I've eaten at All Star many times and generally like their food so I hate to beat up on them too much but - they seriously need to get a better ordering system! Most of the time things are fine but today ( Friday ) was extremely busy at lunch. Stood in line for 15 minutes and still only got half way through. Many of us have an hour or so for lunch and just no way to eat in that time as long as ordering was taking. In the meantime, there were multiple food runners just standing around - any reason you can't add an extra register or two for the busy times? Ended up walking out. One last note - the few unoccupied tables were pretty filthy. I get that you were busy but someone needs to clean tables a bit more frequently. read more

This was a disappointment for me, just because I heard so many great things about it. It just didn't deliver. My burger was really heavy...like hockey puck heavy and a bit on the dry side. I like a good sear on my burger, but the patty was on the grill way too long and I could taste it. If I threw the patty at my daughter (which I wanted to because she was complaining about the fries), I think I would have had to take her to the ER for stitches. It was DENSE. Hard to believe all the 5-star ratings for this place. All I can think is that the people in the Bee Cave area have too much money on their hands and don't mind massively over paying for a pretentiously fancy hamburger. The burgers are just not good enough to justify the prices here. I understand that the ingredients are supposed to be the highest quality available - and maybe they are. Fancy buns made from artisinal wheat harvested and ground by PhD nuclear physicists; highest grade organic free range beef raised by angels in fields of golden clover, etc. OK. That's all fine and good, but if the result is just an OK burger, all you're doing is paying _a lot_ of money for an OK burger. I should note that I've only had a normal cheeseburger here. If I was willing to pay even more for a bunch of fancy toppings designed to mask the underlying normality of these burgers, I might like it better, but I'd be taking out a second on the house to pay for it. A family of four, including two small kids, not buying anything especially fancy, and no alcohol, cannot eat here for less than $45. That is crazy for hamburgers (and a grilled cheese for one of the kids). There are better, and much less expensive, options nearby. I would honestly prefer Whataburger to All Star. I've been here about 5 times now. Out of the five times I visited or had it delivered(they only deliver to people who work or live in the Galleria), I've only had one burger that I actually enjoyed. On the one good experience, I had the "make my day" burger. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy and fried egg was the perfect amount of runny yolk. The other four experiences I ordered pretty much plain burgers/fries. Overly greasy...and I'm a person that loves greasy food. The fries were super soggy. It's hard to compete with all of the burger options in Austin but this place is somewhat isolated in the Bee Cave area so not as much competition probably helps it out. I was so turned off by the bacon on my "cheesy" fries that it was hard for me to give my burger a fair review. I don't know why places throw bacon on things without telling you first. I read about the S'mores Shakes on an Austin blog, so as a Father's Day treat, we popped in to try them out. Yum, yum, yum! A chocolatey shake with mini chocolate chips, graham cracker, and toasted marshmallows tastes just like a campfire version. Fast service, fun place to check out. We'll be back to try the burgers. 4 stars just for the $5 price per shake, which is a bit on the high side, but given the location (Galleria) it fits the neighborhood. read more

Love this place. We recently moved and are now only 5 or so minutes away and have eaten here a bunch of times in the past 2 months. Pros: Burgers are cooked a perfect medium unless requested for them to be destroyed. I'll take my chances with food poisoning for a perfectly cooked burger. Always juicy and flavorful. Pour your own wine, love it. Fries, sweet potato fries, and homemade chips are amazing. Sources ingredients locally if possible. Con: It's expensive for the portion size. $8 - $10 for a single burger with no fries is really pushing it for the size of burger received. Fries or chips adds another $2 - $3, so you're at $11+ without even a drink. Comparatively, you get about 2 times more food at hopdoddy's for the same price or about the same amount for 30% less at huts. That pretty much makes it the most expensive burger place in Austin by my estimation. Will definitely keep coming back. Just wish the price was a bit lower or included fries or chips with a burger. read more

I've been here a few times. I love the burgers! I try something new every time I come. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. My family and I dined in yesterday afternoon. One of the very few outings we've been on since our son, Levi was born and been out of the NICU. He's been out 1 week and is 3 months old. I decided that since we were eating, it would be nice to feed my son, too. Since I'm sitting down already it would be easy. And by this I do mean Breastfeed. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE FACES THE STAFF MADE AT ME. I was completely covered up, and no skin could be seen what so ever. Can you believe they didn't even want to make eye contact? We were treated very badly. All Star Burger is one of the better hybrid, casual fast-food restaurants to grace the Austin/Lakeway area. You place your order at the counter, a la fast-food, but have your food delivered to your table. The ambiance is welcoming for sit down and as many people noted, the inside is hip with wine pours and beers for those old enough. The service staff is super polite, nice, and helpful, and even though this is a fast-foodesque place, I felt the service warranted a tip. The burgers are huge and juicy. They even mention this on their menu, on the table, pretty much everywhere. This is not a burger I could imagine travels well, so I only come here to eat in. While the up side is that the burgers are tasty and juicy (and messy!), the down side is that I can't take this to go when I'm feeling a bit anti-social. The fries and drinks are also delicious. I'm so happy to see another kid and wallet friendly restaurant open up close to my home! All Star has a good menu for everyone in my family. My hubby loves beef burgers, while I enjoy veggie and tuna burgers. And my daughter loves the fries! It is not a sit down and order establishment, but they make it very easy on guests by bringing your food to you, cleaning up after you, etc. Prices are fair for 'gourmet' burgers. The fries are a little overpriced and not my favorite in town (Central Market has the best sweet potato and regular fries!). The wine selection is decent and very reasonable on the wallet. My only reason for taking away 1 star is just that there are better burger places in Austin. Passing All Star strictly by chance I stopped in for a burger. I had something in mind after reading the menu, however the sales staff at the counter steered me towards something new. My only complaint is that I went in after "winning" a free shake on Instagram and the staff had no idea what I was talking about even after I showed them the comment they left on my Instagram! They refused to give me my free shake and instead offered me a buy one get one deal, which was appreciated, but certainly not free! Stopped in for lunch and paid $14 plus tax. Got a Make My Day burger, fries and a soft drink for that. That OK if its really good. Supposed to be on Texas toast, More like Wonder Bread. In short, we felt it was over-priced and not tasty. I had my standby, a plain cheeseburger. For a $7 burger I want to love it. I did not. I didn't even eat half of it. The patty was dense and chewy and over-peppered. It came on a paper lined pan and was in a pool of grease. I needed two napkins to soak up the grease so I could set my burger down with out the bun drowning. The cheese that was on there had melted off. The French fries were enough to feed a whole family. Seriously, for four bucks I expect a freezer mug and an umbrella. When a gent came to clear our plates it was obvious we didn't eat much. He offered is a box which we declined. He seemed shocked we didn't care for the food. The owner came over, apologized and refunded our money. We didn't ask him to, but he did. He was very kind. We went for lunch around 11:45 on a weekday. Not crowded, not empty. Nice and clean. The order didn't take to log to receive. Management was very polite and professional. All Star is known for their amazing burgers, but their salads are always fresh and have an abundance of flavor and a nice variety of veggies. I have a hard time choosing between the Family Garden, Pioneer Chopped or Shanni's Super Food as all are excellent. Their dressings are homemade and compliment the veggies perfectly. In these crazy covid times I was quite disappointed to see all of the kitchen staff without masks on and the two young women working the registers without masks on -- well, one put hers on when I walked up, the other left hers hanging off one ear. This review is from someone who, admittedly, eats a LOT of All Star. I work across the street and frequent this place at least every couple of weeks. Few restauraunts I have experienced have been as consistent in excellence as All Star. Every burger I've had was cooked fresh, incredibly juicy, delicious and always at a perfect "medium" (pink in the center). You can tell they take excellent care of their employees as well because I'm always greeted with a sincere smile, my name which they remember, and my side of ranch which they also remember I always ask for. 5 star customer service truly. I didn't study the menu, I had business on my mind so when it was my turn to order, I ordered the pioneer chopped salad. Within a few days after contacting All Star, the Manager called me to express his concern about the incident. He was very sincere in trying to resolve and work w/ his staff to avoid this. As I explained, All Star is the best in my opinion around town and it was surprising to me, too. Shane, Manager, sent me a gift certificate and asked me to reach out to him when we return. WE WILL RETURN, I know based on many other visits, this was just a bad incident. We'll give it another chance and no doubt it will not happen again. I'll keep all posted. Lesson learned - we all have bad days/incidents, but if the lessons can be applied to make them better, it works out all around. ___ On Friday, 6/7, at approximately 3:05 PM, three in my party went to All Star Burger joint in the Galleria. Each of us have gone there numerous times together, at least once a month. Previously we have thought this place is the greatest. It beats all the burger joints we've tried in Austin. And each of us have traveled throughout the world and nothing compares. In fact, one of us owned a cafe in Colorado before and she certainly is hard to please based on the location, menu and presentation. She thinks highly of All Star. Well on this day, each of us were completely dissatisfied. The burgers were sad in appearance. While we each asked for pink in the middle, only 1 was truly. One order was lettuce wrap vs. the buns. The lettuce was wilted and had lots of brown stains. Normally in my "West" burger, it is overloaded w/ peppers, I probably got a table spoon only. The best was the fries with cheese and bacon - they were delicious. We called the server and began the conversation on the beauty of the fry order, and then showed him the wilted lettuce. I also asked if they had gotten a new cook because the burgers appearance was less than satisfactory. His response was a blank look and then we had to ask him to bring fresh lettuce. One of us could not deal with the burger as it was dry and overdone. We again called a manager and explained the situation. His response, would you like us to make another one? Duh. As we know your burgers are custom made to each order, so this meant, the rest of us had to go on with eating our meal. Finally, the 3rd burger came. The waiter simply gave it to her and asked if this was better. Again a duh, she just received it. He did return later, but fact is he didn't truly show any empathy on the situation. Conclusion: 1) Strongly recommend a lesson in Customer Service. How to show more concern for a bad product and perhaps another appetizer (free of charge) while the parties continue their lunch together vs. having the one customer watch in anticipation for their order to be redone. 2) Consider looking at the staff on duty this date, what went wrong? Normally we go on Friday, and usually a little earlier, but this place only had about 4 other tables filled. I have sent an e-mail on their website about the dining and we'll see if they respond and try to do right by me. It was a $37 bill. Yes, All Star is not cheap, plan on spending at least $12 for a burger, fries, and drink. There is no waiter service to take your order, you go to the counter. A waiter does deliver it. read more
