A little confusing setup as you have to go to the bar for takeout. But friendly people and a good slice of pizza. Friendly people, and easy in and out. Prices seemed comparable to the mainland. Definitely a place to go back to when/if I head back to the island.

You can't go wrong with Aldo's on Block Island. I had the Italian sandwich and it was amazing! The meat was piled high and sliced so thin it almost melts in your mouth. Spencer had the Westsider and just devoured it, so good. K and Coop shared a personal pepperoni but should have split a medium. They loved it. Amy got the Greek salad and said it was good, no gushing over that one but everything else was delicious. Back to the Italian sandwich, it was killer. If you don't feel like a sandwich then order the Italian sandwich as a starter and have them slice it into 6 pieces for the table. It's a great idea, do that. Enjoy!

    Veal parmigiana was very good

This restaurant is the perfect italian restaurant for an island. its way better than one would think especially with some of the reviews. It has all the italian staples, the restaurant is large , and its perfect for families. My son had a cheese pizza, my wife had chicken parmigiana, and I had veal parmigiana. They were all good and to top it off, the wine list was perfect and got a bottle of la crema pinot noir for under $50. As many times i have been to Block Island, im more disappointed that I never been to this place. Id definitely come back

Went for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartenders and staff were very attentive and welcoming. We both started with a Caesar salad which was very delicious and fresh. My husband had a veal parmigiana sandwich, didn't get a picture but he said was the best veal parmigiana he's ever had. I got the seafood pesto and it was amazing! It was full of scallops, shrimp, and lobster claws. Was very fresh and the pesto sauce was delicious. I would go back in a minute for this dish!

Full disclosure I tried a bite of both...super yum! I opted for the lobster roll served cold with just the right portion of mayo, it was delicious on a buttered brioche roll. My sandwich was served with house-made pasta salad. You simply must try it! No mayo here but an amazing oil and paprika blend. I truly wish I had this recipe, so clearly we will be back next summer. There is plenty of parking if you have your vehicle or a rental but don't worry if you're walking because it's a reasonable walk from the ferry. Don't forget to visit them next summer!!

Ordering was very easy online, even though the prices seemed a bit high. We ordered $109 worth of food...Arancini ($16), garlic bread with cheese($16), Penne al Vodka with sautéed chicken($32), and the Alfredo with chicken cutlet($38). I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous

But upon tasting their food, it was clear, 'Viola' is just another Americanized Italian restaurant. We started with an a la carte order of: 'House made focaccia, roasted garlic spread, evoo, craft butter' This was fresh and tasty. We then shared the 'Caesar: traditional romaine hearts, foccaccia croutons, shaved pecorino cheese. classic caesar dressing.' This lacked any flavour, the romaine was cut into too small pieces, there was no hint of garlic or anchovy in the dressing. But the most disappointing dishes were the pasta dishes: 'Fettucini bolognese, house made, beef, pork, veal ragu, pecorino, basil, calabrian Chili.' 'Scampi viola, squid ink linguini, shrimp garlic, white wine, julienned vegetables, preserved lemon butter.' Although the pastas were freshly made, their textures were compromised; both pasta dishes were not 'al dente'. In fact the Scampi viola was drenched in a dark gravy and greasy. This is just not a very skilled preparation of pasta. A fresh pasta needs very little sauce, and should be dressed very simply so the 'textures' can be enjoyed. I ordered the: 'Zuppa di vongole: fresh little neck clams, vino biqnco, fresh herbs, crostini.' But this dish was replaced by a fried calamari dish. This was well prepared, actually the only star of the evening. This restaurant may succeed on its 'blandness' but will never attract the discerning diner who wants and appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. ~tiaotse~

First of all you truly can't tell when you're in the restaurant that you're in a hotel. It feels very cozy inside. We've been here several times over the years and have never been disappointed. I appreciate that their food is "farm to table" fresh, but the portion sizes should match the prices. Our table of ten spent an average of $320 per couple, and three of the couples had split their dinners. We did order appetizers and drinks as well. I explained my food allergies to the waitress. She relayed the info to the kitchen and did her best to accommodate me. I ordered a small charcuterie without blue cheese. It came with Prosciutto, manchego cheese wedges, pitted olives, red grapes, a few crostini, and a drop of honey. For my entree, I ordered a filet mignon. It came with dollops of instant-like mashed potatoes and prosciutto wrapped asparagus. My friend ordered a filet as well but his was cooked more than the temp he ordered. Instead of medium, it came out well done... charred on the outside, no pink, and dry. Mine, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly even though mine was medium as well. Would I come back? Only for a special occasion perhaps. ‍
