Cute restaurant that's about it. Service was bad with an empty restaurant. Asked for water 3 times before we got it which was after we received our food. We only came for calamari. Don't waste your time or taste buds. Soggy, old, smelt bad a not as described on the menu. Genuinely the most disgusting calamari I have ever had. Response to owner: Server removed it after he went to drop the check and realized we had not touched it. Maybe if he had checked on us while dining he would have known our distaste and not put it in the original bill. The menu actually calls them calamari curls not fingers. Not sure what menu you pulled that name from but the one online and in restaurant says curls. Curls are similar to rings, which we were expecting. And previous photo reviews do not match what we received. I shared this review to let people know NOT TO TRY THE CALAMARI. I think that is obvious.

We arrived a little early and were prepared to wait, but the host kindly seated us and allowed us to order before their official opening time, which was greatly appreciated. We tried the chèvre & pesto pizza, chicken Alfredo pasta, and Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, with wonderfully complex flavors. The pasta was rich, cheesy, and creamy, while the pizza was thin and perfectly done--just the way I like it. Both the food quality and customer service deserve five stars.

I've been coming to Allegro Pizzeria since I first moved to Carmel back in 2011, and to this day, it remains one of my favorite--if not my absolute favorite--pizza spots in town. If you're looking for that perfect, no-nonsense, New York-style pizza with the right balance of crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and perfectly melted cheese, this is the place to go. Allegro has always had that welcoming, casual vibe that makes you want to come back. The staff is friendly, the service is solid, and the pizza? Consistently amazing. The crust has that ideal crunch with just the right amount of chew, the sauce is tangy and well-seasoned, and the cheese is always perfectly melted with just the right amount of grease--not too much, not too little. Whether you're grabbing a classic cheese slice, a pepperoni, or one of their specialty pies, you can't go wrong. Over the years, I've tried plenty of pizza places in Carmel and Monterey, but nothing comes close to Allegro when it comes to that authentic, New York-style experience. If you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by. This is hands down some of the best pizza you'll find in Carmel for the price.

We absolutely loved our rehearsal dinner meal at Allegro Pizzeria working with the manager, Gino, is so smooth. He responds almost immediately every single time, and was able to provide us get great prices on supplies like napkins, and paper plates. His staff brought up pizza on the clock and I'm already craving the taste once again! He has a great partnership with The Community Shared Space, which is an event center located right above the restaurant at the barnyard in Carmel, California. I highly recommend taking a look at this duo for your next event!

This spot is OK but nothing to write home about. Typical pricey Carmel prices. At least the portions are decent. Everything is tasty if you're not picky. Lasagna is super cheesy. Pizza is super stuffed. The free bread they give you is super tasty but the texture seems a bit stale. But something about the taste and texture of everything is justtt a bit off from fresh. The lasagna was so cheesy but almost tasted like freezer burnt taste? And the pizza was just slightly too hard and seemed like it had been reheated a few times. The ranch was not good either. It's fine in a pinch but for the price, won't be coming back most likely. Lowered a star for that unprofessional response. Didn't know we're not allowed to have opinions on here and I thought it's Karens that ask for managers not if you don't ...weird thing to say

Food, service, and ambiance, all great. Pizza was delicious. Cheesy, saucy, and pepperoni-y, just how I like it. Great deal too. $12 and some change for a huge slice. Attentive, kind service. Place is well-kept and pretty. The Italian music sets a great mood. Thumbs up.

It is what it is. I knew I had a Saturday lunch planned here and messaged the business earlier in the week to ask about vegan cheese and vegan options. No response. We were sat and service was good. I used my Yelp Check In for a free pint of beer and both of my choices were not available. While it's true that Allegro offers Follow Your Heart vegan cheese, the server says that their crust is not vegan. Disclaimer - I've eaten a lot of non-vegan pizzas and a lot of vegan pizzas. Classic pizza dough is made with just flour, water, salt, and yeast. Some versions add olive oil. This creates a chewy texture, but needs a long slow rise to develop flavor but Allegro adds milk. I appreciate the server being straightforward with me so I ordered the Bruchetta Pomodore This is from Allegro's website BRUCHETTA POMODORO 11.95 tomato, olives, garlic, basil There's no mention of cheese When the Bruchetta plates arrived they all had cheese on top. The server gave us the additional Bruchetta and had another one made for me with no cheese. The other plates were presented nicely as to their favor profile, I can't comment but the other diners seem to have had a delicious experience. To the team at Allegro's. I appreciate trying to accommodate plant based and vegan customers but either do it right and transparently or don't do it at all. Being a graduate of CHS, working in the restaurant business in Carmel, and now being a vegan for the past 6 years, I wholeheartedly am willing to help you and your team craft some truly vegan options for vegan diners. With your location, the ambiance, and dedication to traditional recipes, it's a no-brainer.

I ordered delivery to my hotel last week, Wednesday I believe, using Door Dash. It was good, but not quite as great as I remembered from a couple years ago. From my previous experience, I remember the pizza being pretty special. On this occasion, not so much.

We were having a very late lunch and since this place opened at 4:00 we decided to get there 15 minutes early to score a table. Luckily, they said they could seat us in the patio (as we wanted) but not until 4:15. Fine, we can wait an additional 15 minutes. They did seat us at 4:15 promptly, but honestly could have done so at 4:00 as there were plenty of tables open. In any case, onto the food! This is where this place shines. We split a margherita pizza, which we all agreed was really good; great crust, plenty of cheese and a nice sauce. Most of us ordered the rigatoni with vodka, which was a big hit. One little slip-up was that two of the guests asked to omit the pancetta, but both dishes ended up served with it. Not a problem, both said they could just eat around it. I ordered the cannelloni tricolore which was fantastic. Loved all the sauces and the filling was generous with well-seasoned chicken and veggies. Here's where the service gets props and ensures we would return: our waiter brought us out a dessert to share for the pancetta mix-up. It was such a nice touch and something we all enjoyed. It's those little things that show customers a business cares. Highly recommend this place.

The peaches were ripe without being overly sweet, the salty cheese offset the fruit perfectly, and the pine nuts added a great bit of texture. The biggest surprise was the gnocchi. I normally avoid gnocchi because I find it too heavy, but our waitress convinced me to try it and I'm so glad she did. It wasn't made with potatoes, so it was much lighter than expected, and the creamy, cheesy sauce was perfect for dipping the bread into. We also shared a half Margherita and half Salumi pizza. The crust was thin and European-style, with fresh ingredients and plenty of cheese. The Margherita was light and flavorful, while the Salumi had great depth from the salami, red onion, and house-made chili oil. We were told the peppers are roasted in the pizza oven, which gave the oil an amazing smoky flavor. Our waitress was incredible. Even in a full restaurant, she made my family feel special. She seemed genuinely excited about the food, the restaurant, and her job, and that enthusiasm made the experience even better. The atmosphere was also so charming. The room we sat in had little building facades that created an almost optical illusion, making it feel like we were dining on a street in France. It's easy to see why La Bicyclette is included in the Michelin Guide. I'll absolutely be coming back anytime I'm in Carmel.

Founded in Monterey in 2014, Alvarado Street Brewery expanded its production and its restaurants to meet demand. This location in the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center opened in 2018, and they do produce beer here, though their main production and canning happens at their original Monterey and expanded Salinas plants. They also have a new beer garden at the new soccer stadium in Marina. We waited around at the mall until it opened at 11:30. Service was excellent all-around, with us being seated right away, and our server, Ian, providing some top-notch recommendations for both food and beer. I asked him about their flights, which were the standard 5 oz pours, and individually priced. But he mentioned that if I ordered their promotional deal (in this case, their Korean-style loco moco), it would come with a flight of their 4 core beers. He had me sold as soon as he said 'loco moco'. Everything came out on-time, and served at the right temperature as appropriate. 4 beer flight (included with loco moco plate) - flagship Monterey Beer (American Light Lager, brewed at their Salinas plant); Pilsner (German-style Pilsner, also brewed at their Salinas plant); Mai Tai (American IPA, Salinas); Howzit Punch (fruited sour, modeled after Hawaiian POG). All of the beers were really good. with the Howzit being the most liked, not only on principle (we really love Hawaii) but also on taste. Korean-Style Loco Moco ($25) - when told that the white rice on a traditional loco moco was being replaced by kimchi fried rice, my original reaction was 'Dang...why didn't I think of that'. It was a beautiful looking dish, for sure. In terms of taste, just OK. The rice wasn't great, and the hamburger patty was OK (a bit dry). But the over-easy egg added a nice level of richness and the gravy fit the dish. The strips of gim (seaweed sheets) was a great touch and appreciated. Roasted Drunken Half Chicken ($33) - another great looking dish: a cut up half chicken with a ton of crisping done on the skin. It came with two dipping sauces (a bbq and a butter based), along with pickled vegetables on the side, and a jalapeno biscuit. My wife loved the biscuit and didn't need the extra butter. The chicken looked dry though, and she confirmed it. The dark meat was OK, but the white meat was very dry, confirming that one needs to use the bbq sauce and the pickled vegetables to counteract that. Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($20) - my mother-in-law loved this, and she proved it by eating it all (though it could have something to do with all the walking we did in the morning). I enjoyed the fresh cole slaw (tart with a nice mix of vegetables). And all of us really enjoyed the fries...again proving that food service frozen fries can be marvelous if deep fried (and served) properly. My wife and I both agreed that the Mai Tai PA and Howzit Punch were really good and worth bringing back home so got a 4-pack of each ($16 each). Haven't had a chance to try it at home yet, but will do so when wanting to remember our trip.

The first thing they brought out was bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and, no joke, that ended up being my favorite bite of the meal. I was still thinking about the bread while eating everything else, which probably says more than I intended. The clam chowder was good and comforting, but if you've had chowder in Monterey, you know the bar is pretty high. The calamari was the bigger disappointment. It was chewy instead of tender and didn't have that light, crispy crunch that makes calamari worth ordering in the first place. By the time we finished the chowder and calamari we were full, but we still looked through the menu to see if anything tempted us. Honestly, nothing really stood out. The pasta prices felt steep, and there wasn't a dish that made us say, "Okay, we have to come back and try that." The only thing that really took away from the experience was how close the tables were. I could hear the people next to us whispering and accidentally became invested in a conversation I was never invited to. Overall, it's a cute place with great service and a nice ambiance that's worth checking out if you're visiting Carmel. I don't regret going, but I also don't see myself going back. On the bright side, at least the bread gave me something to remember. Someone in that kitchen deserves a raise for that basket alone.

The waiters were very nice and attentive throughout. We got the wings, burger and grilled chicken sandwich. The food was great, and came out quickly. Now the beer, husband got Guinness and I got Skrimshaw, both were perfectly poured and the pilsner was crisp. We ended up spending more time there, just enjoying the vibes and the food/drinks. Would definitely recommend as a stop in Carmel, specially since most places feel too uptight and here it was just relaxed.

We specifically chose this place because it advertised itself as dog-friendly. When we arrived, the game had already started, and the bar was nearly empty. Since it was open seating, we chose the best available table to watch the match. It was a table for six, and the waitress asked us to move to a smaller table in case a larger group arrived. That seemed reasonable, so we moved without any issue. Another server took our order, and everything was fine throughout the first half of the game. A little later, two other customers came in and sat at the same six-person table we had originally chosen. They were also asked to move for the same reason. Instead of moving, they simply left. At this point, the bar was still almost empty on a Wednesday morning. At halftime, we noticed a completely empty patio with a two-person table that offered an even better view of the game, so we moved there. Unfortunately, our service was then taken over by the original waitress. When she approached our table with the wrong order, she came up abruptly and startled our elderly dog, who barked. Rather than apologizing or correcting the order, she immediately told us that if other guests arrived, we would have to leave. Looking around at the nearly empty restaurant, I replied that it didn't seem like anyone else was coming. Instead of bringing us the correct order, she brought us the bill. The experience left us feeling like hypothetical future customers were valued more than the guests who were actually there enjoying a meal and drinks. It was a disappointing experience, especially at a business that advertises itself as dog-friendly and an official World Cup viewing venue.
