We were initially going to go to Cucas but after reading too many negative reviews thought better to come here. Smart move since it was a short drive away. It is near the McDonalds with easy clearly marked parking. Designed like fast food restaurant with menu on the wall as well as written menu on a board. I had the carnitas plate which was perfect. Carnitas 5 star tender tasty perfectly seasoned pork Rice 5 star excellent tasty Beans pinto beans 5 star tasty Tortillas corn tortillas a little dry and fragile 3 star Salsa pico de gallo could use more tomato 3 star Guacamole 3 star tasted good but small portion and more like puréed avocado My two friends got taco plate 4 star and the huevos ranchero 4 star. I was so hungry, coming back from Vegas Sunday. I skipped Qudoba and Subway, thinking I'd get better food here. I was..... Just wrong. I got the Carne asada burrito, no rice, add cheese. The manager/owner was nice and pleasant, helping them avoid the 1 star review. But the burrito was..... Ugh. Steak was burnt. Unseasoned. Dry. And very little of it. I was completely disappointed. The beans were bland and uninteresting. The burrito was too small. Apparently, they are the type of place that overstuffs their burritos with rice on purpose. That's the take away I kinda got here. Listen, Mexican food isn't that difficult and I can sleep walk my way into flavorful Carne asada. My order was from their combo section. (5 Tacos your choice of meat) and came out before I was finished in the restroom which is conveniently near their spot in the food court. The meat was cooked very well. (See photo, and know that I had accidentally tilted my takeout bag while getting in the car before opening...) With most food stalls closed, or even without signage, aside from Alex's, this spoke to me more than a couple poor reviews posted below... They are quality enough to withstand the lack of tourists and definitely satisfied my quick stopover need satisfactorily. I was on on the way to Vegas from Northern California. Side notes: my company had ordered elsewhere and finished eating their food in the car shortly before I arrived, but when I opened my tacos their immediate reaction:"wow that smells good" The price point is a touch higher but fair considering they are in the vicinity of a casino resort at the Prism luxury outlet.This restaurant clearly invested in their set up with banners and location in the food court. I think the low demand during Covid may have influenced their portioning with adjusted menu prices clearly taped on. To be offering the variety that they are aiming for, this could easily be a go to under other circumstances. We're in the middle of the desert and craving Mexican food and as usual, it's Yelp to the rescue! Alex's Mexican is rated 3 and a half stars so we tried it. This joint should have been reviewed better... the buche and lengua tacos are the bomb! Wifey's traditional carne asada burrito is reportedly excellent! Primm isn't what it used to be and I'm not sure if this restaurant is seeing the effects or if it recently opened. AC was on and temps felt fantastic on a very hot day. No lights on inside left the restaurant dark, lights out on the menu made me feel like the restaurant was closed. Nice lady walked out from the back. She was kind but not overly talkative when I tried to engage in small talk. Unfortunately the rating I'm giving is purely on value for your money. I opted for a basic bean and cheese burrito. Their prices are up from a photo posted 6 months ago. They raised the price from $4 to $6. I was disappointed to see their offering was the size of a $2 Taco Bell burrito and TB is next door. Given it's location 5 star dish at Primm. Very good. I"d go out of my way to eat this again. Lived at Buffalo Bills for about 4 months traveling for work. Ate here often. Nice people and good service. Drive thru works. It always looks closed but it's not. Instead of spending 20 bucks at the most expensive McDonalds or Taco bell on earth eat at Alex's instead. The food is DELICIOUS! This place is family owned and operated and they all are very friendly. Would definitely recommend stopping here if you're hungry. It's not your "typical" Mexican resturaunt where you sit and serve chips and sals to fill you up before your eat. Definitely don't want to fill up on those because the food is so darn good! I would like to review this restaurant because #1 As my family and I entered the restaurant we were completely ignored ,the cashier was not in a good mood and seemed tired .We only went inside because it was the only restaurant in the desert , I wished I would of waited to get to Barstow at least . I had to ask if she was available to take Our order ,We placed our order from breakfast to lunch ,Food was salty no flavor my daughters enchiladas were half cooked .I asked for a Jamaica water ,it was pretty much tap water and sugar . Going back to Cali and stopped at state line to get some food. Found this Mexican Food Restaurant. We got an Asada Burrito, Bean and Cheese Burrito, and a Mexican Plate. We didn't get a lot of pictures, this was a burrito it was so bomb. The carnitas was fire! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some great Mexican food. I would also stop by again. Made a desperately hungry lunch pit stop some months ago, choosing to patronize this one off business over their corporate neighbor (taco bell). We even commented that why not give it a go as its a real challenge to make a mess out of preparing mexican food. Know that Alex's managed to do just that in the most spectacular fashion. The "highlight" of this vastly disappointing meal was what appeared to be an animal part (really, is that a hoof or pig snout?!?!) featured in the "albondigas" style soup. To further insult this concoction it was served up in a styrofoam bowl. Please consider just how hungry you really are and how far you're willing to go so far astray before entering this place. Horrible service and food. Menudo is flavorless and has a canned texture to it. Carne asada torta was meh. The agua de horchata is horrible. We only received part of our order and waited half an our to receive our entire order. A table next to us waited an hour until they realized they lost their order.
