I recently visited alcove with a few of my teammates for dinner. We were all pretty hungry, so we ordered multiple things to share and then also got individual entrées. We ordered the gnocchi, bread and butter board, buffalo cauliflower, and roasted squash dip. The squash dip and the bread and butter board were definitely the favorites. The butter was truly amazing and some of my favorite butter ever. I think I might go back just for that. The squash dip was unique and flavorful. I felt it would do a little better on a fall menu, but it was delicious and I did enjoy it. The buffalo cauliflower and gnocchi were just OK. For our entrées, we got fish and chips, but subbed the fries for the kale salad. The fish was good, and I really enjoyed the salad. However, the tartar sauce was actually kind of rough. It tasted nothing like any tartar sauce I've had before. I prefer a tartar sauce to be tangy, zesty, pickle-y, etc.. This one truly tasted like it was somehow flour based. I really feel that the tartar sauce greatly adds to a fish and chips meal, so I was pretty disappointed. I asked for an order of lemon aïoli, and use that instead. The coleslaw that came with the meal was pretty good! We ordered some fun drinks as well. I got a mock tail that was carrot based. It was decent, but I don't think I would order it again. One of my teammates had the bartender make her something like a margarita. Sadly, it was a little too sour and she wasn't able to finish it. The space itself is gorgeous! We had such a nice time sitting on the patio. Our server was also amazing. Super friendly and accommodating, and truly cared that we had a good experience.

Oh my goodness, this place was amazing and completely unexpected. So happy to see that. They have repurpose a very historic building in the Over the Rhine district of Cincinnati. So glad we went. Loved the live plants, our server Nathan was absolutely top-notch. I would absolutely request him again. We loved our meal and learning about this beautiful space. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

It's super cute in here. The dining room is bright, with wood floors and plenty of greenery. They have a cool enclosed patio/bar area that also has an outdoor patio attached. I can only imagine how busy this place gets in the warmer months! To start, we shared the bread and butter board, roasted squash dip, and the potato gnocchi. We felt the dishes were just ok across the board - the star of the show was the bread and butter by far! Yum. For my entree I ordered the caesar salad with grilled salmon, 7/10. Our server let us know that their cocktails are batched, so modifications aren't possible. I think this is a nice spot to grab a drink and socialize! Still not sure about the food just yet.

Service was top notch! From the host, to the servers, to the manager - we received excellent service. We made a reservation for 7pm and our table was ready when we arrived. It was a beautiful evening but we decided to sit inside for our meal. The outdoor seating and patio area is very cute though! The food was great! We started with the hummus plate... Hands-down, the best hummus ever! Then we ordered a mocktail... I ordered the lavender blueberry mocktail, which was very good but a little too sweet for me so I added some water to it. My partner ordered the honey ginger refresher which was really good. We ordered the salmon meal and the fried chicken sandwich meal. Everything was great! Will be returning very soon!

My friends and I walked in Sunday afternoon and luckily they could seat the 5 of us inside. There were tables outside but in a covered patio so it was a bit chilly for March. The inside is bright, with beautiful plants everywhere. We ordered brunch and I had the loaded breakfast hash, thinking it would be a larger portion based on what my friend previously experienced. It was a smaller portion than expected and I should have added eggs. The shortrib was cooked well but it was pricey at $17 for a not filling meal.

This was my first time here and I am definitely going to give them repeat business. Friendly, smiling faces welcomed me in and the server was very helpful with suggestions and answering menu questions. I was with a group of individuals and the server didn't miss a beat. The place is spacious and great for groups of all sizes. The lighting and decor were both perfect. The noise level was moderate. And the food is both pleasing to the eye as well as the taste buds!!! The fried chicken sandwich was SO delicious. Please, if you're on the fence about keeping or removing the cucumbers, I beg you to give it a try WITH them. Everything that comes on the sandwich is what makes it so perfect. I also suggest extra sauce on the side - it's yummy!

I went here on my fall break vacation with Matt and Michael. They have a great selection of drinks, really interesting food on the menu and the nicest staff in Ohio. I had the cider and would walk barefoot back to Ohio to have another. Also the host had the coolest Mohawk of any living human even. Don't waste you youth with a bad haircut.

I recently visited here for a quick lunch before a meeting. Parking was easy in the 3cdc lot adjacent. Upon entering I was instantly greeted by a very friendly staff member. She offered me my choice of places to sit and I chose the bar by the beautiful living plant wall. To start I had the fauxjito, which was a watermelon mojito mocktail. I was a little disappointed as it lacked much flavor. It was light and refreshing but a little pricey. For my food I had the Kale and Brussels salad with added chicken breast. I loved the combo of ingredients in the base salad, the chicken was just ok. The size was a bit small for what I am used to as an entree salad. The other 2 bartenders were very nice and helpful as well. I would come back again just for the service and atmosphere. There is a very nice greenhouse as well as an outdoor patio that I would like to check out next time!

This restaurant is beautiful. The plant walls and the hanging ferns are fantastic. We made a reservation for 2:00 on a Sunday for a meal before a matinee. I was surprised to find we were there for brunch; it was a pleasant surprise. Mark had Loaded Potato Hash - short rib, pickled red onion, cheddar cheese, roasted red pepper relish, sour cream. He didn't comment on the flavor details, but he did say it was delicious. I ordered Avocado Toast - pickled red onion, roasted red pepper relish with a side of goetta. The avocado toast was fantastic. In my experience it's odd to find actual sliced avocado on avocado toast. Seems it's usually smashed up, sometimes with different ingredients added in, but not at Alcove. The dish was clean and delicious. The onions and roasted red pepper relish provided a perfect foil for the creamy avocado. The toast was slightly buttered. I did have to eat it with a knife and fork, which was okay by me. I enjoyed this dish. The toast came with hash browns, which were little balls of crispy on the outside/potato flaky on the inside perfection. My goetta came late to the table. In fact, I had to ask if it was ready, knowing all along it had to be ready, just forgotten. I am glad I didn't tell our server to just forget it because it was delightful. I don't know who made it, but it was not the major brand found at the grocery. The best thing - it wasn't greasy/oily. It was purely delicious. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. There's a parking garage very close by, making eating at Alcove easy peasy. We'd definitely come back.

Went to alcove for dinner for the patio! It was a gorgeous day and their patio is lovely. Our server was very nice and attentive. I had the tofu sandwich, the tofu was delicious but the sandwich overall got a little soggy. Great experience and yummy drinks too!

Cocktails were fabulous, food was delish, but honestly the ambience was my favorite part. And of course I didn't get any photos of the space because we were so busy looking at each other! They have a cute little party room in the back, essentially it felt like we were eating in a greenhouse! The plants everywhere was my favorite part. Also got an espresso martini flight, they had a seasonal martini that was pumpkin spice, and a s'mores, as well as an original, and a salted caramel option! They were delicious! My steak was wonderful. Everyone else loved their meal. It was so tasty, but my sister said it was the most bland meal of her life... She got a roasted chicken and carrots. Otherwise, the bread and butter was the best part and I *shocker* didn't take a photo. Was a great experience!

Cute place in Over The Rhine Cincinnati. Went here for a quick lunch to celebrate my nephews 21st bday and the food didn't disappoint. We ordered, fish and chips, chicken sandwich and the pot pie along with Mac and cheese. The fish needed a tad bit more salt but everything was good and we will be back to give them repeat business. The only thing I would have them get rid of is the coleslaw. It lacked flavor. It was red cabbage that was wet and everything else about it was NOT good. Dj provided great service and his drinks were good. The espresso martini flight was just okay. Overall I give them a 10/10 for being esthetically pleasing and an 8/10 on food. Check them out!

Alcove was such a vibe, and I loved the aesthetic. I really appreciate all the live plants, and the bar area is very cool being a greenhouse. We came in to celebrate a birthday, and had made reservations online for our larger group. They sat us in a private room which was perfect! I ordered the quiche which was served with potatoes and a salad. The quiche was good but came out a bit cold. Next the potatoes, these were absolutely delicious and I have never tasted potatoes seasoned and prepared like this, so good! The salad was also very good, and I liked the dressing. The service was great, our waitress was attentive and checked in to refill our coffees and water. Parking was also super easy, as there is a paid lot directly beside the restaurant which was great. read more

This restaurant is beautiful! All of the plants are real and I could've looked at that alone for a while! Our server was so kind. We were celebrating a birthday and she gave us a mimosa flight free of charge. We got the quiche and avocado toast, both of which were delicious. The potato's on the side were so crispy and yummy. Came and tried their bread board, potatoes, smash burger and fried chicken and I must say each and every flavor was tasted and they were delicious. We visited Alcove for Valentine's Day which was a really great experience. We didn't have to book a reservation extremely ahead of time and the specialty cocktails were amazing! We got the hummus spread as an appetizer which was great for 2, but not enough for 4 people. The service was on top of our water and drinks and was extremely helpful in recommendations. The tables were spaced apart enough to not be on top of one another. They have an outside portion which would be nice in the spring and summer. I ended up getting the tofu sandwich which was amazing! All of us were full by the time we left with lots of laughs and a great time. read more

Awesome option for a brunch or lunch spot if you are downtown Cincinnati! Conveniently located right in the middle of OTR. I've been here a couple times, but I'm still impressed every single time I walk in. The plants in the space are just beautiful and it always smells amazing. We started off with coffee and a hummus plate. The veggies were super fresh and crunchy. We love that they toasted the pita. For our meals, we ordered the potato hash and their seasonal quiche. Both were delicious and fresh! I would definitely come back and try their bakery board, a lot of people ordering their cinnamon rolls and they looked incredible. read more

We had a great Sunday brunch for our group of ten to celebrate three birthdays near the holidays. Wonderful personal service at the big table in the semi-private side room and the food and drinks were outstanding - we had goetta sandwiches with home fries balls, a breakfast burger quiches with a delicious side salad and the sangria cocktail, Bloody Mary's and several of the beers. I finally made it Alcove for lunch. The ambiance is simply beautiful and has a cute room in the back for a small private party as well as a "green room" bar that is enclosed during the winter which adds a nice vibe. Regarding food, I tried the fried chicken sandwich and my coworker tried the cod which she really enjoyed. The chicken sandwich was decent however, something was missing. I tried a piece of the chicken that didn't have sauce on it and it didn't taste like it was seasoned so maybe that was the miss. The fries and the sauce were good and tasted like a mayo/ ketchup concoction which I love. This was a great pick for a quick lunch and the staff were wonderful. I will definitely try them again and try something different on the menu. read more

Solid experience at Alcove by MadTree. We ordered the club and the chicken, and both were tasty, well prepared, and filling. The space was comfortable with nice amenities, a living wall, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall a great spot for a relaxed birthday meal - plus a free birthday dessert! We had a wonderful time at "Alcove" last night. The ambience is very modern, chique and welcoming. For our appetizer we ordered the charcuterie board and the cheeses were AMAZING! My husband is not a fan of charcuterie but said that this was the first board he ever truly enjoyed. For our main dishes we ordered the lamb leg and the fried chicken sandwich respectively. Both were absolutely scrumptious. The star however were the crispy potatoes! I highly recommend adding those to your order! It was delicious. The service was great as well. I am sure we will be returning during future visits to Cincinnati. read more

My wife and I were walking around downtown, looking for a nice spot for dinner. We enjoy MadTree, so when we saw this was by the same people, we decided to stop in. We didn't have a reservation, but the host said if we waited about ten minutes they could give us a spot on the patio. It was a bit warm out, but we agreed. After about ten minutes he said they actually had a cancellation inside, so we were able to snag an air conditioned spot. The mains looked really tasty--the salmon and lamb leg caught my eye--but were a little pricier than we were looking to spend at the time. I opted for the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the Bistro Fries, and my wife chose the Peach & Quark Salad, adding tofu. Our waitress was very attentive, refilled waters routinely, and our food was brought out without a long wait. The Fried Chicken Sandwich had a homemade quality, and I mean that in the best way possible. Crispy breading with juicy chicken, sweet and spicy honey chili crisp glaze, and a nice sourness from the marinated cucumbers. The sandwich came with hot, well-seasoned fries and a delicious aioli to dip them in. My wife was already a huge fan of quark--a sheep's cheese--and the spiced quark on her salad was phenomenal. Sweet peaches, well-seasoned tofu, and fresh greens. The jalapeno vinaigrette was tasty as well, though was a bit sparse on the salad. I wouldn't say I'm picky, but I do have a high bar for food, and I told my wife that I wouldn't change a thing about this meal; it was absolutely delicious. $17 each for a sandwich + fries and a salad would generally be a knock against the restaurant, but I was so satisfied with the food that it didn't bother me. Will definitely be back. read more

Service was very long, despite being considerate of a Valentines Day rush, even though we reserved seats. Many people seated after us ordered, ate, paid, and left before we were served. The food once serviced to the table was met with napping gazes and disappointment with both portion size and flavor in the pot pie and sausage and potatoes. The alcoholic beverages were well made, but all it did was make an overcrowded atmosphere worse. Traveled to Cincy last weekend for a concert and began the weekend at Alcove for lunch on Friday and loved it! The food was great, the beers and drinks were even better (LOVE the sways!) and the ambience in the courtyard with all the plants was awesome. Everyone was friendly and it was a great jumping off point. But I really want to shout out our waitress Claire who gave my friend and I so many recommendations about fun places to go and things to do in the neighborhood for the weekend, and she was spot on about all of them. Love the bright, plant-filled ambiance of this space! I've come for brunch, dinner, and drinks, and enjoyed it all. Their garden salad is great anytime, the bistro fries a a good starter to share, and I love their drinks, from their wines to their Sways. Their cocktails and small bites are my favorite, and happy hour is a great time to catch them! Monday - Friday from 4-6 they have food and drink specials. Service speed can vary based on how busy they are, but the servers are always friendly and make great recommendations. A beautiful little oasis in the midst of OTR. The menu is just wide enough to cover many tastes, without being too expansive. I loved the mimosa flight, especially the apple which had a cider feel I wasn't expecting. Quiche was really good and the charcuterie board included an apple butter that is up there with the best I've ever tasted. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the hashbrown casserole, which was actually a hashbrown ball. Perhaps a bit over cooked, but it just wasn't great and I likely wouldn't get it again. We stopped here for drinks after our guided tour of the area. They have a nice beer selections and we shared the spinach dip appetizer which was super yummy! Our tour guide explained the historical significance of the building, but you wouldn't know about it from the inside. Be aware it will be FAST. Look at the order ahead of time if you're a picky eater/drinker. They run your appointment like clockwork, and you'll be in-and-out, gulping down cocktails, through the entire experience. Your two drinks are included (this year, anyway), and I'd honestly be surprised if you managed to have time for a third. Time zips by fast. That being said, because they do it this way, you essentially have constant service, there's "events" that happen at the end of your reservation time, (I don't want to spoil it, but cover your drink!), and then they kick you out. Service was friendly, though, and I saw the server make time to take group photos for all of the tables (including ours) with someone at the table's camera. (No bullshit "group photo" upsells here) It's kinda loud, though, and I wouldn't recommend this as a chill meet-up-and-socialize spot. (If you wanna talk, they have an addendum, Christmas-themed laid-back bar next door.) It's more of a "get blasted in the face by Christmas for an hour and then leave" experience. It's pretty loud, and talking can be a bit difficult over the music and constant interruptions (more drinks? Photos? Cute Christmas video montage?) But this works in its favor as it feels the most Christmas, over-the-top, and seasonal out of all the holiday bars I've ever been to. (Sidenote, I was absolutely taken aback by their TV presentation on the wall. It's hard to describe, but it isn't just a projector showing a giant rectangle. It's specifically slotted into the holes in-between holiday decorations. Without the spinach and artichoke al forno and chicken and spinach manicotti, there's no longer any reason to patronize Maggiano's.

I ordered the espresso martini and pink dragon margarita and I was highly satisfied with both. The espresso martini being my favorite! I also ordered the edamame, the carnivore pizza, and the calamari. Im not a big fan of mushrooms but tried the shiitake Noodles and I loved it. The mushrooms are big enough to pick out or push to the side and just eat the noodles which is what I did. Everything we had was great and I will definitely be back.

I scheduled reservations for an early dinner on New Year's Eve at Alcove. Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling with several parties waiting to be seated. Despite the crowd, we were seated after a short 10-minute wait, which was appreciated given the holiday rush. Service was a bit slow initially--our waiter took a while to acknowledge us, likely due to how busy the restaurant was. By the time he arrived, we had already decided on our appetizer and entrees. Unfortunately, when our appetizers arrived, they came without plates. My date and I had to awkwardly navigate eating without making a mess until I flagged down the hostess to request some. Interestingly, I noticed other tables receiving plates before their appetizers, so this inconsistency was a bit disappointing. Our entrees followed shortly after the appetizers. We both ordered the braised lamb leg with roasted vegetables. As a first-timer trying lamb leg, I found the dish reminiscent of pot roast. The meat was tender but lacked seasoning, though a little salt and pepper helped enhance the flavor. Dessert was the star of the evening! We ended with a chocolate fudge cake topped with blueberries and blackberries. While the berries seemed like an odd pairing initially, they worked beautifully with the icing. The Alcove has quickly become one of my go-to spots for drinks. I've been there a few times and it's one of the rare places that excels in both beer and cocktails. This isn't surprising, considering the the connection to MadTree On my most recent visit, I finally had the chance to try the food, and it did not disappoint. The chicken sandwich stood out as a highlight, and the fries were also tops. The quality of the food matched the high standards set by the drinks. The service was commendable, even under pressure. We visited on the same day as an FC game, so the entire restaurant was packed at once. Despite the rush, the staff remained kind and helpful. They even apologized for any perceived delay and offered us a free appetizer, which was a thoughtful gesture. However, we didn't feel it was necessary, as everything came out in a timely manner. What really sets The Alcove apart is its unique atmosphere. The space is divided into different sections, including a modern wooden restaurant area, a greenhouse, and a garden. Each area has its own charm, making it a versatile spot whether you're in the mood for a casual drink or a more formal dinner. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Alcove by Madtree last night, and wow what a find! Walking in felt like stepping into a whimsical little realm tucked away from the ordinary. The space itself has such a quirky, enchanting vibe that immediately makes you want to linger and soak it all in. Now, let's talk food: I ordered the crispy tofu sandwich and it was phenomenal. Perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor it's the kind of dish that makes you forget you're even eating tofu.
