They should really change the name from All Steak to The Pretentious Chef. This restaurant is under new management and the menu and atmosphere has changed dramatically. The once friendly casual atmosphere is now pretentious and uninviting. The menu items are the chef's vision and therefore cannot be altered or changed without an up charge. If you do not like a particular side item, too bad unless you're willing to be up charged. The menu is very limited. Don't bring teens or kids as there is very little on the menu for them. One of our very favorite places to eat. All the food here is amazing. And some unique just to them. Try their strawberry pretzel salad. That's something you can't get anywhere. I'm not one to write a review but since none of our concerns were addressed I'm forced to go this route. My friend's steak (ordered medium rare, emphasizing rare) was clearly over cooked. The cook came out to argue with us, insulting our intelligence, and would do nothing. The manager refused to do anything either. Then her takeout order for her husband came out. It was the tiniest piece of fish and a few green beans for $37! It was laughable. We called the manager who, again, refused to do anything while politely smiling and asking "is there anything else I can do?" No thanks, you did nothing. We asked for a discount on the bill. Again, no. My friend paid $82 plus tip for a whole bunch of disappointment. I had issues with my food too but time is short. The customer is always wrong at All Steak. The All Steak is under new ownership. Think of it as an entirely new restaurant. Service is still great, but the food has completely changed. The new menu is filled with thick sauces and heavy seasonings. This is rib sticking food that your grandparents would love. It's supposed to be farm to table but it's hard to tell because things are smothered and covered. The chefs know what they are doing and the food is cooked perfectly, but we have quit eating here weekly due to the heaviness of the food and a menu that we've tried to acclimate to, but just can't. The lunch menu has suffered the most. There is no longer a choice of meat and three. They have launched a new menu that features entrees that are better suited for dinner time. They are still heavily seasoned and floating in sauces and starches. Entree sides can be substituted for a price. The chef has a vision for each plate and you have to pay additional if you don't share that vision. Hate collard greens but love fried chicken? Too bad. You're gonna pay to substitute those collards. $4 for any substitute veggie. By the way, that fried chicken is delicious. So was the mac and cheese. I was in a coma for 6 hours after I ate it and my stomach threatened to emancipate. One day I'm going to get it again but I'm still waiting for it to digest. Get the gravy on the side. The good news is the steaks are still delicious, as is the hamburger steak. The salad dressings have changed. Or at least the ranch and thousand island have. They do not taste the same and the changes have not been for the better. The orange rolls are more fluffy and bread-like and less pastry-like with less juice than they used to have. The juice just sticks to the top of the roll but doesn't add much to the experience. They are now like a dry roll with an orange flavor. I definitely miss the pastry-like rolls from before. Those were special. These taste like the orange rolls places in Birmingham try and fail to make like the famous All Steak orange roll. Which, I guess, is exactly what these are now. read more

I went here with my parents and brother after church and we had the buffet. The buffet was so-so, about what you would expect from a lunch buffet and it was a little pricey but it is all you can eat. I wish I had ordered off of the menu. The service was great and they checked on us all the time and the orange rolls are really good, just a little doughy in the middle. I miss the old Allsteak. I miss the old menu. But most of all I miss quality steaks. We got the $30 flatiron and It had a gristle running all the way through It. While I know that happens, the chef sliced It to serve It and served It anyway. I returned It and got a hamburger steak $24. I ate It. No seasoning nor flavor- more than a few hard bony pieces. The salad was good. The fries and onion rings were tasty. But the quality of meat being ordered asking with the preparation, does not match the new prices. The All Steak must have changed owners, it has just reopened after a brief closure for renovations. We went for lunch and I noticed new light fixtures , updated decor and new menus. To me, the dining area was not as classy looking but that's just my opinion. A cocktail menu had been added to the menu and it had several new entree additions. My hubby had a steak, salad and Mac and cheese. He said the steak was tender and the mac & cheese which I sampled was creamy but rather bland . I had the shrimp and grits ($19.00) which didn't come with any sides. The menu said it had Parmesan grits , bacon and mushrooms with some type of wine sauce. I love good traditional, cheesy shrimp and grits -- this was not a traditional type recipe. It had about 5 small shrimp and the grits were creamy but didn't seem very flavorful -- not really cheesy nor spicy. I wasn't fond of the mushrooms with this dish. The sauce was just some kind of cream type sauce also without much flavor. And what really threw it off was the spritz of lemon juice (?) on top. All in all I was not satisfied. The bill was $55 and with tip came to over $60. I was pretty disappointed and I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

ALL STEAK: NOT HAPPY!! Yelp won't allow a ZERO star REVIEW, I wish they did. We purposely placed our appetizer and our main course order at the same time (the first moment we saw the waitress) just so we would not have to wait long - so much for that plan. All Steak had an EXTREMELY slow service and kitchen. It over an hour before our order was received. And I had to ask another waitress to look for our food. The couple/table next to us asked if we were having a bad experience we agreed we were. Proof we were not the only table struggling with the service or waiting for long periods getting food. My wife's dinner: She ordered the Spinach Salad - the spinach was not fresh/crisp, she called it "wilted". It had very little spinach and was drown with tons of orange slices. And the dressing was nothing she would ever eat. My dinner: I ordered their "Special Hand Cut Thick Cut Ribeye" with yellow squash casserole. Trust me, this was not a thick cut steak at all. It was a only 1/2 inch thick. To me, a standard restaurant steak should be 3/4 inch. It was over cooked. The manager came up and asked how our meal was. I told her the truth about the steak, I felt it wasn't their thick cut. She offered to replace it. I agreed to let her. She left and returned within 30 seconds with another steak, it exactly the same as before same size. It was actually another tables meal. It was not cooked fresh just for me. And it was again over cooked. I decided not to push my luck and ate some of it. The flavor was just OK. The squash casserole was fair to good. Neither the manager nor the waitress offered to reduce the check in any way. Lesson learned: We won't be returning to All Steak in Cullman, AL again. read more

I recently attended an event at this location. I was pleased to find out we would be served ribeye steak because I am a meat and potato's kind of guy. On arriving at the location, I was impressed with the decor and the niceties and conveniences located therein.. My anticipation grew. I was soon to learn that appearances can be deceiving. When the steaks were delivered to our table, I cut into it and it appeared to be cooked just the way I had ordered it. With great anticipation, I put the first bite in my mouth. Disappointment would be an understatement. Normally, if I have to put steak sauce on a steak, someone is going to have to prepare another steak. That was not an option at this event. An associate, seated with me at the table openly opined his disappointment. Albeit, this was for a party of about fifty, I would have expected a steak from a restaurant bearing such a name to be something exceptional. WRONG! I carefully surveyed the room to see if anyone was missing the tongues from their shoes. This could not be ribeye steak. I don't ever recall forcing down such a repulsive meal since survival training in the Marine Corps. It may have just been a bad night, but honestly, I can't take that chance again. I ordered the two things that I wanted on the menu. They didn't have either. I ordered something else an an appetizer....they didn't have the appetizer. I found out all of this Information about 10 minutes after I ordered it. Here's a brilliant idea management... Inform your staff of what you do not currently have...or even this idea...have the stuff on hand that you advertise. Another note, salads were inconsistent...some with tomatoes, some with carrots, some not. Steaks were thin. Sides didn't look good. I was not pleased with my experience at the All Steak, especially for what we paid for two dinners. My disappointment began when I had my taste set for one of two entrees that I saw on their printed menu at the front desk. They were unique items that you can't find at other restaurants. They were both a part of the Tonight's Specials that rotated. I was just hoping that at least one would be a special that night, and although most of the items on that list were available that night neither of the two I had spotted were. So that's not too big of a deal...just bad timing. We did get the ten $ appetizer sampler and were both shocked when a tiny plate came out with just two servings of each item. Items that were not worth the money. My issue is that the things that were wrong are simple things that should taste so good. While my first glass pf water was fine, when the waitress refilled it with the jug it tasted like dirty fish water (I had my husband taste to verify I wasn't crazy before I asked her for another beverage). The honey mustard I ordered with my salad was awful, and I am a lover of all kinds of honey mustard. The sauce with my steak skewers had a bitter unpleasant taste and the plate was mostly filled with mushrooms and burnt onions. The loaded baked potato however was the best part of my whole meal. The famous orange rolls? I was excited to try these because I love orange flavored things. Maybe it was because I had already been disappointed with everything else but when I tried it all it tasted like was dry cinnamon roll dough (just the dough part) with an orange colored (with very little flavor) sauce drizzled over the top. I am usually the one who enjoys my meal and my husband is less than pleased. However this time he really enjoyed his Jack Daniels Steak meal, including his coke and salad with ranch and this is the reason they are getting two stars. I must have just gotten the wrong things. Stopped in after a long drive from Nashville to Andalusia. We saw the billboard from the interstate and had to see these 'famous orange rolls' for ourself. Since we had never been (and there was an option), we opted to get the buffet. A short 10 minute wait was well worth it. The food was amazing. Grilled and fried chicken (of course we tried both), chicken casserole, bbq and all the sides, salads and desserts you can think of - everything was perfect. While in Cullman on business, I was told this is the place to grab dinner. So here I am. The pros: Good steak, not mind blowing but great value for the money. Atmosphere is very welcoming. The pseudo industrial feel is well done. Salad was kinda generic, but was crisp and fresh. Balsamic dressing is made in house. Beer selection is good. Several local options and Stone IPA on draft :) My waitress is very friendly and attentive. The cons: There aren't too many reasons I could tell you why not to come. This is a personal peeve, but a steakhouse of this magnitude should have salt and pepper grinders NOT dollar store shakers. Also when I walked in, the host asked "can I help you?" I'm not dressed like a vagabond and was fairly put off by his "welcome". All in all, if you are passing through or a local this is probably your best option for a decent meal. There's not a lot of local competition as far as I can tell, but would recommend All Steak. Also, there's not a lot of restaurants that serve libations in Cullman (crazy I know), but this place is one of the few. And lastly, the "world famous" orange rolls are tasty but don't quite deserve their title. read more

I've eaten at the All Steak several times. This is the 3rd location I've been to, they may have set up shop in other locations in addition to the 3 I've been to. This is the newest set-up to date. The interior is now more casual v/s white table cloth at their last location. They're known for their orange rolls.... If a steak place is known for a complimentary bakery item there is a problem. Its never been my favorite. I tagged along today as I hadn't been in a while. Meh... embodies the All Steak experience. The hostess was friendly and seated us immediately. They did delivered complimentary rolls and cornbread to the table upon our arrival. The cornbread tasted like cake. I was not a fan. They have a daily meat and 2 sides. I've not enjoyed their version of southern cuisine in the past so I opted for a burger. Its a steak place surely they can come up with a decent burger. Yeah no.... They can't... over cooked cheap from frozen patty on one of those buns you get from the grocery store when all the others are sold out that look like they have semolina on top. The burger comes with 3 toppings of your choosing. All additional toppings are extra. Not premium toppings. Toppings period. So no traditional lettuce tomato onion. I asked for options on toppings and it confused the server so I asked for mushrooms, cheese and pickles. She did bring condiments at my request. Glad those weren't extra. The cheese ended up being a Kraft single v/s the Swiss the server had initially offered. The mushrooms were heated in a very hot pan with no seasoning which resulted in scorched mushrooms with virtually no flavor. The fries were bagged variety and the texture was as though they had flash fried them and forgot to re-fry them and make them crisp. They were not good. The texture was grainy and soggy. Its 10-12 bucks for lunch. The service was slow. Other servers picked up our refills. Our server was MIA. She took our order, brought our food and delivered the checks. There was a nice young male server that refilled our drinks while actually waiting on his tables. My co-worker and I each passed on the orange rolls when were were asked if we wanted them there or to-go. The All Steak has been around along time. I'm not certain why it moves around apparently its changed hands. I've never been a big fan as I've said but I honestly think it used to be considerably better. Its most definitely way over hyped. I really enjoy dining at All Steak whenever I'm in Cullman. Luckily, I pass through there a couple times a year, so I've had the privilege of enjoying this restaurant for several years. I've been going here so long, I remember eating at the old location. All Steak is a fairly classy establishment, and definitely the best you'll get in Cullman. Don't expect a dress code or anything, but it is nicer than the local Cracker Barrel. Like I said, I've been dining here for a while, so the food has been good enough to keep me coming back. The last few times I went, the food wasn't as great as I had remembered, but that's probably a combination of selective memory and having a more discerning palate. The pasta dishes are pretty good, and I think the specials tend to be excellent options. One item that has been consistently great are the orange rolls...they warrant a trip just by themselves. Seriously, they're so good that we order extra to take back to family and friends! Definitely check out the All Steak if you're in the Cullman area, it's a hidden gem of semi-fine dining in north-central Alabama. I love All Steak and we drive from Birmingham quite often to eat there. We drove up for lunch today. We decided to sit in the lounge and our service was great. When my steak came out, I found a hair in my steak. Not like on the plate but literally pulled it out of the steak. I was super nice and they took it back to make me a new one. While I was waiting on my new steak to be cooked, the manager came out to speak to me. She basically acted like I was lying. I explained to her I didn't want anything free even though she didn't offer because I felt like she was accusing me of not being truthful about this hair in my food even though I showed our waitress. She kept saying she had no idea how this could happen because the cook is bald. I will still eat at All Steak because it is one of our favs but they could have at least taken the appetizer off of our ticket or at least acted a little more considerate like I was telling them the truth. read more

We had dinner last night at this awesome restaurant. They have reduced the number of tables and are following all Covid recommendations. The service was great and the food was fabulous. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious. I had the Brussel sprouts and salad, my husband had the the salad and a loaded potato. They have a nice wine list with some great reserve Cabernets. Kelsey presented our wine and decanted it for us. Bailey our server was prompt, polite and very attentive. Had our Christmas luncheon here due to location and my boss' love of their orange rolls! We had a private room which was very nice, with even it's own entrance/exit. The food was served buffet style which is always iffy but everything was excellent - we had salad, fresh fruit arrangement, cornbread dressing with giblet gravy, green beans, mashed potatoes (real), squash casserole, prime rib, Cajun Chicken Alfredo, Baked Parmesan Crusted Chicken, lemon, chocolate, and coconut cream pie (and all condiments, of course). All of the items, except the salad and fruit, of course, was served hot and remained that way the entire time without getting yucky - and everything WAS AWESOME! The desserts were really good, too! I'm not sure about the orange rolls personally as I'm not a big fan of bread when there are such great food items on the buffet line but everyone else who had them thoroughly enjoyed them. I returned a week or so later with my significant other and he was equally impressed with the food, and loved the orange rolls, too! I should have taken photos of the luncheon but didn't. I did, however, take photos on our return visit of my hamburger steak and veggies (REAL mashed potatoes) and his Jack Daniels steak and veggies (the green beans and squash casserole are great, too)! We also started out with the Black-Eyed Pea Dip... really yummy! Both times the staff was amazing - very nice and attentive without overdoing it. We make it a point to eat here anytime we're in town. Nice rustic atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent food. However, this is the type of place to visit for a leisurely meal, not when you're in a hurry, so come when you have time to sit and enjoy the experience. The shrimp and grits are very creamy and decadent. An order of fried green tomatoes brings you a plate full of juicy, fat tomato slices with crisp cornmeal breading, sitting on drizzles of heavily spiced remoulade sauce. On my last visit, I ordered the 5oz. filet mignon, which was very tender and (to my surprise and delight) wrapped in bacon. I've never had a bad meal here. Don't skip the orange rolls. Orange rolls at other places have been dry and not had enough sauce in my experience, but here the ratio of dough to orange sauce is perfect. The only negative feedback is that some of the seating is close to the doorway. If you sit in those areas it can be humid in the summer and drafty and chilly in the winter, so ask to sit further back. read more
