We went for a late lunch and I was so looking forward to Greek food again because it had been probably 10 years since I had eaten any. I ordered the Lemon Chicken Rice soup.... It was gross... it was like Lemon Chicken Oatmeal... there was no "soup" to it, it was thick and congealed. It had no flavor whatsoever. Took 2 bites... yuck done... my husband ordered gyro something and everything was in large pieces and he said it didn't matter... he was just going to pick at it... on the bright side my 6 yr old granddaughter liked the tenders and fries. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE OWNER WAIT STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. They were short 3 servers, (half their staff) the three that were there, were busting their assess. No busser so they could not even get tables cleaned. The staff made the correct call to shut down due to the inability to provide decent, safe service. Owner came in (under the influence) and opens the place back up. He is stumbling around and getting in the way. Our waitress quits on the spot, but after she politely finished with us. Owner then proceeds to "help" with orders, plating food with his bare hands. No wonder no one wants to work there. Would love to support the staff, but it will have to be somewhere else. read more

Went here today with my autistic son. Manager was rude. While I tried to calm my son manager came to the table several times in a 10 minute span and aggravated the situation. The last time he came was to say he had to comp a $20 meal because of my son and asked us to leave. When we were leaving my mom stated she would not go back. The managers reply to this was "good". There were maybe 5 tables in use during our visit. I'm sure my three year old is not the only toddler to have a fit in this restaurant. Manager made 5 appearances at our table before our drink order was taken. Horrible customer service. P.s. I am aware it is unwanted for a toddler to have a fit in a restaurant. However, I am aware it happens (not just to me). Parents have enough stress without this kind of treatment. read more

WORST Coney Dog I have ever had , HORRIBLE 1st off not a natural casing hot dog honestly thing they were a generic hot they were cold, I pulled the hot dog out of the bun and it didn't look like it had been cooked coneys are cooked on a flat top this showed no signs of being cooked, the chili was no where close to true coney chili and the bun was stale ! The service was just ok the waitress never brought water to us and asked us if we wanted a refill on pop after we were done eating, the girl said you only ate a couple bites of your coney I got 2 and I told her they were horrible she said I'm sorry to hear that, never asked if I wanted them replaced and didn't take them off the bill!! Best breakfast place in Adrian! Generous portions. I had 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and for toast you could get choice of cinnamon danish, pancake or toast. Only 5.99. Food was cooked to perfection and waitress couldn't of been nicer. Place was packed but they still placed seating to Covid Standards and lots of cleaning and sanitation as we watched before we got seated. This is definitely our new go to place for breakfast. I would have to say that this place was o-k. The salad was really good but they put old gyro meat on my salad...not acceptable.It messed up my entire experience. My friend ordered a gyro and she said that she enjoyed it. We ordered a chicken Philly for another co worker and he said that it was okay at best. Hey Foodies, relax it's a Koney Island in Adrian, not a downtown Chicago fusion restaurant. For years I avoided this place, thinking they were cast from the same mold as Big Boy et al. My father in law eventually got me to try it out and boy was I wrong. I've been back close to 10 times or more. The breakfasts are fan-freaking-tastic. The fattier dinners are good too, i.e. the chicken fried steak. My 2 year old daughter got me started on their hot dogs and they are pretty darn good too. [When was the last time you had a hot dog? Try one.] Bottom line. It's a Koney Island. A good one. 2015 UPDATE: My all-time favorite dish is the Maple City Skillet. It isn't on the menu, but if you ask for the Maple City Omelet, done as a Skillet they'll hook you up. Just be sure to go to the gym that day. And the other day I saw the sign outside said something about the 'comfort food menu' being back. I had a good laugh. read more

We didn't really feel this place at all. Really cramped space. Small booths. Wait staff wasn't rude but wasn't particularly friendly or attentive either. We tried the 1/3 pound burger and fries. Burger was probably the best thing we had, though it was nowhere near 1/3 pound, not even a 1/4 really. I didn't think I could find a bad order of steak fries, but I did. Also tried the fried chicken, which came without a breast, so we weren't feeling that. It wasn't bad until we got closer to the bone and it was cold and we bit into a weird blood clot, causing us to lose our appetites entirely. Also tried the gyro. Meat was undercooked and cold. All the inner goodness was glopped carelessly on one side. To top it off, we tried the Coney dog because we were at a Coney Island so we always try a dog. This was maybe the worst one ever. Barely any chili, onions were overly abundant, bun was soggy, the dog itself lacked flavor, character, everything. Just a bad dog. Maybe the worst Coney Island we've ever been to anywhere. Just nothing really impressive about it. The water was good. Ice cubes kept the water cold. Yum. read more

I've eaten here a few times now and for being a Koney Island, I don't expect anything special. However, this place is definitely one of the better chains I've been to. I've gotten a variety of food now - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - and so far, I've liked nearly everything. I think there was only one dish I got that was very so-so for me. Everything else has been pretty good or delicious. The service here is super friendly. Everybody has always been very fun and nice. They are at times a little slower getting food to us but I definitely think their really friendly demeanor has always made up for it. And fortunately, every time I've gotten my meal after waiting a while, it's always been piping hot and really fresh. There isn't much to the restaurant. It's not really decorative - just pretty simple. I feel like it doesn't need much though. I'll continue coming here and definitely, for as cheap as the food is, I think it's worth it. read more

For Adrian area selections--I give this restaurant 4 stars. If I were to compare it to Ann Arbor restaurants (50 minutes away), I'd give it 2-3 stars; because of its generally bland, no frills, ma and pop kinda standards, Alpha cannot compare to restaurants with a more diverse menu and with fun, flavorful, exotic dishes and a warm, inviting, tasteful decor and ambiance. For Adrian residents, Alpha may be considered a "beloved tradition" or a "necessary staple" for good, simple food and nice, humble wait staff. The food is as expected--nothing more or less. I don't ever get excited to eat there--yet I wouldn't generally turn it down if a friend suggested it. Anyone can find something on the menu to order and be satisfied with. However, there's not much about Alpha Coney Island that differentiates it from other surrounding "country kitchen" style restaurants and menus. On the other hand, Alpha's drive-through option may be exceptionally ideal for good, healthier food on-the-go. I don't anticipate the menu ever changing; however, if only the decor could be altered to a more warm atmosphere instead of feeling like a cold, old small town deli shop, I'd go more frequently to dine with good friends and family. read more

The food is delicious. They are quick and you will always get good service. I didn't say great because they are swamped and it is a rotating door all day. Hard to expect much more than good service when the waitresses are running full speed. The food though, always great, never disappoints. I recommend everything. Everything except the hunter club. I do not know what that thing is because it isn't good, but that is rare to hear coming out of the Alpha kitchen. In town for a meeting? Just driving through? We've been stopping in at the Alpha Koney Island for several years, coinciding with doctor's appointments (semi-annual and annual) in Adrian. We love the place--if we are there in time for the early morning breakfast special, that's what we get--two eggs, hash browns, toast, and choice of bacon, ham or sausage, for just under $4. But if it is a little closer to lunch time, I get the Athena Greek Salad, and boy, do I look forward to that. I like it so well I don't even bother to look at the menu. As far as the servers, we have developed a wonderful rapport with one of the girls, and have always been treated with courtesy and friendliness by all the others. Sometimes it's very, very busy, with patrons waiting in line, and other times, only a few booths are taken, which I would consider the normal ebb and flow of a restaurant. We've never been disappointed in the service, 'our' choice of the food or the prices. read more

My favorite place for breakfast in town, the coffee is never empty and the potions are great. Waitstaff for the most part is great, only one waitress I've ever had there was terrible, and we just make sure we don't sit in her section. Not much of a fan of their dinners, but regularly stop with my son for coney's and chili cheese fries. It's no Lafayette, but around here it does the trick. Also pluses for drive through convenience. The decor is pretty dated and the air filtration could be better( I always smell like an onion ring when I leave), also very limited seating so during busy times it may be hard to get a seat. read more

This is the best restaurant in Lenawee County. I've never had a bad meal here. In fact they've all been pretty great. Favorites include: The crispy chicken club wrap, the greek chicken salad (the dressing is amazing!), and the lil' abner. This place is ALWAYS busy...so that alone tells you how great it is. They have a couple of great waitresses, service is always prompt and pleasant. Again, this is my favorite place to eat in Lenawee County... great variety of food, breakfast all day long, try the greek dressing! Try it! Also..the owners of this place have huge hearts. Every year for Thanksgiving they serve free meals to whoever comes in. Great for the community! read more

Ordered fish and chips and you could tell the fries were old and they were cold. The fish was old and looked like it came out of a box from Walmart. Even the water taste bad. The waitresses were very nice but the food is horrible, definitely will not go back. read more
