I went there yesterday and I think that will be the last time that I will go. I ordered the soft shell crabs had them sauteed . Well I took one might of the body of the crab and all i had was a mouth full of grit. When the waiter cam buy and asked how everything was I told him the soft shells crabs were not cleaned properly well not even I'm sorry or can I get you something else. Just finished. Finally went there. While there were a lot of old people food was excellent, had soft shell crabs, might be the best I ever had. Claims oreganotto were also excellent. Service was good and appears decor was recently updated. They don't rush you and have tablecloths. Wife had eggplant parm told me it was OK. Dessert was chocolate mousse decadent, cappuccino good. Wine reasonably priced and good. Good value for the money no wonder they have repeat following. We will be back. Also nice fireplace. Also nice soft background music Sinatra, etc read more

Awfully bad! First time I tried the place was a few weeks ago, I had a craving for lobster and it was recommended by friends. They immediately throw your bowl of salad on the table, I will say dressing was good. First trip we received a delicious round loaf of hot bread fairly quickly, second trip, had to ask several times. I ordered the 3lb lobster broiled, I must agree with another reviewer, it had a strange aftertaste kind of like plastic. My wife ordered the clams in white sauce over pasta, tasteless and a very small portion. Server never came to check if you needed anything, only stopped by to drop orders down on the table, he would then return to a table upfront and drink and eat. This happened both trips. The least professional staff I've ever experienced. Two barely teenage kids bussing tables, horrible but not their fault, they received no direction. I watched as they removed plates on several occasions at different tables, problem was people were still eating. This trip I ordered jumbo shrimp scampi over pasta, shrimp were not jumbo, over cooked and only 4 all on a stingy shallow plate of pasta. I forgot the app, we ordered baked clams, came out burned. My wife ordered seafood marinara, all obviously frozen overcooked seafood. Every table around us complained. I guess people are attracted to the "cash price" of the lobsters because there is nothing positive I could say about this place. Dinner - Crusty hot bread and salad were good but all downhill from there. We were there for restaurant week apparently you need to order a drink, so we all had soda which was flat and had no syrup. Lots of menu items are crossed off the list for restaurant week they ran out. Appetizers - corn fritters were good and the eggplant rollatini was cold lacked flavor and was mushy. Duck entree was dry, green beans good. Three lobsters were supposed to be broiled but they were steamed and not very hot. Twice baked potato was good. Banana pudding and mini cannoli were also good. Coffee don't even bother. Service was very poor and we were the only ones there at 3pm, waitress was inattentive and everything was a bother. This restaurant is a one and done. read more

Went to Aletto's for the first time tonight. I can't believe I've never been there before! What a gem! My friends took me for my Birthday. We ordered the Lobster feast. $29.99, bread fresh out of the oven, crusty and mouth watering! with unlimited salad, home made dressings, a 2-3 pound lobster and a side dish. It was amazing. The restaurant had a cozy New England vibe. The staff was friendly, the waiter Jimmy was attentive and super friendly, the bus girls were also a delight. The owner stopped by to say hello. He has owned the place for 40 some years! They even brought out a few scoops of ice cream and a candle and sang me Happy Birthday. Don't let the dated exterior turn you off, once you are inside it's very sweet. Apparently the Lobster deal is available all year long! I will definitely be back. read more

So, we arrived at Alletto's at around 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday and was told by the unfriendly hostess that they were only accepting cash (terminals were down). Okay, we pooled our cash and decided to stay. We were seated and then ignored for about 15-20 minutes. We finally ordered and then had to wait another hour for our lobster to come out. Our waitress, who was NOT the least bit friendly, never came by to check on us or to apologize for the delay. We had to flag down the busboy to get a water refill and sour cream for our baked potatoes. Needless to say, the service was horrible and the food was definitely not worth the wait. We will never return. The entire staff there needs to get some customer service training. read more

Was passing and decided to stop in for food. First, the waitress's were terrible. Didn't mention the specials and didnt ask what choice of sides we wanted with our entrees. Literally just took it down and walked away. Ordered stuffed mushrooms for 10 or 12 dollars and out come 6 nickel sized mushrooms stuffed with tasteless mystery meat. Also ordered an apricot glazed salmon entree, and out came a cheap piece of overcooked fish smothered in a store bought canned glaze (tasted like a sweet and sour sauce) and a baked potatoe. As im eating I hear the guy behind me telling the waitress how "i ordered a pork chop, and, i dont even know what this is. " he kept mentioning how terrible it was and was so turned off he just was sending it back. Id skip over this place, save your money, and get a nice quality meal at McDonalds. read more

But, thankfully, we made reservations based on word of mouth reviews about their lobster before we researched the Yelp reviews. I want to emphasis - this is a 3 star restaurant. It's family owned and operated. My review is based on that. It would be unfair for me to review this place by benchmarking it to a 5 star restaurant. Enough Italian - fare variety and not overwhelming to the point of confusion. Seating: 4 of 5. Casual when seated towards the front of the restaurant but a quaint ambiance in the back room. However, once some of the square tables were opened to round tables, the tables were a bit too close to each other to the point where the waitress had to leave a table empty because the patrons sitting at surrounding tables had the back of their chairs right against the edge of the empty table. Ambiance: 4 of 5. Not sure if I remember music but it was quiet enough to have a round table conversation. Brightly lit in the backroom. Nice blue walls accented by the gold chairs. One of the managers who walked our original party in noticed the close proximity of our table to the next table and ensured us that the patrons at the table behind us were getting their check and leaving soon and she would not seat anyone at the table afterwards because of the seating situation I mentioned above. Our waitress wrote down the list of specials because she knew part of our party was running late. Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu choices and provided honest feedback when we asked her for her opinion of the dishes. Lastly, the original Maitre D brought a dish of dessert samples to show us the choices. Nice touch when compared to being provided with a menu of desserts. And overall, the wait service was as it should be. They approached our table to politely ask us about drink orders, food orders, dessert orders at appropriate times. They cleared our tables with very little disruption to our conversations at appropriate times. Sadly this kind of service is lacking at other businesses where the wait staff is obviously untrained. Went to Aletto's in Lindenhurst (LI) on Wednesday night. Yummy lobster dinner, BUT, very disappointed with server. The waiter spilled hot coffee as he placed the cup on the table and hot coffee landed on me. Needless to say it burned and splattered on the side of my shirt. The waiter asked if I was OK, and I responded "NO I'M NOT OK". As if there was a white elephant in the room, he did not respond to me. So not right, so rude! There was no Manager/Owner at the restaurant, so any complaint would fall on deaf ears. The restaurant is not near me, so at this point I'm not looking to be "Comped" for anything. A really strange place. If you want a restaurant out of the 50's, then this is the place for you. If you catch them during the week when there are very few customers you can do well. The problems occur when the very sweet waitresses have more than a couple of tables to watch. They get overwhelmed and the meal gets ruined. Some examples from last evening... We didn't get our drinks until we were thru with the first course. My steamers came without broth and butter. By the time they did arrive I had finished them. Had I waited, the steamers would have been ice cold. Oh, when my main course arrived the wrong side dish was brought with it. Lastly, my wife ordered a cup of hot tea. It never came. I've eaten here twice, after years of driving by and then hearing not so good reviews. I'm not sure if I picked good days to eat here, but the food was delicious, the salad was big, the desert (flourless chocolate cake) was so rich and decadent. I had the same waitress both times and I can't remember her name but she was great, quick with the drinks, our order was correct, she was always around but not hovering. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. If you are looking for a restaurant with TVs all over the place so you don't have to converse with the people you came in with, this isn't the place for you. Made reservations for a group. several of us ordered the special and was told the price was $39 with $2 off if paid cash. Too late to change and stuck with significantly higher bill. Restaurant was empty yet service was non existent - went to restroom and saw the staff watching TV in the bar. ANY food we have tasted, being our own order or friends orders have been amazing. although the service isn't the best the quality of the food can not and has not been matched. The night started off not so good considering we had a reservation and the door was locked when we got there. Proceeded to tell us that they "forgot to open the door" but we had a reservation so wouldnt you make sure the door is open ? The service was not good either. We were the only group of people eating in there and it took over an hour to get our entrees and we only got garlic bread as an appetizer. The utensils were not clean. One of my family members ordered a dish and it came out in an oil garlic sauce instead of red sauce. We sent it back and got the correct dish. The unfortunate part of that dish was that they reused the same pasta with the red sauce which made it even more gross tasting and watery. We are happy we didnt get any dessert because when we were leaving they had moldy cake in the case. Lets just say, we will never be going back there again after this terrible experience. read more

Went to Alletto's Sunday night with a party of ten. The wait staff was spot on, our drinks arrived quickly, followed by our appetizers which where hot and delicious. My wife got a 3 pound lobster and she is very critical about cooking lobster and it was perfect ! My Chilean Sea Bass was probably the best I've had. Every dinner that hit the table was hot and well prepared. Ten people, zero complaints ! We actually asked the Chef to come out so we could compliment him. We will be back. OK food marred by literally the worst service we have ever experienced. The bus staff helping our incompetent and inept waitress were the only saving grace service -wise as we would have had no service whatsoever if it were not for them. After sitting for 15 minutes, our waitress finally appeared. She made no mention of specials and took our orders in an abrupt fashion, without a hint of friendliness. We were given no choices of potatoes, etc. with the meal. It seems as if taking our order was a bother to her. As a couple, we ordered a glass of wine and a beer with our meal. After another 10 minutes or so, the bus staff brought out a carafe of wine and promptly poured two glasses (even though we ordered one) and set down the beer. We were wondering why they would pour two glasses when one of us asked for beer and also wondering why they brought a carafe instead of a glass, but assumed it was done the way some Greek and Italian restaurants operate with house wine and that they bring out a carafe then charge you by the number of glasses you drink. We were annoyed they poured two without asking but figured we would deal with it. We would have inquired but our waitress was literally nowhere to be found -- ever! She never attended to our tables as long periods passed and we were forced to beg the bus staff for glasses of water and the like. Our water glasses were never filled once without asking and we waited long periods for everything. When I say long wait, I mean it. The meals came out one HOUR after we sat down and surprise surprise, the order was wrong!!!! She brought out two of the same dishes. She realized the mistake on her own and said the other meal would be right out. AT that point, she set down my husbands seafood platter without any questions about whether he needed tartar sauce etc. My husband asked for condiments, including ketchup (for fries he was not given a choice on). After placing down one order and leaving-- she did not return for another 20 minutes. At that point, my husband's food was cold. She completely forgot about the ketchup and acted like it was a new request when my husband asked about it. They finally brought out my meal over 20 minutes AFTER my husband's was served with barely an apology or acknowledgment. The food was ok but ruined by the service. After we ate our meals and had to search again for the bus staff to refill waters (as now we had been there an hour and a half) and refill tartar sauce. Every time we needed service, our waitress was nowhere to be found. She never checked on out table even one time in the entire hour and a half, despite the fact that she had completely screwed up our order!! The only time she did appear was at the end and balked at the fact that we challenged her on the carafe, complaining that we did not mention it sooner. Hey, who were we supposed to mention it to when she fled the scene for almost an hour after taking our orders?? Laughable, inattentive, indifferent poor service. It almost seemed like a hidden camera would appear because the waitress was that mind numbingly bad. Be warned, we wish we had read the reviews before we went. read more

I love seafood and I really want to like this place, I really do, but every time I come here it's a problem. First of all, no matter whether it's empty or packed it takes forever for the food to come out. When it finally does, there is always a problem. I have given this place FOUR tries, because a friend of mine, with excellent taste, swears by it, but each of the four times, there was a problem with the food. It was cold, the lobster I waited 40 minutes for wasn't prepared how i ordered it, and in one case the lobster was even rotten and the owner tried to argue with me that it was normal for the inside to be mostly black and full of red chunks. The prices were kind of steep too. I've tried it and tried it again, I like the atmosphere, I like the people, but they couldn't even get my drink right. I was there well over an hour each time and only once was it even what you would call busy, and somehow they manage to screw up the food every time. If you like seafood there is a place right down the block called Sea Heaven, there you don't have to wait, they have complete dinner's that cost less than Alletto's and come with a whole lot more for your money. I'm sorry to say that I went here tonight with high hopes and was extremely disappointed! This place was very over priced and over rated! My son and I had a $27.00 porter house steak which was marinated great cooked to perfection and as RUBBERY as could be. My daughter had the broiled scallops which consisted of a large plate of linguine and four scallops, she was not thrilled! My husband had the soft shell crab and when it came out I couldn't tell what it was, it looked like a pile of mush. The twice baked potato was a half of a potato skin that tasted like it was stuffed with instant mashed potatoes it left much to be desired. Tonight I went there for my birthday with my dad I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews. What happened totally contradicted all the negative reviews. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was friendly and charming and your backup server was the same. They didn't smother us with niceness but they were there whenever we needed them. We got there at 7 PM exactly, and although the early bird special had just expired, they allowed us to partake in the lower pricing. We ordered a dozen cherrystone clams, and two lobsters which where boiled and then baked. First I came out with the salad which was just a salad. Then they came out with the bread which was piping hot and very good. Next the clams and to our surprise they separated The clams into two separate plates, one for my dad and one for me. We're also surprised that they eat instead of giving us since clams each, instead they gave us eight clams apiece. Then came out the lobster. It was cooked perfectly, with a light stuffing inside. All I can not help but to give this a five star rating and recommend you go there whenever you're in town. read more

This was my first time here. The greeting at the door was non. I went there with 10 people. Waited 20 minutes for a table. I didn't understand why because we were the only ones there. The food was horrible. Everyone at the table got the 2 lb lobster except me. Everyone complained that it was dry dry dry. I ordered the fried seafood combo. He said that there was fried flounder in it but I believe it was basa which is a fresh water fish what you can buy cheaper than flounder. The filet is much fatter than flounder as well. On the menu it said that I came with a salad, a side veggi and choice pasta. I ended up getting French fries and old old corn on the cob. Which isn't even a choice on the menu. Our waiter was very incompetent because he never asked me what I wanted. . He never asked us if we wanted to start off with an appetizer. I had to chase him down at the bar to find out what the sides were. He always looked annoyed. When other people started to come in you could tell the regular clientele. They were treated like family. When they ordered their lobster they got the works. The bib, the nut cracker and moist towelettes. We got nothing!!
