I do love this place, everytime I come here I'm never disappointed in their food. I've had their rolled tacos, tamales, enchiladas, tacos, breakfast burritos, normal burritos lol and all of them have been good. I don't recall ever being disapoined once. The place is a decent size and their restroom is very clean! The tables are always clean too and I've seen them clean them after people leave, including the outside ones! Oh and they have a nice little patio for outdoor seating and the tables have umbrellas. Now the customer service is a hit and miss and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. If it weren't for the rude cashiers from time to time it would be a different story. It's not too often but when it happens they are just flat out rude and for no apparent reason at all. Let me preface this by saying The food is good. we've been going twice a week for about 6 months. but they either hired someone new to take orders, or we've had some bad luck. The lady that has taken our order the past few times has gotten it wrong, and proceeds to lecture US for the error. even on one mistake in the ordering, we offered to pay for the correct order as well, because she got pretty upset. We do like the lady that wears the glasses, she's sweet and knew our order before we even had to say it. But the other lady made us feel like idiots because she got it wrong. I was alil disappointed bc a friend told me this place was great. I had lived in alpine so i love the community. on my way home from camping we tried it. Chicken taco, California burrito and a carne asada burrito. My chicken taco had like peppers or something in it, i was not expecting it, was ok. Dont order it for a child if they dont like anything else besides chicken. My bf is picky so he didnt care too much for his carne burrito. my cali burrito, i am not a picky eater, was sad that the burrito was cold bc they add sour cream and guac and my cheese was not melted. The meat was yummy. Rice is diff but good and good beans. Horchata was good. Def give this place a try still. I would go again but try something else or change my burrito read more

The food is decent but the service was terrible. As we walked in we were in a great mood, we ordered to go and left feeling terrible. The lady up front was being super rude to another customer before taking our order. Then was being rude to a delivery guy just giving her the receipt of what he dropped off at the restaurant. The lady working the front had a very mean tone and acted like my sister was dumb when all she asked for was a chicken and cheese quesadilla with nothing else on it. We paid a good price for this food and we were treated terrible and witnessed multiple customers being treated badly as well. We just paid $16.16 for 2 burritos with only 4 ingredients each (w/ beans instead of potato), and they taste like mushy crap! Never again! They basically rang it in to be as expensive as possible and then gave us inedible rolls of mush! It's really hard to mess up a burrito with egg, cheese, potato, and pico but good job guys! My husband and I ordered rolled tacos, a carne asada burrito and chicken enchiladas. There was hardly any meat in the carne asada burrito and it lacked flavor, the chicken enchilada's tasted like they came from a can and had two pieces of chicken bone bits, the rolled tacos did not have normal taco meat, it was instead ground and lacked flavor and were topped with watery american guacamole, shredded lettuce (even though we ordered with no lettuce), and some cheddar cheese (no cotija). Once again, I find that I am more than pleased with my purchase. Today found me buying the Breakfast Burrito on my way to a MTB training mission on Mt. Laguna. At The Alpine Taco Shop the Breakfast Burrito means eggs, beans and cheese. Most shops offer some sort of version of the "classic american breakfast" plate jammed into a tortilla. This was the real deal! The tortilla was clearly fresh and set the tone for the rest of the ingredients. The price was more than fair and the service was stellar as always! Get to the Alpine Taco shop as soon as you can and ...try anything! It WILL be great! read more

I get food from here fairly often. I switch around on what I order but getting a carne asada burrito I always add guacamole because otherwise it's just meat and some cheese. Roughly half the time they don't put the guacamole on. I finally called to let them know and got poor response. Whoever answered just said we check all our food for the order yet here I am again with just the plain meat and cheese with no guacamole but at least this time I got a denial to go with it. I've sometimes ordered the taco salad with guacamole, most of the time it does have the guacamole. They never forget to charge for the guacamole. read more

They forgot the most expensive thing we ordered, the fajitas plate and the flour tortillas. When we called to tell them she wouldn't believe us and argued that she had bagged up our order and knew it was all there. She wanted to see the order so had to bag everything up and drive back. She put the original order back in the same bag, put in the missing fajitas and tortillas in another bag and by the time our grandson came back home the food was cold. We will never return-customer service is not their strong point. We have been going there for years and even took out of state visitors to eat there but that won't happen again. I had been working in the yard and wanted something light so that I could keep up the good work : ) I asked for Ceviche, which the do not serve but she suggested the Campechana instead. WOOOW! First night we went here food was good. Tacos were crunchy and filled with fresh fillings and tasty meat. Salsa was my kind of salsa-filled with diced white onions and cilantro and seasonings. They close at 9 pm and we were there about 8:30 pm and I was impressed with the food and service especially being so close to closing time A few nights later we returned a bit earlier than before-about 8 pm or so. This time I'm sorry to say, our food was terrible. My husband's burrito was cold and tasteless. He never complains about his food, but he was disappointed with his cold burrito. My cheese enchiladas were also cold and very tasteless and mushy Bean tostada was a little better- at least it had some crisp to it. Unfortunately this time the salsa was terrible- it was the consistency of water No flavor. And I used to buy this salsa to go to take home. There's no good excuse for serving watered down salsa.There were customers coming and going but the kitchen wasn't slammed. I didn't bring my food back to complain because I just wasn't in the mood to make a fuss. I think some places rely on that attitude to be able to serve less than standard quality. I understand about Covid and associated issues, but I paid full price for bad food I don't think it's unreasonable to want your food to taste good To be fair, I will try this place again after awhile because of my past tasty meals The several times we were here before I enjoyed the food.
