We trust Allegretti Rug Masters to clean our numerous Oriental rugs. They use eco-friendly products and are very careful to make sure that the rug is not damaged in the cleaning process. Mark Allegretti personally guarantees the quality of their work. The one time we did have some slight dye run in a rug, he took it back and cleaned it two more times to make sure it was just right. His staff is also very professional and courteous. AND they will pick up and deliver even outside of Evanston (we live in Andersonville). As for their showroom - WOW! Mark takes the time to get to know your personal preferences and can pull out rugs that you will fall in love with. He's patient and does not pressure you to buy anything, knowing that a quality rug is an investment. Last time we were in, I could not make up my mind between two rugs and flippantly asked for a "buy one, get one free deal." They carried it in and brought it out to my car for me, which one would expect, but I am surprised when I have to ask, and often do! We've used Allegretti twice in the past 7 months to have rugs cleaned, and, have been very happy with the work. We have 2 Persian rugs that I inherited from my parents, and hold a great deal of sentimental value in addition to being beautiful. We realized one of them had been used as a pee pad by our older dog (sweet girl, RIP), and needed to be cleaned and we hoped the smell would come out. I would highly recommend Allegretti. I had four oriental rugs (two handwoven, two machine made) that needed deep cleaning. One also had a pet stain/urine issue from a sick pet. They were prompt in picking up and delivering the rugs after cleaning them thoroughly in one week as promised. Sue was very helpful in coordinating delivery times and in answering questions about the cleaning treatment. The delivery men were very professional and courteous. The rugs came out looking almost new - fresh smell, clean but not overpowering scent. One of the rugs has some damage on the fringe, and they recommended additional work to restitch (but did not push me on that; they simply offered it as an option for a future date). We went to Allegetti to see if our rug (warped) could be fixed. The knowledge and expertise that they have is amazing. They knew everything about the rug and pointed out correctly that it was made with the major imperfection and recommended that we return it to the company. Additionally, the owner took us on an educational tour of his rugs and explained all the fine points of the rugs, amazing knowledge. Mary Allegretti did a great job of showing us a number of different rugs for our consideration. She explained what type of rug it was, where it was made, and a little history about its origin. My mother called this company and told the person on the phone (Susan??) that her cat goes to bathroom on the carpeting at times. Susan was concerned it was urine and that it would seep through the carpet. My mother assured it was not. Upon arrival to her house, the service tech told her they were not picking up feces. My mother told her that she was going to roll up the plastic and they just had to clean the stains in the carpet. This is something that had previously been done by a rug doctor successfully so it was clear that it could be done. She just wanted a more professional and thorough cleaning. The service tech complained to Susan that my mother has a very very sick cat and that feces were all over the house, both of which are not true. There were areas- including the dining room, the stairs and upper landing - that were clear of stains but that my mother wanted clean anyway. What makes this poor service is that they didin't even attempt to clean anything and my mother put in a lot of work trying to get the house ready for them. read more

I have had this company out for many different replacement and new carpet installations. Each and every time, they were curtious and prompt, did what they said they would do, came at the time they were scheduled to come and the quality of the carpet is wonderful. I would (and have)highly reccomend Allegretti's to anybody who wants a professional job done at a reasonable cost. And perhaps most important of all-cleaned up when they were finished. This is a follow up to an earlier posting on 5/4/13 regarding service I experienced through Allegretti and how they resolved this customer complaint. After a 3 week delay on getting my rug cleaned and returned, the company rapidly responded to rectify the situation. My rug was cleaned and returned within the week after my call to address the postponement. The delivery crew were very polite and apologetic for the delay and my rug is restored to its former glory. I can confirm former posts regarding their attention to meet customer expectations and quickly resolve complaints. While the initial service time was extended, the care for the customer became evident in the way the problem was resolved. They are worth revisiting for future business. read more

3 reasons to take your business elsewhere: 1) They don't tell you that they couldn't get a stain out when you specifically asked for it to be worked on. You only find out the stain remains, when you ask to have them unroll it and show it to you. They offered no solutions. 2) The carpet looks worse now than it did when I brought it in because now the nap of the rug is all messed up and the fibers don't lay down smoothly. 3)You have to pay up front in full, so you don't even have that recourse when you are dis-satisfied. read more

I called Allegretti based on the positive reviews on yelp. Now, I had a messy situation on my hands and needed some heavy duty help - a visiting pet left me an unwanted "present" on the rug. Now, the individuals who came to my home were really professional and prompt - the service itself was done fine. However, I was disappointed that I was not told up front of the additional fees (40% of my total for that matter) for the stains even though I pushed back on the final cost. I only realized that I was being charged extra when I got the itemized receipt. Would have been nice to know up front, especially because the place still smells a bit (though I certainly don't blame them for that!) Overall they did an A-OK job. read more

I had my dining room rug cleaned last year by a different company for twice as much, and it came back just as stained as when I gave it to them. This year I tried Allegretti and they did a great job! The stains are very faint and there is no smell. Service was great too. read more

I had a bad experience with Allegretti. One of the servicemen who showed up was rifling through my stuff. They used this heavy duty, huge machine to clean my carpeting and when they left, my carpet no longer laid flat but was as wavy as Lake Michigan! They didn't even open the closet doors so the soap wash pushed under the closet door and dried there in a hard mess. The carpet was so stretched, there were ripples all over the place. After I complained and complained, they finally sent a carpet stretcher over who did some minor repairs but some of the problems never went away. They also failed to disclose that they charged a minimum fee for each area. So while I had them do a small hallway, they charged a fee to clean the whole room! I would never use this company again. read more

I wish we had the good experience of others. Our 8x10 Tibet rug came back smelling worse than when we sent it - even after I told them we had a dog that messed it. They re-cleaned it for free - but it came back a little faded. Their communication was not good at all. They missed promised finish dates and didn't call when promised. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I had a couch that needed to be cleaned, some dog stains that i could have done with a steam cleaner, but as I am busy I decided to pay to have it done. I took the day off work, they showed up an hour after their scheduled time, and then barely glanced at the couch and said nope I can't do it. He said he couldn't get all the stains out, and he wouldn't clean it. I asked him to explain this to me, as I have cleaned it many times with a steam cleaner and have had no problems. He said it wasn't worth it to him to try since he knew I wouldn't be happy. How can a professional cleaning company not get the stains out that I can with a steam cleaner? I asked this of them and they were just like I'm not going to even try. He then proceeded to grab his things and slam the door on his way out. Now I've wasted a day off, and have to search for someone else to do it. Poor attitude, and clearly not worth the money. I was going to pay almost $200 for this to be cleaned for someone to just walk in and say no without an explanation. Very disappointed and have nothing good to say about them. read more

I had Allegretti clean two wool area rugs last month. Prior to having them picked up, I explained that they had canvas backing and was concerned about it coming apart on the back if glue was used to adhere it to the rug. Their representative assured me they would contact me if it was going to be a problem cleaning them. After they were returned to me, sure enough, the binding on the back--about an inch thick trim around the border, was peeling off. I called the next day, and while the same woman I spoke with told me she hadn't actually looked at my rugs, she assured me the binding was peeling because of the age of my rugs and not the fact that they had been washed. She then told me I could glue the backing on myself. Not only were my rugs not old, but I specifically discussed this issue beforehand and made sure that the backing was completely intact before they were picked up. They did not meet my expectations, and for the amount of money I spent, I would have either gone with a much cheaper competitor, or steamed them myself. read more
