This is a seafood joint on Sunset in LA/Hollywood. For me, I would not come again. Many reasons. First the waiting staff is bad. The guy taking orders is rude and a jerk, and does not how long an order takes. Told 5 minutes and had to wait 20z Second, the lady at the window, because they don't serve you so you pick up your food. At first was nice, but the more things I had to ask, the worse she got. Third, the food is just not that good. Not understanding what people are thinking but it was not good at all. Papas taquitos were one seasoned and not good at all. Cameron's dorado were more potato tacos, no seasoning, not fried enough, and just not good. The Pescado aguachili was basically inediblez. Way too spicy. This place is definitely 4.5 stars! The Mariscos are so good here! So fresh, so light. I love that they have their own parking lot. And it's a fun order-at-the-window casual spot. We ordered the fish ceviche, aguachiles, shrimp burrito, and potato flautas, and pepino aguas Fresca. This food came out FAST! I can't believe how quickly it came out. We sat for less than 5 minutes and it was busy! The food was sooooo good. Ironically the shrimp burrito was our least favorite. It could use more flavor. We passed this small spot on Sunset with outdoor patio seating many times and it always looked busy. This spot serves a simple seafood menu which includes tacos, ceviche, and tostadas. We ordered two beer battered fish tacos and two beer battered shrimp tacos at the window. A couple of people were ahead of us, so it took about 15 mins. The tacos were delicious! Perfectly fried and fish/shrimp ratio to beer batter was perfect. If you don't like spicy, the pico de gallo has jalapeño in it. Next time we'll omit the pico de gallo. The food was good. My issue is your tipping process. We have to go to the window to order; we then have to pick up our food; we then have to clean our table. Your minimum tip is 18%? Really? I've walked by this Silverlake staple more times than I can count and I finally got to try it. Everything is no frills, from the picnic tables in a parking lot where you can dine, to the small menu. But Playita Mariscos proves that sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos that were really good. The batter on the shrimp was perfect and the light fry on them made for an incredible texture. Sometimes fried shrimp can be bread-y, which I hate, but this place did it right. Cabbage on top kept the tacos feeling light on my stomach, yet still filling. I will say if you're sensitive to spice, ask for your tacos without jalapeños. I have a pretty high spice tolerance, and these certainly had a little kick. Pricing was fairly decent at about $4.50 a taco and service was quick. I'd return. read more

I walked by on a recent weekend and was lured in by the amazing smell emanating from the restaurant. I wasn't even in the market for a meal, but I tried the fish taco and it was easily one of the best -- if not the best -- fish taco I've ever had. The crunch on the fish was simply amazing. The fish taco is solid, large fillets with sufficient cabbage and a mildly spicy salsa- perfect. But surprisingly, the biggest turn of event was how great the quesadilla was. I was blown away, the cheese was just amazing. Please don't sleep on it, or else you'll miss out. The fried dorados were solid. Crispy on the outside and fully stuffed shrimp in the inside. My only qualm was it wasn't spicy enough. Felt like something was a bit off. The storefront is pretty cute, gives a beachfront vibe. Service is solid, the workers are like a well oiled machine and can crank out orders in a timely fashion. It's fully outdoor seating. There is free parking behind the storefront. If not, plenty of metered parking on the street. The only concern is the bunch of rats roaming around the parking lot across the street near the garbage dumpsters.
