I have come here several times and for the most part their staff is friendly. I recommend their adobada meat and their churros.

I was a little weary walking in, but this place is super cheap and does not skimp. Is this place organic and using grass fed beef? I think not, but for some cheap good Mexican eats in greasy spoon type form it hits. I got 2 massive tacos for $7. The tortillas were delicious and while there carne asada was over cooked and rough, it was salty, and topped with a huge portion of guac. The fish taco was a deep fried chunk of fish, really well prepared with a little bit of tartar and shredded lettuce -again on two heated up corn tortillas. I put some of the delicious salsas all over and I was happy! Tacos came out in a matter of 3 minutes. So fast! And I spied a drive thru! Overall, this spot is legit. Burritos are made without rice and beans the way they should be, a nice menu of tortas enchiladas and the other usual staples including breakfast burritos served all day. My colleague mentioned Alberto's is the spot you go to when you've had some drinks to soak up the booze, and I see that. But wasn't too shabby sober on a Monday! The first time this place came into mind was three months ago when I came in town on a business trip afain as always one of the hotels employee told me about it when I asked him about authentic Mexican food. When I heard the name Alberto's I was all excited cause Alberto's and Roberto's were one of my favorites places to get authentic Mexican cuisine in California. I wanted to compared this Salt Lake City Alberto's with the one I was use too. As I entered Alberto's the employee's scattered all different directions. I saw about five to six employees working behind the cash register taking orders. No smiles no greeting just attitude that I should be privileged to be there to order their food and move on. Now On my first visit I ordered the carne asada burritos quantity of two and a beef tacos. One to eat at the restaurant and the others to take back to my hotel. When I picked up my orders and took a bit out of my beef tacos absolutely no flavors I told myself move on to the burrito. The beef was cut bit bigger and hard to chew. The ingredients not the same that I was used to in California, Nevada or in Arizona . Boy I was disappointed. Over $30 I left the restaurant not happy with their food and service thinking I won't be back this place is not worth my time and money. Well I had another business trip back to Salt Lake and this time I wanted the restaurant to redeem themselves for my past experience so this time I wanted to give them one more chance. As I entered the restaurant again no greeting , employees chatting with each other not paying attention to the customers..... I wanted to order different item this time from the menu. I ordered the chicken taco and a California Burrito thinking this time it might be better. Boy was I wrong. I decided to take pictures of my order what it was and what it should have been if it was meant as authentic Mexican food. Hope the owners understand what authentic food means to customers. For the second time I was very disappointed . Now the question is would I come back the answer is absolutely NO. Would I recommend the business to friends traveling with me absolutely NO . We are in a time where family and friends work hard and earn their money and go out spend it on things they love. I love giving little business again and again my business so they can flourish against the big corporations restaurants but sometimes for the amount of money you spend you don't get the service nor the flavorful meal you deserve. Restaurant was clean, affordable, and delicious. Everything I want in a restaurant. I ordered an salad, cheese quesadilla, and cheese chips. The salad with house made dressing was delicious. The quesadilla was a quesadilla, what more can I say? Cheese chips were literally just chips topped with shredded cheese and then melted. Not what I was expecting but exactly what my kids wanted. This place is amazing. They serve the lunch menu all day. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito at 9 am before going on a hike. The veggies were crunchy, just as they should be. Have you ever seen those plastic, play foods that children use as toys? They look like they taste pretty good, huh. This place is similar in that the food looks beautiful, but tastes awful!! Came here because of the good reviews... Also came here with my pregnant wife to satisfy a cheap, Mexican food craving. It was not that cheap and did not satisfy any cravings. However, it did make both of us sick. This is the WORST Mexican I have ever eaten, honestly. The meat had no flavor, red sauce tasted moldy, they shorted us big time on the pico, the beans tasted like expired Great Value refried beans, the eggs were WAY overcooked, and even the water tasted funny. The guacamole was actually not bad. Overall, the food left such a bad taste in our mouths that we had to drive to the grocery store after in order to buy something that could get the taste out. I checked my card and I see I've averaged $92/week the last 3 weeks here. Getting extra green salsa is the worst thing she has done this week? She then said "how many do you have to have?". I asked for 4-5 more and she threw 4 in and I got a sigh of disgust. Seriously? The $92/week I spend and I asked for what is NO MORE THAN $.50 maximum!!! Only been here once and got the California Burrito togo. It had a lot of potential but was lacking a little more flavor or kick to it. Not sure if this had to do with me ordering from the drive thru but the hot sauce they gave wasn't very hot. Not sure if there were more options if you dined in. This is one clean, outstanding, beautiful well maintained, customer oriented, service driven, friendly and very tasty establishment. I was impressed by the outside landscaping and signage being so well maintained and updated. Then you walk inside and find a very beautiful decor, so amazingly clean, inviting atmosphere. For being a Fast Food Restaurant, it wouldn't take much for this business to become a nice dine in facility. The customer service was extremely excellent and the employees were professional, outstanding, outgoing, friendly, very customer service and top food quality oriented. It is a take on the Mexican American Food and Dining Experience and a Top Notch experience at that. Restrooms were very clean and well maintained which is a very big thing for me, Now for the food! The food was well prepared, great quality ingredients, a lot of care is put into it, as I saw a tortilla that ripped as it was being put on the grill and they took it off and started another one, it is looking as they care so much about the quality, presentation and consistency they deliver and the finished product was and is outstanding, well presented and looking to outdo the rest of the restaurants in every way. The food we had was very tasty, well prepared, Abe the quantity for the price was well worth stopping here for lunch. I have driven past this place thousands of times and I guess being the snob that I am had written it off and thought I would never patronize it based on a weird location. But I started hearing good things about it, and I was all "the place on the freeway on-ramp?" When the choice was between the once local, now national chain mexi grill (that has gotten oh so boring) and this place, we jumped in with both feet. The place is really nice and clean inside. The service was really friendly. And boy o boy the food was good. I got the California Burrito. High quality steak, with fries, cheese and onions. It was delicious. A chain Mexican fast food restaurant. Ive seen them in California before but never stopped in before this time. Set up like a fast food place too, where you order at the counter and the seating is behind you. There are some tables and booths for seating. The menu has burrito combos with all the meats, chicken, pork and beef. I think they had seafood as well but I don't recall that. They also have sides and quesadillas and salads as well. I had the burrito combo and a cheese quesadilla as well. The food came out quick and it was good. Red and green hot sauce came with it on the side. There are kind of a crazy number of cheap Mexican food restaurants in Utah with almost the exact same menu. Alberto's is one of those, but it's by far the best. The food is cheap but quality, and always seems way more fresh than any of the other places. The people are always super cool. It seems like they have a great working environment in the back, so that definitely translates. The restaurant's also got a good vibe inside, although I usually just go through the drive thru, they're quick too. Like I said, cheap but quality. It's great. I've lived here for a long time and it's hard to find a better deal when I don't want to spend money. And I love either the vegetarian burrito (no rice, add sour cream), or the Chile Rellano burrito, add grilled chicken. Super bomb choices. They also have $1 bean and cheese minis which are a thousand times better than any small bean and cheese from Taco Bell. And also I recommend their churro, that's always pretty good. One time mine was cold in the center but that's probably the only complaint I've ever had. read more

This was the best decision I ever made on a Tuesday night ...... I was starving.... Dying..... my body was wilting away and I almost did the most stupid thing by ordering Uber eats but instead I pushed through the hanger and got my butt over to Alberto's. Yes, I ordered the grilled chicken salad because I didn't want to be bloated on a plane all day tomorrow but this was the best freakin salad I've had. Chicken cooked to perfection, not nastily salted or spiced, perfect amount of lettuce, beans, rice, pico, cojita and guacamole ..... and guess what I didn't have to pay extra for GUAC- wow imagine that :) also came with a nicely sliced lime on the side! They give you the perfect amount of - ON THE SIDE dressing .... Thank you because most places slather that stuff on and ruin the food! Oh and it was Tuesday .... Free horchata .... (There was 1 other car) We had just arrived so the "other car" couldn't have been waiting more than 30 seconds. Then, we received our order and as we were checking our order before driving off, he asked if something was wrong and we stated we were checking to ensure the entire order was there. Late night drinking? Drunk? What's the best way to sober up than greasy Mexican food. I dunno how many times have I ended up here late at night after a good night of fun and drinking. There is a window where if you come a bit later it is gonna be pack with later nighters drunk looking for food...I would recommend coming before 2:15 am, but I mean if you're drunk already it doesn't matter. The best thing here? I would totally recommend tacos de arrachera (I think that's how it's spelled. If you order two totally recommend getting the meal. It's worth it. Their burrito is super good though. I would totally order that over tacos instead. The service here is a hit or miss. Some days they are friendly while other days they are just over it. I'm guessing it all has to do with how many drunk people is being an A. But tacos is a drunk person best friend. Lol read more
