The service was good and it is just like your typical neighborhood pizzeria inside. As for the pizza I feel that it was missing something in the sauce. It had almost no flavor. Maybe it needs basil, garlic or a little sugar. It was rather bland in my opinion. I don't say that lightly because I eat pizza everywhere I go and i have had over 150 slices from well over 100 different places in two years. I was a bit nervous to try Al's based on the other reviews but I'm really glad I gave them a shot! I got the chicken parm pizza and it was fantastic- super flavorful, ingredients were fresh and the crust was perfect! Service for a call in order was great - it was a bit noisy in my background when I called (and couldn't avoid) but the girl who answered and took my order was super patient and very polite about it. Pizza was hot and ready when I arrived - I will agree with other reviewers that it is quite expensive, but with their half off promo, it was a really good deal. Great service and great food! They have a special appetizer for this week celebrating their 40year Anniversary it is this huge meatball with marinara sauce and and nice serving of ricotta cheese. We ordered a fried chicken salad which was a delicious large salad full of yummy veggies and topped with fried chicken strips, so good and really enough for two people. Veggie Pizza was amazing, it had onion, broccoli, bell pepper, tomatoes and a delicious cheese, so very good! We typically visit the Neptune beach location, but stopped by the ponte vedra location this visit. They were slammed with togo orders and the after we got there almost every booth was filled. We cannot speak highly enough of the staff, especially CJ our server!! He was running his butt off, we never had an empty drink and our order came out perfect and hot. We haven't' been to this Al's Pizza in years. Today we had a hankering for pizza so we visited during the slow hours of the day (around 5 PM ish). We ordered a 14" meat pizza, and it came out very good. Very flavorful, fresh, and hot, We had their house wine in a Merlot (just ok, but for $6.00 hard to beat). Caroline the server was great. Our only complaint was we were sitting by the windows and the window seals were filthy with crumbs, dust and hair, hard to look at (so we didn't) - other areas seemed clean. Ordered to go pizzas. 2 large pepperoni and extra cheese for the grounds crew at work. I also grabbed a slice of meats, a slice of deluxe and a slice of pepperoni. The meats slice was excellent. Crispy crust, tons of toppings. My 3 yr old granddaughter said her pepperoni slice was delicious. My daughter liked the deluxe but the black olives were too overwhelming and had to pick some off. I can't speak for the large pizzas, but if they were anything like our slices, they were probably delicious! Highly recommend and will be ordering again. Als has been a staple growing up in this town. This is by far my favorite location. I make sure to come by everytime I'm in town. I always get the zucchini fries which are my favorite ever and you have to get them with ranch. Service is ehh, but they tend to roll through staff pretty quickly. Food is never the same if you get it Togo. I highly recommend eating it in the restaurant. The total for 2 slices of cheese and an order of zucchini fries was $17. read more

I really wanted to like the meatball parm sub. It was OK. Nothing too special. For $12.00 I was expecting more flavor of the meat and sauce. The cheese did not hold up well to go. Might be better to eat it there. I remember when Al's first opened in Jax it was a big deal. Was it better back then? I seem to remember that it was. Businesses don't last forever. Pizza tastes very good! It is not too thin and not too thick. I also love their entrees especially the chicken Parmesan. It took about 15 minutes for them to prepare, and it was around $20 for both items. The original bag my order went in had a torn handle, so the lady changed the bag to a sturdier one. We visited at 6.30pm on a Thursday and the place was busy. We had to wait for about 15min to get a table and we were not the only people waiting. There was seating outside but no one wanted to sit in a humid and hot Florida 90 degree weather. The place is small but the wait was worth it. I had a half pepperoni and Hawaii 14'' pizza. It was delicious. Jacob M was our server and he was very attentive and he took care of us and gave us outstanding service. We decided on Al's Pizza because it was close to the place we were staying and my son and I wanted to get a quick run in before dinner. I wished they would have brought the food out to the car, but it worked out we could meet my wife there and the kids didn't have to go in. The lasagna was great as takeout. My son's kid's spaghetti was huge and he loved the sauce. It was nice to have an option of ordering a single piece of pizza for those toppings that everyone doesn't like. We have been Al's pizza fans for years and I am happy to see they have gone back adding sliced meatballs to the pizza instead of the shreds they did for a few years. We rode here on our bikes after a day at the beach. We put our bikes in the bike rack and then went inside to eat. We got seated right away. Our service was wonderful! We got the happy hour wine and beer which was only $1.50! Talk about, I might not make it back to the house, lol. The pizza was amazing as always and the service was even better.
