Best lobster and crab legs we've ever had! Well worth venturing out of your resort for! This place is the first stop for the boats coming onto land. Fresh catch platter brought to the table for personal choice. Tamarind margaritas are delicious! Perfect sunset spot. We were a little worried about catching a taxi as we were there during Carnival, but we figured that we could walk next door to the hotel if needed. The host attempted the call for a taxi, but they weren't answering. The manager came out and gave us, another couple and a family all a ride back to our separate hotels, as he said our safety was his responsibility! Let me just start with saying I did NOT expect to like Alberto's. It's a chain restaurant on the island and all I wanted was some true local Mexican from Cozumel. I only tried Alberto's because it was the only place in walking distance of my resort (Iberostar) and I needed a getaway from the terrible all inclusive buffet. Employees of Iberostar said they loved Alberto's food, but I assumed they just didn't know anything about good food. But when my boyfriend and I tried Alberto's.. We fell in love!! We loved it so much that I even went multiple times during our stay. We actually went to a few local spots during our trip in search of authentic, tasty Mexican food, but we were always disappointed. Even though Alberto's is an island chain, it ended up blowing away all the other places we tried! The food isn't the only good part of Alberto's. They have outdoor seating right on the beach. It really doesn't get any better! They also have live classic music on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. And the staff is also friendly, which is a plus. If you're wondering what you should order, GET A SHRIMP DISH. I'm still dreaming of my shrimp fajita. It was seriously the best shrimp I've ever had. Remember to bring cash. If you have pesos, even better. You'll save some money if you use pesos. But the prices are still reasonable in US$. So if you're staying Cozumel get your butt over to Alberto's. Don't even waste the effort on trying to find better food on the island because you won't. read more

Wanted more drinks, needed dirty plates cleared from table.. no service for at least another 15 mins. Place was not that busy either. This place is HORRIBLE! Now for the worst part. We were ready to pay. Conversion rate was $18 pesos for $1 US. Menu displayed a rate of $16 pesos for $1 US. Nothing to worry about because they accepted Visa. They ended up charging my card and extra 10% in pesos. An extra 10 f*cking percent. Babbling on and on about how they charged us right. They have the worst ethics. Do not give them your business. The lobster is really great, the view is on the ocean- so obviously perfect. Walked from our hotel here. Service is great and it was a great meal to end our trip. I had the fish tacos, which were good! But, for some reason I thought the taco would have more than fish on it. The seafood is the star- so definitely stick with it. We showed up with expectations to go snorkeling they said that because it was too choppy we wouldn't be able to snorkel they were rude about it. We were completely bummed out that we said we understood so we bought two waters and decided to head out. When we got back to the rental place for our mopeds who had helped us find the snorkeling. They wouldn't give us our deposit back because Alberto's decided to tell them we were a "no-show." We had to fight and beg for our money back. $45. Finally leave convince to the guys at the moped shop to give us our money back and figure out how to get their money back from Alberto's. It was a horrible experience and very uncomfortable. The food is amazingggg! I had the shrimp two days ago and i havent stopped thinking about it since! Its walking distance from iberostar. All you have to do is turn right at the pier from the beach in the hotel and it gets you straight there. We just caught the sunset and its right at the beach. The only downfall was because it was getting dark and of course the location and there was food...there was an abundanceeeee of mosquitoes. Wasnt too bad if you have bug spray on but if you dont be ready to be feasted on!!! Wasnt too comfortable eating and having all those bugs around you but the food was most definitely worth it!!! There are several on the island but we went to the one on the beach. Truly amazing experience. Fish tacos were great. Chips and salsa and guacamole were amazing. Nice ambience. There were several walk up clients from down the way that ended up eating as well. They lit tiki torches to help with keeping the mosquitoes away. Large menu to choose from. Cute little shop available to purchase your favorites. Sand volleyball available. Bumpy driveway but it is worth the time to get there. read more

Excellent food. We went while we stayed at the Iberostar next door. We just walked over after a nice day of swimming. Yes our hotel is all inclusive but the prices at Alberto's are so reasonable that you just have to go and eat there. There is a large platter that feeds 3-4 people that is just awesome. We recently visited Cozumel. We were sold a snorkeling tour through a Hotel employee. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it so much. Peter the driver was amazing, he encouraged me to go into the water and made me feel very safe. Isa was our guide and he was also amazing. He made sure everyone was safe and having fun. He recommended for us to change the last stop, so the rest of the group could come down the boat and enjoy. We all agreed and it was great. The water was crystal clear and the sand was white. We were able to see a stingray and swim with fishes. Great experience! Three days after we decided to tried their food and it was delicious. Great service as well. Our server was awesome, don't recall his name, but we called him number two all the time and he was great! Definitely recommend their services, very professional and great staff! read more

I had the Mayan prepared fresh catch, grouper I think. It was cooked in a foil packet with local spices, tomatoes and chilis. It was excellent. I have never had a flavor profile like it and am trying to recreate it. The fried shrimp was delicious too. The staff was on top of it and cheerful, full of life and dance. Wow! I'm glad we asked the locals where to get the best seafood! We were so excited about the catch, we booked a fishing trip a couple days later! We had the ceviche mixto and the combination plate for 2 with two lobster tails! Mmmm delisioso! A little on the pricy side, but when you are tired of the all inclusive restaurants have to offer, it was well worth the value! Went back yesterday (because it's beautiful & we've enjoyed the fish platter before), and we waited over an hour for the waiter to take an order (never happened) so then we waited another 30min for a bill (never happened), so we left and then of course the waiter chased us to our car! Waayyyyy over priced for what you get, the bill took 30 minutes to get and they included a tip. Once we were able to get our bill they took our money but did not return with the change. We could not find our waiter for the change and then everyone stopped speaking English. We left upset and feeling ripped off. The one star is only warranted because the view was beautiful. I stayed at the Iberostar next door which is an all inclusive for 11 nights. I had dinner at Alberto's 4 times this trip and once a year ago. I LOVE it here. Alberto (not the owner) was our server twice - he was wonderful and made sure we never wanted for anything. I had mahi mahi, lobster, chicken fajitas and the shrimp fajitas. I also tasted the red snapper and crab that was ordered by my friends - everything was excellent each time. I love that I can have a great margarita but they have Bud Light which is great because I am not a fan of Mexican beer. Beautiful view of the sunset. Fun and relaxing atmosphere. You are partially paying for the setting. The food was fresh and relatively good. The setting was as good as it gets, right on the beach itself. The prices are high for the area, but business is business. If the all-inclusive resort next door had better food this place might not get as much business. But it was a pleasant place to eat and great to chill, listen to some good music, eat seafood, and drink some beer. The lobster was good, but not the best I've had. Just recently went to Alberto's on Sept 10, 2016. Unfortunately, I have a bad review because they don't conduct honest, fair business. My cousin and I were the 1st guest on the premise. The manager greeted us and I inquired about jet ski's. The manager told us that they had jet ski's and the price was $65 for 45mins (which happened to be a great price). So I told the manager, we would get started with Jet ski's 1st and follow with food, drinks, etc. My cousin and I are out having a blast with the jet ski's, 30mins into our time the crew is waving us down. I return to the shore and tell them we have 15mins left (before we hit the waters, I informed "the manager" and showed "the manager" that I was keeping track of time with my phone.) So I show the jet ski rep my clock and he said ok 15 more minutes. I go back out to the water and they are waving us down after about 5 mins. I come back to the shore and I show the rep I have 10mins left. The rep gets hostile and acts like he had no knowledge of our discussion regarding the remaining 15 minutes of the time that we paid for. I called the manager over because he was the individual that gave the price. When I confronted the manager, he acted as if he didn't recall our discussion regarding price and time. Stating that price is $65 for 30mins. So my cousin confronts the manager about a refund for the remaining time that we paid for and the manager then states that the Jet ski rep is a separate vendor and has no association with him. I told the manager that the problem wasn't paying money for our time, we're on vacation to spend money. I told the manager that he didn't keep his end of the deal and that's not how you handle business nor is it good business. The disappointment is that they were not honest in conducting business! My cousin and I was ready to spend additional money on food, drinks and etc. Because of their lack of integrity and ability to conduct fair business, we left the premise and went to Playa Mia Grand Beach Park where we spent money that could have been Alberto's Beach Bar. read more

They have Their menu prices broken down into US dollars and pesos side by side. ON THEIR MENU. They also admit the exchange rate is always changing so how the HELL could you post the price in US dollars if the exchange rate is always changing??? Total bill was 1280 pesos. Got charged 1440 pesos when he ran my credit card. I noticed and walked back inside and informed the woman at the front desk. She immediately seemed concerned and checked my bill. She said yes you're right it is 1280 pesos and not 1440. She then got my server and he told me they charged us right- you pay more in US dollars. I said that's impossible every restaurant and store on the island during my week long stay has ran my credit card in pesos just like he did and there's no issue with totals being higher. I asked him what the exchange rate wAs and he said 18 USD. I said okay 1280 pesos divided by 18 is $71 USD and you charged me $80! These people must be making a lot of extra money overcharging gullible tourists. He admitted their menu needs updated. How about you just charge the current exchange rate asshole. I'll never be back and I let as many people on the way out know how unethical this place is. Fuck Alberto's. I also read a review from someone that brought their own fish and they took their mahi and sold it! I should have stayed far away from this place after reading it.
