Great Store, Great Food, Great Prices. But what comes with the 3 Greats is horrible basket packing. Here's the deal... you pay a quarter for a basket, you shop for great bargains, you get in line, grab your bags and then the cashier starts to ringing up your wonderful things until they start to throw your beautiful picked items in the basket as if it's garbage. Bread gets smashed, stuff is everywhere and it's like the don't give a damn that you eventually want to eat these things. I guess they are in a rush and it definitely reflects in the quality of service you get a check out. It's sad because you can hear the food just hit the basket like "clank, clank, clank" Just to prove a point, I have posted 3 pictures from 3 different shopping experiences. I hope someone from corporate considers a food basket safety training or basket delivery care training for its employees because I have asked them to deliver my items to the basket nicely and this seems to be the end result every time, so I have come to the conclusion this is what it is and apparently this is how they are trained Which is sad. Although at Aldi you are required to pack your own goods, the basket delivery care can be done with some sort of skill. read more

My new go-to grocery store! Prices are low since they use brands nobody has heard of, but the food is still just as good as name brand foods. In fact, they have their own version of the Samoa/Caramel Delight Girl Scout Cookies, and they taste exactly the same, but cost just over $1 for a pack of 18 cookies! Sorry, Girl Scouts, I'll be buying these cookies fr Aldi from now on! I usually buy milk, juice, eggs, granola bars, cereal, chips, and some produce at this store, and i always spend anywhere from $0.50-$3 per item. I'd be lying if I said everything I've gotten here tasted good though. I didn't like their version of Cheetos, and mixed dried fruit. Tip: bring your own shopping bags and prepare to bag your own groceries (another way they keep prices low since they don't have a bag boy/girl on payroll) Tip: bring a quarter to rent a shopping cart if you need one. There are no baskets. I usually get a cart or just put my items in my own shopping bag. You get your quarter back when you return the cart to the front of the store (another way they keep prices low since they don't have to pay someone to fetch carts all over the parking lot) read more

This location is very conveniently located near the Buena Park mall. It is very clean and the people are nice. Sometimes the cashiers are on their phone and ignores you which gets annoying but it is what it is. read more

I was really looking forward to this store opening. However, I was so disappointed. With all the Fresh and Easy stores closing I was hoping Aldi would be similar. I found the store difficult to navigate because yhe aisles have mixed items. I also didn't like that they had food on the same isle as the insecticide. You also have to bring bags with you, they don't supply them. I won't be going back there. read more

I like Aldi's short wait lines, fast checkout, and great prices! I usually shop for groceries at Walmart, Costco, and other larger stores; however, it can become difficult to find things cause the other stores are so large. It's easy to find what I need at Aldi. I have been coming to this Aldi for a few weeks. Every single time the cashiers are rude. It's mandatory 6 feet apart and without fail this one cashier puts multiple peoples items into the same shopping cart. He doesn't care. I even told him I haven't collected my items. He said I know and kept throwing another woman's items into my cart. Yesterday I was in the produce section and noticed a woman talking with the manager. Her kids didn't have face masks on and the manager didn't tell her to have her kids put masks over their faces. Same woman was ahead of me in line and was buying over the limit of items. The cashier brought it up and she just goes "well I know the manager and he told me I could". How is that fair that 1 person gets to buy twice the quantity of everyone else. A solid three stars! After much anticipation hearing about Aldi for months on the radio, I was hoping for stars and sparkles when I walked in but was quickly disappointed. To start off, yes the prices are pretty competitive but not everything is a better deal than would be at the local market like Ralph's. I did find some great bargains for vegetables and fruits. For example, a pound of strawberries for $1.29 and portobello mushrooms for $.89. They do have good pricing for frozen bagged fish like salmon and tilapia for less than $10 and a tub of ice cream for $2.49. But, you'll see nothing but no name brands never heard of. I guess that's the catch with shopping at a place like Aldi. I was surprised to see that they had some name brand cereals but almost 99% of the store will be generic brands. I wasn't really willing to take the chance and buy brands that I never heard of... Who knows what the taste would be like? It'll just be a waste of money. Also, bring your own bags or pay $.10 for paper and $.15 for plastic bags. Plus you need a quarter to use a shopping cart, of course you get that back when you return the cart. I did like that idea! They have descend food choices. My family and come here when we are on a tight budget. The cashiers are not friendly. They are rude and impatient. We have been here about 3 times. The food choices are inconsistent but we always find something. I am very disappointed with how we are treated. The cashiers never smile. The first time we were there we were expected to know what to do with out explanation. The girl acted as if we were stupid. If they don't like there job that's not my problem. Visited Aldi's for the first time and to my surprise prices ARE slightly lower than other grocery stores. Specially the ground turkey, chicken and eggs, now that was a deal. Although I have to say all of the employees look very unhappy and unapproachable. The cashier that helped us (which I will not mention her name) was rude. As I mentioned before it was my first time and I didn't know that the cashiers do not bag your groceries. I would have appreciated it they just told me that they don't bag your food rather than me trying to figure out what the look was for. Aldi is a cost effective compact grocery store on the same model as Trader Joe. Its a quick in and out theme. The prices are all very low , Olive oil and coconut oil bottle for $3 only. I bought a grocery cart full of packets and the total cost was $50. I am going to come back the Bananas were 0.3 cents per pound. read more

My friend has been begging me to come check out what Aldi's is all about. I wasn't too impressed by their prices, but they have a lot of things. Their fish and meat are on the high end for price but the veggies/fruit are the same or maybe a lil but more than your average grocery store. The only thing annoying is their cart system. Since I have a 2 year old once I pack the car with the groceries and get him in his car seat I really don't want to walk all the way back to store to return my cart. So I ended up just leaving my quarter behind. That's the other thing make sure you have a quarter so u can use a shopping cart. read more

I always go to the Aldi's in Anaheim but I was in the area so I decided to stop here. The prices aren't the same as the Anaheim store and two of the employees were very rude. As I went to cash out Shaun was at the register and I asked him if he could stop putting the groceries in the cart so I could set a box in the cart.... He said "Sure" but still rang my items up and didn't let me set my box in the cart because he kept putting my groceries in my cart..... So I gave up trying to set my box so it could be convenient for me to set it in my car. Feeling ignored and disrespected made my experience here terrible.... I'd rather drive the extra 15min to Anaheim where they appreciate their customers. read more

I shop here because the prices are good. They don't have a large selection of really anything. I've gone before and the produce selection was not good enough to purchase (almost rotten), or even once they decided on a busy Sunday afternoon that it was a good idea to have their massive floor waxing machine out and cleaning the floors around the customers..... i also HATE HATE that EVERY time there is only ever ONE register open and they wait until there is a massive line of people to open another. Why have 5 register stands if you only ever use one? Half the time the cashiers seem like they hate their life and rush you to move your cart and begin the next customer before you're even done paying. Love this store. I admit it had a rough opening with untrained help and long lines. But since its opening it has vastly improved. All the checkers are quick and efficient. Last night was our first time at Aldi, I like how the carts require the quarter because there is ALWAYS carts available, and they're CLEAN. Second impression was the otherworldly amazing prices. I had to triple check the cost of 3 lb bag of oranges... $1.49?! Better than winco! I didn't think that was possible, lol. Meat is decently priced, their store brand items are just as good as the popular brands. I like that they have organic options available at a good price too. We were surprised in how quick our trip was. Nice that the store is not completely huge so I feel that saved some time as well. Somehow they have everything in that store. Lastly, our check out experience was really awesome. I believe our cashier's name was Rita? She was very welcoming, friendly and had a smile the whole time. You can tell she loves her job. I shop here all the time. Aldi should teach their cashier to be more gentle with certain items. I bought for 4 baking pan. I didn't like that MELISA the cashier just drop them one by one into the cart making all these banging noise. I took the time to pick out the ones that's weren't dent and there she goes tossing them in the cart. She didn't even greet me or say thanks u. First off drove a long way to see all the hype boy were we disappointed. were not told that needed a 25 cents to get a basket.. when we saw how rude a customer was being treated because she did not understand how to use the shopping chart. is how we found out how to use it. when entering the store no employee explains that you have to have your own bags or that you have to buy your bag if you don't have one our that they sit on their bum while scanning your things and throwing them into the basket ,not placing them in nicely .their for being rude and smashing your item's in the cart that you careful put on the conveyor belt . then tell you when you ask them to me careful. instead you are told to move out of the way our you will get hurt. when i put your things in the basket. at this point then telling me to get my things and get out of the way .when ask how do i bag them i'm told to go over their on this long folding table that peoples kids are setting on and bag my own. when i complained i was told we should have knowend to bring our own bags and everything else i just told you about. the girl told us that she told everyone on grand opening day . well i don't think she realized that everyone in the whole world wasn't their. i told her she was going to go out of business if this is the way the treat people. especial .just opening a store. if people do not like their job. their are plenty of people out their that need and want a job. also food was put on the shelf wet bread still frozen . rotten produce and it smelled bad in the grape section. i'm buying the things their putting in my cart. and paying them to throw around . yelp is looking good at this time. good luck your going to need it .especially with the staff you know have. we spent $143.96.for that kind of service. when i called customer service i was told they have to cut back on cost so they hire as little as staff as possible. go figure you get what you pay for . by the way customer service number is 1800-325-7894 because you will only find it on the receipt. read more

It took me about 2-3 visits to really get the hang of this store. Now that I know the ins and outs, I only shop elsewhere if I'm in a pinch and need something fast, or if I need a specialty item. I am saving major $$$ by shopping Aldi and here's why: 1. Aldi keeps prices low by not having a bag boy. So...be prepared to have a quarter to "check out" a cart and bring your own bag(s)/boxes to bag up your stuff.** **For the people whining about doing either, a) the cashier will give you a quarter if you forget one, and you just return the cart to her after you load up your car and b) since CA just passed the plastic bag fee proposition, you are required to pay $ for a bag unless you bring your own. So Aldi was already ahead of the game. Change is hard. I know. You'll be okay. 2. Goods are stacked in boxes and there is no "pretty" in the store. Work those aisles like the bad a$$ shopper you are; skip the name brand items and try out the Aldi brands. You'll save major $ and many times the dupes are just as good (ex. Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal- 3.99 at Stater Bros this week vs Aldi Toast Crunch- $1.29. Try it if you don't believe me. Delicious. Still not convinced? Get the Aldi brand of Girl Scout Samoas. $1.79 vs. $5 a box. No brainer math and Aldis are AS GOOD if not better than the Girl Scout cookies.) * If you don't like an item, bring it back to the cashier on your next visit and they will refund your money. You don't even need a receipt. * Learn to know what's a good deal and what's not. Sure I'd pay $1.99 for the same item at a competitor, so I'll just get the item rather than make a trip. Not EVERYTHING in Aldi will be the holy grail of store savings; they're not giving the store away. Look for the specialty items (ex. specialty cheese) that you'd pay an arm for at Ralphs, or the dozen eggs for 87 cents (just this week). Stock up on the great deals and watch your grocery bill plummet. 3. Weekly ads showcase some bargain buys, especially meat items. Aldi is very clear that once the item is gone, it's gone. They get a kick a$$ price from their supplier for a certain amount of an item. It sells out and you're pissed. Well, lesson learned. You get that $1.99/lb price for baby back ribs because it's limited in quantity. Get to Aldi when the ad launches, stock up, and leave happy. Don't expect to go in on the last day of the ad and find all of the hot items fully stocked. 4. Frequent visits up your savings factor. Granted, not everyone lives close enough to go, but if you can swing it, I would recommend shopping Mondays and Wednesdays. I go on Mondays, because I find further discounted items to make room for the new ad's inventory (comes out Wednesday). I have found 2 lbs of grapes for 89 cents. Yes, 89 cents. Insane. I washed them, dried them, then froze them. My 3 boys ate 8 pounds of frozen grapes in 4 days. Best buy ever. Cesar salad mixes for 49 cents a bag. You get my drift; be diligent checking prices, as they do seem to fluctuate (especially produce). You won't always find such huge mark downs, but when you do, you'll want to tell everyone on Facebook how you're such a great shopper. 5. Customer service here is not exactly great. Not bad, not great. Just meh. I am a person who appreciates a quick check out with little to no yapping. Get my stuff scanned, let me pay, let's avoid talk about the weather (hot again, don't ya know?). Some people do like a little yakka-yakka-yakka; so Aldi needs to have a happy medium to keep lines flowing and to keep the yappers happy. Long lines don't scare me here; it looks bad, but the cashiers scan those items like banshees, so the line is quickly decreased. Sure, some stuff gets plunked down rather indelicately. So this long winded review is what happens after 3 cups of coffee before 8AM (thanks Aldi for the french vanilla k-cups for $3.99/box of 12). If you've made it this far, you deserve a quarter for an Aldi cart. I'm nice and cheap like that. Hence, why I shop at Aldi. read more

This place was amazing. Simple and friendly. I honestly think the bad reviews are just from your average American consumers not being able to adapt to something different. Aldi is like the weird aunt that comes at Christmas..... She's quirky, unusual, but you can appreciate her for what she is. Well aldi girl.... You're hella weird but I'm feeling you boo. The small square footage & limited inventory makes it a great place for when you run out of a staple and need to make a quick run to the store but don't want to navigate through a busy Walmart parking lot. Although some scoff at 25cent fee for shopping cart I say, Bring it on Aldi! I'm tired of those damn shopping carts all over my street. If you're fretting over forking a quarter over for a cart you probably won't shop here, and you probably leave your carts all over town. As for inventory... I have to agree 100% w. Janeta S. I regularly spend upwards of $150 weekly on groceries and yes i like saving money but the quality is what i come in for. Next to quality is convience, time is money as they say so if i have to spend my time bagging 5+ bags of groceries and admitadly doing a terribally substandard job at it (crushed groceries are no longer quality items) i question how many more times to come here. Kept hearing about this chain from a friend before it opened, so was excited to visit...especially since Trader Joes are so far from where I live. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much food I got for the amount of money I spent. There aren't too many American grocery stores around my place so I had limited choices until now. Some downsides are the extra big carts and kinda small aisles making for some difficult navigating issues. Someone recommended us to go to Aldi because I spend tons of groceries for my 3 kids. The store was clean but smaller than I expected. Prices are decent but you get better deals at other stores when they have their weekly special sales. For instance Food 4 less flour was buy 2 at $1.50 each and get one free. At Aldi it was $1.30ish for one. Bought all my groceries there just so I can complete a one stop shop instead of going to different stops for cheaper sale items. Will go back. read more

Aldi reminds me of a bit of discount Trader Joes. The size of the store isn't to large but the choices and prices are a great value. They only had one line open but once the line wrapped around one aisle, they opened up a second line to help speed things up. They also charge a quarter for the use of their shopping cart, No big deal there cause you get it back when you return the cart. If you like Trader Joes give them a try too. read more

One of the facebook post was talking about how Aldi had the best whiskey for under $20 so I went to the one in my neighborhood to check it out. First thing that caught my attention was the Quarter insert for using the cart. I have not seen this in decades. I was shocked and bit awkward since I didnt have any quarters on me. One of the worker came to me and handed me a quarter and the day was saved. I thanked the kind worker and went in. First impression was that it was very clean. I was like wholefood meets ralphs kind of clean. I walked towards the wine and beer section to see if they had the whiskey I saw in the ad. No luck. I asked a female worker restocking the wine section and she knew about the ad which led me there. She explained to me it is sold only in Germany where they are originated. I ended up getting a bottle of Rosé Wine which supposedly got real good review for like $8 and a bottle of cabonated water. Overall experience? Two thumbs up! Except the fact that I didnt get the whiskey I initially visited for. I am definitely going back to shop! read more
