Loved this place! Silva and Morris, the sweet couple that owns the place, took over Aleppo Kitchen and brought their food wizardry and love in generous portions. To support a family-owned small business run by this Syrian couple was a big plus, but the food was scrumptious and felt like literally their home kitchen. I'm a vegetarian but my meat eating food mates both let out sounds of satisfaction simultaneously in their chicken and beef shwarmas. The foul is yummy, the fattoush is yummy. And then because we all ended up having a delightful conversation with the owners about all our heritages (and how each of us pronounced 'baklava') she decided to just give us some baklava for free. We had the mixed grill: 5 pieces of beef shish, 1 skewer of beef kafta,5 pieces of chicken shish and grilled vegetables served with hummus, salad, and rice. First, let me say that my grandmother came over to the US from Aleppo, and both my grandmothers and mom, well, let's just say that nobody cooks better than your Sitto or mom, right?? Made my first trip to Aleppo Kitchen on Wednesday. Had planned for fast food Arabic food at Zankou, but my teenage daughter wanted to have Kibbeh Nayeh at Carnival. However, I wasn't going to drive there, so I did a Yelp search and found this little gem. Had no expectations whatsoever, but when we walked in and found there was Kibbeh Nayeh on the menu, I had a good feeling the food was going to be amazing, and IT WAS!!! It was so good, that I went back today with my family. The four of us had: Baba Ghanouj - very flavorful with a great smoky taste Hummus - many places make it very bland, but this had a good balance of garbanzos, tahini and lemon juice Tabouli - if I could find someone to make me tabouli at home, 2-3 times a week, I would hire them - always one of my favorite dishes but only when it's not too tart or too heavy with bulgar instead of parsley. This was heavy parsley and not too tart - perfect! Foul Muddamas - this is an underrated dish on any Mediterranean menu. Only true Middle-Easterners appreciate this dish. It was fabulous here, especially with the tahini. Sandwiches - both the chicken and beef shawarmas were tasty, but my only complaint is that they are not very big. My kids were the ones who had them, so it really made little difference to me. LOL Fried Kibbeh balls - again, another dish that many people don't like. If you like fried meat and are willing to be a little adventurous, try a couple. You won't be disappointed. Saving the best for last... Kibbeh Nayeh. If you don't know what this is, think steak tartare. This is lamb tartare. There is bulgar and onions crushed in the meat. It is served like a dip - on a plate. Grab a piece of pita bread, and spread the kibbeh nayeh on it - a true Arabic delicacy. This is not a big place, but it is very clean, and you can tell the owners take great pride in their cooking - nice people, too. At these small places, you don't necessarily get the same meal twice. Since it's home cooking, something is usually off. What I was most impressed with is that the items I had both times tasted exactly the same. The unfortunate part of this is that I live near LAX and don't get up to Burbank very often. Might have to now though. Keep up the great work, Aleppo Kitchen!! read more

Friendly staff with a good side salad. I ordered the beef shish kebob (#32 on the menu) which came with only one piece of meat (one skewer) which wasn't enough food for me personally. In terms of flavor, it was OK, nothing too special. Their rice on the other hand was delicious! I LOVE middle eastern rice that has those tiny noodles in it, I gobbled it all up in seconds! Tried this place after looking for a good shawarma place on Yelp. It had 4 stars so we figured we'd try it. It was ok. Comparing it to Zankou since that's what most people know. Got the beef and chicken shawarma plates. Right away you notice they only give about 60-70% of the amount of meat that Zankou would provide in their plates. And it's not seasoned as flavorfully as Zankou is. Although the quality of the meat is much better and cleaner than Zankou, meaning there was no fat or cartilage in the meat, which is what I usually get with Zankou. Conclusion, it was good to try but doubt I'll go out of my way to eat here again. read more
