I got locked out of my home's bathroom stall the other day, and no matter how many YouTube videos I watched, I couldn't figure out how to unlock the door. So I called Steve. He said he was very busy, but could come over late in the day. After an hour or so, he called and told me he had a cancellation and could come over in about an hour. When Steve arrived, he inspected the door and got it unlocked fairly quickly. When the door opened, it revealed a toilet that was disgustingly dirty after having gone too long between cleanings. He didn't bat an eye. He stayed inside the stall long enough to inspect the other side of the lock and install a new screw. But he never said a word about that terrible toilet. Much appreciated. I'll definitely have Steve back if the need arises!

DISHONEST SCAM! They contract jobs out to independent contractors without telling you, and then…read morecharge you almost 3 times the going rate. I called for a locksmith because l got locked out of my house. San Carlos Lock and Key said one of his guys would call me back to confirm a time. The locksmith said he would arrive in 30 minutes but arrived in 45 minutes which wasn't too bad, but he charged me $385 just to pick a lock. Other locksmiths called me back within that time and said the job is $150, but I told them I already have a locksmith scheduled. San Carlos Lock and Key does not send their own guys. Instead, they contract the job out to whoever is available. They pay the contractors about $150 and they keep about $235 for simply being a relay telephone service. I know these relay services for contractors exist, and I intentionally did not hire any company who said they do this. San Carlos Lock and Key TRICKED me, making me believe they were sending one of their own employees, and not a contractor. I called back to complain, and San Carlos Lock and Key said that the price is because of "this area". I'm only 25 minutes away from them, and other locksmiths said that same service is $150. So do not use this dishonest sham of a company.

Then, they provided a 12 hour window 8 am - 8 pm and eventually came. Go Pro Locksmith removed my Schlage and replaced with a low quality Delaney lock, which did not fit. For this service they charged me hundreds of dollars. When I wanted my Schlage lock back on the door, they said it would cost me a few more hundred dollars. This is not the quality of service we expect from a locksmith.

Exactly this is what happened yesterday. I went in to make several copies of my condo key, which you'd think would be simple enough, but I'd been forewarned that it was tricky because of the lock and the dated systems ... but not to be deterred, I forge ahead. I enter and am stunned to discover that it's a huge, seriously grand locksmith, not your small town mom n pop shop I was used to. They have every conceivable kind of lock and key system, including home system set-ups. Eric is the man to see here--super sweet and helpful, leaned into the job at hand: I handed him my key and explained my condo in SM, which he was familiar with. He made the copy in less than 30 seconds. No joke. I asked him whether they accept ApplePay, at which he declined to accept payment (based on that I wanted five other copies of the same key made). He suggested I go back to my condo to see whether it works (of which he was fairly confident), and to come back for the remainder of the copies. Shocked, pleasantly surprised, stunned, happy that he was trusting me. This is the level of superb customer service that makes me want to return and to refer my friends and family and others in my building. This. Is. The fire kinda service with a level of 100% trust I don't find very often. These guys are the real deal. I walk back to my condo and try the key--voila! It works. Armed with success and flush with my newfound victory, I go back to the locksmith, at which point Eric was busy but another gentleman helped me out (I wish I'd gotten his name), and made me more keys. And yes, they all worked as well :-) The price is eminently reasonable, no gouging here. They're located downtown next to the Century Theaters and street parking can be tough, especially at peak times, but lots of parking garages nearby.

With this in mind, I recently spoke with Eric about a Mercedes key fob issue I was having and he told me about the key fob batteries that he keeps in stock at the store, which are different from those I've been purchasing on Amazon. Not only did his battery this increase the range zone on my key fob, but a secondary fob that I was convinced was a dead key fob, I used the battery purchased from the store and this fob is now working again!
