He explained everything thoroughly to where there were no surprises, was extremely patient comforting me and dealing with my fears, and best accomplishment of all - made the process painless. He even personally called a few hours later to make sure I was ok. One of his best quotes was, "Every time a patient signals pain, I feel a part of the pain with them. If you don't, you've gone numb to the human experience and should consider retirement." I came in with a loose front crown causing pain. What should have been a straightforward cleaning and consultation turned into a nearly two-hour waste of time. I was left waiting repeatedly, moved between rooms with little communication, and saw a dentist who never introduced himself, seemed annoyed to be there, promised he would return after my cleaning, and never came back. The most frustrating part of the entire experience was the front desk employee who came in afterward. Despite the fact that I had already spent considerable time discussing my situation with both the hygienist and dentist, she spoke to me as if none of those conversations had happened. She insisted on explaining my own treatment plan back to me, gave me incorrect information about insurance coverage, and immediately began pushing me to schedule new crowns. When I explained that I was simply waiting for the dentist to return as promised so he could assess the tooth that was actually causing me pain, she informed me that wasn't possible because he was now in surgery. I then asked if I could see another dentist. Her response was that he was the only dentist available. That answer was honestly shocking considering there are multiple dentists listed by the practice and I've personally seen several different dentists there over the years. Apparently after wasting nearly two hours of my time, my only option was to come back in a week to see the same dentist who had already failed to return when promised. What made it worse was that after all of this, she immediately asked if I wanted to go ahead and book that appointment. I actually laughed because I thought she was joking. I left, sat in my car, called another dental office, and was seen an hour later. The difference was night and day. Professional staff, clear communication, transparent pricing, and a dentist who actually took the time to sit down and speak with me. I ended up moving forward with treatment there because I trusted them. This office has gone downhill. Patients are treated like inconveniences, communication is poor, and promises made in the exam room don't seem to matter. I won't be returning.

I was terrified of dentists after a bad experience and had so much anxiety going in for a tooth concern. But Dr. Leftwich was amazing. He listened to my concerns and offered me the best solution. I think what impressed me the most was that I didn't feel like a transaction and he didn't think my anxiety or stress was insulting or annoying. He was very empathetic and kind. I wish more people had that kind of approach with patients. I ended up having a cavity. Normally that would have sent me into a spiral (from my past experience) but he walked me through exactly what we were going to do and how easy it was going to be. I went in on my lunch break a few days later and was done in 30 mins. Seamless, no pain, and even the aesthetic of the filling was perfection! I couldn't even tell where the cavity had been. I also have to give a shout out to the rest of the staff. Booking my appointment was so easy, the girl I talked to on the phone was so sweet and offered the best customer service. I told them my concern and they said oh yes, that's a side effect of the toothpaste we gave you. They hadn't told me that that was a possible side effect! Fortunately it was resolved by a simple polishing. However, at the next visit they gave me another toothpaste that again stained my teeth. Fortunately, I've only been using it for a week or so, but I couldn't believe they had given me another product that stained my teeth without any warning of possible side effects. Also at my last visit, they told me that I had several teeth I seriously needed to watch for cavities. The way the assistant and Dr. Slate delivered the news and went on about it did not put me at ease at all. I was extremely surprised as well, because I am on a very, very low-sugar diet, and my last visit six months ago went well... They could not think of any other legitimate reasons that I would have cavities, so I did not leave with confidence that they knew what was going on in my situation or that Dr. Slate truly cared to find out. I was also very surprised how bad they made the situation sound, given that my visit six months ago went perfectly well... I then made another appointment in Carrolton with Beverly Dental , another dentist where we were told the tooth could be recrowened and an implant for it was not needed and other then 2 resins (two cavities) and a cleaning we were given a quote of $2000 which is $7000 less . I dislike having to write this but feel that we were not told the exact truth of the whole matter . Also we were charged $200 for x-rays and Beverly Dental did the xrays for free.
