Don Don Donki - Katsudon Katsumitei - "Tokyo Style" pork katsu don (rice topped with egg, tonkatsu drizzled in sauce)

Imagine my delight on my first trip to Hawaii and there's a Donki nearby. The immediate rush of…read moreexcitement filled my veins. The inside is as chaotic and busy as a donki in Japan, although this location (because this is the only location I've been to in Hawaii) seems to be merged with Safeway a bit with the items it held so it's almost double the overwhelming yet still fun to browse and walkthrough. It's bright, it's massive, and I'm sure you can play a mean game of tag inside, but don't. While there was a ton of items that almost swayed me, I only opted for a couple bags of cookies and a little hot wheel for my husband.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Don Don Donki Kapolei …read more On Sunday, May 17, at approximately 3:47 PM, after completing my shopping and paying for all of my merchandise, I decided to stop at the food court and purchase a Wagyu kabob, spending even more money at the store. What should have been a pleasant shopping experience quickly turned into one of the most humiliating experiences I have ever had as a customer. Despite having paid for all of my items, I was stopped, detained, and escorted by security without any lawful justification. My shopping cart and purchased goods were taken from me without my consent, and I was prevented from leaving while employees re-examined my belongings. At no point was I provided with a valid reason for this treatment. The incident occurred in full view of other customers, causing significant embarrassment, emotional distress, and anxiety. As a paying customer who had not only completed a shopping transaction but had also chosen to spend additional money at the food court, I found this treatment unacceptable and deeply disrespectful. I have video evidence documenting the incident, including proof that my purchases were paid for and footage of how I was treated. Rather than being valued as a customer, I was made to feel like a criminal despite having done nothing wrong. I have requested an explanation, preservation of surveillance footage, identification of the employees involved, and information regarding any corrective actions being taken. Until this matter is properly addressed, I cannot recommend shopping at this location. Customers deserve to be treated with dignity a respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

My church was having a craft fair and I was delighted to find them here! I've been meaning to try…read moreout their drinks for a very long time but there was always a long line. So today I was very lucky there was no line. I really wanted to try the pineapple, but I'm on restrictions so I can't have any citrus. I heard the banana coconut was good too but it was not available. So I got the watermelon. I loved it! It was very refreshing. Every sip I would get the small pieces of the blended watermelon. I would have gone back to get more but I didn't finish my 32oz drink. I love that they don't skimp on the drink either. You know like some places they pack it with ice so there's very minimal drink. Here they put enough ice to keep it cold and maximize the drink.

I finally had the opportunity to try my first Vaifala. My family loves vaifala and we ended up…read moreattending the Waikele Food Trucks just so I could try their vaifala. I, honestly, didn't know what to expect. It definitely sounds unique and exotic. Actually - I still am not sure exactly what vaifala is (LOL). Oh well! It was very good though. Typically they give you $5 off if you bring your own mason jar, but the lady who helped us said that wasn't possible at the time, for whatever reason. Perefoti Island Fixx brought their food truck to the Waikele Food Truck event. The staff was very friendly and quick at getting our order out. I let my family decide the order and they chose their Vaifala Strawberry Float. It was very sweet and tasted like a melted strawberry/vanilla ice cream. It contained fresh-cut strawberries inside All-in-all, it was nice to try a new drink.
