I got locked out of my home's bathroom stall the other day, and no matter how many YouTube videos I watched, I couldn't figure out how to unlock the door. So I called Steve. He said he was very busy, but could come over late in the day. After an hour or so, he called and told me he had a cancellation and could come over in about an hour. When Steve arrived, he inspected the door and got it unlocked fairly quickly. When the door opened, it revealed a toilet that was disgustingly dirty after having gone too long between cleanings. He didn't bat an eye. He stayed inside the stall long enough to inspect the other side of the lock and install a new screw. But he never said a word about that terrible toilet. Much appreciated. DISHONEST SCAM! They contract jobs out to independent contractors without telling you, and then…read morecharge you almost 3 times the going rate. I called for a locksmith because l got locked out of my house. San Carlos Lock and Key said one of his guys would call me back to confirm a time. The locksmith said he would arrive in 30 minutes but arrived in 45 minutes which wasn't too bad, but he charged me $385 just to pick a lock. Other locksmiths called me back within that time and said the job is $150, but I told them I already have a locksmith scheduled. San Carlos Lock and Key does not send their own guys. Instead, they contract the job out to whoever is available. They pay the contractors about $150 and they keep about $235 for simply being a relay telephone service. I know these relay services for contractors exist, and I intentionally did not hire any company who said they do this. San Carlos Lock and Key TRICKED me, making me believe they were sending one of their own employees, and not a contractor. I called back to complain, and San Carlos Lock and Key said that the price is because of "this area". I'm only 25 minutes away from them, and other locksmiths said that same service is $150. So do not use this dishonest sham of a company.

They are very professional, know what they're doing, and very easy to work with. The programming is tricky which needs two existing keys to program. I called this company to unlock my car after locking my keys inside. The technician used an air…read morewedge and a metal rod to reach through the slit and grab set of keys (mind you there were like 6 keys). After the job my passenger side door no longer closed tightly and there was a visible gap. I asked the technician to pour some water on that area to check the seal, and water leaked inside the car. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the company became defensive and said things like "Why test it? Because you knew it was wrong?" which came across as condescending. Later they claimed to have before and after photos, but they only took a picture after the job and tried to use that as proof that the damage existed earlier. That is not honest or professional. The leak and misalignment started immediately after their service, and their reaction showed no accountability or respect. I would not recommend this company. If you ever hire them, make sure to document everything with photos and videos because they will deny any responsibility if something goes wrong. Edit: The owner replied by calling me a scammer. I posted actual evidence: photos, a video of the leak, and a Yelp reimbursement confirmation siding with my claim. Insults don't change documented facts.
