Twice I have been charged for work not done. First time I caught them and they made it good (it was only $50). The second time I paid then $800 to replace upper ball joints on the front end. Several months later I had to have tires replaced and that shop removed worn ball joints. Turns out these were OEM parts...meaning they had never been replaced. I presented this to the owner of Allen Car Care. He said je would look into it. I haven't heard back. Buyer beware!! only place I could find to reply to the libelous claim about switching license plates. This will result in a lawsuit if not retracted. Especially after they asked me how much the dealership was going to charge. Felt like an opening to gain my business but they fell short. Not the "new Bob." I walked in and asked for Bob. New owner says "I'm Bob, I'm the new Bob." He's far from it from a professional standpoint and quality of work. I took my car in because it was making a clanging noise. He and a tech heard it. Made an appointment for it to be fixed, brought it in, got the phone call the next day that it was fixed. I pick up the car and the new owner says they couldn't hear the noise. I get in the car and as soon as I pull out of the parking lot I hear the clanging noise. I called the new owner and he said to bring it back and go for a ride with his tech. I asked why that wasn't done in the first place and pointed out that on my first visit the new owner himself and a tech had heard the noise. So, he told me he was done with me, to come back and get my money refunded, and then hung up on me. Listen, pal, you are not the new Bob. If that is how you handle customer complaints my advice is that you don't get too comfortable. Customers were loyal because Bob always went the extra mile to make sure the repair was done right the first time. Your temper is only going to lose you business. I used to have this shop change my oil until they overfilled both my cars by almost two quarts. The first car I picked up from them had a major oil seal blow less than 1/2 a mile from their shop. I checked the second car's oil before I drove it and discovered almost 7 quarts in my 4 cylinder Jetta TDI. I gave them back the first car to look at but refused to let them repair after their carelessness. The offer to me for my $1100 repair--- approx $200. Went to small claims court with pictures and a good write up from Volkswagen service tech that I know ell and trust and examples from owners manual that states overfilling will cause sever engine damage. Allen Car Care argued that the seal just magically failed 1/2 mile after their screw up. What did the judge say? I lose because he doesnt have the seal to look at. Like he is a car expert! OH my goodness. It smelled just like my grandad's shop! I love the smell (hint - it's motor oil and other such engine smells). They were very nice. Took a look at my car and explained the problems and how to repair them and, should I decide to to them not all at once, even explained what was the most important to fix. This was my dad's truck I was having repaired. Now that he's in a nursing home, the truck sits at my house. I wasn't surprised to learn that he hadn't been doing the routine maintenance on it other than oil changes so it needed some work. The oil, filter, brake and transmission fluids were changed. The water pump was replaced too. It sounds like a different vehicle now. It still rides like a truck, because it is a pickup tree. IT rides so low to the ground I worry about getting butt burn but that's a different story and really doesn't pertain to this review. They did take me home once I decided to get all the work done at once so I could use it to drive to the train station during the week instead of using my car. My friends who normally would have come to get me were out of the country, on vacation somewhere else or just too busy to come get me. They sure were nice and as I said, the truck works great now. read more

It's a small shop, but everyone there is great. Bob, the owner, is a straight shooter and his mechanics know what they are doing. I had an 11 year old car, that I've completely beat up by going back and forth across the US and a long daily commute of ~120 miles a day. in the last couple of years, I've run up 100k miles on it. It was limping along...just too many issues to fix. Bob recommended that it was time to trade-in, since to get my car in total ship shape condition, it was going to cost more than the car was worth. Where do i begin? I know i wont take my car anywhere else for repairs after yesterday. I had taken my car to Nissan of McKinney to have it looked at and they came back with a bill of over $2000 telling me i needed a new exhaust pipe and a new fuel pump. i wanted a second opinion so i took it to Allen Car Care after receiving recommendations from my family. Bob had it looked at and they came back and told me it needed a lot less work than what Nissan McKinney indicated. He said the fuel pump was working properly and the exhaust pipe needed to have a small hole welded shut. Unfortunately city ordinance keeps Allen Car Care from doing any weldling so they did refer me to Pronto Muffler in Plano who did the repair for $40. Bob did not charge me to look at the car yet Nissan charged me $145 to diagnose the problem. If your car needs repairs or if you need a second opinion please give Allen Car Care a chance. They told me I needed to replace both back tires and it would cost $280 for my nissan versa (which have plenty of tred on them, the car is only a few months old). I'm a fan... but that comes with a big "BUT." I would recommend this shop for repairs that are simple in nature and don't require a lot of troubleshooting to determine what needs fixing. The owner, Bob, uses only OEM parts for all repairs and can get them at a cheaper price than going straight to a dealer. If you need a brake job done, or shocks replaced I highly recommend them. If your check enginer light is on... take it somewhere else. The owner is honest and will always do whatever he can to make sure you are happy. I took my 2006 nissan murano in to get the motor mount replaced, he gave me a quote on the phone and I told him to go ahead with the job. I used to be their biggest fan. Not anymore....RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I have gone there for years. I have referred many people there. The first time I felt a little suspicious of them was when they told me my e-break had gotten stuck and broken...also ruining my rotors. I took it to another shop and they couldn't find anything wrong. To this day....it is fine. My husband said maybe he got us confused with another customer....we let it slide. Fast forward to April. We have them do our 100K service. Tell him to do whatever it says is recommended. So timing belt, flushes....told him to do it all. Now, 8 months later.....one of my friends is driving the car down the highway. Loud crashing sound and the car stops. The tow truck guy says the timing belt broke in his opinion. I call Bob and ask him if that was something covered by the 12 month warranty provided on the belt and service performed. He immediately says...we didn't replace the water pump. Ummm.... ok. So I ask if he sees the service and he said yes we had it done in April. The belt was changed but not the water pump. He said it wasn't recommended. Every google search I have done says that is recommended for the water pump and belt to be done at the same time. That is not the issue however. He tells us it's the idler pulley, it locked up causing the belt to melt and break. He will have to do a $1200 repair before he can tell me if there is damage to the motor. I trust him....we have done business for years. I say ok. Then he tells us after that there is about $3000 more in damage he can't fix. That will be $1200. My husband calls a buddy of his trying to unload the car. He has a car lot and we were thinking a mechanic may want to buy the car as a project car. He tells us Bob should have known that there was guaranteed damage from her driving 70 miles per hour when it broke. Then tells me that $1200 seems really high.....we email him a receipt. While I wait to hear back I get in touch with Mitsubishi....a certified Mitsubishi mechanic tells me that not only did he over charge but it was by about $600....he charges double what the dealership does. Then I notice our receipt.....a timing belt component kit.....then we were also charged for each component individually. Nice. The next day I get an email from my friends buddy, same estimate....$600. Both agree he should have never done the work anyway because there was 100% chance the engine was damaged. They both recommended replacing the motor. Both are suspicious that this should have been a warranty issue. I am told to ask for the parts he bought and receipts for them. Legally he has to provide these. He brings some of the parts (NO WATER PUMP IN TH BOX) He tells us he will not provide the part receipts because he doesn't have to let us see the wholesale pricing he gets. The receipt for the 100 K service? He has a hard time finding (Strangely on day one he pulled it up in seconds while we are on the phone) OH wait he found it....gives it to my husband. Looking over it I notice it is an estimate....not an invoice and it was typed up TODAY. I call him he stutters a bit and said its a list of what they did. I tell him I need the actual recept. The one I signed. He can't find it. I send my husband up there to get him to look on the computer in front of him. Him and his friend walk in and their are shredding noises coming from Bob's office. That's reassuring. So, then to top it off they broke the handle on the driver side. Apparently there was a crack in it.....Funny. I never saw one before. So now I have a ruined motor and a broken driver side handle so you can't even get into the car. Thanks Bob.....your receipt says Honesty, Accuracy, and Quality.....Lies. I feel even worse as I don't even know how many of my friends and family he has ripped off. I referred him to everyone :-( read more
