We made a reservation for 6 in advance on a Saturday night. Initially, we were all excited to try this place for the first time but was disappointed at the end. The beer flight and cocktails were good. The food was disappointing. The Korean fried chicken wings were completely burnt and super salty. The buns of the crispy chicken sandwich were extremely stale and dry, it was probably old bread. Our server forgot us twice and had to wait for a long time for our food to come only to be disappointed in the end. Our server was considerate enough to update us that the kitchen staff is working hard to accommodate other orders but they may need more assistance. We had a large (10 person + 1 dog) gathering at Aloha Beer on a Friday night. The host specifically chose Aloha Beer for the family dinner because the dog was welcome. Our service was really friendly, and the food was pretty good. Since it's primarily a bar, I was impressed at the food, in fact. Everything else was tasty. The Poke Nachos were good--but the house made chips were fluffy, crisp and amazing! I'd go back just for the chips. We also ordered Truffle Garlic Parmesan Fries, Cheese Bread, Garlic Mushroom Tapas, Giant Pretzel, Crispy Rice & Spicy Ahi, a house salad, some kind of pizza, a burger and a bunch of beer. Everything I tried was good. The dog had a couple of items as well, but I didn't try those. The one item I did find disappointing was the karaage chicken--I'm really spoiled by the real thing, which we ate all ever Japan--it wasn't even close to that. To top it all off, we got the Bigass Sundae, which was the grand finale. It took a while for the sundae to arrive, but when it did, we understood why--amidst the mountain of ice cream, were freshly fried donuts and waffles. That was incredible, and we finished off every bite (see photos of before & after). I'd absolutely go back for the nachos & sundae...if they had a smaller version. My friend & I went to the Kaka'ako location for some after dinner drinks & pupus. We had a reservation for outdoor seating, which has a nice ambience. When we got there it took a little for us to get seated though. But the hostess was really nice. While sitting outside, we got a little drizzled on because it was windy & rainy for a short time but manageable. I think for next time I would rather sit inside. Outside they have a store with merchandise and they also sell pastries & coffee in there too. You scan the QR code to view the menu, but they also have paper menus. It's been over 5 years since I last visited and many changed for the better. The outdoor patio area is super dog friendly, or should I say caters to dogs. We came here after hiking with my dog and she was immediately served iced water in a dog bowl. Then we ordered mushrooms truffle pizza with added pepperoni and sausage, a soft pretzel with mustard cheese sauce. There were 3 menu items specifically or dogs, she got a generous serving of cooked chicken in a dog bowl. It was fun to socialize with other dogs there too. The pizza was unbelievable, love the crust and ingredients are fresh and perfect. The soft pretzel could serve 4 people it's huge and done right. I just wish there was a place nearby for the dog to relieve herself, we had to walk almost 1 block to find grass. We paid for valet parking oon the roof. Stopped by on a late Saturday after to taste a couple beers and the food. I had the Crispy Rice and Spicy Ahi app. It took a long time to get the app so it was cold. The crispy rice was crispy but hard. The Ahi was okay, the spice comes from the jalapeño pepper slice on top. Not a bad appetizer if warm. Little gem in the more industrial area of Ward/Kakaako. Parking is a little challenging however there is valet service. Aloha beer is an interesting mix of restaurant and outside bar in the more interesting part of town. There are car mechanic shops in the area and a park where some unsavory characters hang out. I just attended an evert here and this place is really like an escape in urban Honolulu in an area that is attempting to go through the re-gentrifying process. The food and drinks here are good. They have a nice selection of wines that are non-traditional and the mixed drinks are decent if a tad sweet. The appetizer like items such as the pizza and nachos are delicious. They also have mini donuts you can dip in melted chocolate. Surprisingly they have a wide variety of salads that are fresh and offer that healthy option. Fun place. Nice people. They're very pet friendly. There's a section on the menu for your pet so feel free to bring them. They host quite a few events here as well. We had gone to trivia night. It was fun but the seating fills up quickly. Best to there early. Their pizza is really good. A lot of cheese. Burgers are good as well but very average. Their bigass sundae is awesome! Should be shared though! Although, if there were a contest for it, I wouldn't say no . They have live music which is great! But not so good if you want to talk. They have bar stool seating inside and outside. Outside also has regular tables as well. Their gift shop is cool. If you missed it, it's behind the stage. Very small but some good merch. Unfortunately, no bigger shirt sizes. I believe they went up to 1 or 2 XL. But they do have chew toys for the pets...very pet friendly. They have validated parking for four dollars. We spent our time at the beer Garden which is a nice open area where dogs are welcome. I'm not sure what set her off, but she wouldnt tend to our table, she'd sit, smile, and talk with her friends and when we tried to get her attention, she'd give us a stink look and not even give us a response. This is a dog and baby friendly spot, just an F.Y.I. It was a busy Friday night but we found a table outside and a young man had just started playing some chill vibes on his guitar and singing. It was sweet. The outside area was nearly full but our waitress still made it over to us in record time. We tried a couple of flights and that is the way to go as they change their beer offerings monthly. I'm in love with the Hibiscus and then ordered a half pint. I mention this as not many places let me order a half pint. I'm a light weight ok? I appreciate this. We ordered the margarita pizza and it was ok. They have a wood fired oven and it looked delish. Sadly not much flavor until we asked for the chili peppers and cheese sprinkles. Not that helped alot! Not much basil and we couldn't taste the mozzarella but I'll try another one next time. Can't recommend the margarita pizza tho as it's bland, reminds me of baby food. lol My only negative comment is the water tastes and smells like chlorine so we got some lemon to help get it down. Loved everything about this place. Valet parking was easy and cheap. Two big buildings with a great patio setup in between. Cool staff serving up house made beers and tacos on this Taco Tuesday. How can you refuse tacos when they are grilling them on an outdoor bbq right in front of you. We split a tapas flight (pictured) which had pickled veggies, walnuts, olives and pepperoncinis. I had their flight of IPA's which were quite good. To keep the multiple dish theme going, I had their taco sampler which had one each of barbacoa, chicken and beef street tacos. All excellent. I'm very happy to say Aloha Beer, in my opinion seems to have elevated themselves overall! Over the past year we have noticed a more consistent staff and improved food menu and options thanks to a new chef (I was told). There is an improved patio area that gives an almost garden like feel thanks to all the greenery and plant additions. The last several times we have been here service is good and food delicious. We enjoy the beer selections and seasonal choices. Last night we shared the cheese bread which is a flat bread style baked and seasoned well. For bonus points their women's restroom was very clean and non-odious which is far superior to other area Microbrewery restaurants I will leave unnamed! I was told many years ago by a restaurant health inspector you can judge a restaurant kitchen without seeing it based on the cleanliness of their bathrooms, if they take pride in their facilities, they take pride in their kitchen. The pricing is out of control. I got a glass growler a few months ago. To fill it (64 oz) was $32..same price as if I sat at the bar! That's excessive since it's a "to go" situation. Got there with our dogs at around 830. Hostess was so great to get our table ready while we went to park the car. She sat us right near the entrance. Was a lovely table with lots of space for the dogs to lay in the walkway, as well as us able to hear each other. Our app order of pulled pork nachos and waffle fries came so quickly! It was different to not have salsa for the nachos or ketchup for the fries. The nachos were on the creamy side (super huge scoop of sour cream and some other creamy sauce), had some stale chips, and topping ratio was off. But good enough to eat. The fries were a great app to share. We shared a half-half pizza (half sausage and half vege nice with added sausage). Took a long time (we were told they made a mistake so had to remake) but was good when we got it. Thin and tasty crust. We ordered our pups a chicken bowl (pricey for small portion) and a small bibim-pup. The pups loved it, even eating a raw egg for the first time. But the chicken had a taste and smell as if it were starting to go bad. Only thing I would recommend is to have bigger cups or come around to fill drinks more often. My last review was over 4yrs ago and it remains the same. I love the brown ale and all the food you order is delicious and brought out promptly. Valet is $4 unless you can miraculously find street parking. There is often entertainment at night and it is dog friendly with a dog menu. I always get the pretzel. Today i also ordered the Japanese curry fries. Kim chee tops it-not spicy at all for those that are hesitant. I however, love spicy. Service is always on point. I have been coming to Aloha Beer Co since they opened and I relized after my last visit I've never written a review. I have seen Aloha Beer grow and become one of the best brewing companies on Oahu. The location is perfect in Kakaako on Queen Street and in the same walking area of a bunch of other pretty good breweries so no need to drive. If you are driving, they do have lots of available parking up the ramp. No reservations but dogs welcome. Service is always awesome and helpful if you have questions about the beers or menu. Just ask if you want to sample a beer. My go to is the Fruit Loopes IPA, refreshing anddelicious. The atmosphere and vibe on the patio is really chill and service is always pretty quick. Great beer and food, horrible service. We were overcharged $40 on our bill. After realizing we were overcharged, I went back the next day and the manager printed an itemized receipt, revealing FIVE beers that were incorrectly added to the bill. The manager said he could refund the $40 but could do nothing about the tip (20% or $8 tip). The managers solution was offering us "a couple free beers next time". Instead, we suggested he take off my $9.50 beer to make it even, to which he said, "the owner doesn't allow him to comp things off the bill and next time we should double check the bill before paying". I've visited Aloha Beer a few times and it's always a pleasant experience. Street parking is available about a block away but bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. Valet is required to park in the parking structure above the restaurant, which is $4 NOT including gratuity (so ~$10 parking if you're tipping). Not the best. They have lots of seating available, some inside, some outdoors (covered so rain-safe!). The outdoor seating has cute lights and dogs are also allowed. They have a smaller menu, however, and their portion size is pretty small. Pretty good selection of beers of course, and several cocktails as well. They have restrooms available inside the restaurant, which is always a plus for me. I would say customer service is average -- not horrible but not excellent either. read more

I ordered a flight of beer and I wasn't too big a fan of any of the ones I got which was a bummer. However the Pulled Pork Nachos are amazing! I love the fact that they fry their chips so they have that deeper flavor and more solid foundation for the heavy toppings on top. The texture of the chips was perfect. The pork was excellent, cheese sauce great, guac and sour cream; you really can't ask for anything better when it comes to nachos. We were only able to be there for 40 minuted due to our tour, which I feel they should know and take into consideration. Secondly we tried to order the samplers and were told they didn't have any left, in other words, not enough dishes. We instead had to order half pints of each beer to taste. We came in the other day and had an awesome experience. The vibe of the brewery was chill, staff was friendly, and the food and beer were tasty! We were stoked to try out their beers and ordered flights right off the bat. We had nearly every kind they had to offer, and there were a few standouts for us. (Aloha blonde was crisp and very easy to drink. Hop Lei IPA was full of flavors and easier to drink than other IPAs I've had before. Froot Lupes was heavier and fruity.) We ordered multiple flights, and worked up an appetite. We had the steak fries, the poke nachos, and a BBQ chicken pizza. All of the food was prepared well! Crispy fries, fresh ahi and toppings on the nachos, and the pizza was saucy and loaded with toppings. My dog growled at someone with a prosthetic leg once (he's never seen one) and they asked us to leave. His growl was so quiet, I didn't even hear him do it...the place is loud and outdoors. In addition, several other dogs had growled at that person's leg. I obviously corrected mine and apologized. I'm actually not someone who brings my dog places (it's weird). But the response was definitely odd, targeted at the only actual locals there, and I haven't been back. There's plenty of other beer places to support all over town. read more

The service was so unacceptable that my party didn't continue to wait for our food menu and left. We talked to the bartenders on the way in who told us open seating outside. I went to the restroom while the rest of my party went to find a seat. When I came out, my party hadnt receive menus. We waited while the servers served tables around us, looked over at us, made eye contact, and continued to ignore us so much that we thought we were missing a QR menu somewhere. We timed waiting from that point 15 minutes, others came in and were given menus, which was the tipping point for us. We then left hungry, unserved, and unsatisfied! Side note, they also had paid vallet parking. We were able to avoid it by finding street parking, but if we had used their parking lot, it would have been that much more of a slap in the face. My partner and I wanted to try this place since we heard that they were dog friendly, and even had a dog menu! I didn't realize how large this place was until I actually went inside. They have an inside eating area, outside eating area, brewing area, AND a merch store. It's unfortunate that we didn't get to try their beers, but their food tasted great! We ordered the chicharron, chorizo empanadas, and the fish and chips. We also ended up ordering the bibimpup and pupsicle for our doggo! First and foremost, the sauce the chicharron came with was very tasty. It went very well with the pork. The empanadas were also very good and fried to perfection. The amount of filling was a good portion to the pastry. Lastly, the fish and chips were also perfect. Normally, fish and chips come very oily, but these were not the case. The fries were crispy and soft, and the fish was surrounded with a crispy outing, but the fish was super flaky. Our pup also enjoyed his dishes as he demolished them in less than 5 minutes! Overall, service was very good. They even were so kind and kept checking if our dog was doing okay. We'll definitely be back again! read more
