    Crispy beef taco plate delivered.

A Lake Travis area staple! Still serving up some of the most authentic Mexican and TexMex in central TX. Not much has changed since my first visit many years ago. Still super casual, really great food at reasonable prices, friendly staff and servers. Carne quisada is still HIGHLY recommend. I've pretty much worked my way through the menu, except breakfast, and that's on my to do list. :) Everything hits right. While they are indeed very good, oddly the tamales are not my favorite thing the restaurant offers. Maybe I'm just a weirdo. Merp. I don't know what they do, but their crispy tacos are the yummiest I've ever had. I recently ordered a taco plate for delivery and was skeptical of how it would arrive (soggy, etc?). They packed everything brilliantly. Wrapped the crisp corn shells in foil and put the meat and toppings in separate containers. Easily assembled and just as yummy as in the restaurant. Yay! Or or no! Lol. Some extra lbs coming my way? Too easy! If you've never visited Rosie's, I would only ask what are you waiting for? ;)

Heart attack or suicide taco. I can't remember what it is called.

Lovely, family owned and run place for breakfast tacos! The owner is very friendly and the service is pretty good. I've only ever been for breakfast tacos so can't speak to much else. Go every time I can! I

Look if your looking for the best cheese enchilada around here this is your spot ! Be sure to get them with onions and side of sour cream! I've been coming here since I was a kid in the 80's back when Rosie use to be there but she's got the cameras on at home and she's watchin'! Some people like to give Rosies are hard time but you go here to eat! Nothings changed since the 80s that's what we love about it ! The tortilla soup is delicious & the crispy tacos & street tacos & don't forget about the Willie Plate! It's BYOB ! We love it he vibes and the food and the staff! I'm telling you the tortilla soup saves the day! Rice and breaks original Rosies style & of course the chips & salsa good ! This place is the original blue print of real local 512 food & vibes !

JAN 07, 2021 was looking for a place for early morning breakfast with a friend, and Rosie's Tamale was open. The doors open at 6am There is plenty of seating and "Fox" happily met us to take care of our breakfast get together. They have a dedicated breakfast menu. First off the coffee was decent, typical diner style , but not your $5 cup of joe from the named joints. Was not bitter and hit the spot. I ordered two breakfast tacos one being Egg and Chorizo and the other Egg and Bacon. First off, I just needed one Taco. Two definitely filled me up. The Chorizo and Egg was salty. I know the sausage is normally salty, but this was a little too much. The egg and bacon was perfect . The hot sauce (red) was good. Just enough bite, and good flavor. Would I go back again, yes, it is perfect for those early morning breakfast needs, a place to sit down., And based on the amount of to go orders , it seems to have a decent working man's following. Plenty of seating Good distancing Servers do wear a mask Food was good, but the Chorizo was overly salty

Cinco de Mayo 2023 is in full effect and every Mexican place is packed. We tried to get into La Popular at 5pm but they put us on a 2 hour waitlist. After being unable to procure drinks at the bar, we decided to go somewhere else. We decided on Rosie's Tamale House. We couldn't deal with another long wait because our friends had young children. So with 2 young kids in tow we made our way to the opposite end of the spectrum of the Mexican Restaurant experience. We traded the flashy neons for gothic stanchions against wood paneling. We optioned for the crushed velvet portraits of conquistadors over flat screen tv's. We passed on the packed buzz of a brand new scene to revisit the old staple. A photo wall, two claw machines & a bubble gum dispenser greeted us where a rock garden in an industrial planter would have been at the previous location. Mexicans don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It's just some drummed up holiday to get us to consume. So in this spirit, we bought a 12 pack of Pacifico, a bottle of Dolce Vita, and plopped down at a family owned Tex Mex joint and ordered the basics. Every single bit of it was exactly what we wanted and needed. You see, Tex-Mex is part American, just like this holiday. So it made perfect sense that we were all guided here to Rosie's; the absolute right place at the right time. There was no fanfare, no marketing, not even a "special" to commemorate the Battle of Puebla. It was the same refried beans, Mexican rice, queso, guacamole, salsa and sizzling fajitas whose flavor has stayed the same for decades. We ate our fill and won some prizes at the claw machine. We took photos, shared conversations and shots of tequila (cause true Tex Mex joints are BYOB). Best part was we were home and settled long before we got the text message alert that our table at La Popular was ready.

Food was great as always. Visit every time I come into town. Tea costs $2.00 now which used to be free. Chips and salsa are $2.00 now which used to be free. My favorite waiters Joe and Juan were not working. Credit card machine was down. Good thing I had cash on hand.

If you don't like Rosie's, honestly, you're wrong.

Once you're inside, though, the whole operation runs with impressive efficiency. You order at the register, take your receipt, and hand it off to one of the taco guys behind the counter. As the sign says, "No Ticket, No Taco!" so don't lose it. Seating is limited and the line can get long, but they move fast. And don't come expecting cheese or sour cream -- the only add‑ons here are cilantro, onions, salsa, and guacamole. It's a stripped‑down menu, and they stick to it. The tacos are solid. The beef isn't anything remarkable, but the chicken is tender, moist, and genuinely flavorful. The quesadilla is the sleeper hit; the baked cheese gives it a deep, savory punch that outshines the tacos. And if you're hungry or just want the best value, the burritos are enormous -- stuffed right up to the tortilla's structural limit. The onions and cilantro greatly balance each bite, while the salsa and guacamole are necessary and fundamental to tying the flavors together.. Somehow I'd never been despite living so close, so I was excited to finally check it off my list. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and their famous foyer is just as pretty in person as everyone says. I came with a friend, and we grabbed seats at the bar first while waiting, but I definitely recommend making reservations because this place is BUSY, even on a weeknight. Parking can also be a bit of a struggle since they have a pretty small lot. I had to make a few laps before I finally found a spot, so definitely give yourself a little extra time. They do offer valet, and I believe you may also be able to park in the lot next door after hours since it's their sister restaurant, but don't quote me on that haha. Their margaritas are also really good and definitely on the stronger side, so they were a great way to start the meal. The staff here was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. They even walked us to our table and later showed me where the bathroom was, which I thought was a really nice touch. As for the food, it definitely lives up to the hype. It's on the pricier side, but everything tasted incredibly fresh and was well worth it. We ordered the enchiladas, which were delicious, and the shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal because it was so fresh and perfectly cooked. I can definitely see why this restaurant has been around for so long and has such a loyal following. It took me way too long to finally come here, but I'll definitely be back. One thing I'm noticing as we do these is that you often write reviews that are genuinely useful--not just "food good/bad." You include things like reservations, parking, what to order, or where to sit. I think we should keep leaning into that because it feels very authentic to your style and makes your reviews stand out.
