Delicious deep dish! Very tasty and I like how it's not too bready. Tons of cheese and decent portion of sauce. We had it with spinach and onion. Would have loved a little more spinach as it was a little sparse but the flavor overall was great. Small seating area but plenty for a handful of groups. Where do I start.......? If you are looking for great tavern style thin crust pizza look no further. The crust is paper thin and crispy, the sauce has a slight tangy/sweetness to it and the sausage is tasty. We ordered an extra thin crust, well done, cheese sausage and fresh garlic and it was the best! I have to admit Vito and Nicks has been my all time favorite but Bertolli is seriously giving V&N's a run for their money. The dining room is small and very unpretentious, actually just a few tables and a TV mounted on the wall. It seems like most of their business is carry out and delivery. We started our with garlic/parmesan chicken wings which were killers as well. The wings were crispy, cooked to perfection with outstanding flavor. Food was great and I loved it but when I went to the deli the worker was very rude! She was not being nice and she was making very inappropriate comments and she was waking me and husband quiver from our anger of her inappropriate remarks and just so yall know it's the girl with the blue hair who is a bit overweight. Wings are great--we usually do the honey barbecue, and always order enough to eat the next day. Oddly, didn't realize they had stuffed until like a month ago. And it's pretty incredible. Okay we each separately called this place on a Sunday. After reading the comments and reviews on Google we thought we would give it a try. We thought we would dine in then walk off the calories but when we each called separately we both got the impression that we were not welcome and that he was much too busy for us. A pizza place who has been established since 1934 can't handle a party of two people. Interesting. You are much too busy for us. How disappointing. I ended up hanging up the phone cause I just couldn't listen to the egotistical riff raff who answered the phone . The guy had zero class and failed to handle potential new customers. We fined up heading to Chicago's famous Roberts pizza and it did not disappoint! It was super busy as usual but they managed to seat us dockside and we had a perfect view of Navy pier!!!! Unfortunately we cannot recommend this place. I tried giving him a second chance to invite us over and realize his mistake but that never happened. But their pizza is quite good. Seriously. I know, I know, this is Chicago. Home of deep dish and the self-proclaimed Mecca of all things pizza related. And that is mostly justified. The deep dish in this city is epic. The regular crust is also spectacular. Hell, even the thin crust cracker crust, Detroit style and Quad City style pizzas here are damn good. You will have a hard time finding better pizza anywhere in the world than Chicago. Now, is Bertolli's the best int he world? No. Sorry guys I love you and all. But we're not there yet. But Bertolli's does a damn good pie. Both thick and thin. The toppings are quality and plentiful. The sauce is so good, really. And the prices are very good. Got an extremely burnt pizza late last night. They were closed by the time I got my delivery and had to hound the driver to even get my receipt. They called today, and when I called them back to see if I could return this pizza, they told me to F off and never call there again, and he knows the pizza he made "was beautiful". Here is a photo of the skidmarks of the backside of said "beautiful pizza". I wouldn't even serve this to the immigrants who have come to Oak Park. Shame on them!!!!!! read more

The crust is like a cracker, the cheese is gooey and gross, and the sauce is overly sweet like marinara. I do not see the appeal. Outstanding thin crust pizza. My fave is black olive and sausage, with anchovies and pickled jalapeños added at home. I prefer a pie cut to a tavern cut-- if you ask, they will sometimes remember. I've heard so many good things about this place, I decided it was time to check it out. The last time I had pizza from here was in 1974, not long after they had opened up as River Pizza. Always like seeing pizza for takeout/delivery in a paper bag. Lots of sausage, good sauce, fairly crisp crust. It was a little wet in the middle; probably should have blotted it a bit. This is great pizza! Admittedly I passed by this spot multiple times without a glance, but others in the area said it was tasty so we gave it a try! Delicious pizza from a no frills spot was great! This is a local spot, well loved by neighbors, a tad salty (we had a cheese/sausage thin crust), and overall delicious. Located in River Forest right off Lake Street. Tons of street parking and a small lot in front. They accept cash and cards. Very good Covid precautions, masks, gloves, lots of hand sanitizer and social distancing enforced. The pizza here is really, really good. Great toppings and the sauce rocks. I'm a big fan of the sausage and the BBQ chicken is spot on. The deep dish and stuffed is good and VERY filling. They also make a really good beef sandwich with and their meatball is second to none. The employees are always friendly and I've never had an issue with an order. Insider tip, this place is very popular and can get busy on weekends. Make sure to give yourself enough time and call ahead. Especially during this times when take out is king, just plan ahead. Good place, good prices, great food. Go get a Za from Bertollis. This is the best Pizza in the River Forest/Oak Park area. There are other good pizza places nearby, especially if you are looking for a night out with friends. But this is the pizza you order after a long day at work, or you need to treat a bunch of friends who just helped you put up your Christmas Tree.
