    French Exit Sandwich
    Larry H.

Love this place...it's food and its vibe. Had another great French Exit Sandwich! Just an FYI they do not offer latte's so I get drip coffee. The coffee is delicious though. Staff is friendly and 20% tip is included on all checks.

    cheese curds
    Sarah V.

Grabbed a window bar seat for a happy hour $8 glass of wine and stayed for an afternoon snack of cheese curds. Huge portion of cheese curds - absolutely shareable by multiple people. Huge selection of wine by the glass, bottle or to go - and all the staff are extremely kind and knowledgeable about all the options. I like to try a fun, out of the box wine here and there, and when seeking this was once offered an option that I was told tasted acidically just like "licking a nine volt battery" and it delivered on that promise (and was so good). Always a good neighborhood shop to stop in for a sit down meal/drink or a tasty item to go!

Roasted fingerling potatoes & grilled cheese with peach jam & mixed greens. So good.

I've been to all together now several times. Always delicious. This time I had the grilled cheese sandwich with peach jam & micro greens. It was heavenly. The roasted fingerling potatoes are always so good. The dipping sauces were a garlic aioli & some kind of fancy ketchup. I could lick the bowls. I've also had their bagel with cream cheese. Better than your average bagel for sure. Servers are super cool & friendly. The place has great decor. I feel like I'm at a European cafe. You can also purchase crusty breads, unique cheeses, wines, olives, all kinds of snacks to go.

This place was a COMPLETE surprise to me. I was NOT expecting the ambience, service, and cuisine that we experienced!!! The food gives you the feeling and memories of your mother's cooking growing up. I recommend giving this place a try!!! WOW! Thank you!!!

    Two Eggs Any Style

This was another find when staying in the area. They were accommodating to a group of nine and on a Saturday morning sat us right away. I ordered the Two Eggs Any Style and so did half of the table so it was overall a hit. My scrambled eggs, grits, and house made sausage all were perfect! The Shokupan is a milk bread that comes with it and only adds to the meal. Everyone was talking about this dish all weekend!

I have been wanting to come to this place in Ukrainian village for a very long time. My boyfriend and I went for lunch on Saturday. We split the egg muffin sandwich and the burger. Both were very good, but I would argue that the egg sandwich was better because the sauce it came with was incredible. The burger itself was a little dry. Overall, I think this is a really cute cheese and wine shop with some fun dishes to try. I would come back if I was in the area for a drink or an appetizer. However, it is very small and the surcharge/restaurant fees are kind of a lot so I was not a fan of that

Three Cheese Board & fingerling potatoes with vino: a perfect afternoon snack
    Melissa R.

Came for the cheese board, stayed for the wine selection. A bright, welcoming space with staff that knows their stuff. It's a small but mighty menu and everything seems 100% delicious! We were just in need of a quick snack so opted for the 3 cheese board which alternates daily and includes the option to add charcuterie if desired and the potatoes which were the perfect crisp with 2 in made in house dipping sauce. Grab a bottle to go on your way out!

My friends and I stopped in for a Sunday brunch and had such a great time! While the food is a bit pricey, the quality was there and the service was great. This restaurant gives a very unique vibe and it was perfect for brunch with friends and sharing plates to try all the different delicious bites they offer. Can't wait to go back to try more!

Such amazing service!! They overheard it was my bday and provided a complimentary cake + glasses of bubbly wine for me and my friend while playing Rihanna's iconic Birthday Cake song. It was such a pleasure to spend my bday there, and side note: the food and wine are scrumptious. But the highlight was the staff that evening :)

I think I'm addicted to this place. Not only is it a welcoming and cute atmosphere, but the staff is so knowledgeable about all things cheese and wine. Nicole helped me find the perfect wine/cheese pairing with A LOT of education! They hosted a tasting as well as a cheese board making class that I adored. They also have all the adornments for a cheese board night in.

This is such an adorable neighborhood gem! I cake here for their happy hour wine and cheese boards and was not disappointed. Happy hour pricing was incredibly reasonable as well. Our server was friendly, but not all behind the counter seemed to be friendly. There was a DJ playing when I went which was a great touch. Seems like a great place for friends to gather or for a date night!

Just wow. If you have a guest in town & want to have an excellent bottle of wine with delicious food just come here. The service, the wine, the whole laid back/ neat/ modern vibe, the food, the beer, this restaurant has checked all my boxes. I recently went for brunch with my fiancée and her mother. I ordered the creamed eggs over toast, a salmon lox bagel, sourdough bread , a bottle of wine, and a bottle of Lambic ale. I'd like to start off highlighting the wine - the wine is extraordinary. I can safely say outside of Europe, I've had my favorite bottles of wine here at this establishment. the entire staff is trained to know everything about the wine they sell. And their selection is off the charts: Italy France Spain you name it they have it. Asking for a recommendation is like speaking to a sommelier. Their recommendations are so on point it's crazy. Please go here with friends and please speak to Kyle or Rachel for a recommendation (or anyone from the staff) they are all pro's at wine. Ok now to the food: Creamed eggs over toast - this was served over a bed of pork fat collard greens atop sourdough from aya. Wow. Collards with the cream and a little crunch was a match made in heaven. This dish had heads turning at the restaurant. Must try. Salmon lox bagel sandwich - delicious everything bagel, nova lox, has a slight lemony touch I found nice, cream cheese, the whole shabang. Can't go wrong w this dish. Can't recommend this place enough.

Came here for Happy Hour on A Sunday and sat outside on their patio area (by the road). This place has food and drink service, but it is also a store where you can browse for wine and cheese also!! Service was friendly, however, sometimes it was a bit frustrating trying to flag someone down inside while outside. Happiest hour cheese board + meats: great selection of cheese and accouterments on toasted baguettes. The salted honey was perfect for the plate. They had $6 glasses of wine for happiest hours and were served in the most delightful little glasssware! We had a great time!

As it happened, the cafe I wanted to check out was mobbed with a line down the street, and my boyfriend expressed wanting a full meal. A quick look at the map confirmed we were close to The Dearborn, and they were opening in about 10 minutes. Perfect. We detoured to view the Chicago Picasso and waited until open to walk in. Upon arrival, there were already several parties waiting to be seated, which is a clear indicator of the restaurant's popularity. We were seated not long after along the row of seated half booths in the room behind the bar. Our server, Melissa, was soooo friendly and lovely. She gave us some suggestions on other spots to visit too. We were both planning on starting with the horchata carajillo cocktail, but Melissa sold me with their brunch punch of the day - pineapple gin, yuzu, raspberry syrup, lemon, and soda water. Both cocktails were incredible, and my boyfriend and I were both buzzing before 11 am haha. *We did also order coffees - their cappuccino was delightful. In terms of food, we decided to start with the croissant monkey bread. As you can see, I took a bite before we even put the sauce on top - it was that irresistible. For potentially the first time ever, my boyfriend and I equally shared a dish. Typically, he eats faster and more than me, but I made sure to keep up - it was way too good to miss out. For my meal, I ordered the four cheese tavern-style pizza (fontina, gruyere, gouda, mozzarella, chives, garlic butter), and my boyfriend selected the fried perch benedict. I tried a bite of his, and it was lovely, but I was more focused on my pizza. To be clear, the pizza is 14 inches and easily could have been shared by both of us. In fact, he did indeed eat all of the leftovers later that night. This was hands down our favorite dining experience during our long weekend in Chicago, and I need to revisit on a future trip to try their famous fish & chips.

Even my boyfriend who loves burgers agreed that the chicken sandwich was one of the best and maybe even better than the burger. Definitely get the mac & cheese, chicken sandwich, and french onion soup. The french onion soup was super cheesy and the mac & cheese was so creamy and perfect. The patio did come with a couple of uninvited guests - mosquitoes, and at one point a spider stopped by my plate. Thankfully, these visitors did not dampen our overall experience. We started with cocktails and tried the Avant Gardener - gin with sorrel, bay leaf and lemon - and the wonderfully named You Go Glen Coco, made with rum, ube, coconut, lemongrass, cacao nibs, honeysuckle and ginger. Two very different and creative cocktails that fit nicely with the experience. We tried quite a bit of the menu. The dry-aged duck was my favorite. The beef tartare was incredibly tasty, and the scallops and Boka's signature roasted chicken were right up there as well. Presentation was clearly part of the experience - every dish arrived looking as carefully thought out as it tasted. We finished with dessert, and the Sweet Corn Custard was the winner for me. Service throughout the evening was good and attentive, and we walked away with a highly satisfied experience. I started with the scallops, which were perfectly fine but fairly average. For my main, I had the duck. It was well prepared and certainly the stronger of the two dishes, but still nothing particularly memorable or exciting. There was nothing objectively bad about the meal, and the presentation and overall execution were polished. The issue was simply that at this level, I expect food that makes me stop for a moment and think, wow. That never happened here. Perhaps I caught Boka on an off night, but based on this experience I was genuinely surprised by the Michelin star. Chicago has so many exceptional restaurants that I personally wouldn't recommend Boka over the many other options available. Service was attentive and friendly. Lots of anniversaries and birthdays in the crowd of people out having a celebration dinner. Good, but not special enough to make me want to return.
