I visited Floyd's-Sugar Land for my first time for lunch recently but I have dined at their outposts in Cypress and Beaumont before. My order was for one of the lunch specials which was a cup of seafood gumbo and 1/2 poboy (crawfish) with fries for $15. The seafood gumbo was very good tasting with a rich roux taste but it had 2 or 3 shells in it. The 1/2 po boy was the same with quality bread, fried crawdads and dressed well. The fries are also always a winner. Deb was my waiter and was very professional. I've had this lunch at the other locations and it was equally good. I like Floyd's and believe they serve very good seafood. I wish their regular dinner entrees weren't so expensive. My lunch is a real value but most of their menu items are in the high twenties or even in the thirties $$$. read more

We ordered two beers, a dozen raw oysters, and fried pickles, mentioning to our waitress that the oyster special was the main reason we came. Drinks came out, then the oysters -- and right after serving them, she told us that was the last batch and they were out. Seemed strange given their menu has several baked oyster options, but we figured maybe they'd genuinely run low. The dining area feels like an old diner with a bar on one sides. Outdoor seating looks fun on a cooler day with some tv to watch sports. A little later we noticed other tables getting oysters, so we asked a different server. She said they'd likely just gotten backed up with orders, then came back and confirmed they'd brought out another sack and we could order more. Right on cue, our original waitress reappeared asking if we wanted more oysters -- the same ones she'd just told us were gone. When we pointed out the contradiction, she flat out denied ever saying they'd run out. Food-wise: raw oysters were just okay, fried pickles were decent, and the wings were actually good. I was open to coming back to try more of the menu, but the service really soured the experience. Being upsold or brushed off with an obvious lie isn't a good look. A lie on top of a lie did it for me. I hope they train their server's better. read more

Floyd was an excellent experience. I've passed by this place many times, and I'm glad I finally stopped in. The atmosphere was family friendly. We were lucky to have a fantastic waiter named Dylan he made us feel welcome right away. Since we sat outside, he adjusted the umbrella to keep us comfortable and took the time to walk us through the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations. We ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo, the Floyd fried seafood platter, and the Parmesan crusted chicken pasta. The gumbo had a rich, flavorful roux, and I liked that the rice was served on the side. The seafood platter was delicious, the fried oysters were my favorite, and the stuffed crab was especially good. Love the set up inside. It's gives that come on in and pick a seat anywhere family feel. Service was excellent. This was our first time eating here and we were in town for a show and didn't want to go to some large chain or a place we can eat at everywhere. Great appetizer options. I wanted to try about 5 of them, but my eyes are bigger then my stomach. We got the crab stuffed jalapeños - grilled. Though they were good, they would have been better fried. Which is an option, but we were trying not to have everything fried and this lady was trying the fried okra! My husband got the Waygu Steak, and those seasoned well, nothing to really write home about. May not even order it again if we get to go back. I had the Bar Trash Mac and Cheese with Fried Okra!!! I don't get all the bad rap Floyd's get but everything was excellent. We came around lunch time on a weekday. The fried boudin was really fresh and crispy. The waiter was very nice and substituted my half and half for shrimp etouffe. There was only 5 shrimp but they were large. My husband's flounder special was super tasty. The food here is always good, and the crawfish are delicious! That's honestly why I keep coming back. The food is consistently good, and most of the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the manager is a completely different story. This is not the first time I've been there and heard her yelling at an employee loud enough for customers to hear the entire conversation. Sitting at the bar and hearing that is uncomfortable, embarrassing, and honestly very unprofessional. No employee should be spoken to that way, even if they made a mistake. Had the pleasure of visiting Floyd's. It was not busy when we went , it was a total of 15 people. The waiter we had was okay . He made sure we had what we needed but when it came to asking questions about food items on the menu, he advised what we should eat and what we did not want instead of advising the flavoring taste of each dish and letting us choose for ourselves. For instance when it came to the crab fingers ordered ,I inquired is the boil good , he stated you don't want it . Never gave a reason . When I told him I'll go ahead and try the boiled crab fingers he advise nah you don't want it get the fried . March 3.15.26 my mother went to your location after church service to get an order to go. Once she arrived home and opened the container to eat her lunch, she found the French fries were missing. My mother immediately contacted the store and was meet with an aggressive, rude, GM with unprofessional behavior from the very start of the conversation. The GM gave no apologies for the mistake they made and rudely stated she's not going to comp her entire meal, my mother didn't ask for it to be comp she was simply pointing out the issue. We as a family frequent that location and have always had good service that's why this was so surprising. There seems to be lack of training and this is unacceptable at that level. Went here today with wife and parents and it was excellent. Had fried shrimp, fried fish, hush puppies, and jambalaya. The hush puppies were average but everything else was excellent. Jambalaya had huge peppers that tasted fresh. They had their own house hot sauce there that was not too spicy and had an excellent vinegar flavor. Family enjoyed their food as well. Tried some of their crab cakes and stuffed shrimp and it was good as well. Service was fast and friendly. Bottled sparkling water was served with orange slice, lemon wedge and lime wedge which I had never seen before but it gave the water a great flavor. Price was very reasonable especially off the lunch menu. But even if you order in the regular menu it is only a dollar or two more. We got to try out Floyd's Saturday night and had an overall positive experience. I tried the half dozen oysters and they were pretty good. My boyfriend tried the crawfish bisque and it was pretty good as well. Everything in the menu was a little more expensive than we were expecting for a casual dining Cajun restaurant so we stuck with the po boys this evening. They were massive! Taste wise they were okay but I don't think I'd go out of my way for a visit to order them again. The restaurant was packed and we had abut a 25 min wait with another 15 to 20 min or so to get our apps and another wait for food. There was a large party so that may have contributed to the wait times but again it was packed. Stopped in for lunch with a coworker Wednesday. We had to very different dishes. I had the fried shrimp and she had a stew with various meats and rice. She said it was missing some seasoning however my shrimp and fries were perfectly seasoned. I would say the hush puppies and boudain could be better. The cocktail sauce was one of the best I've had. Crawfish étouffée and fried crawfish was great for my crawfish craving without having to peel crawfish. However this place was super packed at a Friday lunch and took an hour to get seated and order. Floyd's is a treat. Really solid Cajun. They got all the dishes. Some with their own touch. Their shrimp dawg sauce dishes are very good. Their steaks and other items are solid, but the Cajun is superb. And they have really great desserts. Service is always so sweet and nice. Great cajun decor. My friend and I visited this location yesterday. It was my 1st time to try Floyd's and this was my friend's 1st time at this location. I was excited because I really wanted seafood and cajun food. Unfortunately, we ended up very disappointed. Our waitress Scottie did not make the best impression as she was rushing us to make drink choices and wasn't going to stand there all night (her words). She gave off the impression that she didn't want or have time to answer our questions. After she brought our drinks, I asked her if she was new and her response was, " I have been waiting tables for 10 years, why did you ask me that?" So I let her know how she cane off earlier and how she responded when asking her about drinks. She said, " Oh no, I just don't drink anymore so I really don't know that was all". I told her I knew something was up and that's why I asked and wanted to being it to her attention. Now the food - biggest disappointment!!! I got the Floyd's platter (I chose to have everything fried), which is 2 oysters (I substituted for 2 extra shrimp) 2 fish fillets, 2 shrimp, 1 crab stuffed shrimp, 1 crabcakes and fries (I chose a stuffed potato instead for a 95 cents upcharge). The Floyd's platter is 29.99 and for what you get, it is wayyyyyyy overpriced!! The shrimp taste better when dipping them in the cocktail sauce, otherwise everything was not seasoned at all. Now my platter did have an extra fish fillet which would have been great if it taste good but it did not. I just couldn't believe it!! The stuffed shrimp was just like the crabcake - disgusting!! I am not sure what kind of crab concoction is used but it is horrible!!!!! I took one but of it and did not eat anymore of the crabcake. That is never heard of for a foodie like me!!! The stuffed potato was yummy!! Had I known I would have only ordered that and saved my money!!! Scottie brought bread to us after I asked for garlic bread and she made a point to let us know she was just giving it to us. It wasn't good either so glad we didn't pay $1.99 for it. My hurricane rita ($11) was okay and I added a Patron floater ($2). My friend's shrimp platter was a joke also. The manager walked around and she stopped at our table to ask how was everything. I was honest with her about the food. I didn't mention Scottie because in all honesty I forgot about her after my disappointment with the food!!! The manager apologized and said she was going to give us some cards to come back and give them another chance. She gives my friend and ai two $5.00 cards. I always get the blackened boudin split links it has never let me down and fried catfish platter very light and tasty. Plain and simple... I did not care for the food I had. The Blackened Flounder dish I had was not good at all. Very little seasoning and the minuscule crawfish tails were just that, minuscule. We ordered an app of the fried green tomatoes and that was pretty delicious. I would order those again. The service was okay for the time. Place was not busy so it left the wait staff not too busy. Having multiple locations in the area and hitting that middle market price point with pretty good food, I like Floyd's. Food is consistent at the several locations I've tried. Crawfish in season is very good as is the redfish year round, although the redfish fillet was too small and slightly overcooked as a result of being small but still good. Update, we've eaten at Floyd's a few times recently. The food is still excellent but the service was lacking on two different visits. This was our 22 year wedding Anniversary, so we wanted to go for a late lunch, early dinner. We love seafood so we were going to try Floyd's Seafood in Sugar Land, Texas. We arrived and were seated immediately and our waitress Scotty greeted us and took our drink order of two Coke Zeros. After getting our drinks and wanted to order a appetizer of fried green tomatoes. Just a note, the description of it is all you get! Just 2 slices of fried green tomatoes, corn off the cob, red diced peppers and a remoulade sauce! It was good but Only 2 slices and at $9.99. Not worth the price! We then order our meal, 2 orders of Bub's Shrimp Platter. This consists of 4 fried shrimp, 4 grilled shrimp, 2 bacon wrapped shrimp and 2 crab meat stuffed shrimp, with 1 side. We picked Floyd's potatoes, cut up potatoes with onions, peppers and seasoning. Potatoes we a great side dish. 3 containers of sauce came with the dinner, one cocktail sauce, one a buttery sauce, and one like a dill sauce I think? All of them were good. The fried shrimp were good, bacon wrapped were great(wanted more of them) crabmeat stuffed shrimp were less appetizing. Crab meat was dry and not much taste. Scotty took good care of us without being to annoying! Didn't want for anything! All in all, service was good, appetizers weren't worth the price, Bub's Shrimp Platter was ok, some shrimp was better then some of the others. But all in all, we love seafood and will try them again. You will have to try them if your in the Sugar Land area and get your own option! Update:after thinking about the price for what we got, we don't think we will be back again!
