I came here with my wife to try it out and I'm extremely picky about mensef as most places can't do it right and let me tell you I would recommend not only the mensef but all the food here any day of the week! Went in here because we had a local ad coupon and we live next door (and I love mediterranean) We waited literally 45 minutes before asking the waitress what was wrong, a party that came before us was complaining too, some of them wanted to leave but the waitress was arguing about them not paying for the plates they never received... they wanted them to pay for plates that were never delivered, because the kitchen is so slow. Anyways I kept asking my wife to leave but she insisted we stay, so we waited the full hour for some basic skewers. Chicken was bone dry, rice was dry, and the flavor wasn't all that great, all in all it was a terrible experience from the waitress who doesn't know customer service, to the slow kitchen, and dishonest pricing, and to top it all off we had to wait an hour just to receive the overpriced subpar food. We went here a few months ago but saw these guys buying reviews so I thought I'd post a real one so people know what to expect walking in here. read more

amazing, flavorful food with a beautiful atmosphere. We got the spicy garlic fries which were AMAZING!! probably one of the best garlic wedges I've had. Food was super flavorful with authentic spices. We got a chicken shawarma and trio plate. Both were super good but the lamb was so tender and the best out of the meat options. If you're here, please order the baklava. It was so good that we ordered two portions of it. First time here and it's definitely on my top places to eat. Third time to Alsham and can confidently say this is fantastic Mediterranean cuisine. Owner is attentive and helpful, and while we would not be able to confirm it to be true, we are assured it is authentic. Apart from kabobs and shawarma, a real find is their Falafel Salad side salad - enough to split for 2-3, and a fantastic fresh side. This place was clean and welcoming starting at the door. Out plates were full to the rims with large portions of food. Somebody has all grandmas and aunties cooking in the kitchen because the food taste like love went into every bite. It really taste like genuine ole school recipe style cooking, nothing rushed or thrown together. However with that being said it took forever to receive our order. Be prepared to wait minimum 45min to eat. That's the reason for the 4 stars. Also, some of the items on the menu was not available and that was disappointing. My friend and her husband were trying to find a place to meet half way between us. She lives in Redlands and we live in OC. So we picked Corona and chose this place. Looked like a hole in the wall. Didn't have any expectations. We were the only ones there on a weekday evening. We all ordered something different. I got the beef shawarma. Omg! The spices on it! Menu says "kebab plate" but it's not what you get. I didn't know a kebab only consist of 3 pieces of meat. Pita bread was cold and flimsy. Wanted to try a new local spot. Walked in at 7:45p and was told to sit down. We weren't given menus. It was only us and another party in the restaurant. The other party left before their food was even served and we were ignored for another 10 minutes as the waiter talked to family/friends in the back, so we walked out too. Bummer! Good, but it might not be worth your time. Positives: -The food was pretty good, but with that said I haven't had Mediterranean food in a year or more, so I may not be the best critic. -The interior was immaculate, super clean, everything looked brand new and well decorated. The remodel looks amazing from the old sandwich place. Negatives: -The wait time... I read a few reviews and nearly ordered from here about a month ago but the negative reviews about wait times held me back. I wasn't in a hurry tonight so I figured I would give it a try. I ordered via the Yelp app at 5:45PM and I didn't get my food (takeout) until 7PM. It didn't help that they apparently lost my order, but somehow marked it as 'ready for pickup' on Yelp. When I went into the place the host tried to charge me again. When I showed them my receipt on Yelp, Apple Wallet, and in my email, they said they would make the food right away. I waited and they made the order in maybe 5 minutes - which makes me wonder why it took over an hour say it was ready for pickup? I only ordered on Yelp because even though the mailer/flyer says DoorDash and Grubhub, this place doesn't show up on either service right now - seems like a good way to exclude potential customers. The whole restaurant was empty other than a host and two guys that seemed like they might be owners/family/manager. The were very nice and offered to give me tea while I waited, but at that point I was hangry and just wanted to get my food and return home after waiting 75 minutes. -Pretty expensive (yes, I know, everything is expensive now days). I ordered a beef shawarma entree ($21) and a order of grape leaves/dolma ($9). With tax and a $2 tip it was $34.52. Those are sushi prices! If I was rating this JUST on the food I would probably give it a 4 and I might try it again, but the wait times make it inconvenient and probably the reason I won't return. Apparently, I'm also just not that into Mediterranean food and I think I'm not alone here (based on the empty restaurant). I'll also mention (and this is totally NOT their fault but...) in my ignorance I ordered a beef shawarma entree assuming that was a wrap so I was disappointed when I got my food home. Instead I got a plate of beef (in my defense if you Google image shawarma, nearly every picture shows up as a wrap). Live and learn. tl;dr The food is fine/good, but the wait might stop you from trying it or coming back. P.S. I miss the old place sandwich shop (Sub's Galore) that was in this location. My wife & I will drive anywhere for good Mediterranean food & to find out a place was opening minutes from our house had us ecstatic Finally had the opportunity to give it a shot last night... huge swing & a miss The food was ok (average at best), the service wasn't good at all, and the options are limited & expensive. I don't mind paying if I'm getting great food & great service but this was neither No kids portions... my 3 girls love kababs & basmati rice. I asked the server if there was a kids menu or kid-size portions since I didn't see anything on the menu... her response? "We have chicken nuggets & French fries". Really? There's a Jack in the Box in the same parking lot... if I wanted that for my kids I'd go there & get better chicken than the microwave nuggets they clearly got next door from Ralph's... my kids maybe at half of their plate... they weren't even impressed Our food took forever to come out & one plate didn't come out until the very end... apparently a chicken shawarma wrap takes twice as long to cook than half a chicken, a lamb plate & baked salmon. When I asked for an update on the dish, 3 of us at the table were done eating already & the waitress couldn't have cared less. "It takes a while to prepare" I was told... really?! Great place if you're looking for a light snack...... cus portions are tiny!! Was excited to try this new spot on Green River since we live close by but was pretty disappointed. We ordered the beef kabob plate and the kofta plate for carry out. Both the meats were very dry with burnt edges, tried adding their tahini sauce to make it less dry (although can't fix a burnt meat), but the sauce was more of a paste than a sauce.. very thick. My beef literally got stuck in this paste. The meats were served over a yellow rice which was probably the best part of the meal. Garnished with white onions, sumac, and an onion bulb on the side. Had the traditional pickled veggies I believe radish? Hummus was watery runny and bland, worst part was they served it with a warm tortilla wrap lol not even a pita bread the least they could do. Wish I took a picture for you guys, but had a few bites and the plate disappeared. Might come back in a few months to see if they've improved. I was so impressed by the fact that this restaurant has dishes that I dont see anywhere else in corona...even Arabic ice cream. i like learning about different cultures through food. the dishes were more expensive than usual fare in the city, but it seems to be a more upscale resto so it works. Also, there was A LOT of food for the price. seems to me they can charge half the price for half the food and we would still be satisfied. Also, the food was good. We walked in and although there were 2 people serving, it was a slow weekend night and no one greeted us or told us where to sit. Not wanting to waste time because we were hungry and hired a babysitter, we ended up grabbing our own menus and choosing a table to sit at. Then we ordered and my dish was spicy, but I wasn't told it was spicy when I ordered nor was it on the menu as spicy. I was told it was spicy when the food came out. It was still delicious but I had to stop eating it because it was so spicy.
