Loved this place. I haven't been in Hawaii for two years. Just happened to see this place while driving by and tried it out. I had the Kailua Pork and was so ono! Not greasy at all. Rice and mac salad was good too. My mother had the Kailua quesadilla and she said her mango salsa was the best shes ever had. The atmosphere was perfect too. I just had lunch and oh my...love it. It's my third visit. This is a required stop when visiting my parents in Silverdale. Walking in the door, we were treated like family. This place has such amazing food! Very flavorful and great priced! The environment is relaxed and the staff are so kind. We used them to cater our engagement party we held at the park on a nice sunny day, it was great! Everyone loved the food and it was eaten up so fast. Food is inconsistent. When it's good it's great, but when it's bad, it's in edible. Kianna makes the experience amazing. Manager is apathetic when things are wrong. Still go in at least once a month. Khalua pork is wonderful. Fried rice is to die for. Sweet and sour ribs were so salty I couldn't eat them. read more

I found this great place while out with my son, he was having a bad day and bad attitude. We came in and were immediately greeted with that Aloha spirit, we ordered spam musibi, Huli Huli chicken, and kaluha pork. As soon as my 6 yo son took a bite out of his musibi his attitude changed and said " mom I forgot how good Hawaiian food is", his Huli Huli was the best he had and even said its better than his aunts in Hawaii. Well since this is my first review I should be kind, but I not. I'm a tough food critic, mainly because I was trained as a chef and Hawaiian regional cuisine is my specialty . As a Hawaii transplant to Kitsap county, I was surprised that their wasn't a Hawaiian Style Plate Lunch place on the peninsula, much to my delight I heard about Aloha Kitchen from my cousin. My wife and I often lament about the lack of local- kine food in the Seattle area, we've been to L&L and a handful of other spots; but none seem to match quality that we came to expect back in the islands. To satisfy my cravings for plate lunches I would often have to stop into the Teriyaki joints that litter the strip malls on the Kitsap Peninsula Scarred from a previous experience at a supposed "Hawaiian Plate" joint in East Bremerton, my expectations were high. My wife call me the harshest critic she knows when it comes to Hawaiian food, and I should since I once worked for Alan Wong. We arrived at Aloha Kitchen, the Wednesday after they first opened, for lunch, The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't the Aloha Kitchen I expected ( Aloha Kitchen is a chain in Las Vegas). Slightly disappointed but undeterred I eagerly anticipated the dining experience. We walked into the not so busy dining area and we promptly greeted and seated. My wife commented on the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant, mostly that the music was from the early 1990's, it was eerily similar plans that we had for our restaurant one day . She also noticed that the tables and chairs didn't match, and that our particular table wobbled slightly. Our server arrived about 5 minutes after we were seated (which was too long considering that there were 3 servers and only 6 occupied tables). And the first thing she tells us is whats not on the menu, proudly proclaiming that they been out of particular items since the day they opened. (Yikes!). What's worse is that our server had no knowledge of Hawaiian food, or even how to pronounce many of the items on the menu, a shame if you ask me, since many people I know have no knowledge of Hawaiian Cuisine or associate it with sweet and sour or teriyaki flavors. After giving our server a quick lesson on how to pronounce Lau-Lau and Luau and the difference between the two, my wife and I proceeded to order. Since lau-lau wasn't available (a Hawaiian standard, if i even suspect it's the pre-made frozen variety found in many Asian food stores, it goes back to the kitchen), and the server couldn't tell me if it was made fresh daily or imported, I opted for the Kalua pork plate. My wife ordered the bento plate, with grilled Mahi-Mahi, teriyaki chicken and Spam musubi. Now, we have a standard to which all Hawaiian Plate Lunches are measured, the quality of the mac salad, the portions, and quality of the kalua pork/ Lau-lau. Unfortunately our expectations fell short, the mac salad had egg (which I wished I had known beforehand, since I am allergic to eggs). The portions were small and actually I was put off by the fact they used the wrong cut of meat to make the kalau pork as it was dry and tasteless (it should have a savory/ smoky/ salty taste) . I was disappointed since it is a very simple dish that requires lots of time and patience to execute properly. My wife was equally disappointed, her teriyaki chicken was dry, the mahi was overcooked and sickly looking, and the Spam was tiny, like half a slice of Spam, cut paper thin. Whats worse is that my wifes dish didn't come with mac salad or tartar sauce for the mahi. The highlight of my experience was hearing my wife complain about how the food was plated. Classic! It was sad because all the food looked the same, in varying shades of brown and white. I think my wife almost cried in disappointment. Needless to say my experience wasn't a pleasant one, The wait staff was inexperienced and disorganized, once the food was delivered she never once come to check on us, and when she did I just wanted a check, which she couldn't find. I finally just went to the counter to pay for our meal, and when asked by the owner how the food was I didn't have to heart to say it sucked, in retrospect maybe I should have. Next time I have the urge to have Hawaiian food I'll do it from the comfort of my own home. Useless I'm on the road then I'll hit up my usual suspects in Federal Way (Pac-Island Grill), Everett (Bobby's), and Kauai Family in Seattle. read more

The restaurant was colorful and had a good atmosphere. We were greeted promptly and ordered our food for takeout. We ordered the sweet and sour short ribs, fried rice and spam masubi which total a $17 with tax. The food was enough for both my husband and I for lunch. This was our first time we had the sweet and sour short ribs. It was good and the portions were great for the price. The macaroni salad was good too. We were used to asian style fried rice so the island style was a little different for us but still good. My husband doesn't really like SPAM (horrors I know) but still liked the masubi. We did not even know about Aloha Kitchen in Silverdale, and saw it when we went to the bank. We were greeted by a lovely young lady. We were so pleased when we looked at the menu, as a number of our favorites are on it. We were not disappointed. The Mochiko chicken was sooooo good, as was the Kalua Pork, and the Guava cake was outrageously good, and fresh. I hope they can make it there. Needs more publicity. Yum, yum.... read more

We've been twice now, and the first time we were unamazed, and frankly didn't think we'd go back. My wife's from the islands and I lived there for several years, so we were homesick for some island food, so we thought we'd give it another try, and we were very glad we did. The time the owner waited on us, and he was as sincere and friendly as they come. An island boy, just exuded pure aloha. We ordered the Big Island platter, some Mochiko chicken, and a Teri beef...they were all perfect. Really, truly, cooked like it is back home. We realized that it was going to take time to improve and that's probably what happened - they seem to have gotten their groove and now it really does taste like the best food from back home. read more

There is nothing like authentic Hawaiian mac salad. As long as the Aloha Kitchen is in Silverdale, I will never buy mac salad at a grocery store. My family loves the ahi poke, lomi salmon, shoyu chicken, huli huli chicken, and kalua pork. The staff is always kind, but never "in your face." If we take time to ask questions or talk story, they will respond happily. On days when we are quiet, they leave us be. True Hawaiian attitude - friendly and hospitable. -1 star because on one recent trip they were out of the food my husband really wanted. read more

The good: Nice friendly staff. The bad: Food- Some items are ok. Most are "edible" and some are simply not. I say "edible" because when you pay $17 for a plate you try to eat what you can, otherwise I would have tossed pretty much everything. Price- As some others have stated, I don't know how I can spend less on Oahu to get more. I tried a couple plates and paid as much as I did in hopes it would be worth it. Definitely not. The food here is pretty good. Like most places in the area it's a bit overpriced. The selection is okay, I think I'm very American, and like over variety! I've been there twice now! The staff if very friendly, and extremely willing to give suggestions. I've sampled both the burger and fries, poke bowl, Monday's guava chicken! It was all really good. Especially the guava chicken. I had planned on giving it three stars because of the price. I decided however that I would give it four stars, because I have never been a fan of pasta salad before. The pasta salad at this location is amazing. I'm not sure what they use but they have definitely won me over. I will be excited to try this place again and hopefully I'll be more daring. I'm not a huge fan of spam, or really sweet entrées. There seems to be a lot of sugar in every dish, however the food that I have had there is very good. It's nothing really special on the inside, it's kind of a hole in the wall. But they're interesting things to look at on the walls. The bathroom is located right on the floor there's no hallway or anything. That's a little awkward, but I understand that it's using the space that they have. read more

This is a nice little restaurant in a strip mall that really has the taste of Hawaii, they even have Spam on the menu so you know it is legit! They serve up a classic Hawaiian Plate Lunch with your choice of meat along side scoops of rice and Hawaiian mac salad. The food is consistent but the mac salad can be a little bland at times. The service is great and the place is clean. Recommend the Shoyu Chicken! read more

If I could give this place a half star I would. Went here for dinner last night and my Hawaiian chicken was raw. The food looked good but when I bit into my chicken I noticed that the chicken was bright pink. Also my husbands food wasn't cooked all the way. As the other reviews state, we really needed a Hawaiian Style restaurant in Kitsap County. Since the one in Port Orchard closed years ago, all we've had were the Yobo teriyaki places. I ordered the hamburger steak plate and lau lau plates. When the food came I caught a wiff of liquid smoke, hmmm neither hamburger steak nor lau lau suppose to have liquid smoke in it. Wrong on my part, the lau lau was super dry, there was no fat to help moisten it, the pork was dry and it was only wrapped with a couple of luau leaves and it had liquid smoke in it. I'm not sure where they got their recipe from, got to be Tyler Florence from the Cooking Channel. The hamburger patties (2) were nice size, almost like mini meat loafs with grilled onions on top (I scored, I heard from others that the patties were small on their orders and never have onions) and gravy. It was alright, but the hamburger had a weird spice in it, and the texture was more like hot dog filling. The meat must have gone through a fine grinder. Another time I ordered the squid luau. It was alright, but the luau leaf needed to cook longer, it had a weird yellow tinge to it and the squid (which suppose to be octopus/he'e) was idako (mini octopus). If you want the Hawaii transplants in Kitsap County to support your restaurant, please, please, please take a look at your recipes. We need your restaurant to do well, we are all looking for ono local food. read more

tasty Hawaiian home cookin'! the kalua pork was excellent!

I saw that there was a closer Hawaiian restaurant near my home so my family and I tried their food tonight. Growing up in Hawaii I would say I know Hawaiian food very well and how it should be generally prepared or at least the presentation. With that being said, I am sad to say that this was our first and last experience here. I ordered the Hawaiian plate combo that came with LauLau, Kalua pig(pork)and cabbage, Huli Huli chicken, two scoops rice and Mac salad and Lomi Lomi salmon. I ordered my husband Huli Huli chicken and sweet and sour spade ribs(also came with Mac salad and rice). Both his and my Huli Huli chicken were dry as if it were prepared the day or so ago and just reheated. There was no moisture to it at all. Also, my LauLau was the saddest I've ever seen. It was extremely dry and had no seasoning at all. My Lomi salmon didn't look fresh at all. It looked like it had just been sitting out in the open. Pretty much the only good experience I had was the Mac salad and the man who took my order. He was very polite with me while I was there. P.S what kind of "Aloha Kitchen" doesn't have extra complimentary condiments for orders that are to go such as extra shoyu packets, teriyaki sauce or even a little sriracha sauce? read more

My husband and I were not impressed. We walked in and were unsure whether or not we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated so we waited at the front. After a few seconds, a server finally acknowledged us and came over to tell us to "sit wherever!" We should have left that very moment but I had wanted to try this place for a while so we chose a booth and sat down. The high chair we requested came covered in what looked like weeks of sticky food. I wouldn't sit in such a dirty chair so I certainly wasn't putting my toddler into it. I then went out to my car to grab our stroller. I suppose this didn't sit well with the group of staff and friends sitting towards the back that were staring at us with disgust. We had already ordered our food by this point so we just settled in and waited. I wish I could tell you that the food was worth all of the above but it was not. Everything tasted like mush, flavorless mush at that. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant and we will never be back. read more

Best authentic Hawaiian food you can find anywhere. I was actually disappointed when I went to Kauai because their Kahlua pork was not nearly as good as the Kahlua pork and cabbage served here. I finally went to this place because I was in the mood for some authentic Hawaiian food. This is by far the worst food I had. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. The kalua pig was too salty and the rice was mushy and also the macaroni salad wasn't fresh. It tasted like it was sitting in the refrigerator for 5 or more days! Ju4st plain gross! As I was eating I found a hair in my plate! I'd rather just get my own kalua at central market in Poulsbo, they have a Hawaiian section in their freezer and I usually just go uwajimaya in Seattle for Portuguese sausages. Upon moving back to Washington from San Diego, I was excited to hear that a Hawaiian restaurant opened up. Before, when I craved some Hawaiian fare I had to go to Seattle, so having the option to just drive 10 minutes from home seemed ideal. I went in wanting one thing; Chicken Katsu. I looked over their menu and did not see it on there. I figured I must have overlooked it so I asked the gal behind the counter if they have it. To my shock, she said no but that they did have something similar and that it was called Mochiko Chicken. It's boneless marinated chicken dusted with Asian rice flour and it came with macaroni salad and rice. I was not a fan. Maybe it was because it was nothing like Chicken Katsu which was what I was craving on that day or maybe it was because it was dry and needed some kind of sauce (probably both to be honest) but it just did not appeal to my liking. I came here one other time and got the Kalua Nachos. It was pretty good but I doubt i'd order it again. Something about the mango salsa...Anyways, it's a good space inside and I guess they have events there sometimes which is cool. They also sell some Hawaiian products near the register like Lihing Powder which is awesome. read more
