Beware!!! This jeweler/owner (Abraham) will promise you the world! Well I promise you it's total BS! First red flag was he requires pymt in full before work is done that shocked me. Abraham and I exchanged text the whole duration of him having my diamond and he making the ring. He yes'd me the whole time on my specifications. When I picked up my ring I noticed things that weren't what we discussed he told me I wouldn't have liked it that way. After a month of having my ring things bothered me on quality and design. Then after asking for some things to be improved he called my husband difficult. I'd like to make clear that the things Abraham agreed to fix turned out worse than before! We decided to never let him touch my ring again and went to another jeweler to evaluate my ring and get fixed correctly. The business is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. He's a retired Dallas police office, all the more reason to support this business! Back the Blue even when their retired! I stop by here to buy one of favorite candles they sell (Morenci). I also like to see what jewels they have up for sale. I had to bring my watch in since the battery finally died. I took a pair of earrings in for repair and appraisal. Additionally, I wear my grandmother's ring, that she wore daily, daily. I wanted to have it cleaned up and appraised as well. Sally was so friendly and helpful. She explained to me required maintenance on jewelry that is worn daily, and I ended up having the diamonds retipped. Everything was ready to be picked up yesterday, and I was so pleased when I got to the shop. The posts they put on my earrings are much sturdier and the screw backs much more secure than what was on them originally. The ring looks beautiful. If I could give this place negative stars I would. My fiancé bought my engagement ring here from the previous owner. I love my ring so much and am over the moon to have it. About 3 months ago, the diamond fell out my ring because the prongs broke off holding the diamond in place and we had to get a new one put in it. We go to take the ring in for a new diamond and find out the store had been bought by the current owners. They said they would have to charge us for the new diamond and to fix it and charged us 250 saying they were giving us a "discount" and gave us a timeline of when it be ready. We accepted the price because we just ultimately wanted the ring fixed. 4 days past the date the ring was promised to be ready, I call to get a status update just to see what the status was. The man on the phone indicated to me that "the jeweler had not been in yet and he get to it when he got there". He was very defensive and rude to me over the phone when I was not aggressive or rude toward him simply for asking when it would be ready. It was ready a couple days after that encounter and we were excited to be done with the store. About a 2 months later, my ring band snapped in half. We saw on our receipts that there was a 3 month warranty so reluctantly we took it back in. My fiancé said the guy did not look happy to see him. They had it done within two days, but you could tell no time or effort went into it as the seal was uneven, there were what appear to be wedding marks on, and you can still clearly see that the ring had broke. Now Less that a month later the ring is coming apart (picture below). We will not be going back and advise anyone else to do the same. They are rude just in general and I understand they are the new shop owners, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't respect any customer that is dealing with them. Instead of trying to fix the ring, they continued to try and sell us the exact same ring for triple the price (which I sure is why they didn't put my ring back together correctly the first time because they want more money. I do not leave a lot of reviews on yelp, I can pretty much guarantee there is at least 1000 shops/restaurants I have eaten at that I need to however and one day I will get around too. I recently (past 3 months) visited this place on a whim when I needed to get some links on my watch removed and adjusted. Truthfully I was stopping in to grab dinner for the kids at wingstop and saw this a few doors down and figured why not stop in and support the local guy. The shop is nice, some antique watches and jewelry along with a good selection of newer items as well. The gentleman that greeted me was very nice and I waited about 10 min while he finished up working with another customer. After that he came over to me, I explained to him what I needed to get done and he wrote up a "ticket", just like the old school jewelers used too, and took my watched sized it and said to give him a few minutes. Honestly I was expecting to come back the next day and get it done as it was already past closing time but he came back and had adjusted it. I tried the watch on it still felt a tad be loose so he removed one more link for me and it fit perfect, I would have to look back at what he charged but it was WAY more than reasonable and I always like to support the local guys. I know there is only one review on here, and honestly I cant say for sure that "user" did not have that experience but I can only give mine and I assure you if you would like to validate mine go in and ask the gentleman for a copy of my ticket for a Kenneth cole watch with a black face Im sure he has a copy or message me directly. read more

Okay, first off I don't know who in the world this one star reviewer is on the watch battery replacement, but it's a ridiculous review and I doubt if it's even legitimate. I live in Allen, and a couple of months ago took my nice, Raymond Weil watch in for a battery replacement. Allen Jewelers did an outstanding job of fixing my watch, making it work properly and I was very pleased with their service! So, I started talking to Pete, the owner & Master Jeweler, about having a diamond and 14K yellow gold wedding ring made that I've wanted for a long time. I looked through their ring books, at the store, and found a ring that I loved. However, since the stones I already had were different than the ring found in the book, Pete said that he would like to custom make the ring. It was about a 4 week process, from beginning to end (very quick), and today I went and saw my new, custom-made ring for the very first time. Words cannot express or do justice to the absolute beauty of this ring! I was so overwhelmed that I started crying. It is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ring that I have ever owned!!!!!! I wish I could post a picture of it here for everyone to see. The quality, craftsmanship, style, attention to detail -- everything -- is more than I could have ever imagined! It is unbelievably beautiful, elegant and a one-of-a-kind ring!!!! I've only had the ring for about three hours and have already gotten compliments on it from complete strangers. I just had the most bizarre experience with these people. My husband was trying to surprise me by getting a piece of somewhat expensive costume jewelry fixed for me. I used to wear it all the time; it was a harped-shaped necklace with a floral and bird motif, crystals, and freshwater pearls. I had bought it at a museum in France, and I wore it all the time. The point of me giving this much detail is that it has sentimental value to me and would be hard to replace. Losing track of it or it being totally destroyed would be a sad circumstance for me. Unfortunately, it broke--the chain snapped off. My husband took it to Allen Jewelers to get it fixed. He was told by the jeweler that he wasn't sure if he could fix it, but he would try. My birthday rolls around two weeks later, and my husband remembers that he left it there but had not gotten a call from them. He calls and leaves a message but doesn't get a response. He finally goes up to the store to check on it, and they say they've been on vacation for a week and have been shut down, but that it'll be ready soon. Fair enough. My husband calls to check on it periodically and gets no response. He calls today--twice--and I decide I'm going to go up there and see what's up. At this point they're being so evasive about it that I think that they A) lost it or have given it to someone else by mistake or B) accidentally destroyed it. I don't know if I'm going to have to try to talk a museum into mailing me another necklace or if someone else has it or what. I decide that I'm just going to ask for it back, because I want to see that it's still there, and if it is, I just want to take it home and try somewhere else. I get up there and I just say that I want my necklace back. The guy tells me that he's tried a couple things and they haven't worked and that he's ordered some liquid metal to try to fix it. I said, "Okay, but why did you not tell me that over the phone?" They start giving me snark, telling me that he had recently had back surgery and had been out for a few weeks (and also went on vacation during this time? Which one of those statements was true?) And I just said, "Okay, why couldn't you have told me THAT on the phone as well? Some communication would have fixed this." They tried to tell me they were very busy, but both times when my husband and I came in there, there was only one other person there. They were not interested in pleasing me, admitting they had dropped the ball, or fixing my necklace, threatening me with "There's no one else who can or will try to fix this." They were rude even though I had been civil though admittedly didn't feel like being so. It was almost as if they wanted me to be rude to them. So, I took the necklace and left. I don't know where I'm going to get it fixed or if it is even fixable, but I'm certainly not going back there and I would caution others away. The new owners here keep the store nice. However I wish their repair work was as nice as the store itself. I brought my engagement ring and wedding band in just to be resized and I got a lot more than I expected. They messed the whole thing up and ruined the side of my engagement ring. They tried brushing me off when I brought up the mistakes on both vists as well. Stating that they were supposed to be like that, however I don't see how my previously white gold rings now being multicolored with yellow gold was supposed to be like that. They also messed up by dropping something over the stones on the side band of my ring messing those up. At least they didn't include their big mistake into the cost! I had to take my rings to get fixed to a different jewelry store and the jeweler told me my rings were a mess and whoever worked on my rings had no business fixing jewelry! read more

Brought an older model Omega watch in for a new battery, and was told that the watch repairman would have to look at due to age and see if it needed more than a battery due to how long it hadn't been used. I say ok, fine. A few days later they tell me it needs major work to the tune of $550, to which I say no thanks and I go get a second opinion of another jewelry store in Allen (with a similar name) and they say they'll replace the battery to see if that gets it working right before recommending any work needed. They put in a battery and called me back the same day to advise it works fine. So I will not be back. read more

Be aware that five months ago, after the long-time owner passed away, this local business was sold and is now part of a multi-location corporate entity, with no jeweler on site. On someone's recommendation, I took a men's wristwatch with a stretch band in for a battery replacement. When I went to retrieve the watch a week later, the watch had a brand new stretch band. Cost for the band: $45 (plus cost of new battery). Since I hadn't asked for a new band, I asked that my old band be put back on. And so the watch went back to wherever the jeweler is located. I tried calling the shop several times, with no phone answered and no voicemail set up, and sent messages on Facebook to try to find out if it was ready for pick-up. I finally went in person. The jeweler had sent my watch back to the store with the new band still intact. After a phone call with the jeweler, the manager said the old band was broken. The band had not been broken when I left it. I asked that the manager take off the new band and just give me the old parts so I could have it repaired somewhere else. After lots of back and forth and raised voices, the manager put all the parts, including the new band, in a bag and said he "was going to just give it to you anyway" but I wouldn't let him explain ... read more

Allen Jewelers is a highly unprofessional, argumentative, shady company. They have cost me hundreds of dollars and hours of my time due to their incompetency and negligence. This is why: I met a perspective buyer for my Rolex at their store as this is his personal jeweler. He wanted them to authenticate it. They opened it up to retrieve the serial numbers and after their watch specialist replace the back and I headed home it no longer worked!!!! It's a perpetual movement. When I called them they blamed it on needing a service. I drove back there the next day and when I expressed how unhappy I was with them, the owner told me to leave it and he would have it working in a couple of days. They also said I could have it serviced for around $400. That was a Friday. I told him I was leaving the state I needed it back and he again said no problem, only a couple of days. I called Wednesday and was told the watch specialist was off that day and he would call me the next day. He never did. I finally called in the afternoon only to find out they took it somewhere else! I asked them to get it back immediately so I could pick it up. It is still not fixed! When I drove back to get my Rolex it was out of the sealed service envelope. When I asked where it was and why it wasn't still sealed he told me he left it at the other place. Shady! I will be taking it to my jeweler to be inspected and decide what to do from there and what it will take to restore it to the condition it was before they touched it. read more

I love Allen Jewelers and have been using them for several years. I have had Pete, the owner and jeweler, recondition a couple of very expensive solid gold watches, do some complicated watch battery changes, and even customize some jewelry. He took a one of a kind ring and resized it, flawlessly resetting all the diamonds on the shaft in spite of the huge increase in ring size. His prices are reasonable and he takes pride in his work. I don't understand the major gripe and one star review. It may have been an inconvenience, which they seemingly tried to make right. The occasional closings and such are just something I've learned to work around, as they are a mom and pop shop. Pete and his wife own and work at the store, and it isn't some large chain. I had no idea of its worth and just wanted to know. She basically was asking why I wanted it appraised and that they only do it for insurance purposes. Like what?! It has 7 diamonds and I just wanted to know the worth and condition to make a decision of what to do with it. She made me feel stupid for just wanting to know the overall condition/worth of the ring. I walked out thinking WOW, she must not want mine or anyone else's business because she was rude and clearly put out by me interrupting her with what she was doing.
