough for a date night spot but still casual enough to have a meal with family or friends. The pizza itself is perfect - great crust, fresh ingredients, no complaints. The tiramisu is also amazing and comes in an adorable mug! Everything came out swiftly and service was very organized. Server was not friendly until someone in our party asked if a manager was around she finally was somewhat decent. She told us we could not order appetizers then our meal that we had to order everything at once so items could be brought out in stages and then everything came at one time?!?? Alberta's is cozy and casual, but still feels special. We got Oysters Rockefeller (on special), Fritto Misto, and the White Boy with arugula. The White Boy was delicious and not too garlicky (although there can never be too much garlic on my plate). The crust was a little tough for my liking, making it hard to bite or cut into. The seafood was delicious and even though fried, tasted very fresh. We also tried the tiramisu and the key lime pie. They were both fantastic! Our waiter, Zen, made great recommendations and was very attentive. I am excited to go back and try her pizza, Zen's Za! One downside was because the space is small and we visited in winter, it was pretty freezing with the door opening pretty frequently on a Friday night. read more

I'd like to start by saying that the pizza here is absolutely fantastic! I'm only giving it four stars for a couple of reasons listed below, but this place is absolutely worth checking out. My husband and I went here for our Valentines date. As soon as we walked in, I loved the whole vibe and it was much larger than I anticipated. We wound up at a small table by the front window. Personally, I think the ambience was better at the bar. We will definitely do that the next time we visit. Our server was really awesome and explained the entire menu to us. I started with a casino cocktail, which was the perfect mix of sweet and tart. Our server recommended the meatballs, which he said were his absolute favorite. I typically go with what a server recommends and usually it works out for the best. However, the meatballs were overcooked and lost their moisture so that was a little disappointing. We couldn't make up our mind on what kind of pizza so I asked the server about a few different ones. One of my questions was on the speckman pizza, I wanted to know what speck was. At first he said he didn't know and then he said it was a type of cheese. When he walked away from the table, I decided to just look it up, and well it's actually cured ham. It's not a big deal that he didn't know what it was, it just would have been nice for him to find out instead of offering up an incorrect answer. We ultimately did decide on the Speckman pizza and it was delicious. The mushrooms on it were out of this world they had so much flavor. They make their mozzarella in-house, and it was fabulous! I know that they are using the best ingredients, but the pizzas are on the pricier side. We ended our night by sharing the tiramisu. It had good flavor, but I am a bit of a tiramisu critic and I prefer the lady fingers to be soaked through with the coffee/liquor mix. The ladyfingers were pretty dry. But this place definitely has amazing pizzas and we will be going back to try out some of the other pies! read more

They were extremely accommodating and even gave us a round of drinks on the house while we waited. Food was delicious & their pizza is authentic Neapolitan. We have been to Alberta's at various pop ups and love it. It's so good. Cannot wait until their physical space opens on Western Ave in the Northside. It will be amazing. I've had the margarita and the jibroni. Both are absolutely delicious. The sauce is sweet but not too sweet. The mozzarella and pepperoni are really good. Want to try the burata and prosciutto appetizer. I'm sure it's great. My friends love the white pizza called the fat boy. So good. The people are so nice and accommodating. It's mystery date night! Every other week I take my wife on a mystery dinner date, I tell her when to be ready and how to dress but not where we are going! Tonight was Alberta's Pizzeria. The vibe in this shop is so cool, I believe they used to be a food truck that is now brick and mortar. A really nice intimate space and really enjoyable experience. Disclaimer - I wanted to try like 5 different pizzas but we have a rule when trying a new pizza shop, we order plain or at max pepperoni to give every new pizza shop a fair shake and let the pizza speak for itself. I got the Jabroni - their house made mozzarella, pepperoni and chili flakes. This thing packed some heat and oh man was it really good. Very nice char, crispy edges, it's definitely a wood fired pizza so a little more chew (I'm more of a crispy New York style preference) but for a wood fired pizza this is really up there, definitely recommend. My wife got the white boy - house made mozzarella, garlic, pecorino romano, oregano, and a little rosemary. She really really liked this one and had to talk herself down from overeating. I do not like rosemary, but I tried it and really didn't get the rosemary, I found this to be almost as good as my pizza, really garlicky, lots of fresh herbalness and the cheese was fantastic. Another disclaimer - they add a 20% surcharge as a spread for all their employees, which was explained to us and I totally get it as well as adding an additional tip for the server which can go directly to them. I'd rather pay more for the food/drink but it's not my place to tell them how to run their business. It was on the menu and explained to us so no issues there at all!
