Visiting some family in the Greenville area, we were just looking for a quick local lunch place that serves simple favorites like burgers and hot dogs. We found this place near by, and this is definitely the definition of a local dive. I mean that in a good way though, they're serving their community with good food at a good price. It won't blow you away, but you definitely are going to be happy with what you got. We did take out, a couple people ordered hot dogs, there was one bacon cheeseburger, and one club sandwich. Sides ranged from fries, onion rings, and fried okra. One thing I will definitely say, that was some DELICIOUS fried okra. Dip that in a little ranch dressing? For the win. The hot dogs were good, not great. I get spoiled by some truly remarkable hot dogs back home with buttered and grilled buns, so anything less than that will be hard to win. The chili was good, apparently in SC, a loaded hot dog is chili, mustard, onions. When I asked to add cole slaw (all the way in NC) the guy looked at me puzzled and said "... you want it like... on top?" Yes. Yes i do. I can't be the very first person to ask for that. Anyway. It's not much to look at, but it's the epitome of a locally owned business that will fill your belly if you just don't feel like cooking, but also don't want to be fancy. We'd go back. read more

Alpha has become our go-to for quick takeout in the neighborhood. The food is always fresh and made to order. The staff is nice and personable whenever we visit. Most importantly, the food is consistently good. My favorite is definitely the chicken Philly and burgers. Shoutout to the chopped Cole slaw that's delicious. Don't let the outside deceive you, this is one of the best neighborhood restaurants IMO. Service is fast and they are super friendly and accommodating. You feel welcome and they remember you!!! (Something I find missing around GVL - most restaurants don't seem to connect with patrons just take orders and deliver food. Did they never watch "Cheers"?) I really enjoyed this place. I'd been passing by it quite a few times before trying it. Honestly, it was the sign outside that said "Cheeseburger Okra plate with Tea $8.45" that got me. So that's what I got! The service was great and the people were really happy, kind, and helpful. They were out of unsweetened tea, so I had to get sweet tea. The ambience was great for a small diner style place. It looks like locals and blue collar workers frequent the place, so that's always a good sign in my book. It was pretty clean and looked fairly new as a building. The burger was delicious! Black pepper taste in the patty, with just the right amount of cheese, and the buns were grilled on the inside to a perfect crunch. The okra was very fresh and hot from the fryer. I asked for some hot sauce, as I'm a big fan of spiciness and heard they had a house sauce, so I got that. It's more like a salsa, which makes sense for a more Greek leaning restaurant, and it wasn't too spicy. Just a small kick, although it was delicious. I would definitely recommend going. I give it 5 stars because it is what it says it's going to be, and does it very well! read more

I just adore Alpha. The food is never a disappointment and when I want a great hot dog, hamburger plate or just a grilled cheese, they are absolutely my neighborhood GO TO!!! The tea is amazing and they now sell it by the gallon so why would I ever need to make it myself again?? I can think of no good reason!!! We noticed eating there recently the steak finger plate is not the same it's a small basket on wax paper. It came with smaller fries not steak fries. The fingers were overcooked and did not seem house made the batter was different. They did not come with house made bbq sauce they ask for choice of dipping sauce (salad dressings). They came with small slider buns instead of regular sized buns. We asked for salad instead of slaw and all fries no onion rings we got all fries no salad. The ownership has changed it seems they now offer breakfast and tacos. We do not see the change as improvement will be going elsewhere for steak finger plates. read more

Just found out this has a drive through so that helped me. Food is great and service is wonderful. Had tacos that were really good, their fish sandwich is incredible. I hope to continue stopping there regularly. read more

Had their "Famous Steak Sandwich" delivered. I'm not joking when I say the slice of what they call steak is about the size of one thick cut deli meat with a regular bun and a tomato larger than the meat itself. That should be false advertising.
