Came home from a work trip to find my brand-new fridge (less than 7 months old) had died--losing hundreds in groceries. My GE oven never worked when it was from brand new as part of a new home build. The builder arranged repair of the oven instead of replacing it. After going back and forth every 2-3 weeks replacing a part that did not fix the issue to waiting for the new part to come in, the oven was fixed after 3 months. Of all the technicians that came out (Chris, Kyle, and Kevin), I really liked the brothers Kyle and Kevin. They're easy to talk to and knowledgeable. The only gripe I have about the company is having to call them to see if the new part came in and to schedule installation. They would never call on their own accord, unless GE reached out to them (who I had to call to create a case in order to have the oven replaced if replacing the parts didn't fix the problem). read more

When our 4 yr. old GE refrigerator from Best Buy started making an unusual high pitched "funnel" noise, I filed a warranty claim with the extended warranty provider, Assurant Service Protection Advantage, and was referred over to the exceptional people at A & E Appliance Inc. We're thankful our experience was 5-star from start to finish. As soon as I called them directly, they appointed a technician to visit us within less than 48 hours later. On 01/14, Kyle showed up at the scheduled time slot to evaluate the issue and proceed with ordering the replacement part. He was friendly, professional and courteous, but most of all, he immediately knew exactly what the problem was. As he predicted, the replacement part arrived within 10-14 days and someone from A & E promptly contacted us on Day 9. The repair took place a few days later on 01/26. To our pleasant surprise, the owner himself - Aaron Silva - showed up and within 30 minutes everything was running perfectly. Aaron was awesome and such a wealth of experience and expertise in his line of profession. It's a blessing to personally meet wonderful local business owners like Aaron and his staff who are dedicated to excellence and have a heart for helping people. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Go with ANY other provider on the island, hire your little brother, before you even reach out to this company for any services. Let me lay out my experience with this "business". And I put air quotes because any reputable business would not behave the way these people do. Anyways, I paid for a "fixed price repair" that covers travel, labor and parts to fix our washer through Electrolux. They pushed the work order out to A&E (unfortunately) because they are REPRESENTATIVES OF ELECTROLUX and they had a technician, Kyle, come out to have a look. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2025. And yes, it is JANUARY 2026. It's been 5 months of dealing with their lack of professionalism and guess what? Our washer isn't fixed yet. Through these 5 months of dealing with this so called "company", they start quoting us different numbers. First, parts aren't covered because it's considered an accessory? Second, they need another technician to come out to help so now we have to pay $600 on top of the $330 we already paid for the extended warranty because apparently it's not covered (and yes, we read through the terms and conditions and it says labor, parts and travel are covered). If we don't want to pay that, then we need to take the washer off ourselves and the one technician is covered. And if we can't do that, we should "go somewhere else". Wild! And yes, they actually said this lol. We're going back and forth with A&E and Electrolux and A&E's office girl escalates the ticket to their owner. I'm like, FINALLY we'll move forward with this. LOL that was not the case. My husband speaks to Aaron, the owner. His attitude was that he's too busy and that this always happens with work orders from Electrolux and the process is this and that. Okay, what does that have to do with our issue? I'm not partnered with Electrolux. I didn't even choose to hire you! You guys got a work order for being a partner and reached out to US. So instead of trying to resolve the issue, we just get a therapy session of why it sucks for him and his company to work on orders they get for being partnered with Electrolux. Not even a sorry for the inconvenience. Keep in mind, throughout this entire experience, WE have had to reach out to THEM for every single follow up, even though they tell us "we'll give you a call back". Several weeks can go by and they wouldn't reach out to us. So if you're expecting a call back, you'll be waiting forever. When we did contact them, no one has answers or explanations or even any compassion for the lack of professionalism they exhibit. After going back and forth with these people and explaining to them what our experience has been like, because at this point, it's been several months and they haven't delivered any services, we decide we'll figure out how to take the washer off and have one technician come out. Well surprise! Now, there's an out of pocket cost for $300 because it's going to take more than 1 hour to fix the washer. Even though they said, it would be covered with just one technician. My husband and I both work customer-facing jobs, and are highly aware of the way we speak to customer facing agents. We know how it goes. And even through all these inconveniences, my husband managed to stay composed. Never yelled or acted out of pocket. All we did was ask for updates and explanations and a call back lol. When we asked for an explanation of the charge, Paula said she didnt sell us the warranty and she was involved with the sale so go ask Electrolux. She said we've been difficult. Apparently because we called back for an update after her employees don't get back to us... multiple times. Then, decided to tell us to go somewhere else. At this point, I feel scammed. We thankfully got our money back from Electrolux and will be contacting a new, and more professional, local company to do work on our washer. After reviewing other people's experiences, it seems this is their brand. Unprofessional, unfriendly, unaccountable. Save yourself the trouble and book with someone else. read more

I requested A&E Appliance to come back out to service my refrigerator despite them dropping the ball on my service the first time. I needed them to write a report to Lowe's Assurant saying that my appliance was unrepairable, so I could get a replacement. They were supposed to do this the first time after changing everything and my fridge was still inoperative. So Lowe's Assurant submits another claim to have my service scheduled today with them and they cancel my work order. Nothing cancelled on Lowe's Assurant side. I took off today for no reason. Contacted Lowe's Assurant to write a complaint on this company and they are working on getting me a credit to replace my fridge due to the poor service I was provided. Insurance claims...do not go through these folks. The follow through is poor even though you communicate with them in a nice way. read more

A&E was sent by GE to determine if my brand new washer/dryer unit could be fixed after the washer exploded. The repairman was shocked to see the extensive damage to the washer and he told me it was a danger to try to repair and it should be replaced. He took photos and said he would tell GE that I needed a new machine, particularly since I didn't trust the one that exploded. When I spoke with GE customer service, they told me the A&E repairman said it could be fixed but I refused the repairs. He did not send the photos to GE. After a week of being shunted from person to person, I wrote to GE on Facebook and the CEO by e-mail. I included my photos. Within one week Missy Smith had the unit replaced. When she saw the photos, she knew it was irreparably broken. IfA&E is sent to inspect your appliance, take photos of damages, if any, record what the repairman tells you, and don't trust them. read more

My brand new GE stacked washer/dryer didn't work. Home Depot sent A&E Appliance to check out the situation. The technician who came was Kaleo. He was very polite and knowledgeable. He ordered a new control panel and a new dryer door and said the parts would arrive in 7 to 10 days. He said A&E would call me when they had the parts to schedule a time to come. My only concern is that after 20 days I hadn't yet received a call. So I called A&E to find out what the situation was with my parts. The lady (Shondra(?) apologized and said their warehouse was backed up. She scheduled a time. It was the same technician (Kaleo) who came. He installed the new parts and everything seems to be working now. No complaints with the technician, only with not being kept informed of the delay in getting my new parts. read more

I had temperature issues with my Whirlpool refrigerator where my food would freeze in the refrigerator portion. I called it in to my Home Depot warranty and they ordered the necessary parts and shipped them out within 3 days. Once the parts came in, Nicky was able to schedule me in within the week. Kyle the technician, came in a few minutes earlier than scheduled. He proceeded to install all the parts within 1/2 hour. He did some testing and adjusted the temperature to the manufacturer's recommended settings. The refrigerator is working fine now. I would recommend A&E Appliance to do your repair for your major appliance/s. Kyle the technician, is competent, efficient and very personable. read more

They were very communicative as far as confirming the appointment time and showing up within the agreed upon window...much appreciated since everyone's time is valuable. The repairman who came to work on the job was pleasant and respectful, taking off his shoes before entering and donning a mask while inside. He troubleshot the issue with the dryer and was able to get it working within an hour or so. This was an overall great experience and I would recommend again. read more

This rating also covers Best Buy and Geek Squad. My rating may change when my Whirlpool Refrigerator gets fixed. I purchased this unit from Best Buy last February 2022. My 18 month old refrigerator went down in late August, with a warranty with Geek squad. A/E Appliance was tasked to troubleshoot and repair my refrigerator, but until now it's still down. The first attempt to repair (9/2), the technician came and diagnosed it as having a malfunctioning part or parts. He placed an order for the parts, and said that the parts should be in by ten days. He didn't return until early October, where he installed the new parts and assured me that the ref should be working ok. The ref was fine for about a week, then the same problem re-occurred. I called Geek Squad back and was informed my new appointment was in 10/26, however A/E was never contacted about the new schedule. Another call to Geek Squad and this time the same technician returned. He diagnosed the unit and said the new part he installed was defective. He also stated that he will contact Whirlpool about this issue and inform me thereafter. He didn't call. I got hold of him, and was told that the parts were ordered and should take about ten days to arrive. That was last October 31. I am still waiting. For the meantime, my refrigerator is useless. read more

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Costco. The refrigerator was still under warranty. On October 1, I noticed there was an issue with the refrigerator cooling. I checked the temperature in the refrigerator and it was reading 72°F. I called Costco and they contacted Whirlpool who uses A&E Appliance as their official repair company in Hawaii. I initially was told the appointment was going to be on October 3 from 8 to 12 PM, but I did receive a call from the company stating that they could not come that soon and they would come and assess my refrigerator on October 5 from 12 to 4 PM. On October 5, Kyle came and assessed my refrigerator stating that the fan was not working and he would need to order the part. He would call me once the part came in and he would return to my house within 7 to 10 days to fix my refrigerator. We waited patiently to hear back from Kyle. Mind you I have no functioning refrigerator, which is challenging when you have young children who want milk, eggs, and meat. After 14 days we called the company and they stated they had no record of me and had no idea who I was!! Since I had Kyle's cell phone number, I called it several times and left messages to no avail. He never returned my phone calls! The company finally stated that they would come out and install the part on October 22 between 12 and 4 PM however no one showed up. Once I realized that no one was coming I called their main number but surprise surprise they close at 4 PM! Upset, I called Costco concierge service again to complain about the poor service and the fact that 21 days later I still did not have a functioning refrigerator. As Whirlpool was already closed for the day, he gave me the 1-800 number and I called them the following day and a new appointment was set up. A&E Appliance finally showed up on October 24 to fix the refrigerator. The repair man again was Kyle. He completed the job and left, acting like there was nothing wrong. Whirlpool really needs to get another company to fix their appliances! Overall I think they make good appliances, but it makes me think twice about purchasing another one if I'm going to be stuck with this company fixing it if it breaks. read more

We've been lucky to be blessed with cool winter weather these past couple months, at the same time that our LG portable air conditioner has been out of commission. Our LG unit's plug was burnt out due to a combination of us using a three-prong adapter (two-to-three prong) and bad wiring (it's an old house). We got an electrician in to ground the wires and setup a new outlet in our room this past Monday. Now all we needed was to replace the air conditioner's plug. I requested quotes from a few appliance and air conditioning repair specialists, but A&E was the only ones that were able to help us. In fact, they were more than happy to provide us service. I got in touch with them on Tuesday, and they came by less than 48 hours after to take a look at our unit that was giving us issues. Aaron was the technician and he was very friendly and courteous. He reminded me of a really cool local uncle. Aaron was very knowledgeable of portable air conditioners and he went right to work to replace our unit's plug (luckily, he already had a brand new one on hand). Terrible service and don't know what they are doing. They come to fix my washing machine 4 times, still NOT working ( I don't have a functional washing machine for already over 3 months). Telling me that they are going to come again (the 5th time) to change the "same part". WTF?! No matter what day/ what time you call, no one answer the phone. No matter how many time you leave a message for them to call back, no one return your call. The only thing you can do is WAIT! If you are lucky, they may call you back within 2 weeks. Had a condensation problem with my new Frigidaire side by side appliance. Based on the symptom , they knew what part that needed to be ordered without coming out. I actually preferred that due to covid and didn't have to leave work just to have it diagnosed for 10min. Part took awhile due to the holiday shipping and covid. Part arrived and Sheldon was quick to install and fix. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He also did a quick drain of my dishwasher drain since I had a small issue. Since August I have had to take off work 11 times for them to come to my house and not fix my washer. I am forced to use this awful company under the Sears Home Warranty. Since the first repair request date, the same parts have been ordered and installed multiple times including shocks having been installed "backwards" and needing to schedule additional visits and orders due to their incompetence. We've been using A & E Appliance for over 13 years now and they have been very consistent with their customer service and quality - most recently our 13 year old front loader dryer started squealing and squeaking like loud fingernails on a chalkboard! We called, they were able to come by the next day and quickly diagnosed the problem, the tech Sheldon had the parts in his van and quickly replaced the old parts... the problem was solved in a couple hours. Brandon was clean and efficient and even took extra precautions because of COVID and wore a mask and was very mindful of distancing. TERRIBLE COMPANY. We used our Lowe's service plan, booked through Assurant. We scheduled and someone came by and diagnosed our problem, telling us they needed to try to order parts to fix it. Tech told us to call back in a week if nobody called. I called OVER 5 times and left messages, not to mention emails. NOT ONE PERSON CALLED BACK. It's been over a month and our refrigerator is still broken. And we've actually needed service since July, working that out with Lowe's. I called Lowe's and they told us A & E closed out our service, without updating Lowe's with any file notes or status. I hope this company goes bankrupt. Worst experience I have had with a company in a long time. And I've dealt with some bad ones where we needed a mediator. I'm positive they're charging Lowe's for their bullshit "repairs." if I could give them no stars I would. I understand things happen, but this company is ridiculous! I have a whirlpool cabrio that needed to be fixed (its under warranty and was contacted/authorized by whirlpool to do the repair). the original date of repair was cancelled two days prior to them coming (could not reverse my vacation day so I had to just take off). they diagnosed everything over the phone and requested pics to be emailed and texted. we rescheduled for another day because parts had to be ordered. the day of the 2nd scheduled repair, the tech came out, took a look and asked me for the hinges and screws for the washer cover, he only had the cover. I didnt have those things so he told me to call the office. upon speaking with the office person and also a lady named sandra, I explained the situation and all she had to say was, "well we only ordered what u asked for and u didnt ask for screws". I'm not a repair person so how would I know what I would need for my washer? they didnt send out anyone initially to take a look and confirm what I needed. this company is not efficient! they dont care if u have to repeatedly take off. they r the only repair company contracted by whirlpool to do the repairs. for my town, they only come out on certain days and only schedule when they have enough appointments. waste of my time! read more

Bestbuy Geek Squad scheduled a service appointment with A&E Appliance to repair my portable air conditioner on Monday morning. They never called to confirm, so when I finally got someone to talk to on the phone on Friday they said the appointment was actually made with their "sister" company A&E Air Conditioner and that they were supposed to call me. I was told they would have someone call me that day and that yes the appointment was scheduled for Monday. Well guess what? Of course NO ONE EVER CALLED OR SHOWED UP FOR THE APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY MORNING AND I TOOK THE DAY OFF FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON! When I called them again, they had the nerve to tell me they don't even work on portable air conditioners and the appointment should NEVER have been made with them so they didn't send anyone to my house for the SCHEDULED appointment. I asked why no one bothered to call and let me know and I was told that Bestbuy and Geek Squad should have called me! Are you kidding me?! This "company" should not be in business. Look at all the NEGATIVE reviews they have gotten! In a nutshell, my dryer broke, and it took 2.5 months to fix it. The dryer was under warranty, but the wait issues were a month long for 2 separate requests for parts. The staff was not rude or curt, but I noticed my calls not being returned towards the end of the process. The tech came in to fix our dishwasher since we had it insured. The tech said he would have to order the part. It could take months to get it in. We were skeptic about the wait time but we made do for the time. That visit was in April. Got a follow up about part in May. Said part would be available in July. The entire summer passed. We finally called in to follow up with them. Someone picked up and seemed confused about our part order. Said that they would call us back shortly. Never got a call back. I can understand if somebody dropped the ball and maybe not ordered the part, or maybe accidentally used on another account. The main issue was we didn't get a call back. read more

After a couple of weeks they came to diagnose the problem, then after waiting over 5 weeks I finally called to ask what the hell was happening and when someone was coming to fix my washer. Apparently they forgot (?) and someone came to fix it the next week. The man who came to do the repair was nice enough but the new part broke while installing it and he said they needed to order another and would try to rush it. Nothings happened since and its been a total of 14 WEEKS. They never update you on the situation, rarely respond to emails or voicemails, and when you do get someone on the phone theyre short with you and act like its normal to wait over three months (with no end in sight) to do a simple appliance repair. Our fridge was still under warranty (only 2 weeks left on it!) and the ice maker broke. I called up Whirlpool and they said this was the company that would service it. They told me Wednesday morning from 8-noon. I called up A&E just to make sure and they let me know that the whirlpool time assigned was actually not available but they could do it on the afternoon. I later received a call confirming the time. I asked if they could call 30 minutes before they are headed to my house so I could have time to leave work to meet them. With all these bad reviews, I expected bad things, but on Wednesday at around 1pm I received a call from a very polite person saying that they would be there in an hour. So I headed home, and right at the time they said, they showed up. Ray was professional and courteous, he opened up the fridge, and I kid you not, in around 10 minutes he had taken out the old ice maker and replaced it with a new assembly unit. I immediately heard the water entering the unit (this hadn't worked before). Totally painless and exactly what I wanted from a service appointment! From what I understand, there are TWO A&E services, there is this business A&E Appliance in Wahiawa, and there is A&E Factory Service which services Sears items. I don't think they are the same company. I'm wondering if some of these bad reviews are for the sears factory service one. Either that or I got lucky, but I'm very happy and finally have ice again! read more

They came to fix my washer. The technician split without telling me he was leaving. He left all the packaging and rubbish on the side. The washer was not fixed. It still does not work. It is now leaking all over the floor. You would think the technician would be sure it works before he leaves, clean up, and would let the customer know he is leaving.
