Some of Chicago's best chains have started in these neighborhoods, and this place came right in and is here to stay. Their football pizza can feed 6-7 hungry men for around $30. Decided to try something new tonight, as our go to restaurant wasn't open. After reading the reviews, I decided to give Al's a try. What a huge MISTAKE! The Italian beef was really bland, and the bread was dry on the ends. The cheese for the cheese fries was water and *shocking* relatively tasteless. My husband's wings were also dry. Truly disappointed with this entire order and I wish I could ask for my money back. Save your money and order from a restaurant with quality food. read more

My company orders from here quite often. We pretty much always order a football size pizza (feeds roughly 8 people) with ground beef and jalapenos. It is so yummy and it's usually devoured within minutes upon delivery. I stopped in the actual store front yesterday and was pleased to find that I could order just a slice to go. Haven't been to Al's since the pyramids and its nice that they had a location near where I was that day for those that don't want to go into Cicero. Prices didn't seem too bad for a well-established local business whom can charge whatever they please since most will pay it. Got a stuffed pizza to go. After a less than par first impression, Al's definitely redeemed themselves. My roommate and I received credit for a pizza as an apology for our experience. I certainly was not expecting anything to come of my first review. It's refreshing to see a business that is striving toward customer satisfaction. I've been in the hospitality industry long enough to respect their integrity. Sure, I got a free pizza out of it, but that wasn't even the best part. Al's is now our go-to delivery option. So after seeing and reading so many good reviews about this place, I wanted to try it tonight and was hoping they would deliver all the way to Oak Park, which they obliged... not to mention food was cooked and here in 39 minutes, can't beat it!! So delivery driver and lady who took my order were both very nice. Ordered a 1/2 sausage and 1/2 cheese thin crust and an order of mozzarella sticks. Mozzarella sticks were fantastic, and pizza was really quite delicious; next time though I will ditch the sausage and just stick to all cheese because I am not a huge sausage fan and therefore a snob when it comes to it, but to each their own, seems a lot of reviewers do love it. Overall, really good service and really good food. Can't wait to try their fettucine alfredo next, since I also read a rave review about that, and it is my fave. Food is always amazing here. I usually get the fried chicken dinner with a salad and baked potato. But the fresh fries are awesome and so are the sweet potato fries. The family dinners are a great bargain especially the Italian beef for $21.99. It was enough to feed 4 hungry people including 2 men plus leftovers. The gelato is absolutely delicious as well. Angel at the front desk is one of the best girls they've had in there. She was so attentive and friendly and had great conversation for waiting customers, she really made our visit although short very fun. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Ordered delivery from here last night and was very disappointed. The Al's salad came with salami that was very dark in color and smelled a little suspect. Also got a slice of pepperoni that seemed like it had been sitting under a warmer for a while before it was delivered. Pretty obvious they took a slice of cheese pizza and just threw pepperoni on top and warmed it up. On a plus, the driver was polite and then can of Coke he brought was cold. read more

Hideous! Went there with my son who was starving. I bought two slices of overpriced pizza. After making it only half way through one slice my son stopped eating. WHa? This boy loves pizza. This was one of the offshoots of the Al's in Cicero. I say "was" because they do not list each other on their menus - Cicero lists itself as Al's Italian Restaurant and this (and Woodridge) are Al's Pizzeria. And though there was really no difference initially when this location opened compared to Cicero, the Cicero location I feel has gone downhill. The flavor of the pizza itself is different. This location reminds me much more of the Al's I remember. It's hard to qualify what some of the differences are other than to say that if you've been getting it from the Cicero location and you think it has changed, it probably has. I just threw $35 down the toilet. I order a stuffed cheese pizza. The dough was 3 layers thick of raw dough. Wasnt cooked thoroughly. And also got the Chicken Pompeii (which is supposed to be their specialty). The 2 balls of deep fried chicken was obviously thrown in to the deep fryer numerous times. HORRIBLE customer service!! I placed an order at Al's because my Aunt recommended the place. I refuse to place another ordee at Al's because the service is so awful. I went into the restaurant, placed my order and waited in the dining area. After waiting for a couple of minutes, one of the male employees approached me. He wanted to see my receipt. Before I could respond, he had already grabbed the receipt from my hand! I wasn't given any explanation for why he needed the receipt. He was very rude. He finally came back to give me my receipt and he gave the reason for grabbing it. The icing on the cake was opening the pizza at home and seeing that the cheese had slid. I couldn't believe it, I've never opened a pizza that looked like that before. I didn't bother calling back for a new pizza. Why? It was obvious that they didn't want my service, so I won't be back. Um...really? What's with all the positive reviews of this place? The pizza was naaaaaaasty. A frozen Tombstone pizza is far superior to the stuff they serve here. I can't believe I spent any money on the garbage pizza I just ate from here. The crust is pre-made (complete with processed food pattern holes), crappy cheese, and the "fresh basil" you expect on the Margherita pizza is actually just dried basil flakes sprinkled on. We've had Al's before at friends' houses, and y'know, pizza is pizza. It's a good solid regular pizza. But then we had our coupon from LivingSocial, and decided to try their stuffed pizza. And I think I could eat it morning, noon, and night every day until I die. Or pass out from being stuffed. Or explode, spewing pizza all over the place. Place doesnt know difference between steak fries and fresh cut fries. Twice now recently we have had to have new fried chicken dinners redelivered to us with FRESH CUT fries as originally ordered, after giving driver a generous 8 dollar tip on first delivery. Ill bet that same driver got no reimbursement on his second drive here from his boss, and we certainly were not credited anything for eating dinner an hour later. Al's Pizza is the quintessential "good" pizza. There's nothing terribly unique about it, but they offer competitive prices and large size pizzas. Al's is my go-to when ordering for large (6-7 persons) groups. Their wings and pasta are decent as well. They have some nice family specials that include their "football" size pizza, wings, and pasta, for about $50. Their consistency and timeliness keep me coming back. read more

If there was an option to pick 0 stars.. I would do that. Where to start.. Honestly ever since they got this new manager who won't even confront customers when there's an issue, the place has been going down... it's so unfortunate because before her the place was amazing. I ordered food on a Monday for lunch for people I work with.. i walk in and the person behind the counter had the worst hygiene i have ever seen. Like what food business places someone who looks like they just got out of bed and looks like he hasn't showered in weeks to be working here? This guy had 0 manners. My food was cold.. all of it.. my pizza, my pasta, everything. And no i didnt wait an hour to go get the food, i was there 25 minutes as the guy told me and had it back to work in 5. no reason this food should be cold. I call and ask to speak to a manager and he said no one was in (professional right?) and He tells me yeah come in if you have an issue and he HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!! like what?????
