Toilet got clogged and as a result my bathtub was backing up some water. Called around Several places such as Roto Rooter (Flat Rate Expensive), A1 Plumbing ($95/Hour but no estimates) and finally Steve's plumbing (Who didn't want to give any estimates over the phone at all). Now I understand it's up to the Tech/Plumber to make the final assessment but if these companies have been successful for so much years shouldn't they have a general idea of how much things cost? Finally ended up calling Allen's Plumbing, the lady I talked to was friendly and polite, and answered all my questions without being irritated (Yes A1 Plumbing thats you). Also talked to Cheryl on the phone who called to keep me updated on the Plumber's status who seemed to be just as friendly as well (Could've been same person?). Nevertheless, Bennett able to come out within 2 hours and get the job done quickly as well.. The Plumber "Bennett" was a super cool guy, courteous, knowledgeable, and understanding. Also he was very efficient and patient, letting me watch him feed the camera through. I saw him unclog the pipe and he even made sure it was unclogged by feeding the cable deeper to make sure it didn't back up more farther down the line. I honestly never write reviews. However, I had such a great experience with Allens plumbing that I wanted to make sure that I took the time to let everyone know. I needed a water heater replaced on a house that we had just purchased. It wasn't just a replacement. We needed a bigger tank and it had to be relocated. I called initially just to gather information about inline water heaters and solar. Kane (spelling??) at Allens was so nice to explain everything to me with so much detail so that I could make an informed decision. I finally decided Solar was the way to go, so they sent someone out to give a quote. It wasn't the cheapest quote, but I liked the experience and attention to detail that they had. It took us a long while to finally pull the trigger. I called back several times to get more details, ask more questions, etc. They were always so patient, answering each question and even sent people out more than once to adjust the quote based on changes that we had made. They called a couple of times to check in and see if we wanted to move forward but were understanding when I wasn't ready to pull the trigger. When we finally decided to move forward with the installation, they were ready and willing and were able to get everything scheduled within a week. The workers that came to complete the work were great. They were professional and hard workers. They tore our old water heater out which was a difficult task by itself and installed the new solar one outside. It looks great and works great and we couldn't be happier. Very Displeased with the service I have received from Allens Plumbing. Had a Routine Check for our plumbing about a couple months ago. No call no show. I was busy with a important family matter at the time so never really followed up on it. Did call them to tell them. Then I called to schedule a appointment to come to check our plumbing wit our toilet. No show at the appointment time, called saying they busy with another job. Asked if they could come first thing tomorrow morning. They called later that evening a maintenance guy called, not the office saying they can't come tomorrow and wanted to come next week. I said why you guys making appointments then canceling the same day, need to communicate with your office better. Very Very Displeased. They said they will come tomorrow around 12-2. Had my kitchen sink faucet replaced today. I bought the faucet and Allens Plumbing was to remove the old and replace the new. I called them Monday, I asked for a ball park est for the cost of replacing the faucet. The gal I spoke to said between $100 - $150 for the work. I scheduled an appointment for Wednesday. Repair person came over and did the repair work in about 30 to 40 minutes. No complaints about his work. When he handed me the billing statement is was for $245. I thought that was way over charging. He said it was what the company charged for replacing a faucet. He did not give me a quote prior to doing the replacement. In his favor, after I complained he did give a 15% discount. I am surprised this company, who does, I'm guessing, many faucet replacements, couldn't give a more accurate estimate. Had I know what they may have charged I may have gone somewhere else for an estimate. Two star rating for providing poor information to me by the office when I called in for an estimate. read more

Everything from Cheryl, the first person I spoke to, Steve, the tech analyst, the dispatchers, and Scott, the tech who did the install were all polite, professional, anticipated everything (thank you Steve, your suggestion to double check with home depot on their stock and warranty replacement policy saved a lot of potential angry conversation with Home Depots very poorly trained staff). While the install wasn't cheap, it seems to be the going rate and I was more than pleased with the quickness and quality of the install and overall interaction with all the staff. read more

Technicians are professional and do a great job. However, the front office people: schedulers and management do not give them support. They will overbook the techs; have an attitude that it is okay for them to be late for appointments. They do not seem to care how the tardiness of their technicians impact their customers' lives. In 2014 had a great experience with Allens Plumbing in Honolulu twice. Therefore, when I decided to change my 57 year old 4-inch drain pipe below my house I went to Allen's Plumbing. So disappointed. The first appointment I left work early to make the afternoon appointment. Was told the tech was running late and would show up after 4 pm. I rescheduled the appointment. Again the tech was running late and I knew that he would not have the supplies needed nor the time to complete the job before nightfall. So I ask that the technician come and find out what the project entailed. He did come; listened to what I wanted to be done; measured, and wrote down the list of supplies that he would need. By the time he was done the office was closed (after 4 pm) and so I had to call after the Memorial Day weekend to schedule the job. The job got scheduled after having a frustrating experience with the receptionist - they only answer calls; and yet they interrogate you instead of listening to why you called in the first place. When I was finally transferred to the scheduler, it went smoothly. So now the day came for the job to be done. I was excited. Well at 7:38 am I get a call that the technicians would be an hour late (10 am instead of 9 am) because they sent them to another job. My job was scheduled for 2 people and for all day. So why send them on another job????? Well I waited till almost 30 minutes and called to find out the ETA of the techs. And yes, you guessed it. I was told that they were running late. I expressed my displeasure and was transferred to Kaohu, the manager. Kaohu did not even apologize for the inconvenience of their techs showing up late. In fact, she was surprised that I was upset that they were only 28 minutes passed the time I was told that they would be here. So now a project that would require the whole day was down to half a day (if you allow the techs to eat lunch). I told Kaohu that she needs to get out into the field and see what the techs do; they need to schedule the jobs more realistically - not all jobs can be done in 2 hours by 1 person. She did not feel that their was a problem. So I cancelled the job (3 strikes and you're out) and told her that I am taking my business elsewhere. (The job estimate was for a little over $4000). SO - IF YOU HAVE NO LIFE - I would recommend Allens Plumbing because the techs are good. They just get no support from management. read more

I called for service; spoke to Kelly. She was not very nice & I was surprised, because we had very good service for years.I told her the problem with the sink & wanted plumber to check other faucets. She made this deep humming sound, so I asked her if it was serious (I was genuinely concerned) & if something was wrong then.She was rude and then said no one would be there until Wednesday! I'm very satisfied with my service from Allen's. The receptionist told me how much it would cost for a house call and explained all the steps (the technician will call you, etc). They were more than able to accommodate the arrival time for my renter to be present and when their plumber Joey showed up it only took a short time. This is the second time I've used this company. Although I was happy with their service the first time, I have to report that it did not meet my expectations for this visit. This time I had a leaky valve and rusting pipes to go along with it. The job was done well as far as I can tell. I have no complaints about the work and they were courteous and gave me a reminder call that he was on his way. My big complaint is the cost! I did not realize it would cost $900 to fix a valve that took 2 hrs to repair. I spoke with their manager to confirm that it was the right fee and he is standing by his worker. They do not charge by the hour and they are more to charge by the task at hand. If you plan to use them, please be careful and get an accurate estimate. read more

Please consider this, my first Yelp, when making your decision to call Allens Plumbing, rather than anyone else, for this type of situation. After leaving messages with three other contractors, I called Allens Plumbing with my fourth dial about fifteen minutes later. Dispatcher Cheryl was very polite and helpful as she collected my customer information, then proceeded to contact a technician in my area as per my request. Cheryl then hung up and called back very quickly to notify me that Service Technician George M. would be by in approximately twenty minutes. George arrived promptly to assess the situation and answered any of my questions prior to servicing the ancient hot and cold washing machine valves in my residence. George is a very confident and friendly tech, holding polite conversation with me and my family while staying focused on the task at hand. Simply stated, George completed the job and was onto his next service call in about an hour's time from the initial point of contact. As I stated before, fast, affordable, excellent service on the part of George Manguba and Allens. Again, just wanted to give a big mahalo to George M. and Allens Plumbing for providing swift, confident, and friendly service in about a sixty minute time-frame. I have another job pending with Allens and will likely be purchasing the company warranty package, and so should you. I am dealing with a water leak on my property for which I haven't been able to find after checking all plumbing fixtures inside and out. I have concluded that it is in the walls or under ground. I made an appointment for a plumber to come out between 10am and noon. At 11:30 a representative calls to say the plumber is running late and that he will be there between noon and 2pm. At 2pm still no plumber. A call to the office and the dispatcher says the plumber is on his way. At 2:38pm he finally arrives and at that point I come to the realization that this leak which is quite substantial (losing 288 gallons a day by BWS estimates), is not going to be fixed that day. The plumber proceeds to ask me what's going on. He walks around the property and finds a wet spot and asks if we have sprinklers. After answering in the affirmative, he finds a leak at the siphon valve. The leak was too small however to lose that much water as it was only a slow drip. I point this out to him but he focuses on this leak when I am trying to get to THE leak. He tells me he thinks the leak is under the driveway between the meter and the house. He tells me he turned off the main valve to the house and the meter is still running. I'm skeptical so I go in the house and turn on the water. The water is on...and running...and running. Why is the water continuing to flow when he supposedly turned the main valve off? I tell him what I revealed but it is for naught. He tells me he will report his findings to his supervisor, Dennis, and he will get back to me. He then asks me if I want the drip repaired. After all of that, I still have the same problem and no one called me back. read more
