It was New Year's Eve, and our first time dining here, primarily to eat well but also to be where "Avatar: Fire & Ash" was playing in the Orleans movie theater, to view the 3 hr. 18 min. film into and beyond the midnight hour after first eating and engaging in some slot play inside the casino. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. A mobile Bread Basket came around with fine Sourdough, Parmesan Lavosh, and White Chocolate Walnut Bread. Then we enjoyed a Shrimp Cocktail with colossal sweet and meaty shrimp, plus tasty Rock Shrimp Tempura with Sweet & Spicy Chili Sauce. And I had a hot and cheesy Onion Soup with Gruyere Cheese and Sherry, and an attractive-looking ABCD Wedge Salad with Pickled Red Onions, Crumbled Danish Blue Cheese, Danish Blue Cheese Dressing, and Thick Cut Smoked Bacon. Diane and I both ordered Surf and Turf, which consisted of 8 oz. Filets and 10 oz. Cold Water Australian Lobster Tails. The Filets were especially delicious, except they arrived at our booth cold, with the lobster cool. Our entrees were removed for further heating, and soon came back hot and with my Filet still medium rare as I desired. Bearnaise Sauce and Demi-Glace Red Wine Sauce enhanced the taste of my steak, and the Wild Mushroom Gratinee and crunchy Duck Fat Fries just added to a great repast. To top off a fine meal I indulged in a generous slice of New York Style Cheesecake served with Strawberry Sauce and accompanied by Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries. The sea bass wasn't that flavorful and wasn't the thick, buttery Chilean sea bass I was expecting. The tummy tastes and learns...all good. The wagyu beef meatballs, duck fat fries, lavash from the bread tray, and lemon tart stood out for me!! Wagyu beef meatballs: Fillling and delicious with the bread toasted in oil! Duck fat fries: Say no more!! Once you go with duck fat, no other fry compares to the crispness! Lavash: This is more like a lavish cracker with a slight cheddar cheese flavor to it. Fun to munch on! Reminded me of a thin cheeze-it, heehee! Lemon tart: The lemon half made of white chocolate is amazing as it looks and feels so real!! The tart crust was so buttery and crisp, and for those who like lemon desserts, the lemon flavor was strong with this one (in a good way)! I'm disappointed, but I have never seen this place inside of the Orleans Casino before. I would've already been there. But now that I know we will definitely go back. My friend and I walked in on a Saturday and ate dinner at the bar, no waiting. The mushrooms were my favorite, but it was all tasty. We shared a bottle of wine, nice selections at a decent price. The service was friendly and the bartender was engaging, although busy as he serves the entire bar. Luckily the smoke of the casino does NOT waft in. I would go again when in Vegas. Great experience at the Orleans. Starting off with your meal with a bread basket this basket is enormous with variety of different bread that you can try and it's unlimited so indulge. Try all of them get multiple ones. Take some to go. Next, the sides definitely recommend the duck fat french fries they were the biggest hit across everyone we were sitting by we tried the Gouda mac & cheese wasn't really my thing, but it wasn't a bad dish would definitely want to try the blue cheese, scallop potatoes, or the enormous baked potato loaded. We had two different cuts of steak 16 ounce New York strip was amazing. I'm more of a medium steak person, but the medium came across more medium rare but still it was delicious. Try it paired with the Madagascar peppercorn sauce and you can't go wrong. we also had the 8 ounce fillet, which was amazing but would pass on any sauce mixed with this cut of steak. The ambience is very romantic, quiet and very intimate. The servers were amazing always made sure we were looked after. Went here a yr ago & thought it was the most amazing enough my bro wanted to come back for the holidays. This was not even close to last experience. They didn't have the bottle of wine on the short list 1st, then the wedge salad didn't have the glaze that made the salad instead brought me a vinaigrette terrible. The steak came out well when I asked for medium rare & had to ask for it to be redone. King crab seemed like it was done for a while, not warm & butter was sitting out. After a 9-10 hour drive from Long Beach to Las Vegas (traffic due to spilled chemical on the 15 in July), I was starving! My friend, who lives there, took me out to dinner here, after I dropped off everything in the hotel room, to make me feel better and celebrate my bday! Awww! What a special treat! We stayed at the Orleans last week for some basketball tournaments and decided to try this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised on how upscale the restaurant was, the servers were very attentive and the food was pretty fantastic!! I only gave four stars because of the appetizer I don't even know what the name of it was, but it had oysters, clams, crab, shrimp and lobster I believe. I personally thought that would've been fantastic hot rather than cold could've just put the cold oysters/(shrimp too) on ice in a bowl on one side since it was only two of each of them. Each bite I just kept thinking "Golly, why is this not a hot appetizer?" Don't get me wrong It was good, I just think hot it would've been great. And call it the icy hot lol! The steak almost melted in my mouth. The crab cakes reminded me of Maryland so meaty, thick and filling. The spinach was tasty. I tried all four of their breads and an extra glass of wine to wash it all down. I personally was too full for desserts so I can't comment on them, but if they're like diner you should definitely dabble! read more

Extremely underwhelming. Great service but absolutely no flavor on the steaks. My friend got the ribeye and I got the New York. We both take our first bites and just look at each other quietly. I say it first dos yours have any flavor? " none at all" the bread was delicious mushrooms were great but dare I say a Costco hot dog would blow my steak out of the water. For seeing such excellent reviews and a $275 tab never would I dare think of going here again. First, let me say I really want to go back and eat here again. Even though it wasn't a 5-star experience, I enjoyed it very much and I think it could be 5 stars! We were early for our table so the hostess suggested we sit at the bar. Mind you the table that we were sat at, I could see from the bar and it was empty and set when we sat down at the bar so I'm not sure why they wouldn't seat us early. The bar tender seemed so sad. I really hope it was just an off day for him. But we weren't greeted when we sat. We had to ask for a menu after sitting for about 5 minutes. We definitely weren't made to feel welcomed :( We ordered the Raspberry lemon martini. It was so good, but dangerous because you could barely taste any alcohol but it was strong. We were told we had to pay our tab before sitting at the table. We asked to have the tab billed to the table. The bar tender acted like this was a strange request. We explained we were paying with points. After some discussion with the manager they said no problem. After sitting it was about 10 minutes before the bus boy came to fill the water and another 5 before they offered us some cold bread. When our waiter came we explained we had only an hour to eat because we were going to a concert and asked how backed up the kitchen was in case we needed to modify our orders to ensure we got out on time. The waiter was friendly but never asked us if we had been there before, if we wanted any suggestions or mentioned any specials. We ordered the beet salad (excellent), the crab soup (eh, tasted and smelled fishy), French onion soup (delish) and a Cesar salad (very good and the Parmesan crisp was an amazing touch). Sorry I forgot to take pics of the apps because my friend spilt her almost full martini all over the table and floor. The waiter did replace it on the house which was very nice, but not necessary. We were appreciative though. I had the scallops and my friend had the filet and we got the mashed potato's as a side. The scallops were perfectly cooked. I loved the sauces. To me, it needed more seasoning to bring out the flavors. But I'd definitely order it again. My friend enjoyed her filet. She had it cooked medium well (yuck) so I didn't try it. She wasn't asked if she wanted a steak sauce when ordering. Later on she asked for it and they only offered A1 or Heinz 57, which I thought was strange since the other steak sauces they offer are usually yummy. Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert because we had to get to the show. The waiter did offer to get us another drink to-go since it was a long walk to the venue. This was much appreciated. We paid with points and left a 25% tip. Again, there were just too many small things to give it 5 stars. However, I still really enjoyed it and want to go back when we are not rushed and try some other items. I will always get the best salad every time and I don't think I'd ever get the crab soup again. Just some constructive feedback in case anyone reads these reviews: - bartenders should always greet customers and make them feel welcomed. Unfortunately this didn't happen this time. - Identical drinks should be identical. One shouldn't have a toothpick with a lemon and no sugar rim and the other had no lemon and a sugar rim. - when seated, it would be nice to be welcomed shortly after. Sitting for 10 mins just looking around, needing refills, and just waiting is awkward. - please give recommendations or ask if we want recommendations. We came there expecting to spend a few hundred and ended up spending about half. If things were recommended or described, we probably would have gotten more. - I did mark on the reservation that it was my birthday. Nothing was ever acknowledged. That was kinda a bummer. Since that visit, I have dreamed about the next time I would be in Vegas so I could dine here again and order the DELICIOUS mushroom side. The sides are easily big enough for two or more ppl so we only ordered two which was still a lot of food for us, especially if you get an appetizer or first course. The bread and water service staff were very attentive. We usually go early evening after a movie and have never had a problem getting in asap without a reservation. Prices are reasonable as we were able to have dinner for two ( 2 soups, two prime rib, two sides, dessert, coffee and a bottle of red wine) for under $200 before tip. We have being dining at The Orleans since they opened. Our favorite restaurant, Canal Street, closed years ago. We decided to try Alder & Birch for Valentine's Day. What a great choice we made-did not disappoint! We were even fortunate to have Andrya as our server. She had previously worked at Canal street. I did not even have to give her my specifics on how I wanted my steak or sides. She remembered I had the filet, delicious, and the Caesar salad. The dressing was probably the best I have had as well as the filet. My husband had the salmon and chopped salad and thoroughly enjoyed. My mom had the beef short ribs and they were so tender. I The ambience was cozy yet sophisticated. Service was great. Anytime our water was a 2/3 full, it was refilled. We started with the meatballs, marinara and toasted bread. I thought it was good, but nothing to write home about. For meals, I had the filet mignon and my husband had the prime rib. The filet mignon was perfectly tender and had great flavor. The prime rib was a good price and cooked as ordered, though slightly less flavorful. But my husband loved the portion size. For sides we got the mashed Boursin potatoes, which were delicious. We could have shared that between us as a single side. We hardly ate the French fries we ordered because they were too thick for my preference. I prefer a thinner, crispy fry. I would skip these. The restaurant was warm and relaxing and we enjoyed that the ambiance allowed for conversation. Andrya was our server and she was great. This was a surprisingly good off strip steakhouse dining experience! Reservations are easily made on their website and are highly recommended. The interior is very impressive! High quality and contemporary decor. I particularly liked the dark wood finishes and the glass between booths for extra privacy. The server was fairly friendly but not quite up to the standard of a place of this caliber. No review of the menu, no overall welcome, and very limited follow-up. I had the Bramble cocktail which was quite delicious and strong. I had a glass of red wine later (I can't remember which one), and it was smooth and very tasty. For starters we had the shrimp cocktail and tempura rock shrimp. Both were excellent! The cocktail had fresh and sweet shrimp with no fishy or ocean taste. The tempura shrimp were perfectly breaded and not oily. We then shared a Caesar salad which we were bizarrely charged $5 to split. We have done this many times before at high end restaurants and never been charged a split fee before. Oh well. The salad itself was extremely tasty and fresh. I had the 7 oz filet mignon entree. It was tasty but honestly not the same fork tender as I've had at other top Vegas steakhouses. We tried a variety of sides which were fairly standard, but the grilled cream of corn was the standout. Delicious with a wonderful maple flavor that was not overpowering. It also had a slightly crunchy crust that was perfect. I had the banana rum cake dessert. A perfect size for one, it was moist and packed the perfect balance of rum and banana flavor. At the end of the meal we wanted to take some leftovers to go. The table busser plunked down some plastic containers and walked away. This was kind of tacky. Restaurants of this caliber typically whisk your leftovers away and return them bagged and packaged. Overall this was better than expected for an off strip high end steakhouse and is worth a visit! read more

Going to a show at the Orleans and wanted to have a nice dinner before the show. No problem getting a reservation at the time we needed. Free valet parking. A big plus compared to going to eat at many a strip or downtown hotel. Shortly after we were shown our table, Drew, our server, came by to greet us and get our drink orders. Next, the busboy came by with the bread service. Very impressive. Huge array of 4 or 5 choices of breads to choose from. I went with a focaccia, a raisin walnut and a flatbread (easy to fill up on the breads when they are that good and you have almost no self control). For our entree, my wife and I shared the bone in ribeye ($74). It was perfectly prepared and sliced for us. We got a side of wild mushrooms ($13). Also delicious. Service was spectacular throughout the meal. Water glasses were never allowed to get even half full. The room itself is lovely. The booths are fairly private and the noise level is very quiet. Only gripe - a $10 sharing charge. It is not like they had to plate it separately - they just brought out the steak on one plate same as if I was eating it by myself. We took a quick taxi ride to the Orleans, and we were looking for a bite to eat. We had plans to see Jersey Boys while we were in Vegas, and this restaurant was right next to the theater. Drew B. was our server, and he did a fantastic job. Before our meal, we were shown a colossal basket of bread. There were so many different options to choose from, and they all looked delicious. We were given one of each to try. My favorite was the chocolate walnut bread. I ordered the Orleans prime rib, and it was thick and savory. We also had the New York steak Oscar style, and that was delicious as well. For a side, we went with the Gouda Mac and Cheese. That was also so decadent!
