When you want some bang for your buck, Alberto's is the way to go. This place is as cheap as it gets--hands down. The amount of food is incredible, plentiful and will get you full. You will definitely have leftovers to take home and have a whole second meal. It is a lot like Beto's, so if you are a poor college student like me then this place is a life saver. I recently spent 5 days in Salt Lake City on Business - while I don't usually write reviews on businesses that I haven't visited at least 2 or 3 times, since it's doubtful I'll be back (or if so that I'll hit the same restaurant) I thought I would provide some general opinions. Alberto's was one of my favorite places in SLC - both for the very fair prices and wonderful flavors. At Alberto's you order at the counter from a fairly diverse menu - for the most authentic flavors go with the corn tortillas and the carne asada. I went hog wild and got several menu items (it was so inexpensive I wanted to try as much as possible). I ordered... #24 chicken fajitas/carne asada taco with rice and refried beans A single adobada taco (grilled, marinated pork with guacamole) A single fish taco Fountain drink The chicken fajitas were good but the carne asada taco "kicked butt" as we would say in Atlanta. The combination of the fresh guac and the slightly acidic meat was wonderful. The flavors were right on and similar to some of my favorite Mexican dives in Atlanta (Taco Veloz), although the flank steak was a bit chewier than I'm used to - either the lime wasn't given enough time to break up the connective tissue or the meat grade was a bit lower - I'm not sure. Still worth trying and the most authentic flavor I found on the menu. The refried beans were very basic - if I make it to SLC again I'm trying the black beans. The chicken fajitas were a bit light in portion but probably due to the combination and to make it affordable to produce. I loved the flavors of the adobada taco - presumably this had some of the flavors of the annatto (achotie) seed, providing a bit of earthiness and red color. Once again the spices and the guac made for a very satisfying mouth combination. The fish taco was lightly breaded with a good portion of fish - probably tilapia? I forgot to ask. I nice squeeze of lime made this delicious and filling for me. I managed to eat most of the entrees but started to balk on the beans and rice. In all the staff were very friendly and answered any questions I had. The only thing missing was some Tapatio sauce on the tables. The building is a converted pizza or similar joint so there's plenty of seating. You order at the counter and everything comes in take-out containers. Free fountain refills. It's borderline fastfood but a cut above. It can be a bit hard to get into and out of the lot (especially if you're going the opposite direction)... read more

My hubbs and I came here at like 2am on a Friday night and it was packed!! It was the only place open so it was our only choice. It was a short walk from the main downtown area of Salt Lake City where we were staying. The wait time was short even with the long line. I like this place, although not many vegetarian/vegan options. But my non-vegetarian friends love it. I happened to visit them when we were late from a trip and most of the restaurants were closed. I tried their veg burrito and veggie tacos with no sour cream and cheese. Both the items were moist and delicious. Mostly the filling of veggie tacos and burrito was same. For a non-vegetarian, this place has a lot to offer. My friend's fav is fish tacos and burritos after trying fish, grilled chicken, and shrimp. For a 24 hour availability on a weekday, it's a good way to satisfy a tired and hungry self. PS - this place is like McDonald's of Mexican food with variety of options. Came around 10 PM on a weeknight and there were a few other people in the restaurant. You order at the front counter and take a seat anywhere. We got the nacherito without carne Asada and the bean and cheese mini burrito. The nacherito was amazing!! The chips add a great crunch to the burrito and the filling is on point. The green sauce on this is amazing too - wasn't the biggest fan of the red sauce. The bean and cheese mini after the nacherito was a bit of a let down but that's just because it doesn't have the same caliber of filling. As a quick cheap easy burrito, this was delicious. Apparently Alberto's is the go-to place after late-night drinking since they're open all night. I wouldn't know, I just came here for lunch. The restaurant was surprisingly clean and comfortable on the inside, despite being a chain Mexican restaurant. There's a drive-thru if you don't feel like getting out of your car, or you can dine inside. I came here for the 5 rolled tacos for 6.99 deal. My food was ready within 5 minutes and the tacos came loaded with cheese and guacamole, yum. I ate 3 for lunch and saved 2 for the next day. The tacos were sooo much better the first day, so I would recommend eating all of your food in one sitting, if you can handle it. The tacos were tasty and I appreciated the generous amount of guacamole I was given. I wasn't amazed by the tacos and I felt they could have used a little more variety on the inside since they seemed to contain only meat, but you do get a good amount of food for the price you pay. read more

The food at Alberto's is great -- the flavors are strong, not overpowering, and portions are large. My favorites are the plates and burritos. Both make great leftovers, which is necessary because man are they filling! To be fair, I've only ordered delivery from here, and while each time the food was AMAZING, often my order is not right. For example, once I ordered a carne asada plate and a carnitas burrito, and instead I received a carne asada burrito and carnitas plate. The food is amazing, as stated, so I didn't care and dug right in, but it is a little disappointing to see that. Little mix-ups happened like that a few times I've ordered from here. Twice I didn't get any hot sauces, and while the carnitas are perfectly seasoned and the refried beans are bomb, I like to pour a little chile de arbol salsa on my food. So while sometimes my order wrong, it was always tasty, and the price difference for the item mix-ups was the same. I never felt cheated, just a little disappointed. Please try this restaurant. Needed a cheap dinner after a long day of exploring Salt Lake City. My sister and I were staying directly across the street at the Crystal Inn. We decided to drive over as they have a parking lot, but we totally could have just walked it if it wasn't super cold. It was pretty empty and there is an extensive menu. They have both a la carte options and combo plates. It wasn't super expensive and they do give you a lot of food. I ordered tacos expected the tiny street tacos and got huge sized soft tacos. They were very good. My sister got taquitos aka rolled tacos. Dhe also order some horchata, ehich is apparently free on Tuesdays. This place has a massive menu. Their food is on point too. I always get their chorizo breakfast burrito and this time I also got their tortas with carnitas. It was also fantastic. Overall I always come here because their food is good, I always dread coming here because their service is not. Not sure if the drive thru microphone and speaker are busted or just old but they cannot hear you and you cannot hear them. They also routinely forget something I ordered. Like this time I ordered Diet Pepsi, I ordered it three times and when I got my order I asked where the drink was and she said she forgot and then went to charge me for it, where I kindly declined. Alberto's has the BEST bean and cheese ratio, about 4x as much beans as cheese, and the beans are delicious. For what it is (cheap, 24 hour Mexican fast food), it's pretty good. The rolled tacos (not sure why they aren't called flautas?) were good, mainly because they were topped with LOADS of guacamole. Heart. My husband and I went for the breakfast burritos though, since we have been terribly missing Texas-style breakfast tacos. The burrito (bacon, egg, potato, and cheese) was massive and cheap with lots of bacon, which was good. The large, thin, and fresh tortilla was really good also. We are still missing breakfast tacos, but this was a decent distraction. I am hard to impress, but I can say that I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Alberto's is the absolute go to spot after a long day in SLC. Whether it's before or after sporting events, concerts, or any kind of event you can think of Alberto's is the spot to get affordable and great tasting Mexican food. I haven't been disappointed by anything there. I've ordered the super nachos, rolled tacos, and nacherito anf all are delicious. My favorite order is to get an order of the five rolled tacos with extra cheese and red enchilada sauce in top! Absolutely amazing combined with their guacamole. The sauce has a rich almost mole flavor, and has just the right amount of heat, although I do love to add their green salsa on top as well. Their horchata is delicious as well! The biggest thing that sets Alberto's apart from any other version or Beto's is the restaurant is clean! All of the tables are clean, the food space is right behind the counter and it's clean, and your shoes don't stick to the floor. If you go out at night for cheap Mexican food like I do and find yourself in Salt Lake City you have to check out Alberto's! read more

2018 was a great year for me. My friend Andrew brought us here for lunch a few times. Seeing the menu I assumed it was just another Betos. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. The size was slightly smaller than a Betos burrito but the meat was 100% good. No chewy pieces in here, so yes I'm happy with that! What moved me over the top though was the red salsa you get to take to your table. I put some of that salsa and every single bite and every single bite was (my mouth is watering as I write this) exquisite. I think I'm going to head to Albertos this weekend. We all need good burritos in our lives and it's critically important to know where you can get a consisently excellent one. I've added Alberts to my list, you should too! read more
