First time here and the service was really good. Staff was helpful and patient as I stared long and hard at their plentiful menu full of variety. Many different toppings, types of cheese and even lettuce types! Finally decided to get just the basic all star burger and sweet potato fries. Food was tasty except the turkey burger was still pink signifying it was undercooked. I've rarely had to send a turkey burger back anywhere because it was not done. Most places know that turkey is poultry and poultry that's not cooked is not good for all involved. I let the staff know and they asked if I wanted a new one (I guess the other option was a refund). Second burger was definitely well done as requested. Of course having to get my burger redone meant my sweet potato fries went cold. Hence the four stars instead of five. My experience left me with much to desire. The location is nice, located in a higher end shopping plaza, which explains the high prices. Upon entry the staff weren't exactly friendly, I kind of felt like a burden in some sense. I ordered 2 "all star" burgers and a drink, for a total of $28. Similar to five guys prices but much smaller portions. The presentation of the burger was great. It looked delicious but it wasn't very nice. The buns which had a very shiny appearance were very chewy. The patty itself felt like a cheap sams club patty. Typical ground beef usually falls apart to some degree, this felt like it was glued together. Not very appealing along with the large amount of grease dripping below. The lettuce and tomato was fresh, but the onions should of been sweet not red as they have an extremely harsh smell and taste, kind of like body odor. I didn't mind the fries, although I wasn't blown away by it. Overall I wouldn't go back. The quality of the food really lacked and it seems the price is merely to keep up with the price of their lease and the typical customer shopping in the area probably wouldn't think twice about it. Austin is known for its quality food, and competition is tough. I'm not really sure how this place is thriving other than pure convenience of location. read more

That being said, the last couple of times I've been here I have found the burgers done to the next level beyond what I asked for (medium well = well done, etc.). They have an interesting assortment of burgers on the menu, but I couldn't find one that had all the ingredients I wanted. I settled for The Veteran, which has abundant green chilis. What I wanted would have included jalapenos and avocado, but I saw nothing that matched, and no menu offer of custom burgers. For a gourmet burger joint, you should be able to roll your own. I agree with Errol that the burgers are a sloppy mess to eat--sloppier than a hamburger needs to be. I eventually had to get a fork to take advantage of all the delicious ingredients that fell off the burger. The sweet potato fries are the ringer here. Perfectly fried, and full of real sweet potato flavor. The price of the large gourmet burger itself is reasonable ($8.75), but the small order of fries is high ($3.25), as are their smallish (but refillable) drinks ($2.50). You'll tab out at $15+ for one for that meal, and then they'll offer that you tip for walking the food to your table. Given that there are no follow-ups by staff for anything other than eventually busing the table (e.g., no offers to refill drinks or fetch forgotten silverware), I'd decline their most generous offer to tip for non-service. It's a reasonably good meal in an air-conditioned environment. Whoever thought outdoor malls were a good idea in Texas is pretty much insane. On a hot summer afternoon, it's worth the All Star Burger admission cost just to relax a few minutes and beat the heat. Recommended. read more

We were going to an outdoor event at the Hill Country Galleria and were approached by a young man handing out coupons for 15 % off from the Allstar Burger place. We thought that was great, let's support them and placed an order online so we could eat burgers at the concert. Nothing stated online orders were disallowed! We noticed there wasn't anywhere to enter the discount code but figured when we showed up to pickup our order, they would make it right. WRONG!!! We got there and asked for the discount to be applied and were told Nope not for online orders. I said well the Manager needs to make this right because it's not clear from this coupon and your guys are walking around pushing your coupons on the concert attendees. He said No, and he WAS the Manager. I said you've just lost a customer and I will be posting this less than one star review for deceptive coupons. We love burgers. I almost consider myself a burger connoisseur. All Star was not on my list of favorites mainly because I found their burgers to be greasy and just OK. We would eat here if it is convenient. However - a few days ago I had the white buffalo, and it was delicious. Good enough to add All-Star to my list of favorite burgers in Austin. My wife had one with jalapeños, she enjoyed it as well. They have a good number of options including vegan burgers, which I haven't tried. Avoid the nachos, they are a bomb of cheese and calories that can't be good for anyone. They have milkshakes, craft beer and wine. Most ingredients are locally sourced. There is a seating area outside and plenty of room inside. Service is fairly quick and friendly. If you don't like your burgers greasy, get a few napkins ready.
