I always feel like All German Auto is repairing and maintaining my car like they would for their own family member. I watch my budget and Troy is always willing to tell me when something can wait and when something needs to be done asap. I've been going to AGA for years. Just one example of their dedication was an expensive transmission repair they caught before it failed and left me stranded on my 2003 Porsche Cayenne. The car was in the last two months of an after market warranty. They had to fight to get it covered but prevailed. When it was time to get a new car, they helped me choose a car based on their extensive first hand knowledge of high maintenance models, less than stellar years vs fun but lower maintenance cost when things do go bad, and reliability. They also did a pre purchase check that saved a friend of mine future maintenance costs while she could still negotiate a better price on a used Porsche Cayman S. They are keeping my 2006 BMW on the road long after many would sell, saving me thousands in car payments. I'm always impressed when the courtesy shuttle takes me home and I see it's often an older car with 200k plus miles. I'm a raving fan. There aren't many German car specialist in North County. I was going 30 minutes away for a BMW specialist. Then I saw an ad for All German Auto and decided to try them out. The Oceanside facility is only 3 miles from my home. I'm so happy I found them. They perform quality work at excellent prices. They know and understand the cars that come in to their shop. I went in for an oil change, knowing I had a leak in my valve cover area. They were up front in diagnosing an issue and scheduled the repair for me ASAP. Anyone who owns a BMW / Audi / Mercedes...knows that repairs and maintenance come with the joy of ownership. So, make sure you find a shop that knows your car and the tolerances which the Germans build into their product. Finding that specialist who is also reasonably priced, is icing on the cake. I am terribly disappointed. I had a very good experience here a few years ago with my Mercedes C230. I didn't even get the opportunity to see or talk to a mechanic. Deanna, the receptionist was so incredibly rude I was nearly in tears by the time we finished our conversation she kept cutting me off and wouldn't let me explain why I needed to bring it in at a particular time period she told me she didn't care she was busy. Hey, I just (sort of) found $2500! Long story short: took my car to Brecht BMW, the only Mini Cooper dealership remotely close to San Diego, asked them to look at my clutch since the car seemed to shudder when I disengaged in first gear. They determined it needed to be completely replaced--not covered by my extended warranty, of course--which would set me back at least $2000. The car was only four years old, so this seemed odd. I asked around for a good dealership alternative, and several trusted car geeks recommended All German Auto, who then quoted me $1400 for a new clutch. When I told the Brecht rep this, he responded that their work cost more because it was guaranteed for two years. I drove a few blocks to All German and within an hour, their service rep Troy called to let me know there was nothing wrong with the clutch. In fact, after two different people drove the car, both concluded that the clutch was quite strong. As a precaution, Troy asked if I'd come drive the car to see if I could duplicate the shudder. I drove the car down the street and Troy diplomatically pointed out that I was releasing the clutch too slowly and not getting enough rpms before shifting into second gear. With a little practice on my clutch technique, problem solved! Feeling both grateful and suddenly rich, I asked if they'd flush the power steering, brake, and coolant fluids, and give my car an oil change (all for about 1/2 of what Brecht quoted) while I was already there. They also washed and vacuumed my car, which it definitely needed. Final note: it may make sense to go to the dealership if your car is still under its original warranty; and to be fair, the Brecht greeter was very friendly and gave me lots of Mini Cooper swag (my favorite: a lightning bolt-shaped air freshener that "smells like action"). Still, when faced with the prospect of dipping into my savings for expensive repairs I don't need, I'll gladly forego the swag and take my car to All German Auto from now on. read more

In a nutshell: Clean, fast, knowledgeable, reasonable pricing and above all professional!! This is where you want to take your German cars period! I have no tolerance for complacency and neither do they, match made in heaven. I recently acquired an E39 M5 model year 2002. The machine has been dubbed "Jen" after my wife for some very simple reasons. She looks great in a strut, standing still, there isn't a bad angle on her and every sound she makes really gets my attention. She was also named Jen because she is expensive to maintain, will really make you pay if you ignore her, is infuriatingly complicated but every time I take her out for a good hard drive I walk away sweaty, exhausted, and with an ear to ear grin on my face! Whoa what a ride!! I needed to find a "go to" spot to really take good care of my beast and after one visit, I think I have my spot!! The storefront is very easy to recognize in a sea of industrial buildings. Parking is easily accessed and there is enough of it. The lobby really helps you gain confidence as they an authorized dealer for some of the most exclusive and sought after performance parts for German automobiles. Steve greeted my for my scheduled appointment and explained what would be included in the free ($135.00 value) first time customer inspection. I left Jen in his hands feeling confident I would know if I had to take out a second mortgage on my home for repairs or if I really had found and purchased the gem I thought I had. The following day I got a call from Steve and he explained that the car was in incredible condition. There were no immediate needs but a few things they recommended I do just to keep the car in the great shape it is in. Now here is where I was floored. NO PRESSURE...NO ALARMS...NO DOOM and GLOOM. Steve was matter of fact, I need rear brakes soon, clutch has 10-15k miles left depending on how I drive it (its a 2002 M5 with nearly 80k miles still on its original clutch which is incredible by itself). That was it...I was ready to go...I didn't know what to say. I asked them to drive the car...like really drive it...like he owned it and give me his impressions. He did just that and after gathering his impressions he had a second mech drive it too just to confirm. He let me know that the car was a bit shy on power, which I found hard to believe but hey more power, I'm game. The car was not breathing as well as it could and he recommended both mass air flow sensors be replaced. I happen to know those are over $500.00 each...from BMW. He chuckled and let me know he could have it done in a few hours with OEM parts for just under 600.00...DONE!!! I could not be happier with the results. Its like they dialed in an extra 20HP! When I eat I'm usually Asian but when I drink I'm Irish and when I drive I'm German. They had a car for sale here that I had my eyes on for weeks. After a few phone calls I finally went and looked at it in person. I was introduced to Anthony, the sales manager. Pretty cool guy. Hes the guy that I had been talking with since the beginning and for a car salesman he was pretty chill. Believe me, I know some shady car salesmen. I know how they operate. Im in the industry and Ive seen it all. Well, I would like to think that Ive seen it all. I probably havent. After checking out the car and test driving it I decided that I liked it enough to do some real negotiations. It was what I wanted. The right color, the right year so why not. Although I wasnt crazy about the interior color I convinced myself that I could live with it. I made an offer. Very quickly received a counter offer. Made my own counter offer. Received a final counter offer. F that. I countered that final offer.This was on a Friday. I told Anthony that I would like to think about it over the weekend. He says that it was fine. I went home to figure out how I was going to get up there the next day because I knew that the next time I saw the car I would be driving it home. Anthony calls me the following day and tells me that my counter offer was reconsidered and that they would be willing to meet me in the middle. Fine with me. I half expected them to reject my offer completely. So the very next day I was back at the lot. Reinspected the vehicle and showed it to my brother and a friend who drove us up there. Went into the sales office, signed some documents and made the deal happen. Turns out, after the deal was done , Anthony and I discovered that we had some mutual friends. Dude knows my cousin also. I originally found out about All German Auto when my BMW 550i was no longer under warranty and I needed a reliable and well reviewed place to perform an oil change and brake service. I took my car there and the service was done the same day and without any issues. The shuttle driver even drove me to work and picked me up once the job was completed.... ....Fast forward a few years and a couple of other BMWs in between, and I still bring my out of warranty cars here. The main service advisor that I've dealt with is Troy. He has been honest, informative and extremely helpful when any sort of maintenance or repair needs to be done. All the work that's been done to each car was thoroughly explained prior to the job and reviewed once completed. This sort of customer service is greatly appreciated! If you own a German vehicle, I would say this has got to be the best place ever for car repairs! I have brought my car here twice now and have always got the best service ever. I had a wheel bearing go out 2 1/2 years ago and took my car to a friends shop. They fixed the problem and then 1 year and 1 month later (after warranty was up) it went out again. Took it to another shop and the same problem happened a year later. Finally I took my car to All German Auto and they called me within the hour to say that the bearing had gone out but also the hub is tweeked and needed to be replaced. I had the car back that day with the issue fixed and the car has never run better. More recently I had some hesitation problems and they quickly assessed my issue and fixed it by replacing the spark plugs. They even fixed a coolant hose for free. I must say that I am proud to own my car again. The technicians are awesome here and do not beat around the bush. If they spot a problem with the vehicle they will notify you about the issue but will not hassle you into emptying your wallet to fix the problems. They let you fix it at your own pace. I only wish I had more cash to take my car in and get it running like new. If I had the cash I would drive over to All German right away. Oh and they do an awesome job washing your car for you after service. read more

I just recently passed the mileage that covered my maintenance from the dealer and I looked towards Yelp to help me find my next BMW mechanic. I had gotten a Check Engine light event on my 328i and the car was running VERY rough. So, I got a AAA tow over to AGA to have them take a look. Long story short, the AGA team is excellent. Fantastic customer service, great communication (which a LOT of shops fail on), REALLY nice facility, etc. I would recommend AGA to anyone with a 2000+ German vehicle. We got our valve seals changed on a 740iL for an unexpectedly low price - as they make a "kit" other mechanics can buy to perform the same for less then a normal valve stem job. Frankly we saved many thousands for the job and I'm satisfied with the work. I waited a few months before posting to ensure their work held true - and it has. I have a 2005 Mercedes SL 500. Great car except when the ABC suspension starts to act up. This is a very complicated system and requires a real technician to find out where the problem is located! Well do not fret and do not take chances. Instead, take your car to Chance Whitaner at All German Auto. He is a real Mercedes professional and will find where the problem is located and then he will fix it. The service Manager (Troy) is also great guy and will work with you to make sure you understand all the service/cost options available. My SL 500 is back on the road thanks to Chance and Troy. I had driven down from the Bay Area and had developed a clunk/rattle in the front end. Wanted to get it checked out before the return journey and was recommended to go here. I did not connect the dots earlier but these are the guys who started the professional specialty tools that are now even used by the BMW dealers. I was squeezed in without a hassle and from the moment I stepped in was treated really well. I described my issue and Troy came out to listen and then had their tech Dave take it out for a drive. Diagnoses was done and they even tightened up the front end. They were thoroughly professional and didn't even charge me since they said they didn't need to put anything new and wished me safe travels.. I don't doubt the quality of the work or the integrity of the staff, but simply needing an oil change and battery took 6 hours. I was impressed that they fit me in and was originally told it would take only a couple of hours to do the work. 3.5 his later I was told the service was done, but the battery I had purchased was an incorrect size. I agreed to let them install a different one at a higher price. After it was done, I took the car to the dealership and showed them the originally purchased battery. Though not stock, it was the correct specification. the new battery had a but more cranking power, I don't live or drive in cold weather. While convenient and close to my house, I think I will move onto other options for future service of my BMW. read more

Martin and his staff are professional and they take the time to explain everything to their customers...symptoms, causes of the symptoms, what can be done to repair the issue without putting a dent in your pocket. I struggled (for a month) to get my 540i to pass smog and it FINALLY passed today. He found a few missed welds in my exhaust, fixed them, and did not even charge me. There definitely are honest and good people out there, and the folks at All German Auto can attest to that. If you're having problems with your car and you live in Chula Vista, make the trek up to North County. If you live in LA or Riverside County, come down to Escondido and get your car serviced by Martin. It'll be worth your effort. read more

I've been taking my BMW X5 to All German Auto for about a year now, and recently we started taking my wife's BMW 3-series there as well. Our local BMW dealer was just getting too expensive, and it seemed they were having trouble with some simple things (they needed to call in their "electrical expert" to figure out why I was getting a "side light" warning message on my dashboard - it was just that the "angel eye" headlights were out Easily diagnosed by spending 10 seconds in a Google search). Based on the recommendation of a colleague at work, I called Troy at All German Auto when my car needed a major repair (white smoke from the exhaust when accelerating). BMW of Vista estimated nearly $10k (though they came down considerably when I said I'd have to look elsewhere), but Troy told me All German Auto had developed a tool that let them do the repair without having to pull the entire engine out (standard procedure in the official BMW repair manual). This meant the labor cost was WAY lower - with a total of about 65% less than what the BMW dealer had quoted. I've been going to Troy ever since. I appreciate their thoroughness, especially by letting me know that, while they've got things taken apart to do one repair, it would be a good time to take a look at some other things that might need attention - so they don't have to do the tear-down all over again at some point in the future. It can make the immediate bill higher, but it makes sense in the long run. Troy tells me what's needed, and gives me an idea of what should be done sooner rather than later, versus what can wait a while. We did have one job that went a bit sideways, and I have to say that Troy really stepped up to make things right, including arranging for my car to be picked up at home, because the timing was such that I couldn't take it in myself. He even had it dropped off when everything was fixed. He then called a few days later to make sure I was happy. I have to say that the only thing I miss about taking my car to the BMW dealer is the free BMW loaner car. With AGA, you get a great rate on a basic car at nearby Enterprise.. And they'll pick you up and drop you off. In any case, the amount of money I'm saving on the actual repair work is more than enough (many times over) to pay for a rental car. In the showroom, and when I call, Tanya at the front desk is always a pleasure to chat with. Very friendly and efficient. Great crew at All German Auto. This review is way overdue. I've used All German Auto for over 10+ years and four cars. Interestingly my first experience sucked. AGA installed a new blower fan which turned out to have had a broken piece in it. I had to take it to the dealership for diagnosis and repair. Upon learning this, Martin, the owner of AGA, promptly took responsibility and reimbursed the cost I incurred at the dealership. I still remember him saying something like, "We're not perfect, but we'll make things right." Indeed, and that is reassuring. Since that time, I've had nothing but good experiences. Troy is an excellent service manager that's helped me out with a number of car issues. He listens well and recognizes that his recommendations have to bring good value to the car owner, not selling something unnecessary. Anthony, who does their car sales, is also great. They have a vehicle location service that bids for you at car auctions, and although I didn't ultimately buy a car through them, will consider it in the future. Kudos to All German Auto. read more

I dropped off my 1985 Mercedes for a tune up, thinking they'd only need to have it for 2 days, max. 7 days later they call me saying they need more time, despite the fact I had said multiple times that I was leaving town that weekend and needed the car back. They claimed to do all this maintenance and charged me $3000. I should've said no. I've since shown it to my regular mechanic in LA and he can't believe it. The oil wasn't changed, the engine was a mess, a new belt they put in is already starting to rip, a two caps were off...they missed all kinds of issues that were fixed immediately, and cheaply!, upon another, more trustworthy, mechanic. All German Auto (AGA) is awesome! I had Jon as my service adviser and he was honest, helpful and AGA is lucky to have him. My VW (never getting one again) was having problems with the ABS system and not even the VW kearny Mesa dealer could figure out what was wrong, but AGA found the mechanical and electrical problem with my ABS unit (it wasn't the fuse panel like the dealer thought). It was $109 here to just diagnose my VW which gets applied back into the price to fix it if there is a problem. Also, they even offer a shuttle service up to 15 miles! I really appreciated that. If you have a German car I highly recommend this place. German cars are always going to be expensive to fix, but AGA is fair, knowledgeable, professional & has wonderful customer service. I apologize in advance for the long story: My vehicle-2008, X5, 4.8 (N62 engine), 105K Miles I recent was told that my Valve Stem Seals might have failed (tale-tale sign of slight oil consumption (haven't had an oil consumption problem since I've owned the vehicle), ZERO noticeable oil leaks on the garage floor or on/under the engine, and blue-ish/black (oil smelling) smoke coming from my tailpipes after idling for a couple of minutes. The dealership advised that it would be around $9K - $11K in repairs. I was on a BMW forum and I knew that there was special tool kit that could be used and the cost would be substantially reduced because the mechanic would not have to take the top half of the engine off. After a little searching, I found All German Auto Inc (AGA), in Escondido California, which was about 300 miles from me (less than a tank of gas from Vegas). I called AGA, "Rick" told me they could get me in, the cost would be around $3100 (to include an oil change), and they would need the vehicle for 3-4 days. I thought I might as well take a short vacation in the Oceanside/San Diego area and made the appointment and dropped my vehicle off. Rick said they would check the vehicle out and let me what they find. I'm thinking most repair shops usually FIND SOMETHING ELSE right, well, quite the contrary. He called and told me that after a thorough check of the vehicle, to include a pressure/leak test, they didn't find anything else and agreed the Valve Stem Seals have failed. He told me he would let me know if the Upper Timing Case Cover Seals, apparently another known leaking area, were leaking after they removed the Valve Covers. Once the valve covers were off he advised me that my Timing Case Cover seals were NOT showing any signs of leaking (now that's integrity). He offered me the opportunity to have them replaced (since they had access to them at that point) at a reduced cost, I opted out, but asked them to replace the spark plugs at that time. I dropped the vehicle off Tuesday and got the vehicle back on Friday at 2:30 PM. Total cost for Valve Stem Seals replacement, Oil Change and Spark plug replacement was $3369.00. They even performed a quick wash and vacuum (nice touch). All German Auto Inc, Rick Reveles-The Service Advisor and Pete-The Mechanic, were very professional, informative and effective. I got my vehicle back in 3.5 days, saved $$, had a short vacation with family and I am no longer smoking/choking people out at a stop light after idling for a couple of minutes. Like other customers, I found AGA due to my leaky valve stem seals for my BMW. I was very impressed with Rick Reveles and team at AGA for their great communication and repairs. Like most car enthusiasts, I am very particular about who is working on my vehicle. Rick provided a reasonable quote, ensured I had a rental vehicle taken care of on their account for a few days, and provided me with phone calls/e-mail picture updates! I had this original work done there in OCT 2017 for the valve stem seals and was under a 1-year warranty. Fast forward 10 months and another leak had occurred from the valve cover gasket; which they honored and replaced at no charge and quickly under warranty. Their team got me in their shop the same day I called even. Rick & team also advised me that it was just 1-side that required these repairs, and offered me the option of replacing the other side even though it was bone dry; which I opted out of, but we discussed this in detail before making that call. My only trigger/complaint/concern is knowing that for such an extensive, costly repair that the warranty is fairly short being only a year as it's known to be an ongoing issue in these vehicles; I guess I would expect it to be at least 2 years/16K miles like some other shops I have worked with in the past. That said, AGA is and will continue to be a go-to shop for all of my BMW service needs! Definitely recommend using their services. read more
