She said it was one of the best milkshakes she ever had. They put a bunch of fresh strawberries inside and she said it wasn't too sweet but just perfect. My husband ordered a cookies and cream milkshake. He also said it was made really well and was not too sweet. Just a clean creamy cookie flavor. Of course we had to try the doughnuts. I ordered an apple and a chocolate with sprinkles. The apple was really good! It was freshly baked, and the filling was delicious and had a nice cinnamon flavor. The chocolate was also very good! They are big donuts too! 2 for $5. Now to the delicious soft pretzels! They are freshly baked, soft, buttery, and delicious!!! You can also get them in garlic, cinnamon, and sour cream and onion. They have pretzel dogs too. Fresh fudge anyone? They have a large variety of fudge treats. They have fresh meats, jewelry, furniture, and other items for sale as well. I wished we had more time to explore and try more things. They are only open on Thursdays and Saturdays until 3:00 PM.

They have something for pretty much everyone - baked goods (donuts, cakes, pies, bread), cheese, pickles, produce, fresh meat, home furnishings. It's surprising how much they can squeeze into the space they have and not feel like it's crowded. There's also tables, cafeteria style, if you choose to eat there. If you visit their website, they offer coupons (e.g., $1 off brownies, free pretzel w/ purchase of a milkshake, etc.) you can print out. Normally, it is only open Thursday through Saturday. During certain holidays they do open other days of the week. For Christmas week, they're open Monday through Wednesday since they're closed on December 25th and 26th. For New Year's week, they're open Wednesday since they're closed on Thursday (New Year's Day).

There is an emphasis on locally grown plants and the man who sold them to me took time and care to explain each plant to me - where it should go in the garden, the care required, how it was cultivated, etc. Many of the food vendors also had samples to try. The cheese vendors were wonderful. The breads were also VERY creative (duck fat focaccia... sign me up!) Although some vendors took credit cards, others were cash/check only so I would recommend that you bring some cash with you and smaller bills. For those of us who are in northern NJ, it is an easier ride now that the summer is over. It is also a pretty ride and worth supporting our local growers.

The vendors range from produce to honey to bread, little gifts perfect for the holidays, handmade soaps, lotions and candles and so much more. On my last trip I got some fresh veggies and fruit, a jar of honey and a loaf of sourdough bread. The bread was some of my favorite sourdough I've had. Perfect soft and the crust not too hard or crunchy. The honey is also getting lots of use and for $12 for a pretty big jar it is not too bad a deal. The produce was probably the most expensive part of the haul, but just happy to have a bit of an organic stock around. Next time I visit, I'm tempted to try the raviolis (from the same vendor that I got the honey) or maybe even take a closer look at some of the gifts since the holidays are quickly approaching. Parking is easy with the massive lot, but it for sure gets busy for the market. Worth a stop in! Grab a coffee next door after and check out some of the other nearby shops like the new antique store across the street or the pottery studio next door.

After purchasing our goodies, we walked around the factory and found some tables near an art gallery. It's very spacious and open for exploring, and there's a great looking coffee shop attached as well. Its also connected to a bunch of other stores in the area, like a retro downtown. I got a caramel latte which was flavored exactly to my preference! The caramel was not too sweet, didn't taste artificial and the double espresso was roasted perfectly. At the chocolate counter, I order a few different items. Just about all the chocolate is made in house (including the springtime/Easter specials)! The only items not made by in house are the peanut/peanut butter containing items (which are kept in a separate case). These items are sourced from Asher's Chocolate Co. Mr. Pops does this to ensure all of the chocolates made on site are 100% peanut free. The ambiance is quaint. Mr. Pops is decorated to elicit memories of a chocolate shop of old. I spoke with owner Tim who added to the pleasure of the experience. I am excited to return soon to Mr. Pops where I anticipate trying something cooler as the weather warms! In the corner of Mr. Pops I spotted an ice cream case... I hope this is an indication of ice cream and/or gelato coming in the near future. I would love to try an affogato from Mr. Pops! Subsequent months later, I picked up my meals as they were closed for assembly sessions. I would pull up, open my trunk, and give them a call. They would bring out my meals in bags and I would be ready to go. I really appreciate them keeping open even though they have to put in extra work just so I could have my great, easy to cook meals. I'm not a good cook and I don't really like to cook so Dream Dinners has been a lifesaver for me these past 5ish years. The Flemington location is top-notch and I would recommend to anybody who wants meal kits but doesn't want to pay the high prices that places like Blue Apron charge to deliver to your house.
