Surprisingly enough if there was parking out front, even though parking is quite limited. The owner Mrs. Kim is the sweetest nicest kindest woman. On the day that I visited she was the only one working so she was the only one taking your order cooking prepping your food as well as serving and cleaning up. She is absolutely incredible and such a gracious host and owner. This is a spot to go, especially if you're in the area need something quick or in fact when I arrive there happen to be a group of people hanging out and having a regular meeting discussion on premise while enjoying her food. I usually stop here before work for my breakfast musubi. Today, I got a breakfast plate, and it did not disappoint. The lady at the counter is always so sweet and welcoming. It's nice to see such a friendly face in the mornings. I recommend getting there before 0730 if you want more breakfast options. I haven't tried sitting down to eat there since I always take it to go, but from what I've seen, it is never super busy inside. It's probably a good spot to have a quiet breakfast. read more

What I like about Aloha Pantry and Sushi is that they cater to early morning risers. Conveniently open six days a week at 5am. Individuals can get their on-the-go food. Freshly made breakfast bento's that are cheap with a good size portion, ice cold drinks, and if there's extra time get their poke bowls. Inside is nice and clean with a couple of seats to dine in. Restrooms are able only if you are dining in. Just ask the uncle or aunty behind the counter. This place is such a nice modest pantry with the sweetest lady who runs the place. I got the spicy ahi bowl with natto and it's probably the most flavorful bowl I've had. She does run the place on her own so you do have to be patient when she makes it. read more

It took me a while to learn the name of the Poke Bowl my coworkers order and I love. FYI....its not the spicy Ahi as seen in one of the picture menus at $16. However after many repeated trips and after much trial and error and lots of pointing to pictures, the lady behind the register and I have come to a mutual understanding of what I want when I come in. The "Spicy Poke Bowl" EXTRA spicy...Please! $12 Karma is a bitch and all of the people I made fun of for not pronouncing Spanish words right...I'm sorry! Disgusting Boba. Don't go here. I've been buying watermelon bobas for months at various tea places. I noticed Aloha Pantry had a sign for boba so stopped in. No one was at the counter, wait for 2 minutes then called out if anyone was there and a guy came out. I asked for a watermelon and I clarified if he used real watermelon he said yes. He got ice from the soda fountain machine. He emerged with a strange pink looking drink. I took a sip and it taste grossly like bubblegum; extremely sweet. I can't even drink this garbage. I have always passed by Aloha Pantry and Sushi on the way to and from work. It is right on the corner of Ahua and Pukoloa next to L&L BBQ. Finally my curiousity brought me into this tiny sushi and bento shop after work last week. I would always see the OPEN sign at 6:30 in the morning and wonder why a restaurant would be open so early. The lady there told me that they open on weekdays at 4am (although the food is not ready until 4:30) and close at 6pm. On Saturday they open at 5am and close at 3pm. Sunday they are closed. It seems like they cater their hours to the warehouse workers in the area. It is a great lunch spot if you work nearby. She said that you can call in an order before hand and have your bento all ready for you when you pick it up. I ordered 4 rolls. I got a salmon roll, California roll, spicy ahi roll, and a beef roll. I was intrigued by the beef sushi so I had to order that one. My favorite was actually the California roll. It had mayo that made the roll extra rich. These rolls were all a little over $2 making my total close to $10. I felt that the rolls had too much rice. After I devoured my 4 rolls, I knocked out and slept until the next day. I literally slept for 12 hours straight. Granted I was physically tired, but all that rice didn't help me stay awake one bit. Next time I might try one of their bento plates, which cost $11. Slightly on the pricey side in my opinion. Convenient location for some quick rolls if you are already in the Moanaloa Gardens / Fort Shafter / Airport / Salt Lake area. **Edit: I went a second time and tried some more of their rolls. The crab roll is similar to the California roll, just without the avocado. The chicken roll was actually really good. It came with a little mayo as well as the already flavored teri chicken. I love that they use mayo a lot in the rolls. **Breaking news! I asked if they gave military discount and she said she would start giving one from now on. So ask her for a military discount and she will give you 10% off! That bumps this review from 3 stars to 4 stars. So military guys and gals, thank me for your military discount! Haha. read more

Me and my mom were in the area after doing some shopping at Ben's franklin so we were craving sushi and found this place. We arrived at aloha pantry and sushi around 3:00 p.m. Looking at the menu it looks really similar to aloha sushi and ahi and vegetable. We were greeted by a friendly woman. My mom got the crab handrolls and i got ahi handrolls with wasabi. Service was good, waited about less than 15 minutes. When the food was ready i was caught off guard with plastic gloves but was told that i'll need them when i start consuming. The handrolls were huge and good. But they kept falling apart when i started eating and it was really messy so i had to use the gloves. My order was wrong and was given spicy ahi instead of regular ahi but i'll let it slide since i already left the store. I also forgot to mention i also got gyoza and chowfun. The gyoza was standard and the chowfun was really good. If i'm ever in the area i'll give them another chance. Good luck! read more

Cashier lady was nice, but the food wasn't that great. I bought a musubi that was made from old rice and a piece of chicken that was probably deep fried in some really old oil. I don't write reviews too often but I decided that for this place, I would have to. I recently started working in the area and one day my co-worker came into the office with a Portuguese sausage egg n' rice roll. My first reaction was, "abomination!" But day after day they continued to purchase the same roll. Finally, curiosity got the best of me and I tried it. Oh. My. Goodness. Maybe it's because I'm Portuguese, maybe it's because I'm also mixed Japanese, maybe it's just because I'm all kine mixed up, but that roll was sooo ono. We happened upon this place searching for a gas station near HNL. Big bright pictures to choose your sushi. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Got there early afternoon and found no wait. Don't expect a restaurant with table service. They use a lot of rice as filler inside the rolls (rainbow, volcano, California). Probably won't return but we are glad we went. The lady that helped us was really nice. We ate here while we're waiting for our car. We bought spicy ahi nigiri, spicy ahi roll, avocado maki and spicy ahi maki. They serve a big portion of their food and it's fresh. I think she did more than what a worker should do. My son bought a hotdog musubi. Instead of letting my son wait, she told him to sit down eat his food and she'll bring his change to him. She also treated my son like her own because she put a napkin as a placemat for my son's food. All in all, we love our experience. The man and lady was really nice. It's a small little hole in the wall eating location in Mapunpuna right next to L&L and it's amazing!!! It's owned by a sweet older Korean lady and her husband and there food is all home made. They make a smoke meat and a Kailua pig and cabbage plate and it's the best I've had on the island. They treat you so well and are very generous with their portions. If your ever in town it's worth the small deviation in your trip to come and grab a plate from them!! read more
