This is a sad review to write. We love Tony's and have been ordering their pies for years. The pizza is still great but management is now so bad we probably will not be ordering again. We ordered a few pizzas at 5:30p and were told they would be ready at 6:30p. We left with the pizzas around 7:15p after watching the staff panic and bicker for 45 min. We ordered pizza to be picked up just prior to the Fourth of July holiday weekend. We were fortunately advised to know the preferred process of just what you want to order when you call as the conversation goes much better if you are fully prepared when you call! No names are exchanged in order to place an order, you are just given a number as well as a reasonable timeframe your order will be ready. We ordered one large meat lover's pizza, one large Hawaiian pizza and one medium white pizza; all three were delicious and ready for pick up upon our arrival. We gave them our previously "assigned number" and, in return, we were handed our pizzas! In addition, while paying our bill, we were offered a piece of their non-menu house made bruschetta that was simply a special treat for ordering our meal. Once we settled up our account and finished our very good sample of bruschetta, we left the pizzeria to return home in order to feed the family! Our favorite local pizza joint has changed some ingredients and we needed to find a new "place". We found Tony's (which has been here for many years), and we couldn't be happier. The pizza is generously sized, high quality and tasty. LOVE the margherita. Also tried thier "meat" lovers style pizza, both excellent. Can't wait to try Grandma's pizza. Got some takeout pizzas for dinner, a Hawaiian and a Chicken Primo. The pickup was quick and easy, and they give you Bruschetta while you wait. Had to call to order, as there was no online ordering. Prices were reasonable, and the 18" Hawaiian was fantastic! The crust is amazing as well. The 2nd pizza was very bland, hence the loss of star. Ok. Been patronizing Tony's almost every Friday night since we moved here 11 years ago. Last two times crust has been overdone and the pie has been folded up on one side in the box. Can't explain that! Burned crust and cheese is gross, and we will be looking for another pizza place. Too bad because we really liked it when they cared about the product. read more

Got two pizzas here the other night. The white pie tasted quite poor and one of the cheeses even seemed a little off. The plain pie was just too much dough and even seemed a tad undercooked. Both were medium, so I wonder if that is partly what impacted why they turned out so poorly? They probably use the same size dough from medium to large. Either way both pizzas were quite poor and we threw out what we didn't eat quickly. read more

I am sad to post this rating. You may notice that I previously rated Tony's 5 star. Once my favorite pizza place, I now realize that it is no longer what it once was. The family suffered a great loss and my heart is with them. The decline in quality was understandable. We've gone back several times to the same result... overly cheesy, thick, doughy pizza. We were hoping the the people who cooked before would maintain the quality, but they've not. I hope they can bring back the flavorful, thin, perfectly balanced NY style pizza they once had. I moved to Jax from Jersey in September 2015 and have been on the hunt for a decent pizza since. We recently moved down the road from this joint in PVB and decided to try it out. As soon as I walked in I could smell the dough and it took me back to the corner pizzeria in my Jersey hometown. I immediately had high hopes and they sure as hell delivered. When you walk in they offer you a bruschetta which is a nice touch and it was really good. There are really only two factors in a good pie for me. 1. Crust 2. Flavor and freshness of ingredients. The dough was as close to NJ/NYC pizza I have seen in Florida. You hear the excuse down here about "the water not being the same". They over came this. There is American pizza and there is Italian American pizza. This place delivers legit Italian American pizza. The crust has crunch but is soft on the inside with out being "doughy" or "chewy". When you fold the slice it cracks down the middle along the bottom. There is just a little flop at the narrow end but not enough that the ingredients slide around. THIS IS GOOD DOUGH. 2. Ingredients: no body makes their own cheese for their pizza. But you can buy quality cheese and crappy cheese and they use good mozz for sure. Good texture and taste and not dripping oil. The sauce is legit. The sauce itself has great depth of flavor with real minced garlic and fresh herbs. There are a lot of nice things about living in Ponte Vedra Beach but being a mile away from this God send is among the best of them. As old blue eyes would say, "only the best is good enough for me." This my friends is the best Pizza in Duval/St. John's county by far! read more

I'm originally from Brooklyn, moved to NSB quite a while ago. My daughter lives in Jax. Whenever I visit her I try and get Tony's for their margherita pizza. Absolutely delicious! Sauce is delicious, fresh mozz, great crust cooked to a nice crisp. I love it when there are "bubbles" on my crust. If you're a die hard pizza person, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. . Also tried the pinwheel spinach roll. I've never had one with ricotta in it. Yum. It's served with a soufflé cup of sauce on the side. Save that for dipping your pizza crust in (I mean, I never heard of using ranch dressing on my crust, that's ridiculous..lol) and eat the pinwheel straight up. It's flavor packed on its own. I give the Grandma pie 5 stars but honestly I don't care for their dinners they're 3 stars at best. I tried the chicken parmigiana and the eggplant parmigiana and both were mediocre. The sauce lacks flavor and the eggplant was a little too crispy for my taste. I only go to Tonys for their grandma pie. I love the chunky tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella and basil. It's kind of like a thin Sicilian pie but better. I also like the complimentary bruschetta they feed you while you're waiting on your pie. Lol. It's delicious! The staff is friendly and it's a cute little hole in the wall pizzeria. The grandma pie is by far the best pizza in Ponte Vedra Beach. I just wish their dinner were better. Arrived in town for the weekend and Tony's was highly recommended. Sign on the doors reads "New Hours - Open Til 10pm" Walk in at 8:50pm with guy cleaning. He looks at us like we've broken in. When asked if he's closing he's said it was fine, but clearly not. Didn't feel welcomed, obviously, so we left and he stated he was glad. Incredibly disappointing. We love Tony's! It's the best pizza around and the owners and staff are no nonsense people. Sometimes if you get there before the pizza is ready they will give you a little bruschetta and you get to sit back and watch them do their magic. It's a small cozy spot with only a few high top tables because like us, most people pick up. We love their pizza and love that they are a local business with a true Italian American flare.
