I'm only giving two stars due to both pizzas we ordered were good nothing special. But they were good. My experience with them from start to finish was handled poorly. Called and had some questions the lady who answered the phone (come to find out it is the owner) was just rude when I asked questions about the sizes and then when I get to the place for curbside pickup I called due to me not knowing where to go or if I was in the right area wasn't calling to rush my order at all but just curious as to where I go as it was my first time their. She gave tremendous attitude and was rude. I've never dealt with someone in the food business as rude as her. Really had high hopes for this place since I've seen it on Chicago's best and a friend of mine also recommended it but from start to finish they dropped the ball hard. Outstanding pizza. Just amazing. The place is connected with a cool bar so if you wanted you could eat the pizza there. As others have said, they are cash only, but there is an ATM on the premises. My husband and I love Al's! The pizza is consistently amazing and is the best thin crust pizza around, period We fancy ourselves as thin crust pizza connoisseurs and have found that if you ask for them to cook it well done, it gives it that extra bit of crispiness without burning it. As others have said, they accept cash only at Al's as well as the adjoining Towne Tap (although Towne Tap has an ATM if you're low on cash). There is ample seating at Al's but we like to have the boys from Al's bring our pizzas to Towne Tap. Yum. read more

This used to be a 6 out of 5 stars but since Chicago's Best was there they changed their cheese it's really chewy and not gooey like it used to be and the mushrooms have changed from fresh to canned and the sauce it's good but not poppin great and it doesn't matter if it's to go or fresh out of the oven it's the same!!! read more

Shut your mouth....if you haven't been here - get here. There is nothing like down home great pizza. The "rural' feel is a great escape from chain-restaurants. If you could close your eyes and open them up at Al's...you'd swear you're somewhere else. Mom and the boys - treat you well - with respect and make you feel at home. If you've read my other reviews on local pizza establishments, you know the drill. I can't find great pizza in the burbs. I'm trying. I'm not insanely picky. I've found good ones on the way, but I'm not there yet. However, after trying Al's Pizza last weekend, I'm getting closer. I saw the amazing reviews and was intrigued. It didn't event bother me that the place is cash only and mildly resembles a shanty. I wanted good pizza, and I wanted it now. So we ordered a large cheese and sausage and headed over to pick it up. The pizza smelled amazing and the whole ride home was a struggle not to tear into the box. When we opened up the pizza, I was impressed. Sure, it's cut into squares (WHYYYY) and maybe not as cheesy as I'd like, but it looked good. When we sampled it, I was even more impressed! The sausage is high quality and plentiful, and the crust had a nice crispness. The sauce is extraordinarily robustly flavored and sort of drowns out the cheese and toppings, but it, too, tasted fresh. Husband devoured his share, and we had definitely some left over. Is it the best pizza I've ever had? Nah. Is it probably the best pizza I've had to date in this area? Sure is. And until I can find a place that makes enormous, cheesy, triangular, foldable slices of delicious, perfect, pizza, I'm going to return to Al's for more. read more

OK, I am a Warrenville guy! But thin crust pizza is my thing. Their double crust pizza is a nice change of pace. Even the Hawaiian pizza is real good. It was My buddy Jeff that got me eating it. Yeah, I did call him a couple of name's. 1/2 pizza sauce and 1/2 barbecue sauce, is what makes it work. Oh, and do not bring your credit card. It's cash only BuB. read more

I grew up in WeGo, so when I moved to Warrenville, I knew nothing of this place. I sure was missing out. Even if it wasn't insanely close to my home, I would still go out of my way to get it. It must be the sauce. They always get it right, and pie cut on request which I love. Sausage and mushroom pizza with extra sauce is a must! Plus, the bar next door sells beer so you can grab a beer while you wait (if you don't pick up), grab a six pack to go, and take your pizza and have a fantastic night! No delivery, but I'm okay with that since delivery men can ruin a pizza experience fast. Love love love Al's. read more

Amazing pizza! One of my favorite places to eat and have a couple drinks. I order at AL's and then go next-door have a few drinks and they deliver the pizza to me right at the bar. My only complaint is that it's cash only. However there is an ATM in the bar. read more

Best pizza around, I drive out from Carol Stream. I like getting there 10 minutes before my pizza is done so I can grab a beer at the bar next door. If you want they will serve you your pizza in the bar. Great home town hole in the wall pizza. read more

It's hard to determine how many stars to give. Al's pizza is absolutely hands down the best pizza around. But the service was horrible. I had 4 adults and 5 kids come in at 715pm for pizza. We got a back room which was nice to have all that space. You order from up front. We were told the wait is 45 min for pizza. I get it. It's a Saturday night. I used to run a pizza place. I understand. 2 of the adults with us order their own pizza about 20 mins later. So after an hour, I decide to go up to see what's going on. I get attitude and they said that they told me it's going to be an hour. I didn't argue but we were definitely told 45 min. Then the lady says our order is up AFTER the order from the other people in our group. I asked her how that is since we ordered 20 min before them. Basically their response was "it is what it is". So now I have a bunch of hangry 10 years olds waiting for pizza. About 825 the pizza ordered after ours came. The kids came at 835. An hour and 20 min after we ordered. There was no apology. And since we were close to the kitchen, we can hear them talking about how they keep mixing up tickets and don't know what order they are in. So then at 855, she comes to the room to tell us that they close at 9 so we need to finish up! Just ridiculously rude. An "I'm sorry" could of gone a long way in this situation. What a shame since the pizza is so damn good! read more

Love this pizza! If your looking for pie that is sliced into squares and tastes awesome,.. you've found the place! We have only done take out. Cash only but I noticed someone posted they take checks too. I will inquire since I always forget to take cash out and then have to run across the street. The parking lot is small and gets packed so plan to not make a quick run in unless someone waits in the car. Crust is tasty and sauce has a good blend of spices to make a good thin crust. They do close early so no late night pizza cravings. read more

Gosh are you kidding me??? THis place has the BEST pizza in the area, and Gino's East in Wheaton (a Chicago pizza place) does not hold a candle to it. No sides, aps, salads, or frills so you may want to keep to a quick pick-up or simple lunch but trying an Al's Pizza is an absolute must! It pains me to write this follow up review, they still offer my favorite thin crust pizza in Chicagoland. But in the past year or so, there's been staffing changes. The team of young men that used to staff the kitchen were always as friendly as can be. The new pizza cook, who I think might be the owner, is very rude. I've experienced mis-quoted wait times as described in other recent reviews. On my last visit I asked about my pizza (politely) after waiting 25 minutes past the quoted time and was heckled by the woman at the front counter and the cook. To make matters worse, I've witnessed them having welcoming attitudes towards other customers (who I perceived as regulars.) I've eaten dozens of their pies and used to frequent about once a month, I'm not sure why I deserve different treatment. Its seeming very unlikely that I will return. First I must confess...I grew up on Al's pizza. Perfect thin crust and traditional toppings. The sauce and cheese they use are out of this world. This is a family run business for two generations. It proves that if it ain't broke...don't fix it. There is seating available or you can sit in the Towne Tap (connected) and they will bring it to you. Be aware though that it is cash (or local checks) only. No plastic accepted. A must for those that love good old fashioned pizza. read more

We have been driving by this little pizza place forever & finally went in. Best thin crust I've had in a long time! Cash only, get-your-own-can-of-pop out of the fridge or a beer @ the bar next door. Get it to go, though. MAJOR attitude by the woman who seems to run things. She wasn't very friendly & didn't make a good impression for our first time there! This was amazing! The pizza was horribly delicious! We got sausage & pepperoni pizza and me and my family loved it! The appetizers we got was fried shrimp and it was really great! We were surprised when we saw a lot of cars in the parking lot, we knew this place was good! The people there were very nice, even one person explained why Chicago had really good pizza. They had good music, good atmosphere, and great fish. It was cash only, but it had low prices, don't be saying "cash only?!" They have a ATM. Al's Pizza hasn't changed in 20+ years. If you like greasy, thin crust pizza you want to go to Al's. DELICIOUS! Small eating area that has expanded into the former barber shop in front of building. If you want a barley beverage there is an interconnecting tavern next door or you can eat in the bar too. The pizza is just as good today as it was 20 years ago. Only negative is that they don't accept credit cards so bring cash if you want to eat there. read more

I am from Chicago, and though there are many great pizza choices there, nothing compares to Al's. My fiancé (also from Chicago) and I tried Al's on a whim one evening because it's nearby to my apartment. Wow were we blown away!! It was a Saturday night, and it was pretty crowded, so we decided to get a pepperoni pizza to go. The wait was worth it because once we got back to my place and dug in, we both agreed that we have never had better pizza (and we ate almost the whole pizza in one sitting). We just LOVE this place. The pizza is the BEST. We love to head there on a friday night, the staff has been there for years. It is like a little blast from the past. They have an honor system for the canned beverages, a juke box and a brightly lit seating area. (within Al's) We usually order and then sit in the Town Tap. It reminds us of a little Wisconsin bar. This restaurant has been a Warrenville staple for so many years. They take cash only but there is an atm conveniently located. It is really a throw back and we LOVE that about Al's! Definitely, the best thin crust pizza in the suburbs. All of the ingredients are fresh and you can taste it in the final product. They only accept cash...but they do have an ATM right outside the door. You can eat in the bar or in a dining room - of course, we always go for the bar and have a beer or two while we wait :) Since we have tried Al's we just don't care to go to any other pizza place. What a find! Talk about some good thin crust pizza. I get a little nervous every time I suggest trying a new pizza place to my wife because I end up being held responsible for the outcome whether it's a hit or miss. Al's was a home run. We've dined here several times, and each time it's better than I remember it being the last time. I highly recommend the sausage topping. The location is a bit odd and kind of makes you forget that you're actually in Chicagoland, but that only adds to the charm of this place. I almost prefer getting takeout because I kind of have a tendency to burn my mouth when dining in because I can't resist taking a bite as soon as the pizza comes out of the oven.
