The car owner went to this place to get an estimate. The shop called me and told me that the estimate was $700, which is under the $1000 threshold for an insurance surcharge. That's why I opted to go with insurance. Once the insurance was involved, I was told the estimate was over $1000, and that the shop would ask for a supplemental claim for even more money. When I called the shop to complain about the $700 estimate going over $1000. I was told that the original low estimate was only because the owner wanted to keep my out-of-pocket repair costs low and opted to not to do a 'full' repair. I wish they had told me that when I was given the $700 estimate, so I would know 'full' insurance repairs would be over $1000 and lead to a surcharge. Did the shop withhold information so they could make more money with an insurance repair? I'll let you decide.

Thankfully, the team at 1st Class Auto Body in East Boston came to the rescue. After the damage was appraised, I brought my vehicle to them for repair. They were reasonably busy and had to order parts to replace the damaged components, but I just picked it up and it looks absolutely beautiful. You'd never know it had been in an accident! I can't praise them enough. They kept me informed throughout the entire repair process with regular updates, which gave me great peace of mind. As an added bonus, they even cleaned the interior of my car before returning it. Between the flawless repair work and the attention to detail, my car looks and feels brand new. We recently had an unusual -- but finally very satisfying -- experience purchasing a car there. In May we saw a like-new low-mileage late model car there that we liked, and on May 30 I signed an agreement to purchase it. They said that they were awaiting the title for it, since it was a trade-in, and expected it momentarily. Unfortunately, "momentarily" turned into several weeks. Every couple of days we and they spoke or emailed, only to find that the title still had not arrived. We were all understandably frustrated with the delay. Eventually Steve found that the loan payoff for the previous owner had not been handled correctly, and the bank (in another state) would not release the title until the issue was resolved. Correcting this extended the wait even further. Finally, the title arrived, and we came in on July 17 to complete the purchase, register the car and get its plates. Everything went smoothly until they tried to process the registration, at which point the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles/RMV system was down. It was a Friday (and Massachusetts), so it remained down for the rest of the day. Rather than leave us stuck, they arranged for us to take the car with a dealer plate and return once the RMV system was working. It was back up on Monday, and we were then able to complete the registration and get our plates. There were several more loose ends. The car lacked floor mats, so they ordered them; they arrived in August. The owner's manual was in French, so they ordered one in English; it just arrived. The second key needed to be reprogrammed; they took care of it. Christian and Steve handled the entire ordeal well. They were always responsive, appreciative of our patience, and good-humored about a series of problems that were largely outside their control. Most importantly, they took responsibility for getting every issue resolved rather than passing along any problem, regardless how small, to us. They and Rashka even went through the many obscure controls with us and paired one of our phones with the car's Bluetooth. By the end, they had taken care of the title, registration, plates, floor mats, owner's manual in English, and second key. Buying a car shouldn't normally be this complicated, but Christian and Steve consistently did the right thing and followed through professionally on every problem and detail. We appreciate their patience and persistence, and would absolutely recommend Boston Motor Sports.

I love my Alfa and I'm glad I chose Boston Motorsports. My advisor was friendly and efficient, and obviously knowledgeable and passionate about Alfas. I needed some routine services performed and had several minor warranty issues with my 2022 Stelvio Veloce. Everything was expertly addressed in a few hours and the experience was completely hassle free. I had my chill dog with me and the waiting area felt a bit compact, so we took a walk. There is a public bike path, a bridge over the Charles, a shaded park/reservation area, dog park, and shops and restaurants all within a relaxing 10-20 minute walk. If you own an Alfa in New England, 10/10 this is the dealership to go to. Perfect experience. Lots of fun things to do nearby Cambridge/downtown Boston if you want to make a couple days trip of it!! Update: After owning a 2022 Stelvio Veloce for six months I upgraded to a 2022 Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Sierra at South Medford Auto Body took over for me like an absolute queen and was able to tell off the insurance company, get my car fixed, and make sure I had zero down time without a fully covered vehicle. They have been flexible, communicative, and a godsend with how stressful every other aspect of this process is. The repairs were faster than expected, and the team here clearly puts in effort to guarantee happy customers--beyond some extra fixes, they even repainted a part completely unrelated to the incident, simply because the color mismatch "was bothering them"! Just an amazing level of service all around, so glad I live nearby! The shop is also walking distance (~2 blocks) to two different car rental shops, so you can skip any needless ubers. The estimates were also different in details - the labor hourly rate was the lowest (charging a private customer the same as what insurance would accept) and the emphasis is on repair rather than simply replace. I worked with Siera (the owner) the entire time, and she's very easy, professional, courteous to work with. When they identified additional damage inside, she sent photos and explained what is needed, what can be repaired, and what may not be essential. Very easy to work with. They also have an agreement with Enterprise Car Rental across the street for inexpensive/easy rental during the repair. For those of us who don't know much about cars (and especially not about body repairs), it's really important to work with someone/a business that you can trust, and that is also helping you to save a few dollars whenever possible - and South Medford/Siera definitely does that. Highly recommended if you do have to get body repair done! Oh, they also washed the car even though they had to stay late on Saturday to finish it. Really appreciate it.

I bought a 150cc Vespa scooter in the Spring of 2008 and in the course of insuring it as a…read moremotorcycle my insurance company accidentally canceled the coverage on my regular car. In order to re-gain coverage on my car my insurer required an inspection and the closest agent they recommended was Auto Depot. I drove over there one day and walked up into the office. It turns out that the business was officially closed while they did inventory (and I think some staff were on vacation). Despite that, when they found out I needed an insurance inspection they grabbed the paperwork and a camera and took care of me. I was pleasently surprised that they did this while "closed" since I don't think inspections for insurance companies are a big money maker. A few months later (and after dumping the vespa on a street one day thanks to a wet manhole cover) I brought the scooter to them to see if they could repair a couple of dents and a lot of paint scratches. After taking some gentle ribbing about owing a scooter (I think some of the staff are serious motorcycle heads) they gave me a price estimate and told me it may take a few days of work since they'd have to custom match and mix the paint. At that point one of the owners offered to give me a ride back to Roslindale Village where I could easily walk or grab a bus back home to my house. They were unable to get official Vespa paint so they used some sort of optical scan gun to read the colors and generate the info they needed to have a shop mix up a custom batch. The end result was fantastic - except for some scratches on some chrome bits that I don't care about they fixed all the dents and matched the scooter paint *exactly* when repairing the body scratches. The final price was exactly what they had estimated as well - no surprises. So in summary: * They opened the shop just to perform an insurance inspection on my car * An owner drove me to Rozzie Village after I dropped off my scooter * They mixed custom paint when fixing the scooter and did great bodywork * The paint/bodywork estimate was exactly what I ended up paying Obviously this is just my $.02 but they've earned my loyalty and I'll be bringing the car back there some time to get some body panel scratches fixed. -chris

I called Auto Depot as soon as I got to town and they were able to get me right in. The service was incredible. Friendly, upfront staff. Not only fixed my car through the insurance claim but also a handful of other things, like an oil change and brakes. They're an all-service shop, which is really helpful. They were also able to somehow get my deductible lowered, which was really awesome and unexpected. My only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that I had also asked them to check my wipers and they forgot but that's really not a big deal. I'll call them and take it back in at some point, but really not a big deal. Overall, I think I've found my new favorite body shop. I would highly recommend them.
