    Fish taco and shrimp taco
    Mitchel C.

This place is awesome, super fresh and pretty reasonable prices. We got the battered fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and shrimp ceviche. 10/10 will be back.

I came here for the first time and got the beer battered shrimp taco & shrimp ceviche and it was absolutely delicious! I was surprised that this hole in the place had such fresh dishes, but I'll give my experience a 10/10. Parking & dining sitting is limited, so hopefully you can get lucky with street parking & seating like we did.

So happy to stumble across a tacos dorados place. Their shrimp taco dorado also had a layer of mashed potatoes in it--it wasn't greasy or overly salted--so good! I also enjoyed the papas taquitos. Outdoor seating only. Perfect for a casual, quick bite.

I always go back and forth on how I feel about this place. I've always considered myself a spice queen, but damn the aguachiles are wayyyy too spicy. Like to the point where it's not even edible or enjoyable. I've had it three times now just to see if I'm trippin but every single time I'm a little let down. The fish tacos are bomb though and I like that you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and vibes on sunset. The service is friendly and quick too.

Aguaschile de camaron was extremely spicy for me but hard to stop eating- packed with plenty of large open shrimp topped with avocado. If you have low tolerance for spice I wouldn't recommend; your mouth will burn. This was my first time trying their aguas chile and wasn't disappointed. I can appreciate how light their batter is on their fish tacos. Both of their fish and shrimp tacos are both delicious. It is outdoor dining only - order at the window. Service is fast so not a long wait maybe 15 minutes tops. There is parking available inside the lot near the restaurant.

    Fish tacos, excellent!

Experienced this fresh and casual fish spot last night and still dreaming about the fish tacos. Walk up, order from a window, wait until your number is called and then indulge! Classics here are the fish tacos, excellent and super fresh ceviche, and the dorados camaron were pretty good too. Will happily head back when looking for a quick and fresh fish option. Bonus points for decent parking behind the restaurant.

We passed this small spot on Sunset with outdoor patio seating many times and it always looked busy. This spot serves a simple seafood menu which includes tacos, ceviche, and tostadas. We ordered two beer battered fish tacos and two beer battered shrimp tacos at the window. A couple of people were ahead of us, so it took about 15 mins. The tacos were delicious! Perfectly fried and fish/shrimp ratio to beer batter was perfect. If you don't like spicy, the pico de gallo has jalapeño in it. Next time we'll omit the pico de gallo. We'll definitely be back to try more!

What a neighborhood treasure. PM is in line with my philosophy on restaurants: keep a simple menu and just do it really well. Their tacos and taquitos are perfection! The outside patio can sometimes get packed but it's always clean. I go for walks a lot from Silver Lake down to Echo Park and they are the perfect spot to stop for a quick one taco snack and head on my way down to my destination.

We love a Mariscos! & it was my first time trying Playita. As a LA native I try to avoid sunset because of traffic and the scarcity of parking. Parking is terrible on sunset. IYKYK. Anyways, for Playita well worth the traffic. Definitely busy for a Sunday. We ordered 2x I had 2 camaron tacos, 2 Pescado tacos, 16oz ceviche and Queso Quesadilla. Everything was delicious and worth the wait! Definitely a must try.

I was visiting LA and staying in the Silverlake neighborhood. I was supposed to go on a food tour, but sadly it was cancelled so I had to create my own version! After passing this place a few times while wandering around, and craving some good fish tacos, I decided to give it a try. I ordered 2 baja fish tacos and also the shrimp ceviche. Everything was super fresh and tasty! The plates were so filling and such a good deal as well. The only seating is outside so it has a very beachy vibe to it. Fun for people watching as well. I wish I lived nearby so I could eat here all the time!

    Ceviche Camaron
    Tara L.

Some of the best ceviche I've had in a while. The tacos are good as well but the ceviche is my favorite so far. The food is fresh and doesn't take too long and the prices are decent as well. There's a good amount of seating but only outside. Everyone who's taken my order has been nice but it's been small interactions. Would definitely recommend this place and I'll be back for sure

I've walked by this Silverlake staple more times than I can count and I finally got to try it. Everything is no frills, from the picnic tables in a parking lot where you can dine, to the small menu. But Playita Mariscos proves that sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos that were really good. The batter on the shrimp was perfect and the light fry on them made for an incredible texture. Sometimes fried shrimp can be bread-y, which I hate, but this place did it right. Cabbage on top kept the tacos feeling light on my stomach, yet still filling. I will say if you're sensitive to spice, ask for your tacos without jalapeños. I have a pretty high spice tolerance, and these certainly had a little kick. Pricing was fairly decent at about $4.50 a taco and service was quick. I'd return.

Greatest fish tacos in Silverlake. Possibly even America.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Yes, you get all three so no hard choices have to be made. My first impression of the beans was that they were no biggie but last night they were fire! I almost ordered a plate to take home. You have been warned the ceviche tostada has a kick but squirt some lime on it if you need to and you will survive. As for the guacamole, it's guacamole - need I say more? For my entree I went with the snapper, which came with escabeche, lime, pineapple, cilantro, green onion, and chili rub. In the past, I've strictly stuck to their small plates and I feel that's still the way to go. Nothing wrong with my snapper, I just love all the other little plates more. I went with one other person and only one piece of cheesecake came out. Supposedly it was a bigger slice but looked like an average size to me. This cheesecake is made with manchego cheese so don't expect an overly sweet treat. I did enjoy it. But, I also ordered their flan that is only available in August and I found that to be better than the cheesecake. Get both as one is limited edition. We also got the fried chicken tacos. We were told they were pretty spicy but I felt the ceviche was spicier. They were tasty but did not live up to their oxtail tacos they used to have. Also, squirt some lime on these tacos - you're welcome. This is one of my fave places to dine during peak weather season. Go check them out. Tip: street parking is available if you get there at 5 otherwise valet is $15. Trust, you do not want to park your car anywhere other than that one block where the restaurant is located.

It's fine, there nothing wrong with the food, but I, personally, don't think it's rave worthy. I've been here 2x now.
