Let me start this off by disclaiming, I don't have all that much plumbing knowledge, nor do I claim to, but their prices and service seem lackluster. It all started about a year ago when I initially called EcoWater for service on my water softener. I had called them due to the "great" reviews I've heard and radio endorsements. They accommodated my schedule and got someone out the next day. The gentleman that came out claimed to be the owner which i was impressed with. He fooled around with the controls and finally came back to me with the diagnosis: I needed a new control valve. I obliged, being a new homeowner and chalking it up to new home ownership expense. The "owner" installed the new valve and it took about 4 hours. Probably something that a qualified professional should be able to do in about an hour. He miscut copper pipes several times over (thank god they didn't charge me for materials!). I had to physically help him through the process of figuring out which right angle to weld (ugh). My water softener worked for about 2 months, then it slowly stopped working and I failed to notice. When I did, I didn't have the disposable income to have it fixed right away. Flash forward to today (about 1 year after initial install date). I called a technician to come out and they next appointment they had was for a week from my initial call. I begrudgingly agreed and had them come out. They quoted me a time between 12-3, just enough of a window that I had to take the entire afternoon off of work. I even requested that it be a late afternoon so I could stay at work, but no. You're given a time and you take it or no soup for you. That should have been my second clue. (First being my first experience). The technician came out and within a few minutes diagnosed the problem as a clogged drain line after being on the phone with a technician who knew how to work on my water softener. (Wait, the technician who came out didn't know how to work on it? Yes. He was on the phone for the first 30 minutes). After the diagnosis, he relayed back to me that the drain line went into the attic. He crawled up there took a look around and found the line. The line went all the way to the other side of the house and he got up through the other crawl space. After a few minutes, he told me he could not find the pipe on the other side. Well obviously it had to go somewhere. I was not satisfied with this answer, so I got up there myself and within 5 minutes, I found the pipe leading up through the roof. Now I don't know if this was not part of his "job description" or just pure laziness, but when the CUSTOMER has to do half of the work, I think that I should only have half the bill. So there I was on the roof of my own house flushing the line backwards while the technician stood in front of the water heater. I'm dusty from the attic and soaked from pushing the hose up against the drain line. We finally unclogged it (it was filled with crap) but didn't completely unclog it. After about 10 minutes of this, we called it a day since the water softener could drain. After this, I questioned him, "Well what insures me that this is going to work?", to his reply "there isn't, but it looks like it will". Are you serious? You come out to fix my freaking water softener only to tell me that you think it's going to work? At this point, I sent him home, but not without getting hit with the bill first. $185. WHAT!?! The initial charge was $105 for the technician to come out . What they failed to mention was that it was $105 only for the first 30 MINUTES ($52.50 for the trip charge and $52.50 for the first 30 minutes - seriously $52.50 for the trip charge?). He was there for exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes. He rounded up to .3 of an hour (an extra 5 minutes). Seriously, he nickel and dime'd me for every cent. So I complained and told them that the rates were high and that they didn't tell me that $105 only covered the first 30 minutes. He apologized and told em that other plumbers charged for half hours and then he drove off. Most every other "service" companies charge by the hour...But what can I do? I guess choose not to call them again, which I will not. I encourage you to shop around for not necessarily the cheapest service but someone that will actually be knowledgeable and a company where you don't have to do the work yourself. Well, now these guys have sunk to a new low. I just purchased a new home and immediately got a postcard with a fake, purposely hard-to-read company name, and their address, saying that they have been unable to contact me and have a parcel for me. Big surprise, no, they never even tried to get in touch with me - ever. These lying scumbags make it look like they are a parcel delivery company and that you missed a delivery. They give a number to call and say "Ask for Miss Burke", as though there might be someone else there answering the phones. I think "Ask for Miss Burke" is their code for "I got your scam postcard" so that they know what to say when you call. Why would anyone with half a brain even consider doing business with people like this. It just shows what distain they'll have for you once they get your money. read more

A few months back late at night I heard water gushing from under the kitchen sink. I went over and found water coming from the R/O system so I shut of the valve to the R/O system After cleaning up all the water and drying the cabinet up I noticed that the upper filter, later learning it was the membrane, had broke. The break was on the top of the screw on cap where the threads ended and the top started. At this point I called All About Water at (480-892-7556) and scheduled an appointment. When the plumber got here I showed him the problem and he said he would have to order the part and it would be about a week. I asked him what would have caused the problem and told him it looked like someone had over tightened the cap last time they where here to change the membrane last year. He said " It might have been but let me look into it. He left went out to his truck and came back in saying he had tested the incoming water pressure and it was at 76 psi and he recommended that we put a whole house water pressure regulator on the house and it would be an additional $600.00 to have it installed. I told him I didn't have the ability to do that at this time and he said it should be ok for now but I might want to look into it in the future. When he gave me my copy that day it was written on the bottom that at 2:30 pm the water was at 76 psi and a pressure regulator was recommended. The next week when they came back out to fix the filter nothing more was said about the water pressure and he installed a newer filter membrane on the top of the filter rack and left it on the bottom of the cabinet I asked hi if he was going to put it back on the side of the cabinet like it was before and he said the new unit was too big and it would no longer fit on the screws instead of moving the screws down 1" to allow for it to fit like it was before. Over the next week or so I noticed the water tasted bad so I drained and refiled the system two more times to make sure it was working correctly before calling them back out. the water started tasting better but the system seamed to run constantly. Then for the last two weeks the unit starts vibrating for periods of about 5 minutes a time and several times an hour throughout the day. I have opened the cabinet and felt the unit and it seams that the drain line coming from the new membrane to the sewer line vibrating. Two days ago on 8-27-13 I called All About Water and gave her my information and told her the problem I was having. She was very short with me on the phone and told me that they already told me that my water pressure was to high and the Universal Plumbing code was 80 PSI and when they tested my water t 2:30 pm it was 76 PSI and I would need to address the PSI problem before they would come back out. I told her I didn't feel that the water had exceeded the 80 PSI universal code and I thought that the Membrane that was installed might have a faulty valve or was installed incorrectly since I had never had a problem like this before. I asked he if she was able to send someone out to take a look at it and she said. Sir if I send someone out to look at it we will charge you a $105.00 service fee cause we already told you that the water pressure is to high. I told her that time I would have to call the Landlord and see what he said. Today 8-29-13 I called them back again and told them I was unable to pay the service charge but I still wanted them to come out and look at the part that they just installed and see if there was a problem. She got rude to me on the phone and said. Sir I already told you we would not come out to look at it unless you are wiling to pay the $105.00 service charge. I told her that I felt that was wrong that they needed to see if the part they installed was bad and fix it. If it was not bad then I would leave them alone and look into the pressure regulator. She said Said i Sir we will not come out there for that. I then stated that if they where unwilling to fix something they installed that was bad I would have to contact the registrar of contractors. At that point she said Sir I didn't say we would not come out I said if we come out and find that the membrane was not the problem we would then charge you a $105.00 service charge. Then she said she was going to call her technician and see what they could do. I believe she just set the phone down on the desk and forgot to push the hold button and started talking to a Male in the back ground saying "Hey its Mr Baldwin calling back about the R/O system we repaired and he wants to know what we can do about it. They kept talking back and forth saying that they are not going to come and fix it for nothing an it was my problem." She then said "What is he calls the Registrar of Contractors and the Male in the back said Let read more

I had high hope for this company as the text that came out for the estimate was punctual, courteous and informative. He explained all the issues with my water softener and I was pleased that I wouldn't need a new one. After reviewing the itemized list and encouraging me to prepay (which I did) I was given an appointment for today before noon. Eager to get our softener repaired I took the morning off work. After having two other service jobs completed by another company I called to inquire about my service time. I was informed it would be between 2-5pm??? I reiterated that I had taken off work etc. I asked if I could cancel and get the very first appointment tomorrow morning. I was told by the very kind receptionist that she would need to contact service and call me back. Yes, someone could come out before noon, again! I explained how my signed work order for today was before noon and that didn't happen. I finally said just come today between 2-5 I will make it work. I just received a call letting me know my service tech is running behind and my new time would be from 4-7pm. If this were told to me in the beginning I could have gone into the office and returned home by that time and not taken the day off. I can't attest for the actual service but if you indeed need service and you aren't free to waste your day don't use this company. I gave them 2 stars because the ladies in the office were apologetic, even if it doesn't get my time back. Being aware of my displeasure, Kris called and asked if he could come out and review the data and discuss the issues. I said fine and he showed up a few minutes early. After reviewing the usage date he made some recommendations that will cut our preventive maintenance cost approximately in half. Kris said he would discuss my concerns with the department heads so they could address them. This in no way changes my opinion of how overpriced their service is but Kris did show me how I can cut my costs. read more

Had a service tech come to my house yesterday to service my water softener. After completing the softener service and without asking or receiving permission from the me the home owner, the tech did a "courtesy" check of my hot water heater. After not fully prepping the water heater for the procedure (did not turn off the power or drain the tank) the tech blew dirty water under pressure all over my garage ceiling and walls while removing my anode rod. The service tech thought he was doing me a favor and handed me the nut off the top of the anode rod telling me my rod was broken and needs to be replaced to the tune of $400 on top of my service for the softener. I told him I never asked for the courtesy check and was not in a position to pay $400 for service on my water heater that was under warranty. I don't know where the truth lies with this particular "company wide courtesy" but I didn't ask for it so why should i pay for it. Let me start out by saying, I don't ever write reviews about a company I have work for us, however my wife and I moved to Scottsdale almost a year ago and purchased our home. The home came with an EcoWater Softener, so almost a year later I thought I should have it serviced. I went online and found All About Water was a company who worked on this brand. I called, made an appointment and left them instructions on how to enter our home, as neither my wife nor I would be home at the time of the service. They came out to do general maintenance which was going to cost $105.00 and then an additional $35.00 and change, so let's call it $150.00. I received a call that the bypass valve on the back was cracked and needed to be replaced, so Dave went forward and changed it, prior to OK'ing it with me, and this part was $93.00 along with the clips and seals which were $24.00. OK I'm still OK with all of this as I know they're a company and have overhead, blah, blah, blah. But here's the kicker, they charge you $52.50 for every half hour they are working at your property which is never broken down to you on the initial phone call. I called to have the bill explained to me, at which time I got what I would consider a high school drop out who answered the phone, sorry that wasn't nice but neither was she. "She", since she never told me her name broke down the bill and explained it's $105.00 for the trip charge and the first 30 min, anything over that was the $52.50 explained above. I was slightly upset and explained we were first time customers, etc. She obviously skipped customer service 101 where you always say your name and try to make the customer happy because when something good happens to someone they tell 5 people and when something bad happens they tell 25 and that's what I'm doing. "She" should have said, "I'm sorry sir and we'll take off the $52.50 this time and moving forward please understand we have a trip charge of $105.00 which includes the first 30 minutes and then for every additional 30 minutes we will charge $52.50. I would have been super happy about that and would have continued to use All About Water, however after this kind of customer service I will use another company even if they charge more than All About Water, so I hope this helps anyone who needs to have their EcoWater Softener serviced and at least if you do decide to use All About Water you will know what their charges are! I bought my water softener and RO drinking water system through Costco's association with All About Water. I have been very satisfied with the initial installation three years ago and the annual maintenance to both systems provided by All About Water personnel. Today my annual maintenance for filter changing and overall service was due and the service was provided by Dana C. Dana provided exceptional service - he patiently explained how the system worked and how each replacement filter and membrane (the latter after 3 years of use) worked as he did the required service. Then he again patiently walked me through all the maintenance steps associated with the water softener as he performed that service as well. In my mind, Dana earned the five star, Gold Star, award himself for the professional and courteous service he provided on behalf of All About Water. read more

We purchases our Eco-Water system from All About Water a few years ago. We found the customer service to be wanting then. Since then we have had to call for service on the system. All About Water charges over $100 for the first 30 minutes of service and over $50 for every half hour after that. We called the other EcoWater system provider in the Phoenix area and found that the service charge was $52 and that would be deducted from your bill if you had additional charges due to repairs. read more

Dishonest business, even though the technicians are nice and good. I had them fixed our water softener recently. When I first called them asking how they would charge for labor to fix the leaking problem, the representative told me overall I needed to pay $105 for labor. To confirm I asked back if there would be any extra charge for labor and the representative said NO. However after the technician came and he charged me another $105 for labor. He said the first $105 only covers 30 minutes of labor and after first 30 minutes they charge $52 per 30 minutes. It is sneaky that they didn't tell exactly how they charge labor upfront. In addition the service manager is really rude. After I explained to him that I was unhappy that the representative didn't tell me $105 only covers 30 min labor and they would actually charge $52 per every 30 minutes, and suggested him that they should tell the client how exactly they charge clearly upfront, the manager said:" We have been doing business like this for 20 years, I could clean out all the charge but don't call us any more for any business! I had a leak under my kitchen sink (RO faucet) & was not feeling the soft water function in the shower. Dana came out from AAW, quickly diagnosed the RO leak and repaired it, then went to work on the soft water system. Dana took his time to properly arrive at a plan, then replaced the beads in the soft water system. He was also careful to work clean and neat and was extremely courteous the entire time. I have been a customer of AAW for many years and was very glad I had their maintenance contract (saved me a bundle). Great job Dana! read more

After spending several hundred dollars getting the system working by one of their techs, I noticed the water was staining my glass and did not feel soft any longer. I purchased a soft water system as well as a RO system for my home and I would say I am less than impressed. I heard about the company through Costco and thought they would be a company that I could trust and deal with easily. What I found is that they whoo you with all of the benefits and discounts, but the fine print doesn't tell you about the lack of ability to get a hold of someone to make reasonable payments (because they want the interest at the end); or that if you want to replace, service, or do anything with the system it has to go through them. Not convenient and the product is not worth the company hassle. I actually tried to see if they would come and take the system back and uninstall, but THE FINE PRINT, stated I couldn't. Recently had a water softener installed. Very pleased with the quality of the softener as well as the work that was done in my home.

Our water softener bit the dust. It was included in the sale when we bought our house and it looked pretty old. I don't think it ever worked properly. After meeting with several reps we decided to go with ALL ABOUT WATER (ECO WATER SYSTEMS). The rep was very informative and we discussed buying new vs. buying a reconditioned unit. We decided to purchase the reconditioned unit, saving us about $600. We purchased the unit in June, 2011. It came with a full warranty and maintenance schedule and we have it serviced annually. The fee is $105 for the service call plus parts and labor which totals approximately $143. A few months ago I noticed hard water spots on the dishes, kitchen sink, etc. I checked the unit and it was full of water. Called ALL ABOUT WATER (ECO WATER SYSTEMS), they said it would be $105 for the service call plus parts and labor. I wasn't happy since we just recently had the annual maintenance performed, but what are you going to do? When the tech came out he was there about 15 minutes and the repair was done. He said some of the lines were clogged and a small part was either missing or broken, I forget his exact wording. Anyway he fixed the problem, said we were all set and the water in the tank would drain out and we should notice soft water in a few hours. When he got ready to leave I asked how much I owed. He replied "no charge". He said the problem was so minor it was a courtesy call. Thank you ALL ABOUT WATER (ECO WATER SYSTEMS) for standing behind your product and you're continued outstanding service. It is good to know that there are honest companies around that still take pride in the product they represent and aren't just trying to rake in a buck.
