And this morning, I got drenched walking over to Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe (ABC from now on). Even days like this makes me appreciate how beautiful Hawai'i is and how nice it is for me to come out to ABC (soaking wet) for brunch and latte... and cogitate, ponder, contemplate about things of some consequences. The aloha bread seems so simple, but it's so delicious! The bread is herbed, but the bread itself is sweet which contrasts nicely with the savory insides. I remember having one near the end of a food convention and it was still so good at room temp. I had their Kyoto style cold brew which had a juicy berry coffee feel/taste. I have been coming here for almost a week 3 days out of the 7 days and they can take my money. Their mocha blended is my go to it has the caffeine taste and energy but still smooth blended that is refreshing. I also tried their acai bowls and it is super good and refreshing too. There fried rice wad good and the scones were the typical scone taste you expect. The service is really friendly and they are busy in the morning before work everyone is wanting their coffee and pick me up. I'm only giving 3 stars because the parking is so bad I circled around for 15 minutes before finally finding a spot. I didn't give up bc I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time. Besides that, everything was fine. Their vanilla macadamia latt was pretty good The upstairs is a great place to study, but i just wish it was open later than 2? I got here at 10:30 and wish I could've stayed longer to finish my work but they close so early - but I guess that's my fault for not waking up early enough lol. My newest obsession is Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe. I've been wanting to go here and I'm so happy I made the time today. First of all if you need a grab and go I'd suggest you call or order online not that it take awhile but because this awesome place makes just about everything to order the freshness is off the charts! So much to describe, I apologize in advance for all the pictures because it tells much more than I am able to describe lol! I was gravitating towards coffee to start but didn't see the menu behind the counter so I decided on a frozen blended green tea matcha and OMG way better than that famous "blended" drink. Now of course I need to try their Aloha Bread...sundried tomato automatically had my attention ahhhh, and couple of mini scones (double chocolate & green tea matcha) for friends, so no I did not try them but they loved it. Okay the Aloha Bread...I admit I inhaled it being so hungry and how can you not, it was so nice and warm the mellow cheese highlights the sundried tomato and spinach. The first bite had a huge cheese pull like eating a pizza, it was so stuffed with yummy filling in every bite it's gonna be tough to try something different. They do provide a couple of tables outside to enjoy your breakfast which is always greatly appreciated during these times. I just found this place about a month ago and now I am hooked! Take out and outside dining only at the moment, but there's plenty of parking and a shaded area to wait for your order. Everything I've tried has been excellent! Iced coffee (black) or black unsweetened iced tea are my drinks of choice. The aloha bread is amazing! Tastes fresh baked and comes out warmed. I've only tried the sun dried tomato bread, but it's so good I order it every time. I have also tried the banana cream cheese scone and the blueberry cream cheese scones and they are also really good. Our favorite neighborhood coffee shop lol. We like rolling out of bed & stopping by since we live pretty close. Our order is basically set - a cold brew, a latte, a breakfast croissant, an aloha bread of some sort, & maybe a scone if something special catches our eye. This time around, our mischievous dog stepped on my boyfriends breakfast croissant so he couldn't enjoy it :( but I shared my aloha bread with him, which had sundried tomato, spinach, & added mushrooms. I saw pictures of their cinnamon rolls on Instagram and just had to try it for myself, because cinnamon rolls are my weakness! This cute little cafe is located on Waimanu Street, right behind Pacifica Condominiums. I don't think they have any parking, so if you do plan to come here, look for street parking nearby or bring a co-pilot with you so that he/she can jump out and pick up the goods. The cinnamon roll did not disappoint. It's huge and is topped with cream cheese frosting! I also grabbed a few spam musubis since we were headed to the beach. An absolute favorite local bakeshop and cafe of mine! If I lived or worked around Kaka'ako, I would come here every day if I could! I love Aloha's scones, iced coffee, and breakfast burrito! On my first visit here, I ordered the pineapple honey scone and the chocolate macadamia nut scone for comparison. Normally, I would think scones as so-so since they're dry in texture to me. Apparently, I've been going to the wrong places because Aloha's scones are moist, good-sized, and not too sweet! There was a good amount of chocolate in the chocolate mac nut scone. These were one of those foods I was a bit weary to share with my husband at first because they were that good! I love the iced coffee as well. I didn't have much expectation, but the coffee flavors and sweetness were just right. I can't recall if there's a dairy-free version as I didn't customize my drink, but I'm sure Aloha would be willing to oblige. The Kyoto style cold brew was nice and strong as well! The breakfast burrito was surprisingly tasty and filling. I've had a fair share of breakfast burritos growing up in San Diego, CA, and this burrito was filled with all sorts of ingredients. The size admirably catches up with those newborn-sized burritos and unlike those tiny wraps! Aloha Bakehouse is great for catering as well. I love Aloha Bakehouse. Their hours may be limited and they're closed Sundays, the day I'm definitely at Kaka'ako for church (::sad face::), but please do try to skip those neighboring chain cafes and bakeries for Aloha Bakehouse! If you're looking for a study spot in Honolulu, then look no further. On my quest for the best cafe for last minute cramming in the city, this has been at the top of the list lately. As I try out other places, this may change but for now I'm happy with Aloha Bakehouse. The upstairs seating area is great and has a lot of space. You can come with other people or solo and some of the tables are big enough to accommodate large groups too. There are bathrooms to the right and a really considerate touch is the water dispenser you'll see when you walk in. This floor gets natural sunlight and has fans scattered around making it a prime study sesh location. From what I can tell, there's no time limit for seating and since it's mostly unmanned, you don't feel pressured to leave at a certain time. A heads up though: they do have events from time to time such as live music, so if you'd rather have it quiet, I'd check for updates on their Instagram page. Jalapeño aloha bread (cheese, olives, jalapeño, pepperoni $8.50): I tell people that the aloha bread is similar to a calzone w/ a fluffier breading. It's almost a cross between that and a panini. The jalapeño option is great because they don't skimp on the jalapeño and also add in other fillings as to make it more substantial. Since it's also a little spicy, this is my favorite so far. Sundried tomato & spinach aloha bread ($8.50): Not bad but I think there was too much bread for the amount of filling. Banana cream cheese scone ($3:50): Whenever I go to a bakery that is known for their scones, I usually get one. That being said, each time I get one I think it'll be the best scone I've ever had but this has never been the case. I know scones are supposed to be dry but for some reason I always expect it'll be a little less dry each time I have one. If you're like me and like a good soft or moist pastry, I'd skip on this. Lox bagel sandwich: A pretty solid bagel sandwich with veggies, capers, cream cheese, and smoked salmon inside. It was smaller than I expected it to be and for $12.50, I won't be getting this again. Overall, I think the aloha bread is a winner even though the prices have been raised quite a bit. This is a cute spot! It's very small, so it can be easy to miss. I think it's a great hole in the wall for a quick bite and caffeine fix. I had the coconut mocha and the Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut scone - both were really good! I liked that the coconut mocha wasn't too sweet. The scone was also a good size and really fresh. I really like that they have real food too. Although I didn't order any since I came before lunch time, this seems like a great spot for a quick meal! One thing I was confused about was that after you order, you can actually grab the scone yourself. They're on display right up front. Parking can also be a little hard. There's only 2 in the front but if you go further down the street to where Harry's Cafe is, there's plenty of metered parking. It's a little bit of a walk but not too bad. Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe had been on my list to go for a minute. We finally had the opportunity to drop by today! Super cute store tucked in on Waimanu Street. I was surprised to find an area of that street where I'd honestly never been before. That being said, I think visiting is worth the hunt for parking. We initially only saw tow-away areas, but luckily snagged a spot on the street near the entrance. The latte was well priced and smooth. I would have like the espresso to have been a bit stronger. However, it was still good and I would consider buying again if going back for scones or to try another food item. Coffee: 4/5 Scones: 4/5 (Ube was out of this world! Our toddler would have eaten the entire thing if we had let her. I didn't care for the strawberry white chocolate or blueberry as much). I appreciate that the scones are individually wrapped right now. Atmosphere: 5/5 (including service and speed of order completion) Next time, I really want to try the Aloha Breads and some of the other scones. The food also looks yummy! We've actually been going here for years and they still have the BEST tasting lychee iced tea I ever had. Also those healthy salads with an EXCESS of proteins; my bbq chicken salad was as incredibly good as always, and I actually run out of lettuce before I run out of chicken. Simply amazing! They also have some of the best scones that are freshly made each day. In addition to that they sell coffee, iced brew, plus plate lunches. Such a cute hole in the wall spot. I found this place on yelp. There's parking available on the street. You order in the window and the wait time is approximately about 15 minutes. It definitely is worth the wait. The prices are super affordable and they offer a really great selection. When you've ordered your food, you have the choice to go upstairs and it is gorgeous. I did not expect to see such a beautiful arrangement with real plants and a lot of education on natural solutions. They have a display of some doterra products and they have their diffuser running. I came here and they had a huge basket of fresh fruits that you could grab for free. They are so generous and they offer really great food. TOP 3: - Ube Cream Cheese Scone: I loved this scone - creamy with a distinct note of ube flavor! The scones are moist enough while still retaining that scone-like crumb. Totally recommend this with a nice cup of coffee - it's a bit sweet so a less-sweet coffee option would be best to pair with it!\ - Blueberry Cream Cheese Scone: Same notes as above...but with a blueberry flavor! Lots of fresh blueberries in this - so good. - Fried Rice: Wowwee! Lots of yummy goodness in here, including some greens! The sesame flavor is strong, but I like it.
