I needed to find a repairman as our washer stopped working during mid-cycle. I called 4 appliance repair business with good reviews on Yelp (two of which I used before) and Michael was the only one to return my call. He showed up promptly on the appointed day. I was a little surprised when he told me to stay with him as he diagnosed the problem. I watched as he went through the diagnostic steps which eventually identified the problem. He asked if my wife could join us so he can ask some questions. He wanted to know if we noticed any other problems, in particular if the washer was experiencing more "off balance" warnings. After he gave us a quote to repair the washer (which was reasonable), he gave us a rundown of our washer's condition; i.e. what could go wrong in the coming years and expected life of the washer (it was already 7 years old). We felt like he wanted to give us as much information as possible so we could make the best decision on whether or not to go ahead with the repair. We decided to fix our washer and he returned later that day to complete the repair. Needless to say, we were both impressed with Michael's sincere effort to make sure we make an informed decision. Micheal is super honest and friendly person. He came by today to check on my mom's glass top stove because one of the burners is working intermittently. Micheal told us since the stove is about 16 years old, just use it until it breaks the get a breaks then get a new one. Discovered our dryer not heating up yesterday. I left a message and Michael contacted me about 20 minutes later and was able to set up an appointment for this afternoon. A small water leak (1 drop/10 sec) developed in the back of my Kenmore Elite refrigerator. I researched Yelp and found Aloha Appliance Services with a high rating and positive reviews about the owner, Michael. Noteworthy was how he explained the whole repair process, costs for parts and labor, and then provided a recommendation. Through our discussion, I was convinced that Michael had my best interest in mind. And of course, he will do whatever I was willing to pay him to do. Well after Michael noticed that my refrigerator was manufactured in 2008, e.g. 15 years old, he quickly pointed out that although replacing the water valve, tubing, water filter housing, ice maker (I had small overflow problems) that the costs of parts and labor was quickly pointing to buying a new refrigerator. Michael highly recommended keeping the design simple and try to stay away from all the fancy gadgets and electronics. He also pointed out that due to the age, e.g. close to the end of life, who knows what else may break. In the end, I decided to forgo the repair and look for a replacement refrigerator. The drain pan on my fairly new refrigerator cracked. Michael replied quickly to my call, requested model information via text and had already attempted to obtain the replacement before he even came out, which was all on the same day that I called! When he found the part had to be ordered, he brought materials in hopes of being able to patch the pan. Unfortunately that was not possible. He confirmed that the part was ordered before he left (and it took multiple calls!). He was very sincerely regretful that he had to make a return visit to replace the part, but I was more than willing to have him return for a very reasonable price to complete the repair. Thank you so much for your honesty! I called Mike to see if he could fix our washer. He called back right away and he said right from the start if it's a computerized washer, there is no sense in repairing it. He said it's not worth the money spent. He asked me to send the model and serial number which I could not locate. He helped me locate it via text and sent me pictures of where to find that information. BTW, it's located under the washer lid. I was still thinking it would be cheaper to fix it. So I asked Mike a few more questions via text. He quoted me $250+. This is a great company. Aloha Appliance was contracted by Lowes in Kahului to install a microwave and a dishwasher as part of a four piece appliance suite purchased for our condo. Rocky from Aloha Appliance called me to say they were the installers. We are off island so Rocky also called to let me know the dishwasher and microwave had arrived at Lowes , offered to check where the fridge and range were, called when they arrived at Lowes, offered to be sure Lowes delivery would drop off the fridge and range on the same day Aloha installed their appliances as just the one day was available and, then called the night before to be sure we were set for delivery and install the next day.
