we have been here several times and yes we have been to L and L, LOL we have been to authentic POLY BBQs and we know goo island food. we had my kids birthday dinner here and it was good! fri nights they have llive music! and now the food, food is good compared to the other island food place in the area, wished Spam Musubi was full sized, sweat and sour spare ribs and short ribs are my favorite1 now the people, servers and owners are great, they make sure you are enjoying yourselves and and enjoying the food! read more

Once upon a time I would have agreed with the many positive reviews you'll find on Yelp even to this day. But now I feel like Aloha Kitchen has lost its way. From their original location in that strip mall area on the corner of Myhre and Silverdale Way to their current location in Ross Plaza, they were my go-to destination at least every couple of months to satisfy my Hamburger Steak and Mac Salad cravings, which was what I ordered every single time (not that it was always consistently delicious but it usually hit the spot as long as I kept my expectations in check). Unfortunately the last few times had me thinking each time that maybe I must have come on an "off" day and had me hoping the next time would be better. So I kept returning. Well, sorry to report that tonight's dinner finally extinguished any possibility of continuing hope. My Hamburger Steak meal was a woefully inadequate and gristly single patty with not enough gravy instead of the two decent size patties smothered in gravy I've come to expect based on all my previous experiences with this restaurant for this particular menu item. The two scoops of white rice were super dry, hard in spots, and chalky tasting, as if uncooked or something. And the Mac Salad...AUWE!...an unappetizing mess of undercooked noodles and coagulated mayonnaise that looked more greasy than creamy and maybe left out and uncovered for way too long. My better half had the Fried Rice breakfast as usual, and it suffered from the same quality issues as my white rice -- dry, chalky, flavorless. Our server, while seemingly nice enough, never did check on us after the initial order, only coming back to our table to bring our bill and offer a box for the 90% uneaten Fried Rice. So we went ahead and boxed up the rice just to be gracious about it, but it went straight to the trash when we got home. As I re-read (with some incredulity but no disrespect) those 4 and 5 star reviews, all I can figure is, your mileage may vary. But for this born and raised kamaaina, sadly, it's aloha oe to Aloha Kitchen. read more

I have been here three times in the past year and have never been disappointed! They have friendly service and the food is great! The first time I ordered the Kalua Nachos. I love the homemade chips and mango salsa! The past two times I have ordered the Mochiko Chiken. Super good! You get quite a bit of chicken plus it comes with two scoopes of rice and a scoop of macaronni salad. I always have left overs. The Pass O Guava juice and guava cake are also delish! Our family loves this restaurant. After going to one of their music nights, we now consider ourselves regulars. The music was so great I would have paid a cover price to see them. I did not like the taste of the food or better yet to say the lack of taste; I had the Pork Lau Lau plate. I have been to Hawaii multiple times and I asked if the taste was similar to the pork service in the Island, there response was yes but not at all. Nothing to compare to. read more

Started with the poke appetizer...fresh big chunks of ahi...excellent and a good portion too! Ordered the saimin as the main course and wow...one of the best I've had! It included pieces of spam, pork and best of all beef...heavenly! Was also offered a side of spicy mustard, a must for those who like a little spice! I think the service here is great, lots of aloha. The food may not be perfect but it's wonderful that they have this type of restaurant near by. I tried out Kelvin G Tropical Blast restaurant in Bremerton and compared it to this place...and this place is so much nicer and cleaner. The wife and I had spent nearly four years living in Hawaii and found a great place called the Koa Kitchen, it quickly became a favorite of ours. How excited we were when we found the Aloha Kitchen here in Silverdale. And just like before the Aloha Kitchen quickly became a favorite. We visit a least once a week and highly recommend it to others. Great food, ample servings, reasonable prices, and a friendly warm staff. Naturally, when we heard that the 'Da Kitchen' was planning a special Valentines dinner we just had to have our reservations. Valentines dinner was delicious! The service was truely a family affair and we were made to feel at home. This was 'Da Kitchen's" first special event. The wife and I hope to look back 25 Valentines from now and be able to make the claim we never missed a single one. read more

Being a Hawaiian transplant to the Silverdale area I was pleasantly surprised and excited as well when I saw that a new Hawaiian style cooking restaurant opened here in Silverdale. I watched anxiously for the Grand Opening. I believe that I was one of the first 10 customers that just had to try some local kine food. The owner Lori-ann I believe her name is greeted me and my wife and we talked story about the islands for a good 10 minutes. You don't see that at any restaurant around here. The eye catching mural that spans 20-25 ft along one wall made me feel like I was eating a plate lunch right on the beach. The artist spent the extra time to ensure that the sand was still wet in areas from a receding wave and that the palm tree had cut marks from a hungry locals machete that climed up to retrieve a coconut. Simply said "Amazing work". The rest of the place was decorated using colors that represent the islands. The time and effort to create such a warm atmosphere just filled my heart with the aloha spirit. By now my mouth was watering in anticipation of some great food. My waitress was courteous and was a Washington native. Unlike some of the other posts that were upset about the lack of knowledge demonstrated by the wait staff I was honored to help and share the Hawaiian culture with her, as she had never experienced going to the islands. She was just thrilled that in this economy that she was fortunate enough to have a job. Times are tough and to try and start a business these days it's hard so let's help out a local girl done well. After studying the menu which was very reasonable priced I ordered kalua pork with cabbage and my wife had spam musubi and huli huli chicken. I then decided to add a plate of mochiko chicken as well. To my surprise the order was ready in no time at all. The food was ono. Just like home. Things that I learned from talking to Lori are that all the recipes they use she learned from her mom while helping her cook for a large family. On my second visit she immediately recognized me from the opening day and asked how the experience was. I provided her with some constructive feed back that she graciously accepted, but I told her that there is no need to change anything. This is a family owned restaurant not a chain that uses prepared foods. After observing and talking to the cooks in the back (only one Hawaiian in the bunch) I noticed that they had never had the opportunity to cook our kind of food until Aunty Lori trained them. Each cook is required to taste the food that he/she is tasked to create. They all love working for Lori and have learned so much they said. The staff is overflowing with aloha spirit. In my honest opinion I believe that the Aloha Kitchen in Silverdale will continue to be a local favorite. After reading the previous posts I am embarrassed at how the other local Hawaiian Families are treating one of our own. Lori and her family are taking a big risk opening a restaurant in these times. Some say negative things about the place, which doesn't set right with me. They are trying hard to share the great food and aloha spirit of Hawaii here in Silverdale and you bash them like that. Why not support them and privately provide feedback to Lori so they can improve the process. With 20 degree weather out side I like to go down and enjoy the beach at the Aloha Kitchen with a plate lunch or ahi poke and a beer. So lets join together and support our home girl in her venture to spread the aloha spirit with the community. Anyone that posts negative things and states that when they have a restaurant they well do this and that is an ignorant ass and one should ask when and where is his restaurant? So in closing I will still frequent and support our girl Lori and her family. Keep up the good work. read more

I have eaten here several times. Each time food was good. I thought maybe they could cater an upcoming event I have planned!? So I went to the website and filled out the catering contact information with all of the upcoming events information. I waited 3 days and never heard back from them. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking surely they will get back to me. I decided to call them the fourth day after I gave them my information. I was put in touch with the owner. Her and I talked about budget, and then she quickly told me she would send me an email with come catering options. So she took all of my contact information and told me she would get the info to me. It has now been over a week since I have heard tried contacting them and still nothing. What this says to me is that my event is not important to them. Maybe I wasn't willing to spend as much money as they want, who knows. All I can say is that it is unprofessional. Needless to say if I were to hear back from them I wouldn't be the least bit interested in trusting them to do the catering from me. I wouldn't feel like I could rely on them after the lack of communication. read more

had a good time at the resturant, food was very good and tasty. i had the rice and chicken for lunch. the staff was excellent in every way possible. now, for a small community it was a great lunch and excellent surroundings. would eat here again and bring my family to eat hear . i live in las vegas and will tell all my friends to stop here when in town. read more
